Chapters Ch.1:Following the Pink Mare
James Frost,a male with brown hair and blue eyes,sighed as he received another turned down opportunity.Life was hard as a twenty year old who doesn't have any skills besides being good at sports and video games.Oh well,at least he still had his grandparents who let him stay so long as he helped take care of the upkeep of the house.
In the state of Mississippi,it was hard for most people to find places to hire him.'Well time to tell Gram and Gramps the bad news'thought James as he continued to drive down the road.Things were peaceful today until he saw something in the corner of his eye that caught his interest.Over to the side,was,I kid you not,a pink pony with big blue eyes the size of dinner plates.
"Either that's a pink pony or I'm high off my ass right now"said James as continued to stare.
He wiped his eyes to make sure he wasn't hallucinating only to find that the pony disappeared.
After James parked his 1978 mustang in front of the house,he was greeted by the site of his grandfather drinking a beer while fishing at the dock at the pond.He chuckled as he saw his grandpa wearing his old lucky fisherman hat that he found one day when he was a kid.It looked goofy on him but he would always argue to James that it was really was lucky even if it did look weird on him.
"How was the interview,James?"asked his grandpa as he saw him walking towards him.
"Well they kinda said I was no good.I'm kinda starting to believe them about now."admitted James.
"Now you listen here,boy.You aren't worthless.You are unique and they are making a big mistake not hiring you."said Gramps as he took a swig of his Miller Lite.
"Tell that to them and they would laugh straight in your face."
His grandfather sighed as he looked at his grandson with a sad smile.
"You make this look hard,James.It really isn't.Life is kinda like fishing.You win some and you lose some,but when you have an opportunity hooked on the line make sure you reel her in.That reminds have seen any pretty lasses that caught your eye,son?"
James laughed at that and answered his question shyly.
"Gramps,you know I'm not good at the whole dating thing.Besides why so interested in this topic anyways?"
"I want great grandchildren you know.I ain't getting any younger neither is your grandmother."
"What about Robert and his kids?"James asked when he remember his brother.
"I meant kids who have sense in them not hooligans.I swear that boy doesn't know how to raise a kid.I wonder sometimes if he even feeds them right or takes them to school."
"Well they must be getting their education from someplace,right?Robert isn't exactly a bright guy."stated James with a smirk.
"Well that is true,I suppose.Well I won't bother you so go ahead and head inside.Your grandmother is in town right now so I'm sure she'll be eager to here how things went once she gets back."
James nodded to his grandfather and headed inside the house.The house itself was nicely furnished and was built back in 1955.Now it has been modernized with better electricity and cleaner well water.Anyways,he grabbed a snack from the kitchen and headed into his room where his playstation 4 was.He started the system and played some God of War almost beating the game until he heard something near his window.
James looked over and shrugged,but it happened again which caused him to sigh.
"Gramps,this better not be one of your pranks!"yelled James aloud.
Eventually he got curious so he decided to investigate the noise.He looked out the window to see if he saw anything.His eyes wander until they stopped on something familiar.It was the pink pony from before.He climbed out his window and decided to walk towards the pony only for it run further into the woods.
"WAIT!"yelled James as he followed after it.
He continued after it as it led him through bunch of branches and leaves hitting him in the face.He wondered why a pink pastel pony with alienlike eyes was doing in Mississippi of all places.His thoughts was interrupted when he heard a loud female voice whisper to him.
"Pssspt!Over here,silly billy!"
He raised a brow at that and reluctantly followed.
"If you say so,mysterious voice"said James who looked rather unnerved by what was possibly the pony speaking to him.
Man,is Gramps gonna be laughing his ass off once he returns home and telling him that he followed a talking pink pony into the woods.Speaking of which,the mare in question continued to lead him into every weird direction to take into these
"HEY!LOOK THIS HAS BEEN FUN BUT I NEED TO HEAD HOME!BYE STRANGE TALKING PONY THING!"James yelled towards the direction of the pony.
"WAIT DON'T GO!I HAVE A SURPRISE WAITING FOR YOU,JAMES"
'Wait how the fuck did she know my name.This is so weird.'thought James.
"OKAY!JUST DON'T KILL AND EAT ME!I'M NOT TASTY AT ALL!"He yelled back.
"OKEI DOKI LOKI!"She responded.
She signaled him to follow him when her hoof came out of nowhere.Damn this is like some looney tunes shit this mare is pulling.She might give Bugs Bunny a run for his money.Once they reached their destination,the mare stood in front of a old mossy stone well.Before could ask her,why they were here,she jumped into the well causing James to freak out.He ran up to well to find not water but some weird portal inside.He backed up from it and only to have a pink hoof pull him in.Everything went dark after that.

Ch.2:Welcome to Equestria
James awoke as he heard voices talking back and forth towards each other causing him to groan.
"Shhhhhhh!Guys,he's waking up!"exclaimed the pink mare's voice.
"Darling,are you sure bringing him here was a good idea?"said a more formal one.
"I'm postive,Rarity!He seemed extremely sad!I even followed him to where he lived a couple of days ago as I was watching him!"she replied.
'WTF.That's some shit a fucking serial killer would say!'thought James as he continued to listen to the girls talk to the crazy pink mare.
"That super creepy even for you Pinkie."said a tomboyish girl.
James agreed with her.How the fuck did he never notice her before today?
"Calm down,Rainbow Dash.I reckon Pinkie had her heart in the right place."said some redneck hick.
"Well can't really complain he is kinda hot for a human."Rainbow Dash stated.
'Wait a girl I don't know thinks I'm hot?'James thought as he opened his eyes to see.....well more ponies!
"Rainbow Dash?!"yelled the white mare named Rarity who looked flabbergasted.
"What?!I was being honest!Right,Applejack?!"explained Rainbow who was a rainbow maned mare.
"Well I'm the element of honesty so I can tell you're telling the truth,sugar."said the hick called Applejack who was giving her friend a sly smile.
James looked at them and groaned again.
"I'm right here you know?!Besides why is everybody here look like a miniature horse?!"complains James.
"That's a weird question,silly!Oh I got one!Why do you look like some hairless monkey?!"asked the pink mare who the reason he was here in the first place.
James didn't know if she was being a smartass or trying to be funny.Either way,he gave her that one.
"Touche.Now how do you know about me and why did I follow you here in the first place?"asked James honestly.
"Well duh!You followed me here!Not the other way around!And you did leave your window open a lot at your house."
"YOU WERE STALKING ME?!HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN STALKING ME?!"exclaimed James who looked terrified now.
"Only for a while!I tried to stop this one time but got curious when you were playing with something inside your pants!"stated Pinkie with a big smile on her face he has ever seen.
"YOU FUCKING WATCHED ME MASTERBATE?!"
Rainbow snickered at that while Rarity looked disturbed by such an action while Applejack just fanned herself with her hat.James grumbles as he glares at his stalker.
"How would you feel if somebody watched you masterbate?!Huh?!"he yelled.
"Why are being such a meanie pants today?!"she yelled.
"I wouldn't be if you weren't watching me jerk off!"
"ENOUGH!"yelled a new voice.
He looked over to see a purple mare with wings coming over with a baby lizard looking thing following her.
"And who in Atom's glory are you?!"James demanded.
"HA!HE SAID THE THING!"yelled Pinkie.
The others looked at her weird since they did not know what the fuck the pink mare was talking about.James pinched his nose in frustration and look at the winged pony once he calmed down.
"Listen just tell me where I am and how I can get back."
"I'm sorry but it would seem the portal Pinkie and you used disappeared once you two came through.The portal was made thousand years ago by Starswirl the Bearded and it won't open until another thousand years.Sorry if that isn't the news you wanted but you are welcome to stay in Equestria.By the way I'm Princess Twilight Sparkle and this is my assistant Spike.My sincere apology by the way.I didn't know Pinkie would use the Magic Well when I informed her not to."explained the purple winged mare who introduced herself as Twilight as she gave a glare at her pink friend who just whistled and looked the other way.
James sighed and nodded."No.I understand and I'm not angry at you guys."
"YAY!"Pinkie cheered.
"EXCEPT YOU,YOU PINK PYSCHO!
"BUT WHY? I THOUGHT WE WERE CLOSE FRIENDS JAMES! I EVEN WATCHED YOU PLAY WITH YOUR PEE-PEE!"She replied.
"OKAY ONE:WHAT THE FUCK!AND TWO:ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?! I ALMOST DIED GETTING HERE?!"
"I-It was only a couple of branches on some small trees...."she reasoned.
"BULLSHIT!I FELL ON MY ASS WHEN MY FOOT CAUGHT ONTO A ROOT THEN YOU PULLED ME INTO A MAGICAL WELL WHICH SHOT US 50 FEET THROUGH THE FUCKING AIR INTO PONY LAND!NOW MY ASS HURTS!"
"GUYS!I SAID ENOUGH OF THE YELLING!"Twilight screamed.
"I swear you guys argue like a married couple."commented Spike.
James got up and looked at Twilight.
"Look I'm sorry for yelling but I don't want to be near her for awhile.You understand,right?She scares me the fuck out of me.So I guess I have no choice but to stay here since I can't go home until another thousand years.But I will be long gone before that ever happens.So sadly this is my new home.Which also mean I got nowhere to live."
Then Rainbow spoke up.
"Hey you can stay with me if you want.I don't bite....much."
James realize she's flirting with him which causes him to turn red in the cheeks.He nervously scratches the back of his head as he gathers the courage to speak.
"You sure?I don't want to be a burden to you."
Rainbow Dash gives him a smirk and shakes her head.
"You won't!I swear!I would love to have a nice strong stallion like yourself to cuddle up too."
He was about to respond until Twilight remembered something.
"Rainbow,I don't think he can.Only pegasus can walk on clouds,remember?He would need the cloud walking spell casted on him.Sadly it doesn't last more than a day."
Rainbow looked peeved by that.
"Drat!"
Applejack snickered at her dismay.
"Well thanks for offer,Rainbow.I appreciate it."replied James then he frowned."So I guess I don't have a place to stay."
Twilight then replied."Not exactly."
"What do you mean?"
"You could always stay with me in the castle.I got plenty of rooms and I'm sure my student wouldn't mind.Spike wouldn't care either,would you Spike?"
"Nope."Spike replied simply.
James scratched his chin in thought and shrugged.
"Well better than nothing.Lead the way.I guess."
Twilight beamed in excitement when she listed off the things she learn from him which kinda overwhelmed him. Suddenly James thought back to his grandparents who were probably worried sick finding him while also thinking he probably ran away.He hoped they find a way to get that portal to open quicker or else he's doomed to stay here for eternity.

Ch.4:A Heartwarming Date with Starlight
James put on the dress shirt Rarity made for him and smiled in the mirror.
"Well no time like the present"he said as he walked down the hall to see Starlight waiting for him.She sees him coming towards her and smiles.
"Hey,James!I'm very excited for this date.You look handsome in that shirt by the way."
"You don't look too bad yourself,Star."James said with smirk.
She blushed at his compliment and decided to ask where they were going.
"It's a surprise."he said simply.
She rolled her eyes playing along with his game as they both head into town.He walked into a store that kite in the showcase window.
"Twilight told me you liked kites so I thought we can go to the park after this so we can fly our kites."
He payed for a black/yellow one for himself and bought Starlight a purple/cyan one.Both kites being around 10 bits.Once they had their kites,they headed towards the park where many ponies was enjoying Celestia's sun shining and the wind blowing.They found an empty spot where they let their kites into air with them holding on to the handle.They focused on their kites until Starlight broke the silence.
"I loved flying kites as a kid.It helped me not to think back on some bad memories.Like I was free like the kite was."
"Did you ever make up with Sunburst?Twilight said you and him used to be friends before he left when you two were just kids.So did you ever find him?"James asked wondering about the mare's childhood friend.
"I did actually.It was awkward at first but we caught up.Strange how I went from a person who created a cult to being the Starlight he remembered as a kid."she said as she frowned at the thought.
"Well they say time helps heal scars or at least my grandfather always said that.Crazy old coot."
Starlight laughed as he joined her.They eventually calmed down and let out a sigh.
"You know your grandfather does sound wise,James.Maybe you should listen to what he says."Starlight commented.
"Yeah his advice was the reason I decided to ask you out.I never had a girlfriend before so I hope I'm doing okay."
Starlight playfully nudges him as she reassures him.
"Don't worry,James.I had fun today.Usually I hang out with Trixie but a boyfriend might be a good idea to get me out of the castle more."
"Same.I feel like I want to do more with my life,you know.I want people to rely on me when things get rough and for people to look up to me. "James said as he looked at the sky with a sense of wonder in his eyes.
Starlight leaned on his shoulder which caused him to go stiff and look at her.She then gave her two bits on his statement.
"Sounds like you want to be a hero."
He nodded to that and look back down at her.
"Yeah,you're right.A hero."
"And I could be your princess."she said with a playful smirk.
"And I would save you from the tower and defeat the evil dragon.Then we would make sweet love under the sunset."
She blushed and laughed.
"That too."
They continued to enjoy flying their kites right up until it started to rain.There they rushed back to castle completely soaked and wet.
"Well it looks like you two had a good time."
James nodded as they were handed towels by Twilight's magic.
"Star?Did you need something?"
She looked down qt her hooves and back at him as she answered."I know this is probably too fast but would you mind we cuddled tonight.I don't want to be alone anymore."
"Sure you can.You don't have to ask me that,Star.I really like you.You know that,right?"James said.
"Yeah.I know,big guy.I just wanted to see what you thought if the idea.I never dated anybody before so like you I hope I'm doing everything right as well."
James smiled and motioned at the door."Well my room can be your room as well.I felt that my bed was missing something or sonepony."He winked at her which made laugh at his antics.
"Well I'm right here so let's head to bed while Luna still has the moon up."Starlight said.
"Agreed."James said.
They walked into the room as James undressed into just his shirt and boxers.He laid on the bed as Starlight jump up on the bed as well.He petted her mane as he stared into her beautiful eyes in marvel.She sighed happily as she laid her head on his chest.
"You know,James.That thing you said about being hero.I think you should go for it,I mean there are always a need for a royal guard.Who knows maybe you can be one of the princesses' personal guard ."
He raised a curious brow at that."Just how many princesses are there?"
Starlight hummed in thought as she began to list them off.
"Aren't you worried about my safety?"asked James with a sly smirk.
She gave him a look which made him do a double take.
"What?"
"Who said I wouldn't be worried about you?Besides I'm going with you."Starlight said.
"Really?But what about your friendship lessons and the others?"
"I'm just about finished with my lessons besides we can visit the others."she said in a matter of fact voice."Plus I can talk to Sunburst some more."
James agreed with her points and decided he will ask Princess Cadance to be her personal guard.
Ch.5:The Sleeping Angel And Dirty Dogs
As James awoke to the most amazing site in his life as he had Starlight laying on his chest peacefully sleeping.He thought back to what they talked about last night.They knew they were probably going way too fast in their new relationship but they needed each other more than ever.
He didn't know whether or not if he wanted to wake her up or not.Deciding to let her sleep,he got up and put on his clothes then headed towards Rarity.On the way,he had drew his ideal clothing that expressed who he wanted to be in this world.He knocked on Rarity's door to which he got a"come in!"from her.He walked inside to see her working on some kind of dress.She looked up from her and smiled when she saw James.
"James!How are you,darling?"
"I'm good,Rarity.How are you?I hope I didn't disturb you."James said.
"Not at all.Please tell me what brings you here."
He takes out the sketch of his outfit which also describes the color and the materials needed.Rarity looks it over and nods.
"I think I can do it.I just need to take your measurements dear."
He stands still as she takes some measuring tape and writes down all the measurements.She then stops and puts away the tape.
"Done.It should be done by tomorrow."Rarity stated.
"Tommorow is fine.Thanks Rarity.Just tell me how much and I can pay you the amount."
Rarity shook her head smiling at him.
"Darling,we're friends.I wouldn't charge a friend.Besides consider this our little project since I get to work with a different body type.That alone is enough payment for making this."
James smiles and thanks the fashion mare.
"Thanks,Rare.I really appreciate this."
"No problem,dear.Now you really shouldn't keep a lady waiting."said Rarity with a knowing smile.
He then looked at her confused.
"Uh what do you mean,Rarity?"
"I mean Starlight,dear.You know your lover."Rarity reminded.
"Oh right.I let her sleep in while I brought this over to you.She looked too peaceful to wake up.Kinda like an angel."
Rarity looked like she was fangirling when James said that.
He figured the best experience was the one self learn from trial and error.So he went to Town Hall and decided to ask if there were any bounties or something that will benefit the town.Mayor Mare looked through her files to see if she could find anything to which she eventually did.But it wasn't what he expected.
"Unfortunately,we only have some complaints about some missing mail but that's about it.Sorry."said Mayor Mare who gave him a sad smile.
He sighed and nodded his thanks.
"James!Thank goodness we found you!My sister and her friends are missing!We can't find them anywhere!We really need your help!"
'Wait,the Cutie Mark Crusaders are missing?!'thought James as he put on a serious face.
"Do you know what kind of crusading they said they were doing by any chance?"he asked.
Rainbow then spoke up.
"I think they said something about jewel finders."
Rarity then gasped when she heard that.She then looked at you and the others.
"You don't think they went into Diamond Dog territory,do you?"
James's eye widen remembering reading about how dangerous Diamond Dogs are.He looked at his friends and made his decision.This was his opportunity to prove himself.
"Then I'll go up there alone to find them."
Applejack gave him a worried look and spoke up.
"Sugar,it will be mighty dangerous going near them Diamond dogs by your lonesome.Are you sure you don't need our help?"
"No.I need you guys to be here just in case they come back.I'll go see if they are okay up there.Hopefully they are still up there collecting jewels."
"Well okay,girls you heard the man.Let's be on lookout for the crusaders.Rainbow,I want you search up ahead near the Everfree.Rarity,keep an ear open.Good luck,James.And be careful."
He nodded and ran towards the direction of the Diamond Dog territory.Once there,he tried to see if he saw the girls anywhere digging for jewels only to come up with no results.Seeing no other option,he loaded the pistol chamber on his rapier and he eventually found a hole that led deep underground.
'Must be where they set up their hideout.Something tells me they took the girls in there.'thought James as he crawl into the hole.
Inside he heard a bunch of yelling and some familiar voices.
"Wait until my sister gets here,you varmin!She'll kick your butt!"yelled Applebloom.
"Shut up,you little brat!"yelled one of the Diamond Dogs.
James came out of hiding and pointed his rapier at them.
"Don't move,you dirty dogs!Let the children go or else!"
"James!"yelled Sweetiebelle.
"Oh yeah!Now you guys are screwed!"yelled Scootaloo.
"Kick their ass,James!"yelled Applebloom.
Her friends looked at her shocked at her language.
"What?I just want him to win is all."
The Diamond Dog leader laughed at James.He was bigger than the others.
"Stupid puny human!You're outnumbered!"
"Number isn't always important you know!Not when you can outsmart your opponents!"James declared.
"Bold words for one who will die."
James glared at him.
"I won't be the one who will die."
James shot the leader in the eye causing him to howl in pain.The leader held his eye and glared at his followers gesturing to attack James.
"GET HIM!GET THE PUNY HUMAN!"
They charged at James as he fought and killed as much of the Diamond dogs as he could only to have the leader claw him across the right side of his face leaving three bloody claw marks.James cried out in agony.
"JAMES!"cried out the crusaders as they watched in horror.
James killed the last Diamond Dog only leaving the leader to take down.He breathe very heavily as he felt like passing out.He fell on the ground dropping his bloody sword.
"You did well,human.Better than any pony or griffin,but now you die."
The leader grabbed the sword off the ground and prepared to strike down James with his own weapon.
"NO!YOU LEAVE JAMES ALONE,YOU MEANIE!"yelled Applebloom.
"Shut up!Now any last words,James?"asked the Diamond Dog Leader who surprisingly said his name instead of 'puny human'.
He was about to tell him to fuck off only for another voice to speak for him.
"Yeah!You pissed off the wrong mare today!"yelled Starlight.
James looked surprised so did the Diamond Dog Leader as he was shot across the room with one of Starlight's spells.He smiled as he watched the fucker hit the wall hard,but he then realized he still felt like shit.James coughed up blood causing Starlight to run over to him.He was about to make a one liner only for her to grab his face roughly.
"WHAT IN TARTURAS WERE YOU THINKING,JAMES?!YOU COULD HAVE DIED?!"
"W-Well I figured it was me or them.Good thing it was them."James laughed weakly causing Starlight to get angry at him.
"THIS ISN'T FUNNY,JAMES!I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO BE ALONE AGAIN!NOT TO MENTION YOU WEREN'T THERE WHEN I WOKE UP!HOW DO YOU THINK I FELT WHEN YOU WEREN'T HOME!"
James then felt terrible and hugged her tightly.He felt tremble at his touch as she held onto him for dear life.
"I'm sorry,Starlight.I won't scare you like that again."
She looked at him with a teary face.
"Y--You better not,mister.I don't want to be the marefriend variant of a widow."
He chuckled and kissed her on the lips which surprised Starlight.She eventually accepted the kiss and kissed back.That day James learned a valuable lesson which he dwell on when returning to Ponyville with the crusaders in tow.What's the lesson you may wonder?
That he needed to get stronger and that Diamond Dogs suck donkey dick.
After James left the hospital for getting his scars disinfected,he made it a personal mission of his to get stronger for Starlight and their friends.He started reading more books on magic and trying to solve how he can use it.It was tricky since magic seemed more difficult to explain even in a book.So he got help from Twilight and she got excited to try and teach him magic.
They started with a simple spell.Levitation.They tried it on apple.The idea was to imagine grabbing the apple through the air while also trying reach out to the magic flowing through his body. Twilight explained was it was what every living creature one Equestria had flowing through them.Even the ones who couldn't use it.Magic flows through this place like oxygen.James figured that since he's been living here for awhile that he should have it inside of him now.
He tried many times but failed.He decided to take a break and go to Rarity's to see if his outfit was complete.He walked inside to see Rarity eagerly waiting for him.
"Hey Rare,is my outfit done by any chance?"he asked.
"Of course,darling.This way."the mare told him.
Rarity lead him to her workbench.
"Well don't just stand there.Go ahead and put it on!"
"You just can't wait to see me out of my clothes,huh Rarity?"teased James.
"Hush now,Darling!I have no idea what you are talking about!Now stop being a tease and put them on!"
He gave her a sly grin as he went into the changing room and a minute later he came out with a whole new outfit on.He was now wearing black hooded mage robes with cyan blue trim that had black pants along with a dark brown satchel bag with the strap across his shoulder then a cyan blue sash with a black belt over it holding his pistol sword(outfit similar to the master robes in Skyrim except with a hood).For gloves he was wearing fingerless dark brown gloves made out synthetic as were his knee high leather boots which were also dark brown(think the boots on Achilles's assassin outfit from Assassin's Creed 3).On back of the robes was three cyan blue diamond symbols with the one in the middle being the largest.Overall he liked it.
He stepped out the changing room to see Rarity waiting.She smiled as she admired her work.
"Oh,darling.You look smashing in the outfit.If you weren't dating Statlight,I would snatch you up for myself."
James blushed at her complement and thanked Rarity for his new mage robes.He was about to leave until he decided asked Rarity about using magic for the first time.
"Oh dear.I remembered as a foal I struggled with using a simple levitation spell at first only to learn that you can't force it.You have to be in total harmony with yourself."
'Interesting' James thought as he questioned her some more."So what helped you be in harmony?"
"I just thought about what I care about the most at the time.Then I was able to lift a rock the size of my head."
He thanked Rarity again and left the shop leaving a confused mare behind.He went back to the castle and continued where he left off.When he go there,he thought about what Rarity said and thought about what he cared about the most.
'Starlight....think about Starlight.Think about Gram and Gramps back home.'thought James as he focused his hand on the apple.
He then started to notice a strange sensation inside him.It wasn't unwelcoming but it give tingling sensations in his fingertips.That's when started to notice the notice floating in midair.
"You done it!"exclaimed Twilight."I can't believe another creature beside an alicorn or unicorn used magic!I must record this!"
As Twilight was jotting things down,James smiled at his result.This was the first step into his journey as a spellsword.He looked Twilight and told her his thoughts about his newfound ability.
"This is the first step,Twi.I need something to help focus my magic with.Do you have any ideas on what I can do for that?"
Twilight showed James magical focusing rune tattoos.Now he had three small glowing cyan blue diamond rune tattoos on his forehead only with the middle one being the largest just like on his robes.To complete his look as a spellsword,he underlined his eyes with black war paint.Also surprising is that once he tapped into magic more and more,his short hair turned from brown to white.Twilight said it happened in rare cases of overusing magic since it happened to Star Swirl in his younger years.
James used a variety of frost magic and could teleport as well.His sword was now named Whistling Razor and it now shot explosive gunpowder bullets.Twilight was impressed by his commitment and progression in the fields of magic.She sometimes seemed kinda of jealous which started a friendly competition between them.
Despite the magic prowess,he still needed to improve so he improved his body for months through vigorous training.Rainbow Dash and Applejack were happy to help with.After a couple of months of magic training and physical training,he was ready for another Diamond Dog attack any day of the week.Right now,he just enjoyed his time off with his beautiful marefriend.
Starlight and James watched the night sky as he had his arm around her comfortably.She placed her head on his shoulder as they laid down on a blanket on the ground.Starlight sighed happily.
"You know I missed this.You know us being together like this."
He stared at her and chuckled."I know.I missed this as well.Who knew becoming a legend would be so exhausting."
She laugh at that."You're only legend if you are remembered greatly by something you did."
He then joked."I did that training so I sure everyone would remember that.It was taxing and exhausting as fuck."
She hit him on the arm playfully."Not like that,dummy.You have do something big.Like save the entirety of Equestria or something."
He thought about what she said and nodded.If he wanted to make a big difference now,he could.He just needed to wait for the opportunity to arise.
Then Starlight spoke up."But enough about that.Let's cuddle."
James laughed at that.Life was good in Equestria and he didn't want that to end.

James awoke the next morning his bed that Twilight resized.He got up and did his morning push-ups starting to count each one.As he was exercising,a knock on his door got his attention.Twilight's voice was heard on the other end.
"James?Are you awake?"She asked.
"I am!" He replied.
She opened the door and raised a brow at him.
"What are you doing?"
"Just keeping in shape.I can't be going fat on everybody."He answered.
"Oh,ok.Once you've finished how about we run some tests.I might ask some personal questions too if don't mind,of course!"she said excitedly.
He chuckled and shook his head.
"Alright,Twi.I suppose we can."
Twilight clasped her together and looked like someone told her Christmas was coming early.
"YES!I can't wait to learn about your culture,how your laws are,everything!"
She runs out the room and left James who watched her with a smile.If it was one pony he liked knowing,it was Twilight.She was cute when she is excited.
He got dressed and walked to the the study area of the castle where he saw Starlight reading.He greeted her with a warm smile.
"Good morning,Starlight.I see you are up and at them."
"Yep.Just some books Twilight wanted me to read.She gonna quiz me on them later.I hope I don't screw this up."She said as she flipped a page.
"Don't worry,Star.I have faith in you.You are just as smart as Twilight when it comes to magic."
She smiled at his compliment with a blush on her face.
"Thanks,James.That's very sweet of you."
"Just telling the truth."He said."By the way,have you seen Twilight?She said she'll be here."
Starlight looked behind him as he started to notice.
"She's behind me.Isn't she?"
Before he can say something,he was pulled into a chair where the mare in question gave him a barrage of question to which he answered.
'This will be a long morning."thought James as he continued to answer questions.
Later that day.....
James sighed as he stretched his back and decided he would find work so he can afford his own place.Staying with Twilight was okay,but he did like pulling his own weight.So he went towards Sweet Apple Acres and saw Applejack talking with her brother.Once she saw James approaching,she called out to him.
"Well howdy,James.Didn't expect to see you here."
"Well I decided that I needed to find work so I can afford my own place.Staying with Twilight is fine,it's just I don't want to be a freeloader."
Applejack nodded understanding and smiled.
"No worries,partner.I think we can hire you on.After what Pinkie pulled,I suppose we can afford one more helper.Besides we can use all the help we can get."
"Thanks,AJ.I appreciate the opportunity you are giving me."James said.
"Ah shucks!Think nothing of it,sugar.Now we got some baskets that need carrying to the barn.Do you think you can do that?"
"Carrying apples,alright on it."James said with a confident smirk.
They got to work on bucking the apples where they fell into the basket while James carried each one to the barn.This process went on for some time causing James to sweat a little.Once they were on the last tree,James carried the final basket to the barn where he saw Applejack's little sister with cup of some apple juice for him.
"Thanks for the drink,kid."He said as he took the glass and ruffled her hair which caused her to cutely giggle.
He took a sip of the delicious crisp apple juice which was refreshing.He looked over to see Applejack carrying a large sack which he guessed was his payment.
"Here you go,sugar.You did an outstanding job today."She said honestly.
He took the bag and thanked Applejack as he walked off the farm and into town.There he saw a bunch of market stalls until something caught his eye.In one of the stalls,there was an stallion who was selling bunch of random things.One of those things was a strange rapier sword(Imagine the trick rapier weapon from Bloodborne).He walked up to the stall as the stallion greeted him.
"Hello,my friend.See anything you like?"
"How much for the sword?"asked James.
"The rapier?50 bits."
James noticed he had 100 bits but still wanted to save as much as he can.
"How about 30 bits for it." James bargained.
The stallion thought it over and smiled.
"35 bits and it is yours."
"Deal."James said as he handed the stallion the bits.
He hooked the sheath to his side and placed the sword inside it.He then got curious about the low price and decided to ask the owner about it.
"Why sell it cheap?If don't mind me asking."
The stallion gave a tired sigh and told him.
"My wife wants the extra bits so I sold most of my grandfather's valuables.Including that enchanted sword you bought."
"Wait,this thing is enchanted?"James asked.
"Yep.It was enchanted to where it won't break or dull.Plus the sword has an pistol mechanism on it.It served my grandfather well in his service to Princess Celestia a decade ago.Now it just collects dust in my house."
"So you don't mind me taking it?Even if it's a family heirloom?"asked James with a frown.
"No.It needs a new owner and it looks like it chosen you.Good luck,kid.I hope that sword serves you well."
James thanked him and walked back to the castle where Spike greeted him.
"Hey,James.What's up?"
"Nothing much just got a job and a new sword as well."said James as he showed Spike his pistol rapier.
"Woah!That's so cool!Now nobody will mess with you!"
"I hope not.I only wanted to train with it."stated James.
"You never know when the time arises when you need it.Well I best be off to Rarity's.See ya,James!"
He said waved to the dragon and he headed back inside the castle.He went back to his room and put up his sword up.He also took ca shower to get take care of all the sweat.Once he got done,he went towards the library again.There he saw Starlight reading.He admired the way she focused on each word making a cute serious face as she read.He sat across from her as she still read.She looked up and looked surprised to see James sitting in front of her.
"James!How was your trip into town?"
"It was good.I manage to make some money and I even bought this enchanted sword off this one guy.What about you,beautiful?Did you finally pass Twilight's test?"
She blushed when he called her beautiful and giggled.
"Yep,I've passed it with flying colors.Now I got the free time to do what I want."
"What are planning on doing?"he asked.
"I don't know.This is one of the rare times that Twilight gives me a break from studying.Why?Did you have something in mind?"
James then remembered the advice his grandpa told him.
"Starlight?How would you like to go on a date with me?"
