Soaring Emotions
Planning and Shopping
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt had been a week since the show, in that time Rainbow and Soarin arrived in Ponyville by the train and were met with a warm reception, Soarin had moved into Rainbow's house above Ponyville where of course Pinkie had to throw him a welcome party.
The two love birds sat at the kitchen table flipping through a catalog of possible wedding venues. "Oh, how about Las Pegasus?" Soarin asked as he pointed to the hotel in the book.
Rainbow gave it a glance and an audible hum as she pondered. "Nah, too cliché." Rainbow said as she continued to flip through the catalog.
"Yeah, I can't argue with you there." Soarin said as he gave a little chuckle as he browsed the catalog with Rainbow.
While looking through the catalog, nothing really tickled their fancy. As Rainbow sat at the coffee table, Soarin brought her a cup of coffee. Sitting down by her side, he put an arm around her. "Don't worry, we'll think of a place." Soarin said as he took a sip of the coffee.
"I know, it's just that I don't want too big of a wedding, just a few friends and family." Rainbow said as she grabbed a hold of her bug, sipping the hot bean juice as she thought.
"Let's have it here." Rainbow said as her eyes lit up. "I'm sure the mayor will be happy to marry us in city hall." Rainbow continued as she set her mug down.
"Sounds good to me, but what about catering?" Soarin asked.
Rainbow just smiled. "I'll ask Pinkie and AJ to help out on that." She replied as she got out her phone to make the calls.
Rainbow made the call to Mayor Mare, who could squeeze them in two months from now. Rainbow books the appointment and then group calls Pinkie and AJ to give the advance notice.
After making the calls, Rainbow breathes a sigh of relief now that some of the arrangements was taken care of.
"So all that's left are the invitations and getting the tux and dress, right?" Soarin asked as he put his hand on Rainbow's hand.
Curling her fingers around Soarin's hand, Rainbow smiled. "Yes, and I already know the perfect seamstress." Rainbow replied as she finished her coffee.
The next day, Rainbow woke up with Soarin sound asleep, smiling at how cute he looked as she leaned over and kissed his forehead. Getting out of bed she removes her pajamas and into her everyday clothes, walking into the kitchen she prepares a pot of coffee and writes a note to Soarin.
Went over to Rarity's to look for a wedding dress. Coffee is ready, just hit brew. Don't forget to look for a tux, but don't show up when I'm there, don't want bad luck lol. XOXO Love, Dash
Leaving the note on the fridge, Rainbow left the house and locked the door before flying to Carousel Boutique.
Entering the dress shop, Rainbow is greeted by her friend Rarity.
"Rainbow, darling. How are you doing?" Rarity asked, her size E breast peeking out of her dress, her hourglass figure swaying as she walked.
"Pretty good. Thanks." Rainbow replied as she looked at the wedding dresses.
Rarity let out a smile. "I must give my congratulations again, Soarin is a nice stallion, you two look lovely together." Rarity said as she started helping Rainbow out, sensing that was the reason for her being there.
"Thank you, Rarity. And he is. So what do you recommend?" Rainbow asked as she browsed the rack.
Rarity scanned Rainbow from head to toe as she pondered. "Well given your figure I'd recommend the ball gown dress, it fits any figure divinely." Rarity said as she pulled out a pure white dress.
Rainbow looked in awe as she stared at the dress. "It's perfect, how much?" Rainbow asked
Rarity shook her head. "I couldn't ask you to pay, darling." She replied.
Before she could continue, Rainbow interrupted. "But I couldn't ask any of my friends to do any work for free, how about one hundred bits?" Rainbow asked.
Rarity nodded and smiled. "I understand and admire your principles. You really have grown a lot. Deal." Rarity said as she rang her up. "Would you like me to add a train, no extra charge?" Rarity asked as she took Rainbow's bits.
"Sure, but umm could you make it rainbow please?" Rainbow asked as Rarity smiled.
"Of course, darling." Rarity replied as she stuck the dress back. "I'll have it ready in a day." Rarity said as she hugged Rainbow before she left.
The next day, Soarin arrives at Rarity's boutique, just as she sent Rainbow's dress in the mail.
"Ah, Soarin. I assume you're here for a tux?" Rarity asked as he walked up to the counter.
"Yes, I could use a bit of help." Soarin admitted as he rubbed his head, his ring on display.
"Looks like Rainbow got you your ring, it's quite beautiful." Rarity said as she admired the silver and white band.
"Thank you, Rarity. So what tux do you recommend?" Soarin asked, prompting Rarity to come out from behind the counter and help him look.
"Hmmm, I'd recommend this one." Rarity said as she pulled out a pitch-black tux.
Soarin looked at it in awe, as be felt it, the fabric felt comfortable. "I'll take it, how much?" Soarin asked, pulling out his wallet.
"I'll give you the same deal Rainbow gave me, how's one hundred bits sound?" Rarity asked.
"Sounds perfect." Soarin said as he paid for the tux.
"Would you like any add-ons?" Rarity asked as she put the tux in protective plastic.
"No, Thank you. This will do. Soarin politely declined as he took the tux home with him.
When Soarin got home, Rainbow was sitting at the kitchen table, writing out invitations. Soarin silently went up to their room and put his tux in the closet. He sees the box that Windy gave him and figures it was time to give it to Dash.
Picking up the box and coming back downstairs, Soarin joined Rainbow at the table. "Would you like some help?" Soarin asked.
Rainbow smiled and handed him a pen and a premade invite. "Yes please, just write what's on that card." Rainbow said as Soarin handed her the box.
"What's this?" Rainbow asked, confused as she looked at Soarin with an elvish grin.
"Just something to complete your wedding dress." Soarin replied.
Opening the box, Rainbow gasps in shock as she covers her mouth, staring back at her was her mother's wedding veil. Its silk thread shimmered in the light.
"Soarin, where did you get this?" Rainbow asked as her eyes watered.
"I got it when I went to receive your parents' blessings, your mother said you wanted to wear that at your wedding, so she gave it to me to give to you." Soarin replied as Rainbow put the lid back on.
"I can't wait for the day, I'm so happy we'll be spending the rest of our lives together, Soarin." Rainbow replied as she went back to writing.
Rainbow and Soarin sat at their kitchen table, invitation cards spread across the surface. With pen in hand, Soarin writes something down before putting the card in an envelope and sealing it up.
Rainbow does the same, as they sit there,, they can't help but look out the window as they see the sun begin to set. Getting up from their seats, they head outside Rainbow's house, her mailbox now donning the name Soarin.
Soarin stands behind Rainbow, arms wrapped around her waist as they both look out over Ponyville. School-age colts and fillies play with each other as the sun paints the sky red, orange, and yellow.
Leaning her head back and looking at Soarin, Rainbow kisses him on the lips as they prepare for a life together.
"It's going to be a beautiful life." Rainbow said as she waved to a purple-haired filly that was waving at her.
"That it is." Soarin replied as he held Rainbow from behind.
Going back inside they finish writing the invitations and send them off, making sure to save one as a memento. They place the card on the nightstand, written on it are the words.
