Integration

Glacier Breeze and her squad were ordered to head to the left flank of griffins and impede their progress through a gorge. Glacier Breeze as they flew to the west she saw in the east a contingent and she decided to slow the contingent down best she could tell it was about a thousand spears and these soldiers were infantry. As they made their approach and began their dive Glacier gasped and yelled, "Pull out!" At that moment she heard the twang of arrows and bolts, "Roll out and perform evasive maneuvers!" She rolled and barely missed getting hit but saw two griffins chasing her down but they got hit by stray arrows. Using her wings like dive brakes she stopped her dive.

The two griffins dropped past her and weren't slowing down. She dove and barely caught him as they hit the ground. She dropped at impact and felt bones in her body break and she stood and limped and tried to get airborne to save the other griffin. She almost got airborne but crashed to the ground as the griffin hit the cold cave floor, where she and the other griffin had landed. The sound of bones breaking met her ears and she wept because she wasn't able to save him.

With his last breath, the griffin slid his pendant on her neck and gasped, "My brother can protect you when the rescuers get here. You're a good mare, please keep him alive."

"I will, even if it kills me." She silently swore as the griffin passed on. Over the next few days, she fed and kept the other griffin named Graphite alive. She used his signal mirror from his supply pack and had no luck. Finally, she got some luck. She signaled six griffin scouts and as they dove in, she after a few seconds felt something collide with her damaged body. Biting bet lip to keep from screaming, she looked at the eyes of her soon-to-be killer. A spear was thrust straight through her barrel and she did her best to muffle her scream. She has then pulled up the spear shaft and she felt a griffin beak encase her muzzle. Glacier was being forced into a kiss, she complied just to keep
Graphite from moving too suddenly. The soldier paused as he noticed the pendant around Glacier's neck be quickly got the medic to bandage her up and to remove the spear.

In griffin society when an enemy wears the pendant of royalty and evidence that they had saved a life of a family member of that particular House, then they are to be under the protection of that house. Since Graphite was there and his brother's body was there and it was evident that Glacier had done no harm she was spared from execution. The griffins didn't take prisoners, they usually raped them then killed them.

When Graphite was well enough he was furious with what happened to Glacier Breeze he had that soldier executed. In about two days Glacier disobeyed her orders of bed rest and went before the griffin lords and made a suggestion of being under the flag of truce and using her as collateral. The princesses were at first angry for the insubordination from Glacier Breeze but at the same time grateful that Glacier was able to get peace talks going. Glacier in great pain lay on her medical cot with Graphite nearby asking the medics to keep, "That pegasus alive at all costs". Graphite wanted to keep Glacier Breeze alive for his brother's sake since she was under his and his family's protection as long she lived.
