MLP EQG: Sonic The Hedgehog

It was an early morning at the typical island. The sun was rising, the sky was clear, the river was fresh and clean, the grass was green and most of all, very peaceful.

’This is the island where I’m from.’
Somewhere on that island, a small blue creature, which looked like a small hedgehog, was running through the island without a care in the world. ‘It had everything.’ He ran across the field at the speed of sound, ran over a weak bridge before it collapsed, and then ran through a huge loop-de-loop without even breaking a sweat. It was all thanks to his special power of energetic super speed.
‘Sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, public access to loop-de-loops. And I never had to catch a school bus because I could run across the entire island in less than two seconds.’
The young hedgehog continued running across the entire terrain.
‘Also, there was no school. I know, pretty sweet island, right?’
The young hedgehog ran across a ramp and shot himself up into the air, “Yeah!” and then landed back on the ground and continued zipping through his island.
‘I was born with extraordinary powers and was told to keep them secret. But like any other kid, I did the exact opposite.’
Not that he was complaining or being disobedient or anything, he mostly enjoyed the thrill of running around at high speed and the fact he could easily reach his destination within seconds before anyone could blink.
Speaking of which, the young hedgehog had finally reached his destination: a secret but small treehouse where he and his guardian had been staying for private sanctuary. After running up some bridges to the small treehouse, he curled into a ball and rolled through the door and into the house, but across the floor, and then jumped up and bumped into the nest where his guardian was resting, waking her up in the process.
While the young hedgehog didn’t know about his past or who his real family was, Longclaw was the only one who was there for him since the beginning. All his life, he viewed her as many different combinations of many other personalities or characteristics, but all at once: a wise and noble teacher, his best friend… and a caring motherly figure. She even risked herself everyday and night to keep him safe, but she enjoyed his company. The young hedgehog felt the same way about her, which was why he ran out this morning to get her a little “present” to show her how much she means to him.
‘That’s Longclaw. She took care of me.’ The young hedgehog landed on the ground, now out of ball form, and giggled after seeing her startled reaction, before her expression changed to a somewhat annoyed expression. ‘She was basically Obi-Wan Kenobi. If Obi-Wan Kenobi had a beak and ate mice.’
“Sonic, how many times do I have to tell you?” The owl scolded with a concerned expression. “You can’t keep running around outside! Someone could’ve seen you!”
“Chill out, Longclaw!” Young Sonic assured with a smirk before running in place. “No one even saw me! I’m way too fast for them!” He stopped and gave her a sheepish grin. “Besides, I ran out just to bring you… this!”
Young Sonic pulled out an item from behind his quills, revealing a beautiful sunflower and then presented it to Longclaw as a gift to her.
Longclaw sighed and shook her head with her playful smile. “What am I going to do with you?”
The young hedgehog may be a handful to her at times, but his heart was truly full of pure gold. When Longclaw reached over towards the flower to grab it from Sonic, she suddenly noticed something from the top of the tree that was behind Sonic. Her eyes widened in shock when she realized it was those “tribe warriors” of echidnas that have been pursuing them for quite some time and they were aiming their arrows at the young hedgehog.
“Get down!” she screamed as she dove for Sonic and then slammed the door with her foot just before the arrows could hit them.
The echidnas fired their arrows from their bows and they hit almost every corner of Longclaw’s house, with one arrow breaking the window, barely missing Longclaw, and passing through Sonic’s flower, pinning it to the wood floor.
She looked up just as more of these echidnas were trying to enter through the windows and preparing to attack with their weapons, including spears and bows, and a few nets, intending to capture or even eliminate the young hedgehog. ‘Turns out with great power, comes great power-hungry bad guys. And I led them right to us.’ Determined to not let anything happen to the young hedgehog, Longclaw quickly flew through one of the windows and took off into the sky with Sonic safely in one of her talons as the echidnas continued firing arrows at them.
Longclaw went higher and higher as she dodged more arrows that were shooting at her. She was nearly close to escape from her pursuers, but eventually, however, she had failed to notice one arrow that was shot from one of the echidna warriors and struck her from her left side. Longclaw then went straight down towards the ground, unable to fly back up again. She held Sonic protectively with one side of her wing before they crashed and plummeted to the ground on her other side.
After they crashed, Longclaw slowly got up and winced from the intense pain due to the arrow that was pierced into her side as she placed a very concerned Sonic on his feet and he looked up at her. What was even worse was she couldn’t fly or move for that matter due to her injury. She knew that she couldn’t go on anymore and perhaps needed to send the boy away to a safer location before their pursuers could catch up to them. She really hated doing this to the young boy, but with her badly injured, she would only slow him down. Her top priority was to keep him safe, no matter the cost.
“Listen carefully, Sonic…” Longclaw instructed, ignoring the pain from her side. “You have this great power unlike anything I’ve ever seen… but in turn, there are those who wanted your power for themselves… and would do anything to get it… even harming you. The only way for you to stay safe… is to stay hidden!”
She then quickly took out a golden ring from her satchel pouch before throwing it into the air. The ring then suddenly grew into a huge glowing portal with an image of dark woods during the night in the center of the ring. Longclaw then turned towards Sonic as she pointed at the portal behind her.
“This world should be on the far side of the universe! You should be safe there!”
With an alarmed expression, young Sonic shook his head as he hugged Longclaw. “No! I don’t wanna go without you!”
“You must!” she loudly insisted.
She then took the pouch off from her belt and handed it over to the young hedgehog. “Take these rings! These rings are the most important things in your possessions! Don’t ever lose them!”
The two suddenly heard loud shouting in the distance. They turned just in time to see their pursuers were getting more and more closer to them. Realizing that she was running out of time, she quickly turned back to Sonic.
“If you are ever discovered, use them!” she instructed further as she gently pushed Sonic towards the portal. “And never. Stop. Running!”
Sonic was now close to the portal, but he looked back up at Longclaw with a sad expression, silently begging her to not make him leave her. This only made Longclaw give him the final push to safety.
“Now go!” Longclaw shouted.
Startled from her concerned outburst, young Sonic turned and ran through the portal and into another world. He ran for quite a long distance from the portal before he looked back. He was somehow alarmed to see Longclaw still on the other side of the portal while the echidnas were practically closing in on her, shielding them from entering the portal with her wings.
“Longclaw!” Sonic shouted as he turned around and ran back towards the portal.
Hearing his cries, Longclaw glanced back at the young hedgehog one last time with a somber expression as the echidnas got even closer, “...Goodbye, Sonic.”
“No!” Sonic shouted, trying desperately to move faster towards the portal. “NOOOOOOOO!”
Just as he reached the portal, it suddenly disintegrated into magical particles, disappearing into the air, and Sonic now losing his chance to save his guardian... the only friend he ever had. He then stopped to catch his breath, without noticing the tears of sadness and heartbreak leaking from his eyes. While thinking how he should do what Longclaw instructed, Sonic was now in a whole new world and he was going to live in this world… alone.

Author's Note
This story is based off of sonicfan05’s version, but I also thought about adding Sonic’s narrations like in the movie and maybe add some references from the original movie transcript. Next up is Sonic’s lifetime in Canterlot City, and the introduction of the Equestria Girls.
