Days of Avery

"Hahaha, what am I WRITING?!" I just burst out laughing as I realize what I started to write.

I wanted to write something like a story, but I couldn't help but write something like that! I calmed down a bit and picked up the quill with my magic again, but soon my door opened and I looked over to see who it was.

Princess Celestia had come in and said "Well, aren't you being happy today? Why were you laughing so much?"

I simply said "Well I'm trying to write something down but I wrote something completely different! hahaha!"

I saw her come to me, I picked up my book and showed it to her. A couple moments later she had a puzzled face and just started laughing a little.

"What the- nose hair ruler? making a burger? hehehee..." She calmed down much faster then I had and cleared her throat.

"Well, that's quite something....though I didn't expect something like that."

I replied "neither did I"

I saw Celestia look at me in a certain way, she seemed to shake it off and say "Come on, it's time for breakfast."

I put my book down and said "Alright! I'm hungry. ...I wonder where we'll eat."

I looked to Celestia and she said "Well, we're going to eat at the dinning hall....where else would you eat?"

I felt silly "Oh...well ok then. You can lead the way!"

She smiled and turned back to the door and walked outside, I followed her to where ever the dinning hall was at. I had no idea where anything was really at in the castle, since I've never really been in here for one whole day. We arrived at the dinning hall, a long table was in the canter of the hall with a chandelier above shining in the sun's rays. I sat on the opposite side of the table where we came in at and Celestia sat on the end near where I was sitting. I looked around to see if Luna was anywhere, but I didn't see her.

I asked "Hey, where's Luna?"

Celestia responded "She's always a bit late, being kept up with nightly duties and everything."

When she finished saying that the door infront of me burst open and I saw a glimpse of blue shoot up and being brought back down, a large gust of wind blew into my face making me close my eyes for a second. I opened my eyes back up to see Luna sitting on the other side of me.

I blinked and said "Well that's one way to make an entrance..."

Luna giggled and said "Well your laugh knows how to get out. I heard you laughing a storm, and I was on the other side of the castle!"

I got confused and said "Really? ...I was that loud?"

She nodded her head as I heard doors being slammed opened, I looked over to see that the kitchen doors behind Princess Celestia were open and a griffin stood there. He was wearing a chef's hat, a really tall and fluffy one.

He then spoke "Because mister Gustave is sick, he has put me in charge in making this morning's breakfast. For now it is Pancakes since I have yet to find any other recipes."

He went back in and brought out a cart with a large amount of pancakes.

"Pancakes?! Well! I'm going to enjoy this!" I thought to myself

The griffin brought all of us towering stacks of Pancakes, each dribbling with syrup. I picked up my fork with magic while staring at the pancakes, they looked so delicious.

I heard Princess Celestia say "Alright everypony, lets dig in."

I poked my fork straight into the top pancake and shoved the whole thing in my mouth, getting some syrup on my face. It tasted so good, the fluffiness and sweetness of the syrup made it feel so soft. I also noticed a different flavor in the pancakes, a little spicy. My mouth started to burn and I started to look for a glass of water.

"Ow, hot hot hot HOT!"

I got up from my seat and went to the kitchen and drank out of the faucet, I sighed heavily with relief as I went back to my seat. I sat down and heard giggling, I looked over and saw that it was the princesses.

"Oh Avery, That was quite funny." says Princess Celestia

"Funny? I almost had my tongue burnt off!" I said with a loud voice

"Please, with those flames in you I bet you burn your tongue every day!" Princess Celestia giggled.

"But I DON'T! My flames don't even come to my mouth!" I started to get irritated

"Hey, can't you see that she's just teasing?" Luna says

I look at Luna and look the other way with my eyes closed, I could literally feel steam coming from my head.

"Sorry...."

"It's quite alright Avery, but you should control that temper of yours. Once you finish eating you need to work on your magic and flying, I haven't seen you practicing them lately beside the levitation spell."

I sigh and start to eat another pancake, THIS time it wasn't a trick. After breakfast, Luna took me to a nearby field.

"Why are we here again?" I ask mindlessly

"You need to practice your flying remember?" Luna says with a disappointed tone

I lower my ears and laugh nervously "Oh yeah..."

"Tis alright, why don't you practice basic flying and turning. Try circling that tree over there" She points a hoof to a nearby tree.

I spread my wings out, stretching them for a second. I then ran a little and took off flying, I glided and turned just fine. I went faster and tightened up my turns a little. I then went to the tree and tried to circle it, but I made a too sharp a turn and lost balance. I started to go down and wobbled violently, I soon fell like a rock and crashed next to Luna. I felt a lot of pain in my left wing, I think I sprained it.

I got up and spread my wings again, but my left wing was crooked and jagged in pain. I winced as my left wing tried to move.

"Ow....I-I think I sprained my wing"

"Oh dear...well lets try not to make sharp turns like that. In the mean time, lets go in and practice your magic!" Luna said and started to go to the castle

"Well shouldn't I go and get this wing looked at?" I said

Luna stopped and lowered her ears "Oh yes...we need to do that. Lets go see Tia about it if she's not busy, if she is lets head to the infirmary. Oh and to warn you now, the nurse there tends to be a little flirty."

I looked at her puzzled "Why would you say that?"

"Sometimes she can be a little too flirty....to say the least."

I just blinked for I really didn't know what she meant and followed her inside the castle. I kept my wing still as we walked down the halls. We came to one of the guards and Luna asked where Tia might be, they responded with saying that she had duties in Trotingham.

"Well, time to head to the infirmary then. And hope that nurse Fire Heart doesn't do anything else other than fix your wing..." she walked onward and I followed her.

I asked after a few moments of walking "Why do you seem to dislike nurse Fire Heart?"

She stopped and said "Because I don't won't you to get a wrong idea about love for any future means. She tends to speed things up way too fast if she sees a stallion she likes. And I don't really dislike her, she just annoys me with that flirting to a high point." she continued walking.

I didn't say anything else, I might upset her more. After a few minutes of walking to one end of the castle to the other we arrived at the infirmary, the doors seemed like one of those paper sliding doors. Luna knocked on it and the door slid open as I half expected. In the opening of the door stood a red mare with pink hair that was tied up with ribbons, I saw that her cutie mark was a hospital cross with a heart in the center of it with hearts flowing around it, she was also wearing a little nurse hat.

She spoke "Yes? Oh hello there Princess! What brings you by today?" she glances over to me "And who is this cute little stallion here?"

I looked at her puzzled and thought "Cute? Do I really look cute?"

Luna moved infront of me and said "We're here because Avery here has sprained his wing while practicing. If you would look at it and see how long it would take until it heals that would be-"

She was interrupted and I was brought face-to-face with Fire saying "Well of course I would! He looks like one of those grey candies with a cherry topping!" I was then pulled by the nurse into the infirmary

"Well-wait! Hang on there nurse! I also wanted to say that-" Luna tried to say but had the door slid on her face.

I was brought into a room similar to the hospital rooms in Ponyville and sat on a chair. I felt my sprained wing being messed with and it hurt, I pulled it away slightly.

I then looked at Fire and said "Easy! It hurts a lot...".

"Well I have to make sure it isn't broken, because if it is you'll have to stay for a couple days!" Fire said with a merry tone.

She went back to messing with my wing, I tried to ignore the pain as she pushed on it. She then stopped and walked over to the counter, I felt her tail rub against my wing and I pulled it back.

She then came back and said "Well your wing is just sprained, but pretty badly. If it takes anymore damage it will be broken. And surprisingly your healing rate is extremely slow, slower than most ponies. Most ponies that get a sprain usually just spend an hour or two resting then they are alright, you on the other hoof need to spend most of the day resting." she turned and started to walk to the door.

I thought to myself "I remember the nurse back in Ponyville saying that the cuts I got from Despair's sword would take three times longer than they expected. If I get a broken wing or leg I might stay in a hospital for like a month!"

I heard Luna's voice yell "Tis a lie! We know that he has magic practice soon!"

I saw Fire come back and say "Magic practice eh? Well I know exactly what to have him use as a targ-" she get hit on the head with a pan.

Fire turns and says "Ow! What was that for princess?"

"Your going a bit overboard with your flirting again..."

I saw that Fire's tail go under my chin and held my head up.

"Oh you always think that my flirting is overboard," she brings me over to her side with her tail "especially when I'm around your friends! And- oh my, you are quite warm my dear... do you have a fever as well?"

I tried to speak "Uh, I don't think so. I feel completely fine, other than the fact that my wing is sprained and that you are really close to my face."

She moved infront of me and put one of her hooves on my fore head, she then pulled it back.

"Well you are really warm, your wing wasn't as hot as you are now. Then again, I don't think anything is as hot as you."

I blinked at her, not really understanding what she said.

Luna moved her aside and said "Okay Fire, that's enough. You have done enough for us and now we must leave, come along Avery." she turned and started to walk out the door, I followed.

I felt my leg being grabbed and saw that it was Fire clinging to my right hind leg saying "Oh come on, he needs to stay here and rest!"

A blue aura surrounded her and was brought into the air, Luna Spoke "No he doesn't, He can still walk around and practice his magic. He doesn't need to stay here where he can't practice at all." the blue aura disappeared and Fire was dropped to the floor.

Fire pouted "You're no fair Princess..."

Luna and I walked through the castle once more, I then asked "Where are we going now?"

Luna answered "We're going to the Royal library, so that you can both practice magic and see Twilight Sparkle"

I stopped and said "Twilight's there?"

Luna looked back at me and said "Yes, she was going to be here today since she was here last night, was she not?"

"Well yeah, but I didn't know that she was going to be in the library..."

Luna looked at me in a way and said "Why are you hesitating? Don't you want to see your friend?"

"O-Of course, but...."

"But?"

"Nevermind, lets just head there." I walked again.

We arrived at the library soon after that conversation, I looked at the clock and it said it was one o'clock. I looked around the library, I didn't see Twilight anywhere and I lowered my ears a little. There was only a very large pile of books in the corner.

Luna then said loudly "Twilight! We are here! Could you maybe help us?"

The large pile of books then started to move with a purple aura around them, they then flew up to show that Twilight was under the books reading them. My ears sprung up when I saw her and my mouth seemed to smile a little on it's own.

"Oh, hello there Luna! And Avery! What do you need help with?"

"Well, Avery needs to practice his magic. Maybe you and I could help him with that!"

"Well it seems that you have taken a crash or three Avery, your wings all beaten up..."

"Yeah....I crashed and sprained my wing, luckily I didn't break it."

Twilight put most of the books at her side and put some of them back.

"Well that isn't good! Did you have it checked?"

"Yes he did, as well as being flirted with..."

"Fire Heart?"

"Indeed."

"Well Avery, lets start! I'll get some books for you and all that!"

I watched her as she got everything, books, quills, parchment, ink, and everything else. She was doing this all at once, like she was everywhere at once.

"Alright Avery, Lets start with this..."

Twilight showed me a spell that I already knew, I used it and we moved on to the next one. About five spells later she showed me a new spell that I no idea how to do, I tried but it then backfired and I was sent flying back hitting the wall. Twilight peeled me from the wall and put me back where I was, she then showed me how the spell would look like. After a couple hours of practicing spells and learning new ones, I started to get tired.

"Tired already Avery? Come on, lets do one more spell before we stop."

I nodded my head and looked over at Twilight, but she wasn't there, I looked at Luna but she wasn't there either. I started to look around frantically until I hear a voice from the second floor, Twilight poked her head out from the balcony.

"Come on, use the teleport spell to come up here!" she pulled her head back

"If I remember correctly, I have to picture myself where I need to be in order for it to work....but I haven't been to the second floor yet. Maybe if I picture myself near Twilight it'll work." I thought to myself.

I started to think of me being near Twilight, but then other thoughts began to fill my head making me think of us together. I shook it off just this once and tried to keep that picture in my head as I charged my magic to teleport. There was a flash and a pop and I found myself on the second floor near Twilight. I felt really tired and leaned against her, my eyes were heavy.

"Avery? Are you ok?"

I simply nodded and felt her fur on my head, it was so soft.

"Avery...you are kinda getting close to me..."

I opened up my eyes and sat up with my ears lowered "S-Sorry...."

I felt my head being patted and I looked over to Twilight and she was smiling "It's ok, you must have been really tired for you to just lean on me. You are new to magic so I wouldn't judge."

I smiled a little and she continued "But I do have to leave at eight, back to Ponyville and all that. Maybe you can see me depart on the train."

I nodded and started to wobble, I then started to lean to Twilight again but she used her magic to stop me.

"Alright now, that's starting to be a little too close. Maybe if you-" I then fell asleep, not hearing her anymore.

I wake up in a different part of the castle, I get up and stretch.

"A-Avery?! What are you doing in my room?!"

I looked over where the voice came from and saw that it was Luna, I freaked out and backed up to the wall.

"Well?! What are you doing here?"

"I-I don't know! I just woke up here! I was in the Library last."

"....You're saying that you just woke up in here after being in the library?"

"Yes."

"That doesn't explain why you're here!"

"I don't know myself! ...maybe I sleepwalked here?"

"That would explain it."

"OH, what time is it?!"

"uh...seven fifty-five?"

I then rushed out of Luna's room and started to head out of the castle.

"I can make it just to see her off! I just have to hurry!" I thought to myself

I dashed right past many guards, and Princess Celestia with her saying something in surprise. I dashed out of the castle and tried to fly and completely forgot about my wing and I just landed back on the ground, I then just continued galloping through Canterlot to the train station. I saw the sun setting when I got to the train station, with just a minute to spare. I look around to see that Twilight hasn't gotten on the train yet, I walk over to her.

"Twilight!" I panted

"Oh! Avery! You're here....and you seem tired again."

"I ran all the way here.....what do expect?"

"You could have flown."

I pulled my wing out, showing her that it was still hurt "With this?"

"It's still sprained? Wow...but while you're here, I wanted to give you this"

Her horn started to glow and a book hovered out of her bag and to me, I took it with my magic and looked at the cover. The cover had a heart on it and I looked at it puzzled.

"I thought that this would help you with anything about dates and such in the future, and don't worry it's just a helpful book. Now I need to get on the train before it departs." she turned

I then suddenly said "Wait!"

She turned back to me, I tried to think of something to say.

"Uh....thanks, maybe I'll give you something in the future?"

She smiled and said "That'd be very nice Avery! But I really need to go, see you next time in Ponyville!" she then got on the train.

The train left with a whoosh and was gone, I looked at the book and smiled.

"A book about love? This will help me by a landslide, Cause I don't know squat about anything other than having a crush." I thought to myself.

I went back to the Castle with the book hovering by my side and up to my room. I put thew book on the desk and turned on a lantern and started to read the book. After about a few pages of reading it I slowly fell to sleep, on the book.

Today was a strange day....to me at least.
