April Foals Day
Princess Twilight looks at the calendar out of habit and notices what day today is. “April Foal Day…great the day pony play pranks on one another.” She rolled her eyes at the thought. “I’m too smart to fall for a prank. I’ll see them coming a mile away.” The sound of hooves echoing on the marble floor of Friendship Castle drew her curiosity. Princess Twilight used her alicorn magic to teleport to where the sound was. She appeared in the main area and was nearly bumped into as Rarity shot past her in a mad gallop. “Rarity?”
“Excuse me, darling. I’ll be right back.” She said running towards the many bathrooms inside Friendship Castle.
Did Rarity look a little…green? “Spike is Rarity, okay?” She asked her now older Spike who was still in the main area.
He’d watched Rarity runoff. Spike let out a sigh, standing upright he was as tall as Twilight’s adult alicorn form. “She’s been like this for a few weeks now. Running off to the bathroom every morning.”
Princess Twilight could see bags under the dragon's eyes, she tilted her head to the side. “Every morning huh?”
“Yes, every morning.” Spike said rubbing the sides of his head. The lack of sleep was getting to him.
“Spike I know what today is.” Princess Twilight said lifting an eyebrow. I bet Spike’s in on it and they both planned it together.
Spike looked at Twilight. “What do you mean Twi?”
“Duh, Spike. It’s April Foals Day.” Princess Twilight said with a grin and nudged Spike on the shoulder. Her grin faded when Spike didn’t say anything, she decided to play along. “Think about it, Spike. Tell me has Rarity had any strange cravings?”
Spike thought for a second. Twilight’s losing her mind. “Well…Rarity has been wanting more of her favorite oats and vanilla ice cream.”
“Really?” Twilight asked hearing the seriousness in her voice. She kept repeating what day it was in her head. That has to be it. Spike appears to be totally clueless…right?
“Yes, really.” Spike was starting to wonder about the day himself and Rarity’s unusual actions.
“And today is what Spike, I know I’ve already said it.”
“April Foals.” Spike scratched his chin with his claw.
Twilight could see that Spike was starting to put the pieces together. “I see we’re on the same page now.” She said.
“So, what are you thinking Twilight? Rarity’s been playing a prank on…me…or both of us?”
“I have no clue,” Twilight replied. “Look how long you two have been together...together.” She reminded Spike.
Spike couldn’t help but grin a little. “Yes, I know Rarity can be overdramatic at times, it’s one of the many things I love about her.” He said knowing that Twilight knew this fact.
When Rarity came back into the main room. Twilight kept her eyes on her. There was defiantly something off about her. If it wasn’t for what today was…I’d almost believe it. Believe that she was…
“Spike, can I speak to you in private?” Rarity asked coming up beside Spike.
“Sure, Rarity,” Spike replied as Rarity lead him into one of the adjacent rooms from the main area of Friendship Castle.
This left Princess Twilight alone with her thoughts. A strange memory kept bugging her. She’d tried to push it away earlier, but the memory finally won.
"Twilight!" A much older Spike came running out of his bedroom in a panic into the main area of Friendship Castle.
The lavender alicorn turned to him. "What's wrong Spike?" She could see the concern on his face.
"Twilight, I dreamed I was eating a really good marshmallow, when I woke up Rarity was gone!" Spike fell to his knees.
It was then that Rarity came out of the kitchen with a lovely cup of hot tea held in her magical aura. "Whatever's going on Twilight?"
"Oh, Spike's flipping out cause he thought he ate you last night."
"But Twilight, he did darling."
Princess Twilight's neck popped as she looked at Rarity then back to Spike. "WHAT?!"
Princess Twilight shook her head to make the memory stop. "No. No. No. It's April Foals Day right” She used her alicorn magic to produce a calendar out of thin air right in front of her. She checked the date. “I knew it was.” She let out a snort. “Good prank you two. Really good prank.” Her breathing became labored. “Really had me going. It's a prank. Right? RIGHT?”

"Rarity we need to talk," Spike said as Rarity turned around and sat down facing him.
"I would say so my darling Spikey-Wikey."
Spike was about to ask if she was indeed pregnant when he noticed a glow coming from her body.
"Um...Spikey-Wikey precious scales-” Rarity paused in what she was saying.
Spike knew that line of pet names meant it was something serious. It’s…just April Foals Day… It couldn’t be. He about laughed; he was starting to think like how Twilight had started flipping out earlier. He came up behind her and pulled her in a hug and kissed her on the cheek. “Rarity what is going on? I know something is very different, I’ve known you for years.”
Rarity smiled at him. “Darling, Um about earlier when I ran off to the bathroom…” She couldn't help her cheeks from turning pink.
“Yeah, you’ve been sick for some mornings now. Twilight thinks it’s an April Foals Day prank.” He took in a breath and added. “She thinks your…pregnant.”
“Spikey, I actually am, and this isn’t a prank." She whispered in his ear frill. Pulling back she smiled with tears of joy in her eyes. "Love, I’m sorry. I just didn't know how to go about telling you."
Spike's jaw hit the floor. “I’m going to be a father?” He fell flat on his back with a loud thud, eyes closed. A big grin was on his face.
“Rarity what was that sound just now?” Princess Twilight asked hearing the echoing thud come from the room Rarity and Spike was in.

I am working on part two of this. I woke up before 5 a.m. this morning and had to write down some ideas for the second part. Kind of an odd time, but that's ideas for ya!
YOU DID THIS!
"Spike! Get your adult size purple scaly hide in here this minute!" Rarity's voice hit an octave with an added bite to it.
Spike simply smiled he'd gotten used to Rarity flipping out like this. He had been lying stretched out on the couch in the main area of Carousel Boutique. "Yes, dear." He glanced down at the ring on his left clawed finger. I remember Shining Armor talking about going through this with Cadence. He thought while rolling off the couch and walking to the bedroom on all fours.
"Spike, what is taking so long?" Rarity’s voice echoed off the walls
Spike could feel the glare even though he could see her face yet. He poked his head into the room and found Rarity laying on their large bed. The ring over her horn had caught the sunlight from the window its jewels sparkling. "Yes-" Spike dodge the pillow that sailed past his head. Yup, another mood swing. Spike didn't hide the grin; he had his wings open and managed to catch the pillow. It had bounced off and he caught it in his claw. “Again with the pillows?”
Rarity was laying in the center of their large bed. The bed was practically covered end to end with pillows or as Spike had come to call them projectiles. “You did this to me, it’s all your fault Spike-” The sound of Spike’s laughter had Rarity narrowing her eyes at her husband. "Your laughing! Spike, I don’t believe it.”
Spike took in a breath and dabbed a tear from his eyes. “How is this all my fault? Were you not involved as well? As I recall it takes two too-” He felt a pillow come upside his head with Rarity using her magical aura to turn it into a projectile. “Look, Rare, it shouldn’t be too much longer." Rising on his back legs, he walked up to her carrying both pillows. “So, what’s the crisis of the hour?” He kept a smile on his face.
Rarity raised a hoof and rubbed her now swollen stomach. “Our little darling is in another kicking match.”
Spike felt a cringe run through his body. Without his hard scales, he knew his back would be in far more pain. Rarity liked to sleep right up next to him at night. “Believe me I know she’s most active at night,” Spike replied laying down next to her in bed. He wrapped most of his body around her and laid his head on Rarity’s stomach. Sure enough, he could feel movement. He felt what look like a hoof push up and tap him on the chin. Spike lifted his head and shook it. “Kid got strength, must come from me.” He said puffing out his chest a little.
Rarity couldn’t help but laugh at their child kicking Spike in the chin and what he just said. “The kid will have my magic as well Spikey.”
“To do what? Throw pillows at me?” Spike said and dodged yet another pillow aimed at his face and managed to catch it with his long tail. I’m getting good at this. He flicked his tail and the pillow landed right on top of Rarity’s head. “Uh…I didn’t mean to do that.” Spike said cringing a bit. He’d noticed her magic was now even more powerful that normal. Could be due to the kid’s magic. He managed to get out of bed and a barrage of pillows sailed his way. Ducking and dodging he kept that same warm loving smile. When the last pillow flew off the bed, Spike managed to grab her hooves in his claws. “Rarity.”
She looked into those dark green eyes of his and knew that smile. “No, I’m still mad at you.” She tried to look away yet found herself unable to do so. She could see all her pillows thrown about the room. “…you did this-”
Spike ran a claw along her cheek causing her breath to catch a bit. “Rarity.”
Rarity could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks. “Spikey.” She shot back and found the muscles in her narrowed eyes straining to keep their hold.
“No matter how many pillows you throw, or mood swings you go through. I’m not going to love you any less. If anything it’ll make me love you even more. It’s one of the countless reasons I married you Rarity. Remember?”
Rarity felt herself crack, her narrowed eye softened and a grin came to her lips.
“There’s the Rarity I married,” Spike said kissing her on the lips. Pulling back he smoothed out the tuffs of mane that had fallen over her face while she’d been throwing pillows. “Don’t worry I’ll pick all the pillows up.” He started to move away from her when her hooves came around his neck keeping him in place.
“I should be the one, these mood swings get the better of me, darling.” Rarity said summoning up her now stronger magic. The pillows started to gather above them surrounded by her magical aura. She felt her magic straining a bit from how she’d used it earlier.
The room around them was plunged into darkness as the mass of pillows came crashing down on them.
“Well…of…all….the…” Rarity’s muffled voice came from under the pillows.
Spike stood up taking several pillows with him as they fell like boulders in a rockslide. The movement had uncovered Rarity’s head. She lifted her head and found that Spike was picking up the pillows that had fallen off the bed. He was about to pick up one of the last two pillows when a loud sound came from Rarity.
“Um…darling…I think we have a…”
Spike glanced down at the bed and noticed that some of the pillows had a darker color. His gaze shot back to Rarity. “Did you’re water…”
“I think so darling-”
Spike had her in his arms and was out the window before Rarity could finish what she was saying. He was flying for the nearest hospital.

I might do a part three to this, with even more comedy, having a fire-breathing foal who's half-dragon half unicorn would be quite comical.
