Spike’s heart was thumping out of his chest as he followed the echoing wails of his child down the dark halls, the only light he had was the Blood Staff.

The thoughts going through his mind, fearing what exactly was happening to Iggy. The thought of whatever just happened outside or whatever hell Sombra was making the baby go through.

“Igneous! hold on, it's daddy, I’m coming!” Spike called out.

The wails continued, it seemed to reverberate all over the place. Spike could hear the building itself rumbling from the cries.

As Spike followed where the source of the cries were, he noticed that there weren’t any more thralls, he didn’t see the large Cerberus his mate had fought before. No one else was there to stop him.

Surely this must be another trap set by Sombra, right?

However, the way these cries were going on didn’t sound like it was fake.

Just what was happening to him?!

As soon as Spike turned a corner and was finally able to catch the baby’s scent, he was full on sprinting down the darkness.

Racing down a flight of stairs, feeling the building shook more and the wails were getting louder and louder.

It took Spike a moment to realize each time he heard the wail, it was a shockwave.

By the time he ran down the stairs, there was a blast of light coming out of an open chamber. Bones of various creatures lay waste all over the hall and crowded doorway.

Another wail and the building shook. Spike saw a shockwave of light slamming out.

The Dragonlord raced to the chamber. “Igneous!” He shouted through the blistering wind.

Inside of the chamber in the center of the room was Igneous. He was in a cage, a cage that was much smaller than he was. His eyes were glowing and had his magic consuming him.

Surrounding him was this build up of pure light, keeping what looked to be living shadows away. The shadows were trying to get to him.

The shadows tried to break through the light, only to have Iggy wail more and the shockwave. It blasted away the shadows, but it also hit Spike.

Spike barely had enough time to throw his arms up to protect himself. The force of the wave was enough to push him out of the chambers. The burning sensation was all over his body, feeling pieces of his armor melting and the shock caused his scales themselves to rattle.

When the shockwave subside, Spike quickly ripped some of the armor pieces off before racing into the chambers again.

“GET AWAY FROM MY SON!!” Spike roared, raising his staff and blasted the shadows away. Hearing them screech in pain and for a moment they left.

But they would not stop trying to get to Iggy.

Iggy sends another shockwave. Spike used his magic this time to protect himself from the wave.

“Iggy!” Spike called out to him. Fighting against the wave, he began to push forward towards the baby.

It became a pattern, each time the wave stopped, Spike would try and keep the shadows back and goes to protect himself each time the wave hit him. It would scoot him back some but Spike would keep on pushing through. Each time calling out for Iggy, trying to get his attention. There were just too much shadows to fight against.

Snarling, Spike finally slams the staff to the ground, using his magic once more, the gem turns white and lit up the whole chamber.

This light was so bright, the shadows let out hellish screams before disappearing completely, but he didn’t know for how long.

Using this time to get closer to the baby.

Spike got down on his knees, he held the staff with his tail to tend to the cage. “Igneous, hold on, I’m going to get you out.” He said quickly.

He goes to touch the bars, the metal was so hot it burned his hands. He let out a hiss, gritting his teeth, he continued to work on opening the damn thing.

During his cries and burrage of tears, Iggy finally looks up and sees Spike. His hands reached out for him, wanting to get out.

After a few tries, Spike finally was able to break the cage open. He reaches in, grabs the baby and brought him in for the biggest hug he had ever given to a baby.

Iggy wrapped his tiny arms around his father and clung to him, coughing and crying in joy.

“I got you now, I got you.” Spike’s voice cracked as he held his boy. Kissing the side of his head, relief washing over him now, tears racing down his face as he stood up. “You’re safe now, it’s going to be okay..”

Clinging to his baby for dear life, Spike quickly ran out of the chambers. As soon as he stepped out with the lit staff, the shadows returned.

And they were after the two.

Iggy buried his face in his father’s neck, eyes squeezed shut. Not wanting to look at the shadows no more.

Spike constantly ran, refusing to look back, mustering his powers to keep the light shining from the staff as he got out of there.

Racing up the stairs, retracing each step he took to reach back to the exit. Stepping over his still knocked out squad he’ll get back to later.

Once he got out of the dungeons, the shadows stopped following them.

They were near the home stretch. Just had to get Iggy out of this hellhole and finally end this battle once and for all. But the main thing was to get this baby out of here.

As Spike crosses into the center of the chateau, he finds a trail of blood. He stopped, took a big sniff and his teeth showed as he snarled.

Sombra…

Spike just happened to look up to see the injured tyrant slipping down another corridor.

He knew what he had to do now.

He held his boy close as he raced to the entrance, going through the door just in time to see Rachel coming towards them.

The second she saw her son, Rachel broke down and raced to him.

“Iggy!” Rachel cried out. Spike quickly passed him to his mother and she wrapped her arms around the baby.

Iggy wailed in joy, hugging his mom, happy to see her again.

“My baby! Oh my sweet boy!” Rachel sobbed, showering Igneous with kisses, taking in his scent.

“I just saw Sombra sulking inside.” Spike said. As emotional as he was, things weren’t finished.

Rachel looked at him, though so happy that her baby was in her arms again, she saw the look on his face.

He didn’t say anything, he didn’t have to, but she knew what Spike was about to do.

“Spike, no, we take him down together.” Rachel told him, her tone was sharp.

Spike shook his head. “You did what you’re meant to do, its my turn to finish this.”

“Spike, we can-” Rachel was cut off when there was more rumbling coming from the building. The entire field was shifting.

“We’re running out of time, take Iggy and get as far away from here as possible. I’ll end this. Its the only way this ends once and for all. Someone has to stay with our son, and I rather it be you. You did your job, I have to do mine.” Spike said, looking back inside.

He knew Sombra was heading for the bomb, he had to finish this.

“Spike, I just got you back. I’m not going to lose you again!” Rachel pleaded.

“You won’t lose me. I plan on coming back. Do you trust me?” Spike looked into her eyes.

Tears filled her eyes, knowing that he was right. “You better fucking come back to us.” She tells him.

Before he could kiss her, alarms started to echo around the building.

“GO!” Spike shouted.

Rachel gasps when she heard the alarms, clinging to her son. When Spike told her to go, she forced herself to turn on her hooves and took off with their son.

Spike watched them disappear to the battlefield, knowing that they’ll be safe.

“You did your job…” Spike muttered before turning back to the rumbling chateau. His eyes glowed. “It’s time I do mine.”
