The Mansion

Load Full StoryNext Chapter

Blueblood stood in the Canterlot Train Depot with his parents, though wealthy with high income investments; they were very rich in finances in their easy to access hoof reach at the bank. They made their wealth restoring antique homes and then selling them.

The couple had bought an old forsaken mansion that sat on rich fertile soil on an eight acre plot. When they arrived they began to look at what would need to be done to the place. Blueblood carefully trotted up one side of the dual winged staircase leading to the second story. He found a room that the best he could tell belonged to a filly before the fire ruined the interior.

He began to clean a mirror when he suddenly spun around and saw that a chandelier above his head was still swinging slightly….he began to be fearful because the window was still intact and there was no air flow. He did one final brush on the mirror glass and saw a filly looking at him. Jerking to the side he saw no pony there, "Silly colt! I'm not here and yet I am."

"Speaking riddles now? Silly filly we have not been properly introduced, I'm Blueblood and you are?"

"When I lived I was named Nightmare….I could walk in dreams; now I just roam the old halls hoping one day my family will come back. They moved after the fire and…..not to scare you but you are standing where I died of smoke inhalation." Blueblood looked at the ground and almost flipped out when his parents poked their heads in.

"Blueblood, who are you talking to?" Blueblood told them and they too looked in the mirror. His mother wrapped a foreleg around Nightmare, he didn't know if she took a wild ass guess to where the filly stood or if she could see her. His father opened up a folder he had been carrying and was reading the history of the place.

"Well son as I always trust you and my information here is easily backed by your account….so I guess the two of you will share this room." As the parents walked out of the room he saw in the mirror the filly wave.

"Well Blueblood, your parents are the first to not freak out and abandon the place…I get lonely here waiting for my folks to return. The mirrors here are my way to be able to see what I look like so I can hold onto what memories I have….the which are fading away." Nightmare began to sob, "I am trying like crazy to keep my memories but it is getting harder to do so."

Blueblood though very confident around other fillies and colts, he now felt awkward for the first time. The best Blueblood could tell from Nightmare's reflection, she was the most attractive filly he had ever seen. Mentally shaking his head from such thoughts he wish there was a way to bring from the spirit realm into the realm of the living for a time so she could be happy again.

Damn his luck his cellphone rang, and Nightmare could be heard mumbling, "Your phone is ringing." Blueblood answered and he was doing his best not to mention Nightmare to the filly on the end of the call.

"Blueblood, I did research about the new place that you texted about and according to urban legend that place is haunted."

"If I see any ghosts, Roseluck, I'd tell you."

"The tone of voice says you have seen something!"

"Just a chandelier randomly swinging is all."

"If you see the spirit of the filly who died there send a picture if you can! According to the images of the family I found…..she was super duper cute!" Blueblood choked as he saw Nightmare smirking up at him. "The other thing Roseluck…" with his phone on speaker and opening the camera app he snapped a photo of the mirror and hit send. "Here is Nightmare, my folks are having me use her old room as my own….which will be a tad awkward since technically she's still here and they know it."

"Your parents have always tried to ship with someone! We didn't work because the obvious reasons are your allergies to bees and pollen. At any rate dear friend, have fun!" Nightmare mare yelled through the phone.

"Nice meeting you!" Roseluck responded in a similar salutation of a farewell. During dinner. Blueblood had placed a small mirror on the table so he could see and have conversation with his friend.
