The Death of Twilight Sparkle
Assassination (Part 1)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterEquestria was nothing more than a blur on the horizon now.
From the village, a long trail of footprints and wheel marks scattered over the endless sand dunes.
The desert suddenly gave way to a high and threatening cliff. Below, a menacing descent into the ocean.
Twilight Sparkle's eyes barely opened; oh, her head hurt so bad and her body felt bruised. She tried to sit up, but her chained feet were suddenly grabbed and pulled from the cart, landing in the sand.
"UPH!"
The guards roughly brought her to her knees. The icy air brought blows to her skin, erecting her arms.
She tried to look around her, not noticing anything familiar; just sand dunes as far as she could see.
Where was she? What were the guards going to do with her?
He heard a clink of metal right behind his back, and his legs suddenly seemed to get very heavy against the ground ... but before he could look back, his head was tilted by heavy hands, and he found himself staring at Aria Blaze, with a threatening face.
"Hold her tight, guys!" she ordered.
Twilight Sparkle was grabbed by her arms and knelt. The young princess looked up just in time to...
BAM.
Aria hit Twilight's stomach with her wooden club as hard as she could.
"AOWPHH!" yelled Twilight through her gag.
Twilight fell to the sand, writhing and defeated. She tugged on the handcuffs, to no avail.
Gasping for breath, Twilight saw the lights of Equestria on the horizon ... in blind terror and despair, she began to move on the sand, crawling toward the distant light.
"Someone... help me... please..." Twilight moaned to herself.
Her chained journey came to a hasty end, when a strong hand grabbed her by the ankles, dragging her back and bringing her back to her knees, once more at Aria's feet.
Suddenly, the hard hands twisted Twilight to the other side; facing an endless and glistening body of water.
"Adagio is grateful to you for your services, girl... but I'm afraid... you've exhausted your... WELCOME!"
"UPH-!" Twilight coughed suddenly, when a strong kick hit her back, and she stumbled forward awkwardly.
She began to fall. Her heart rose to her throat.
Aria smiled from the cliff, watching as the defenseless girl fell into the water. Laughter echoed in the sky and faded for miles around.
"HEHAHAHAAHAA...!"
With the mission completed, the three soldiers began their long journey back to the city. Covering their tracks, they left no trace of what they had done.
Now they could only let the girl's fate unfold.
As Twilight tumbled down the high cliffs, a purple and pink patch was visible from a distance.
Her eyes widened in horror above her gag, her long hair billowing over her in the wind.
There was no time to think or even scream. She instinctively she braced herself for the impact.
The chained and gagged princess howled as a heavy weight tugged at her feet. She didn't know where she was ... she couldn't tell if she was up or down. The air from her fall forced her to close her eyes. Her stomach churned.
"Oh no... this can't be-" thought Twilight very scared
BSHTUM!
She was in the sea water.
Everything around her shattered into bubbles, foam, and fear when Twilight was underwater. She flailed madly from the need for oxygen.
Her heart began to race and she got goose bumps.
Her hair flailed, trailing and whipping after her as she was dragged through the water. Her eyes snapped open with new alertness.
"H-HHHPHH! MMMHH! " Twilight screeched out loud.
The icy water bit into her skin from all directions. She tried to free herself from her bondage ... but the steel shackles kept her chained, while something was pulling her.
Something heavy. She was sinking.
The water began to rise above her eyes, and what Twilight saw made her gawk.
Her heart skipped a beat: an iron ball, attached to the end of a long chain chained to her ankles. Towing her into the depths of the ocean.
They were drowning her.
"HOMPH-!" Twilight screamed, opening her gagged mouth, but it quickly filled with salty water, making her shut up.
Her heart beat faster. The surface was receding by the second.
She had to escape... she couldn't die like this. No one would know where she is. What would happen to her friends, with Equestria, with Flash...?
She had to escape, she had to!
Twilight did the only thing she could think of: fight with everything she had.
"NGH-FFH-MPH!"
She writhed in vain as the cold water burned her skin.
She tugged and stretched her arms in blind despair; but she was in vain.
Her arms ached and her wrists burned from the grip of the metal handcuffs that were too tight.
She tried to kick wildly to free herself from the shackles on her ankles. She gave it her all. Twilight brought her knees up to her chest, kicking hard against the metal weight. But the steel ball was shown to be too heavy, as she kept pulling her chained ankles toward the bottom of the sea.
"NGH-URMPHH!"
The desperate 18-year-old pulled, twisted and stretched her arms and legs in every way possible, desperate and frantic. The water was ice cold and the pressure was crushing her.
She had to do anything to escape her chains of steel.
"UMFHH... MM-NOPH- HWWLLP-!"
She arched her back and strained her slender chained limbs wherever they went.
Even so, her chains only vibrated mockingly. Like a chorus, laughing at her petty, childish attempts at freedom. Her lungs began to burn horribly for air, screaming for what she couldn't give.
She needed oxygen.
Eyes wide and panicky, Twilight stared up at the surface to no avail.
"MMPH-UUPH! NOPHH! OHMM..."
Each call for help only created bubbles through her gag and her voice faded unheard underwater.
A long stream of air filtered through her lips, leaving the gagged and chained princess, as she fought against her chains, hoping to break free from her ...
Twilight's entire life began to flash before her. The stitches slid into her eyes. Her lungs gave up and began to fill with water. The air burn on her chest was now a raging inferno; a terrible pain, more and more intense, that did not go away.
"The lamp... I need the lamp..."
Nothing was working... Twilight wasn't ready for this.
In the city, she was the acrobat, the artist of escapism.
She could always evade the guards on the narrow streets of Equestria.
Alleys, stairs, crowds, costumes... and every time, she escaped.
But this... this was so different. None of his little tricks would work here. They had stripped her of her only defense: movement.
She could escape from a horde of angry bandits, but not from Adagio's chains. Her fate had been decided and there was no escape from it.
The long black outline of the cliff slowly dissolved into darkness. She could only imagine the lamp... her only hope... on Adagio's desk...
"No... please... someone... help me..."
But no one was going to help her.
Twilight Sparkle was alone to face her danger. Gagged and chained, as she plummeted toward her eternal tomb of water.
Adagio Dazzle was winning.
The evil vizier returned to her office, a cunning smile of success on her face.
Her goldenrod clinked as she leaned it against one of the stone pillars as she sat at her desk.
Everything was working perfectly.
The execution of the princess was underway, the lamp was in her power, and most importantly... no one would ever know her location.
"Time for a bit of a show…" she murmured, turning towards her crystal ball and skimming the surface.
The smoke inside her took shape, to reveal the hazy, watery silhouette of Twilight Sparkle, struggling pathetically against the chains as she sank to the bottom of the sea.
Adagio let out a sinister laugh at the sight, leaning back in her seat and watching.
Twilight Sparkle… her last obstacle… the only one that could pose a threat to her plans… Now a terrified and pathetic mess, sinking into the depths of the ocean.
It was truly a show for the evil vizier. Bloodless and silent, but slow and horrible... it was the perfect execution.
Twilight was nothing without the lamp.
Adagio kept staring at the girl gagged and chained to the crystal ball, writhing and desperate to break free from her… as she slowly drowned toward her death.
"Fight all you want, dear, there is nothing you can do..." Adagio said "With those chains it is impossible to escape, it is useless... but continue... I LOVE to see you suffer".
