Chapter 1
The Ruins
Darkness, darkness was all Twilight saw at first. A cold sensation all over her body. Looking around Twilight tried to move but couldn’t feel anything. Her body didn’t shiver, didn’t move and worst of all, Twilight couldn’t feel anything. “Hello!” Twilight yelled out, “HELLO! Please, anyone! Say something!” Twilight begged as she tried to move her hand, but nobody came. “No… no please. Someone! Anyone! I don’t like this!” Twilight shouted. Yet again nobody came. She tried to move a finger, her arm, her leg, anything. Nothing happened.
“Please anyone listening, help me! I fell!” Twilight yelled into the darkness, her mind getting colder. “This isn't happening! Why did this happen, why did I jump!” Twilight shouted now desperately trying to do anything. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry, please help me!” Twilight yelled the darkness slowly becoming darker and darker. “I’m sorry…'' Twilight said. Slowly feeling the darkness cover her up Twilight could say or do anything.
“No…” Twilight said to herself. “No this isn’t right!” Twilight shouted. The darkness not backing away as Twilight only got angrier “NO! This isn’t how I die!” Twilight yelled out into the darkness. “I-I refuse!” Twilight yelled into the darkness. Though the darkness didn’t move away a light started to shine near Twilight. Her anger stopped her from realizing the small red light appearing. “I won’t die here! I can’t! I messed up but I won’t let one stupid choice kill me! You hear me!” Twilight shouted at the darkness. The red light slowly becomes brighter with each and every shout.
Along with every shot Twilight felt stronger, “I will not die! I will get up and get out of here!” Twilight shouted to the darkness. Her body slowly warmed up as the red light had almost brightened all around Twilight. “I am determined to get out here! You hear me! I AM DETERMINED!” Twilight shouted as the red light near Twilight let out a spark of light all around her.
Taken aback at the sudden flash of light Twilight looked down at the red light. “What was… that?” Twilight asked. What she saw next was confusing. She saw a red floating heart right infront of her. Though it felt familiar it also felt strange to her. Slowly reaching out for it Twilight hesitated at first but the heat of the heart brought her closer.
Upon grabbing it Twilight brought it closer to her heart and she smiled. “Hello?” Twilight asked, confused but happy at the warmth.
“You have to wake up…” a voice said right next to her head. Twilight jumped in fear as she pulled the heart closer to her and shined the light around. Not seeing anything Twilight was confused
Looking around in the darkness Twilight looked at the heart and then extended it trying to shine light in the darkness. “Hello? Is someone there?” Twilight asked, trying to find any sign of someone else.
Though the darkness seemed to absorb anything in its way, Twilight's red heart seemed to make the darkness back away. Looking around Twilight realized that the light slowly was returning. She started to feel warm again. She heard the bumping of a heart, her heart. Then she heard it, “wake up. You have to get up and stay determined!” The voice said as Twilight’s vision was flashed with a bright white light.
Twilight opened her eyes with a gasp. The world was sideways and blurry. Tiny Golden Flowers in front of her. A small reflection was shining the light from above her to her eyes. Feeling her body bruised and hurting, Twilight felt the flowers from beneath her. Slowly getting up Twilight reached for her glasses. Grabbing them and putting them on Twilight saw the giant crack they had. A little groan was released from Twilight's already tired body as she took a breath of air. The caves cool air entering her lungs. With a sigh she slowly let out all the air she just took in. “Where am I?” Twilight asked as she looked around and then up. “I-is that where I fell?” Twilight asked, shocked as the holes entrance was quite high up.
Shocked at her own survival, Twilight was soon reminded by her hurt body that not everything was fine. Her leg felt as if it was going to break beneath her any moment. Her arm was bleeding as her head was dizzy. Soon getting up Twilight started to stumble to her feet. “Where do I go? I can’t climb up and I don’t think I can get far with this leg… and who knows what happened to my body’s insides…” Twilight whispered to herself.
Still staring at the ceiling of the cave wall and toward the hole she fell from, Twilight looked down. “I doubt anyone saw where I was going…” Twilight said. Looking ahead, Twilight saw a little hallway. A bit surprised at the fact there would be a hallway with a nicely made pillar Twilight walked off the flower bed. Heading toward the hallway Twilight looked at the pillar. “These aren't natural formations. Someone made these pillars… but who.” Twilight thought as she leaned on one for support. Her leg reminds her of the fall with each step.
Wincing at the pain Twilight didn’t realize the next room was pitch black all except one single ray of light on a small dirt hill. Where a prominent Golden Flower stood. Stumbling into the room Twilight fell onto the ground as she breathed hard. “Ow… ow ow ow…” Twilight said as she stumbled back onto her feet and limped forward.
“HOWDY!” A sudden voice said to Twilight. Stopping in her tracks Twilight looked around. A spark of hope of knowing someone was there made Twilight smile.
“Hello? Is anyone there? I fell down the hole and I am hurt. Can you help me?” Twilight asked, her arm stinging a bit as she looked at the darkness around trying to see someone within it.
“Down here!” The voice shouted at Twilight. The voice was closer as Twilight looked at the floor, seeing the sunflower with a smiling face staring back at Twilight . For a second all that could be heard was the dripping of water onto the chilled cave floor. “Hi I’m-“ the flower started until Twilight yelled
Twilight's high pitched yell shocked the flower as he covered his ears. “O-okay then I can see you are a human child that… that fell and… and you're loud” started the flower as Twilight continued to yell.
Falling onto the ground Twilight stopped for a second as she winced at the pain. “You done?” The flower asked Its grin becoming forced.
“You're a talking flower! Did I die? Am I dead? Is this heaven or hell?” Twilight yelled out her fear rising as the Flower was growing tired of the conversation. “How can you talk!” Twilight said, trying to get on her feet again but couldn’t so she resorted to drag herself away.
“Shut up and listen!” the flower snapped as its expression became sharp and dead looking, Twilight froze in shock and closed her eyes afraid to get hit. ”As i was saying before you rudely interrupted me with that…*Ahem* loud yells. My name is Flowey, Flowey the flower. And you are a human child that has fallen from the surface into the underground.” Flowey started again not noticing her reaction. Twilight carefuly opened her eyes and looked around.
“Is this a dream?” Twilight asked as she looked at Flowey. Before Flowey could reply Twilight had seemed to have made up her own answer, “Yes it is. It has to be the only explanation! It is all a dream that a flower bed must have been the start of this crazy dream. Right i am still in the library at school right?” Twilight asked as she struggled to get up.
“Wow you are an idiot…” Flowey said as Twilight looked at him her expression turning sadden at the comment, “If this was a dream shouldn't your body not hurt? Or shouldn't you be able to see without those glasses? Seriously this isn't a dream bud now come here you seem like you could use a nice batch of friendliness pellets.” Flowey said with a smile as Twilight looked at him
“I- you… no it can't be real you're a talking flower and flowers don't talk. I must be in a vivid dream. Yeah a vivid dream just a really realistic vivid dream… it has to be that it just has to be.`` Twilight said in a whisper but loud enough for him to hear her.
“Hm, okay , let's do an experiment.” Flowey said calmly as he tried to make this easier for himself, at the mention of a experiment Twilight's face gleamed with excitement even if the pain stopped her from truly showing it all.
“Wait you want to do a experiment with me? What is this experiment about what and with what tools and are you going to be my partner? I never had a partner before. This will be exciting but does it count if this is a dream?” Twilight asked herself. Flower was about to respond, “Well i guess it wont matter because to me I got a partner!” Twilight cheered as Flowey looked at her with a confused surprise expression.
“Jeez you must have had alot of friends.” Flowey thought sarcastically to himself as he smiled at Twilight. “Y-yes we are going to… um give me a second… I can't quite remember. What was that last project you were doing?” Flowey asked as he tried to get information out of Twilight to make her believe him more.
Twilight smiled as she was excited to actually be asked what her project was, even if she belived it was in a dream. “Oh, since it's a dream you might not have all of my memories, well you see I was actually doing a project for the science fair, it was this whole complicated thing, Ow!” Twilight winced at her leg as she sat up. “As I was saying it was about time manipilation. The ability to move forward or back in time. Of course when i presented it…” Twilight trailed off as Flowey wasn't paying attention as he tried everything to hold his sinister smile back.
“Oh sorry i can't quite hear you, could you get closer?” Flowey asked innocently as his eyes darkened. Twilight slowly dragged herself toward Flowey. “Yes, a bit closer and then your soul is mine! My determination is rightfully returned to me.” Flowey thought to himself as Twilight stopped just out of Floweys reach. “Damn it!” Flowey mentally cursed himself as Twilight looked at her hands.
“…” Twilight was staring at the ground quietly thinking on the events of last week. Flowey thought something happened to her was about to call out her name. Twilight continued right before Flowey had the chance. “I was super close to figuring out the reason why it is possible but… I was missing one factor. I swear my machine was going to work but when I activated it it just popped. The power modules could have been incorrect but…” Twilight said as she looked down and to the side her vision away from Flowey.
“Come on just an inch closer!” Flowey thought, putting on a smile Flowey spoke, “Well why don't you talk about it? I mean it must be super important to you. Friend...” Flowey waited as Twilight turned her head and wiped a tear she had on her face.
Smiling at her new “Friend” Twilight smirked. “Friend? You consider me as a friend?” Twilight asked the flower. Whom moved his peteled full head up and down. Twilight wiped her tears and smiled at Flowey. “You know… you are actually one of the nicest things i have talked to in a while… I just wish this wasnt a dream. I dont have many friends. Or many good relationships.” the young Twilight said. Her hand unconsciously moving to her back as she rubbed it Flowey only stared and nodded.
“Well come give your good friend Flowey a hug!.” Flowey said with a nod moving his stems open to hug Twilight. Finally seeing Twilight scoot into his reach Flowey's smile went from pedal to pedal. “FINALLY!” Flowey slowly started to summon Twilight's soul out to a fight as Twilight didn't seem too noticed at first.
“Will I be able to see you again after this dream Flowey?” Twilight asked as she realized her red heart was showing again. “H-hey what are you doing!” Twilight shouted as she tried to grab it but then saw the world turn black and white for a second. She felt a sudden difference. On her soul Twilight saw various things, first she noticed the letters “LV'' on the top of her soul, it then said the number “1” right next to that. Under that there were the letters “HP'', next to the numbers was one green bar, the bar was missing a bit of color at the end. Under the bar Twilight saw the numbers “17/20”. Twilight looked around though she was trying to hold onto her red heart Twilight soon realized it only seemed to float in front of her. “F-Flowey what is going on?” Twilight asked as the flower tilted his head.
“Oh well you see that thing right there. Right in front of you… that is your soul, it's the very essence that makes you. Your SOUL starts off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV.” Flowey explained, Twilight was about to ask a question trying to think of a way out but Flowey spoke first. “You must be wondering what LV stands for? Why, LOVE, of course. Ugh why am i explaining this to you? I plan to kill you and take it. So thank you Twilight for sharing your soul” Flowey finished as his expression turned into one of pure evil. “That soul seems pretty powerful too so if you don't mind i will be taking that and since you can't run or move THIS WILL BE EASY!” Flowey said.
Twilight was scared at first as Flowey enjoyed watching her fear. Soon a giggle left Twilight and soon laughed, “Alright Flowey you got me for a second there.” Twilight said as Flowey looked confused at the young girl. “ You almost made me believe this is all happening. Your expression, your ability to do that with “my soul” Good one.” Twilight said a bit hesitant as Flowey only looked at her with disbelief.
“You seriously think this is a dream? Here let me show you it's not.” Flowey said. Summoning a “friendliness” pellet. Tossing at Twilight, Flowey saw she wasn't even trying to move. “She really is an idiot!” Flowey said.
Twilight didn't move but watched the pellet fly toward her. Upon connection Twilight felt a pain within her as she coughed. Looking at her soul Twilight saw the green bar go almost all the way down as a strand of green still stood.Twilight looked at Flowey as her eyes watered, “This isn't a dream! This isn't a dream, SOMEONE HELP ME!” Twilight yelled trying to get anyone's help.
“Oh now this isn't a dream. I am glad i held back. I didnt want to kill you but i wanted to see you freak out and panic. You have no idea how fun it is to see your prey cower before you.” Flowey teased Twilight as he lifted his head. Friendliness pellets started to appear all around Twilight. Flowey couldn't help but to laugh at the expression Twilight wore.
“W-Why are you doing this Flowey? I thought we were friends!” Twilight said, Flowey looked at her for a second, then proceeded to laugh again. Twilight started to hear other voices laugh, voices of past bullies and past girls that would tease her. Her eyes started to water as she couldn’t do anything. She felt weak, she felt alone.
“Golly… you really are an idiot. Down here it’s kill or be killed!” Flowey said his face turned even eviler. Twilight saw the pellets starting to move to her. “Why would ANYONE pass up an opportunity like this? For what Friendship? HA. Pathetic. DIE”
Twilight closed her eyes, tears falling to the ground, “Somebody please… Help me…” Twilight said in a whisper. A sudden light appeared from behind Flowey as it got brighter. Before Flowey could turn to see what it was he felt a burning sensation on his back. The attack was hard enough to deroot Flowey but not enough to kill him. The Flower flew over Twilight's head, the friendliness pellets disappeared.
Opening her eyes Twilight was confused at first, “What a terrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth... “ a caring voice spoke out in the darkness. Twilight looks up at the speaker of the voice. Taking a step forward Twilight was able to see them. Seeing a humanoid goat lady standing in the light. The goat lady was currently staring at the flower as it cowardly replanted itself and disappeared into the dirt. With a “Hmph” the goat lady turned to Twilight, her expression turning into one of kindness and caring, one a loving mother should always use. “S-sun?” the goat lady asked with fear and a shaken tone in her voice. The goat lady ran toward Twilight who tried to stumble away but couldn't get far. Before the goat lady got close she stopped and seemed to realize something. “Ah you're not… Please, do not be afraid, my child. I promise I won't harm you.”
The goat lady walked close to Twilight, trying to get away. Twilight winced at the pain all over her body, her Hp still at 1. The goat lady stopped in her place as she saw how Twilight's reactions were, “What a vial creature… ruining monster names, Please stay still, I can heal you. It looks like you're hurt.” The goat lady said. The goat lady sat down in front of Twilight and offered her hand.
Twilight looked at the hand and then toward the goat lady. “Y-you might hurt me…How will i know you won't just kill me for my soul?” Twilight asked the goat lady. The lady sat there in stunned silence and smiled.
“My child, I promise I won't. Unlike other monsters I see no reason to kill humans for their souls. I would rather care and raise you and let you grow rather than hurt you.” The goat lady said with a gentle expression Twilight didn't seem to trust this goat lady as she tried to scoot away. Stopping in her place again the goat lady thought about how she could heal Twilight “What is your name my child? My name is Toriel, the caretaker of the ruins” Toriel said.
Twilight looked at Toriel and looked down for a few seconds. Twilight didn't speak or respond. Toriel was worried that Twilight might not have a voice or was damaged to the point of not having one . “I am Twilight… Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight said to Toriel. Though it was a small conversation Toriel smiled. With a nod Toriel looked at Twilight
“Twilight Sparkle, that is such a lovely name. So where are you from Twilight Sparkle?” Toriel asked, Twilight pushed her broken glasses up on her face looking up at the roof of the cave Twilight pointed to. Twilight didn't seem to notice Toriel getting a bit closer.
Lowering her hand to her side again Twilight took a deep breath in “I am from Canterlot city.. You might not know what that place is… it's on what you monsters call the surface…” Twilight explained to Toriel who nodded. Toriel slowly moved her hand toward Twilight's hand.
“Canterlot city? Hm, when I was on the surface it was once called Canterlot Kingdom.” Toriel said, this caught Twilights attention. Not seeing Toriel's hand get closer to her limped right arm Twilight had thought on what to ask Toriel first. Looking at Toriel, Twilight tilted her head.
“When you were on the surface? Wait then that means… How old are you?” Twilight asked Toriel who smiled
“My, my, you should never ask a lady her age you know?” Toriel said with a small chuckle, though Twilight was confused at first she remembered that sometimes some people don't like to talk about their age.
“Oh my gosh I am so sorry I didn't mean to… Well i did but it wasn't supposed to come out wrong I just am surprised that you were on the surface before the war. I mean we don't get taught much about the war nowadays but there are still books there.” Twilight said, reaching for Toriel's hand to try to keep her from leaving her alone in the dark. Toriel smiled at Twilight, first she smiled for being so kind to her. Secondly it's seemed that Twilight made it easier for Toriel to heal her.
With one breath Toriel focused her healing magic into Twilight's body. Within seconds the wounds that Twilight had just received from both the fall and Flowey had begun to mend itself. Twilight looked at her soul. The HP bar slowly filled up as the numbers rose with speed. Soon stopping at 20 out of 20. “W-what?” Twilight asked in surprise and shock. Looking at Toriel Twilight soon started to see the world become blurry. Reaching for her glasses Twilight removed them and started to carefully clean them not trying to get hurt by any broken glass. Looking at Toriel Twilight noticed her eyesight was better than ever. Her glasses dropped as it broke from the impact to the ground. Toriel smiled.
Before Twilight could ask anything Toriel waved her hands up “Tada.” Toriel said, Twilight still stunned in silence. “I took the liberty to heal you and your eyesight. I didn't know if that would be okay if you wish I could try to take it back… Just don't know if that would work.” Toriel explained, Twilight started to get up.
Tapping her left leg onto the ground Twilight was surprised that the pain was no longer there. Looking at Toriel, Twilight lifted her right arm, stretching it and moving it around as if to check for any pain. Once realizing that her leg and arm were healed, Twilight covered her left eye with her left hand. Her right eye being able to see to the other side of the room without her glasses as when before they were healed Twilight couldnt even see past her own arm length. Switching, Twilight was left in silence as she could still see the end of the room without the aid of glasses. “This…” Twilight started Toriel was quiet and worried for a second as Twilight turned to her. “This is amazing! How did you do this!” Twilight asked as she jumped toward Toriel and hugged her.
Surprised at the action, Toriel wasted no time to hold Twilight within her arms. Twilight felt the warmth of Toriel wrap around her. Toriel stopped herself from letting any tears out. “W-well It's my magic,” Toriel started as she slowly and gently pulled Twilight away. “We monsters have the ability to do magic. Some of us are able to use powerful attacks and abilities while others can heal and use other useful abilities, such as making fire or even summon weapons or items.” Toriel explained to Twilight who was listening to each and every word.
“So… the books were right? There was once magic in the world…” Twilight said with realization. Toriel nodded with a smile. “Can humans make magic… Well, that's not a bright question. It was humans that made the barriers. Right?” Twilight asked as Toriel chuckled softly and nodded
“As much as I would love to answer your question right now, I think we should head somewhere safer. So that you may rest and we may talk in peace.” Toriel said to Twilight. Putting her hand out for Twilight to grab Twilight stared at the hand and then back to the door way she entered from. Remembering the flower bed, and remembering the hole and how high it was, Twilight turned to toriel and placed her hand onto hers. Slowly the two walked out of the ruins room. Walking out Twilight looked at Toriel who looked down to her. Seeing her smile Twilight felt warm and returned it with a smile of her own
Twilight walked with Toriel as she soon let go of Toriel's hand looking around at the ruins Twilight noticed it was visually brighter in the next room. Torches lit the walls and the room before Twilight and Toriel. Toriel walked up ahead, going up the stairs. Twilight slowly followed all while looking around. Looking right between the two stairwells Twilight saw a pile of orange red leaves with a shining star above it. Walking toward the star Twilight looked at it confused.
Toriel noticed this reaction and smiled. “Oh you like the leaves? They grow within the ruins.” Toriel explained to Twilight. Twilight looked at Toriel then back to the star hovering above the flowers. Looking back to Toriel, Twilight pointed at the star.
“Can… Can you not see the star?” Twilight asked. Toriel looked over at where Twilight was pointing. From Twilight's view Toriel should have passed or even seen the star right beneath her. Toriel shook her head a bit confused at what she was supposed to look at.
Lookin at Twilight worried Toriel spoke “My child I don't see anything there. Why is there something I should do?” Toriel asked Twilight. The young girl shook her head.
“No… no it must be my imagination... “ Twilight started. Her eyes landed back onto the star's location again. Toriel didn't seem to notice this. Twilight carefully placed her hand on the star. The world seemed to stop as Twilight felt the warmth of the star surrounding her body. Twilight looked up and around the area. The shadow of the ruins looms above, filled her with determination. Her soul had appeared in front of her again.
Looking at her soul there were some words on it. On the top it said “LV 1” Confused for a second Twilight remembered what Flowey said a few minutes ago. “You must be wondering what LV stands for? Why, LOVE, of course” The flowers innocent voice shaking Twilight to the core as she shivered. Under the LV there were two words… “Save” and “Return”
Looking at Toriel Twilight noticed that she seemed to be frozen as if time was all paused. Looking at her soul, Twilight pushed on the “SAVE” Button. The options disappeared as Twilight's heart returned to her. Within a blink of an eye Twilight realized that time seemed to have resumed as Toriel turned toward Twilight. “Are you coming, my child?” Toriel asked the young girl. Twilight looked at her chest where the soul disappeared at and nodded
“Yes, I am now.” Twilight said with a smile. Walking up the stairs Twilight followed Toriel into the next room. Though a bit darker it was still fine for Twilight to see and move through. Toriel walked ahead and turned to Twilight.
Toriel stood to the side of what seemed to be buttons on the ground “Allow me to educate you in the operation of the RUINS.” Toriel said, grabbing Twilights attention. “You see, the Ruins have a lot of puzzles within them. If you're not careful or if you don't do it right you could get hurt.” Toriel explained, Toriel stepped on the bottom left button and went straight for the one across it. Going up to the top right button Toriel turned to the left and pushed one more button as the door behind her opened slowly. Turning toward Twilight , Toriel bowed.
Twilight clapped with excitement. Though this was a simple puzzle compared to Twilight's intelligence she couldn't help but to clap for the person who helped her. Not only that but it seemed Toriel enjoyed the applause and presence of Twilight. “Can I try the next puzzle, Toriel?” Twilight asked Toriel who nodded as she rose.
“Of course my child, the next one is actually a puzzle for you. Come along now.” Toriel said kindly, walking into the next room and waiting for Twilight to follow. Smiling Twilight started to follow Toriel as she couldn't help but giggle. Twilight seemed to be happier than before when she first jumped down. Before exiting the room Twilight saw a sign on the wall to her left. Stopping, she walked up to the sign and proceeded to read it.
The sign hung on the wall carefully. The text written on the sign read “Only the fearless may proceed, Brave ones, foolish ones, Both walk not the middle road.” Confused at first, Twilight looked at the pressure plates Toriel had just walked over and noticed the two in the middle straight line were never pushed. Realizing that the signs give her hints Twilight kept that in mind and walked into the next room.
Toriel was patiently waiting for Twilight as she quietly hummed a tune. Twilight walked up to Toriel and gently pulled her clothes. “Oh my child, I didn't realize you made it.” Toriel said as Twilight smiled, “To make progress here, you will need to trigger several switches. I left you some hints and notes on the sign there if you need help alright?”
Nodding slowey Twilight thought to herself, “Why would I need a sign to pull a lever? Kinda simple to pull one.” Toriel patted Twilight's head and smiled. “I guess it will make her happy so it won't hurt to play along.” Twilight thought to herself
“Do not worry, I have labelled the ones that you need to flip. Just so you don't get confused. Also if you need help I will always be right here.” Toriel said, Twilight nodded. Toriel took this as the sign to step to the side and watch. Twilight looked around the area. At the end of the pathway there was a sign.
Walking up to the sign Twilight slowly read it. “Use your strength to pull a lever down or up!” the sign said. Toriel's hand writing on it. Seeing a sign on the wall hanging Twilight walked over to that one and proceeded to read it. “Stay on the path.” the sign read. “My child this way please.” Toriel asked kindly. Turning around, Twilight had started to walk over the little bridge and toward Toriel.
Seeing a lever on the wall with arrows all around it Twilight looked a bit confused at Toriel. “This is supposed to be a puzzle?” Twilight asked, Toriel nodded. “But… there is only one. Not only that but it's marked. Isn't there a harder one?” Twilight asked, trying to be respectful. Toriel put her hand under her chin and nodded.
“Lets focus on the basics just in case. If you're smart enough to do these puzzles I will let you try one.” Toriel said to Twilight who nodded slowly. “Just try your best alright.” Twilight started to walk to the single lever and pull it down. Though it was a bit harder than Twilight expected she still managed to get it. “Very good, my child came along.” Toriel said while she walked over the bridge. Walking after Toriel Twilight looked at the stream. Her own reflection showed back but someone behind her stood with her arms crossed. Looking around her quickly, Twilight saw no one was there. “Be Careful my child, you don't want to fall in and catch a cold.” Toriel warned Twilight.
Twilight walked up to Toriel a bit confused at the last event. Realizing there were spikes in the way Twilight was a bit confused as to why. Toriel stood between the spikes and Twilight. “Now my child this one might be a bit more difficult, now there are two switches.” Toriel explained slowly raising her arm to point at the two switches. Twilight felt excited that the puzzles would get harder, only to be disappointed as one of the levers was marked with arrows all around it. “Now go on and try it out.” Toriel said encouraging Twilight.
Smiling at Toriel, Twilight nodded. “Alright this should be hard!” Twilight said in an excited tone. Deep down Twilight was sad that the tests were not getting harder as she once expected. Walking up to the levers Twilight was thinking of pulling the one without arrows just to see what would happen. About to reach for it Twilight stopped. “She did say that if I did well on these tests I could have a harder test up ahead. Maybe I should answer.” Twilight thought to herself.
Pulling the right lever Twilight heard a click. Turning toward Toriel Twilight noticed the spikes behind her all went down. Clearing the path Toriel clapped her hands with joy. “Oh good job good job my child. Splendid! I am proud of you, little one.” Toriel said. Twilight stopped in her steps upon hearing the last part. “Let us move to the next room.” Toriel started, she turned around and started to walk out of the room. Twilight stood alone in the room quietly
“She said she was proud of me… for pulling a switch out of all the things.” Twilight thought to herself. Twilight felt her eyes begin to fill with water. “I haven't heard those words in a while. They stopped saying it a while ago...” Twilight wiped her eyes. The tears went from her eyes as she forced a smile. Walking after Toriel Twilight felt her old mood rise again, her determination rising.
Upon entering the next room Twilight saw a dummy and Toriel. Confused at what puzzle this would be, Twilight waited quietly. Toriel didn't seem to notice Twilight's time in the other room. “As a human living in the Underground, monsters may attack you.” Toriel started, Twilight could imagine where this would start going. “You will need to be prepared for this situation. However worry not! The process is simple.” Toriel explained, kneeling on one knee Toriel looked at first, “Fear not, I just wish to show you something.” Toriel explained as Twilight nodded.
Toriel prepared herself as she summoned Twilight's soul, Twilight felt the soul prepare for a fight, worried at the sudden change Twilight looked at Toriel with fearful eyes, Toriel's expression showed Twilight she needn't be afraid. Calming down, Twilight waited for Toriel to explain. “When you encounter a monster, you will enter a fight. They will summon your soul. As you can see on your soul there is a LOVE level it should be as “LV”, a HOPE bar which should be “HP” and your actual number of health which is full. Under that there should be a Magical Powers which is “MP” Though i could only see your bar I assume you can see it all correct?” Toriel started to explain to Twilight who was checking everything.
Everything seemed to be there until Twilight noticed the Magic powers section was nowhere to be found. “Um Miss Toriel. The magic one isn't there. Is that normal?” Twilight asked Toriel who stopped. Thinking on the question, Toriel seemed to have gotten an answer.
“Oh please just call me Toriel. It is normal for humans to have magical abilities even if it is hard. Perhaps you haven't awakened any magical abilities. I think the last I heard on the surface was that few to none surface humans use magic. There must still be some since the barrier is still up. I doubt that spell would have lasted this long if they didn't keep redoing the spell… well back to the subject at hand once you learn some magic abilities you will be able to do any type of magic but you must only use it for good, never to kill or hurt.” Toriel told Twilight who nodded slowly
Looking at her soul Twilight looked at where Toriel said the magic section would be. “So Humans can still do spells and magical things? I wonder why no one does it anymore.” Twilight thought to herself as Toriel continued with her explanation.
“Where was i… Oh yes I remember while you were in a fight, strike up a friendly conversation.” Toriel finished the fight as Twilight's soul returned back to her. “Stall for time. I will come to resolve the conflict now and practice talking to the dummy.” Toriel said. The dummy was staring at the wall, not moving, not saying anything.
Twilight slowly walked up to the dummy, her expression one of worry, “I never had a conversation with a dummy. What should I say? Is he or they even alive? Can I just stare quietly? No, Miss Toriel said ``I have to talk so I will!” Twilight thought to herself. Once getting closer to the dummy Twilight felt her soul being summoned into a fight. “IT'S ALIVE!” Twilight shouted in shock.
“Relax Twilight, it won't hurt you I promise. Just make conversation with it.” Toriel said to Twilight who shook. Turning toward the Dummy Twilight could help but remember what happened last time with flowey. Now starting to breathe heavily Twilight looked around.
“I- um- hello? Nice weather right!” Twilight asked. The dummy stood there just quietly staring at the wall. The dummy is not doing or saying anything. Twilight looked at Toriel who nodded. Taking as a signal to continue Twilight turned back to the Dummy. Remembering Toriel's words of how proud she was at Twilight, Twilight felt her determination start to overgrow the fear. Turning toward the Dummy, Twilight smiled. “I like your buttons and stitches. They look beautiful.” Twilight said.
The Dummy was still for a second as its face turned red. Toriel stepped between Twilight and the Dummy. “Ah, very good! You are very good.” Toriel said to Twilight. Going for a hug Toriel wrapped her arms around Twilight. The young girl shivered for a second, the feeling only feeling familiar for a second. “You are doing amazing.” Toriel whispered to Twilight. Twilight couldn't help but hug tighter, a few tears falling into Toriel's shoulder. Though Twilight was crying silently Toriel didn't seem to notice.
As Toriel let go Twilight rubbed her eyes, Toriel looked at Twilight worried, “My child are you alright? Have I hurt you?” Toriel asked worriedly. Looking at Twilight Toriel looked for any injuries.
Twilight rubbed her eyes and shook her head. “No no it's not that. It's just… Thank you. For helping me Miss Toriel.” Twilight said. Smiling at Toriel. Though the smile was true Toriel could still see the pain behind Twilight's eyes.
“You don’t have to call me Miss, Toriel is just fine. You are quite welcome. Thank you for joining me and trusting me with Twilight.” Toriel said. Kneeling down and hugging Twilight again Twilight held a bit longer than before. The Dummy just stared at the wall.
“Come now Twilight. We still have a long way to go.” Toriel said as she let go of Twilight gently. Twilight nodded and started to follow Toriel. Stopping and staring at the Dummy Twilight looked at the door way Toriel just left through and then at the Dummy
Running toward the dummy she gave it a small hug, “Thank you.” Twilight said to the Dummy. Letting go of the Dummy Twilight chased after Toriel. The Dummy stared at the wall all alone as a single tear left its eye
Twilight entered the next room, ready for whatever is to come next, “There is another puzzle in this room… I wonder if you can solve it?” Toriel said to Twilight, ready for what the puzzle Twilight looked around. Not seeing anything but the walls and paved ground going in a zigzag line Twilight was confused.
“Where is the puzzle exactly?” Twilight asked Toriel, who smiled. Waving her hand to follow her Twilight did as so. Jumping onto the paved path Twilight followed it step by step going within the zigzag motion of the paved ground. Toriel couldn't help but giggle at the childish action.
Walking at the end of the paved pathway Twilight followed Toriel into the hallway. Turning the corner Twilight saw a sign on the wall, before she could read it Twilight felt her soul being summoned. Looking around Twilight I saw a small frog-like creature. “Oh hello.” Twilight said to the Froggit. The Froggit only stared at her.
“Robbit, robbit.” The Froggit said. Thinking fast Twilight got ready to run or dodge. The froggit stared at Twilight with its big eyes.
“Um, why are frogs so happy?” Twilight asked the Froggit who only stared at her. The froggit tilted its head. Taking this as a sign to continue Twilight started to speak though the fear of being attacked made it hard for her to say it out. “Because. Because um. They eat whatever bothers them!” Twilight said to the froggit.
The froggit didn't seem to understand but it croaked twice at Twilight, It seemed to have enjoyed whatever Twilight said. The Froggit prepared to attack until a tall shadow covered the Froggit. As it turned around they only saw the angry eyes of Toriel. Her hand summoned a fireball as she stared down at the Froggit.
Looking down, the froggit quickly hopped away. Twilight sighed with a smile. “You did the right thing, my child. I had never heard that joke before. I must say it was a very great one.” Toriel said trying to not laugh at the joke “Jokes are always a great way to make your enemy stop the fight. When stalling for time just be prepared to run or move away.” Toriel explained to Twilight
“I will Miss- I mean I will be Toriel.” Twilight corrected herself. Toriel's expression softened as Twilight felt warm. Toriel walked ahead again as Twilight walked up to the sign. Reading it Twilight was confused
“The Western room is the eastern room’s blueprint” the sign read, thinking of the message Twilight looked at Toriel. “Does something matter to my child?” Toriel asked Twilight pointed at the sign
“This sign said that the western room is the eastern room's blueprints.” Twilight explained. Toriel seemed to watch carefully. Twilight was thinking carefully. “Lets see the eastern room.” Twilight said as she walked with Toriel toward the eastern room.
Turning the last corner Twilight looked at the next room with shock. A whole bridge with spikes all around the floor. “This is the puzzle, but it could be a bit too dangerous…” Toriel stated. Twilight looked at the spikes and then at Toriel
“Why would you even have a room like this in here!” Twilight asked Toriel. The goat lady turned to Twilight and shrugged. A bit surprised at the response Twilight turned toward the spikes. “So is there a lever or a button?” Twilight asked Toriel
Turning toward the sign and then at Twilight Toriel shook her head. “No, the answer was given to you. Already… Here let me take your hand.” Toriel started, her hand reaching out for Twilight's hand. Twilight stepped away from Toriel much to her surprise.
Stepping away from Toriel Twilight put her hand under her chin she slowly bit on her nails as she thought. “No. I want to try this.” Twilight explained to Toriel who shook her head. Reaching out for Twilight's hand again.
“My child please listen to me for this one. If you step in the wrong place you could hurt yourself.” Toriel explained to Twilight, the young girl still not reaching out for Toriel's hand. “What if I show you it and next time you can try it?” Toriel asked
Twilight shook her head, “If you tell me it won't help me learn or grow it will just make me be more reliant on you. I want to at least be a bit more independent.” Twilight said as she tried to push up her glasses. Her mind forgot there was nothing there to push up since she no longer needed glasses.
Toriel was about to speak as Twilight whispered to herself. “the western room... is the eastern room's blueprints…” Twilight thought to herself.Toriel thought of how she could help Twilight as Twilight snapped her fingers. “As I was walking up the mountain the sun was to my left. That is west. So this way must be easy!” Twilight said as she pointed to the eastern room.
Toriel nodded and tried to say something but Twilight continued. “Then the west is behind us… that means! I GOT IT!” Twilight yelled as she did a 180 and ran back to the room behind her. Toriel quickly chased after Twilight
“Wait, my child, Twilight. Please listen!” Toriel shouted. Chasing the young girl Toriel was turning the corner only to see Twilight on the other side of the room. Twilight seemed to be mapping out the paved path as Toriel had just gotten there. “My child you can’t just run off like that.” Toriel said as Twilight was too busy to hear her.
“So this is why it isn't connected to the doorway! Okay so if i take six steps straight.” Twilight started as she grabbed a stick and started to write it on the ground. Toriel tried to get closer and tried to get Twilight's attention. Twilight just sidestepped her as she then went to the next part of the blueprints. “So if this is correct I need five steps.” Twilight mumbled. Toriel ran over to Twilight
“Twilight please just listen to-” Toriel started only to see she ran to the mapping on the ground and started to write on it. Turning around Toriel started to run toward Twilight. Toriel had gotten to the mapping just as Twilight ran around her and back to the paved floor. “Sweet butterscotch buns, this child is fast,” Toriel thought as she started to stop for a breather.
Twilight started to map out the distance and the scaling for the next part of the paved road. Toriel started to walk toward Twilight not out of calmness but out of breath. Reaching out for Twilight's hand, Toriel just missed as Twilight hopped to the side again. Before Toriel could reach out again Twilight had run away from Toriel. “No!” Twilight said as she got to her mapping and started to write it down.
Toriel put her hands on her knees as she breathed, “J-just, Just please my child. If you won't let me aid you in… oh jeez” Toriel started as Twilight ran to the next part and started to scale it again. Finally getting more air Toriel continued. “You could hurt yourself!”
Twilight had finished writing it down onto the mapping and ran toward the end of the paved path. Toriel thought quickly as she summoned a fireball. Knowing the mapping was at the beginning of the paved road which was behind Toriel, she had gotten an idea. Toriel threw the fire ball onto the ground. Twilight looked up as a line of fire was made right in the middle of the paved floor. It was wall to wall as Twilight was now cut off of her map. “Hmph. I think now you will listen to me.” Toriel stated proudly. Twilight looked at Toriel in silence.
“Well I kinda got it. I just needed this last part.” Twilight stated. Toriel's eyes went wide as Twilight waved at Toriel and ran toward the spike room, “WATCH I WILL GET THIS CORRECT!” Twilight said with full confidence.
Toriel screamed in fear as she ran past the firewall she made only to burn her feet for a second and then chased after Twilight. “TWILIGHT, Twilight! Be reasonable!” Toriel shouted after Twilight.
Getting to the Spike room Toriel looked at the room as Twilight was already in the middle of the room. “Twilight, stay right where you are! I am coming!” Toriel shouted to Twilight. Step by step Twilight seemed to walk with confidence. Toriel had started on the spikes as Twilight started to walk down to the bottom. This time she turned left and continued toward the end.
“Don't mess up, don't mess up!” Toriel thought to herself as she stared at Twilight. Twilight turned up and was walking the correct pathing. Toriel stopped as she stared at the young girl. Twilight had stepped all the way up and then turned right. Finally making it to the end of the spike room.
Turning around Twilight smiled, “TADA! How did I do?” Twilight asked. Leaving Toriel in udder silence Twilight giggled at the expression the goat lady wore. One of shock and fear. Toriel finally snapped out of it as she started to walk toward Twilight. Anger in her mind, not anger for not listening but for doing something so dangerous.
Twilight's expression changed as she saw Toriel's steps and face were one of an angry parent. Twilight stepped back as Toriel looked at her. “Twilight are you hurt?” Toriel asked the young girl. Shaking her head, Twilight was quiet. “What were you thinking! That was reckless and dangerous! You could have gotten hurt or worse! Then what would I do!” Toriel shouted at Twilight.
Twilight winced and shrunken down as Toriel shouted, “B-but…” Twilight started. Though she didn't like it, Twilight could feel her eyes water up. The dam was full of tears threatening to break out as Toriel interrupted her.
“But nothing! I wouldn't have forgiven myself if you got hurt! I can't believe you did that!” Toriel shouted her motherly instincts taken over. “I don't want you to ever do that again!” Toriel shouted. Twilight had started to cry quietly. Toriel looked down. Thinking on her next course of action Toriel kneeled as she got closer to Twilight. Before Toriel could check Twilight's soul to make sure she was fine Twilight had put her hands up as if to defend herself from something that wasn't there.
Toriel looked at Twilight quietly, Twilight waited for a blow but nothing happened. Twilight dared to open her eyes. Seeing Toriel staring at her confused Twilight lowered her hands. Toriel was going to say something, then Twilight started to cry. Toriel was surprised at this reaction, wanting to push Twilight on the topic. Twilight on the other hand could only keep crying “I- I am sorry. I'm sorry I just- I just wanted to make you more proud of me!” Twilight said. Toriel could feel a bit of her heart break at that statement.
Twilight had fallen to her knees. Holding onto herself Twilight started to hear voices from her past, “What a crybaby.” a boy's voice said, “Grow up” a female voice said. Twilight could barely see Toriel's face, the dam holding the tears back long gone as she could barely hear Toriel's voice. Another voice spoke up, “come on girls. Let's leave miss, I know everything alone.“ a girl's voice said. Twilight feeling a flurry of emotions, anger, sadness, regret, alone, scared, even guilty.. “Wait, you actually believed I was your friend? I was messing with you.” a males voice spoke in her mind.“Golly… you really are an idiot. Down here it’s kill or be killed!” Flowey said. Finally one voice boomed louder than all, “I wish you were as successful as your brother shining.” Twilight's father said as it echoed everywhere in her brain. Twilight felt something wrap around her.
Toriel had gotten to Twilight and held her as she cried. At first Twilight tried to run but realized who it was, “Im so sorry…” was all that Toriel said to Twilight, the young girl looking up at Toriel.”I shouldn't have yelled at you… and I want you to know I am super proud of you. No matter what. You must remember that.” Toriel said as she held Twilight close.
Twilight cried into Toriel's shirt, Toriel tried to sooth Twilight by gently running her fingers across Twilight's hair, “It's okay, it's okay I won't hurt you… not again I promise.” Toriel calmly stated to Twilight.
As a few minutes passed Twilight had slowly calmed down as she rubbed her redness puffy eyes. Toriel smiled at Twilight and thought of something to make the mood better and for the next lesson. “Twilight. Would you like to continue along the road?” Toriel asked Twilight, looking up at Toriel Twilight was unsure. “It won’t be a difficult one. After this room you would just need to wait.” Toriel explained
Twilight looked at Toriel confused. A bit unsure at the idea and a bit worried that she will still find a way to mess up Twilight look down “What do i have to do?” Twilight asked quietly as Toriel smiled.
“It may be a hard request but I just need you to just walk to the end of the room by yourself. I am sure you can handle that correctly?” Toriel asked. Twilight looked at Toriel though she was still saddened at the last event Twilight let Toriel say “Please forgive me.” Toriel said quietly as she turned around and started to run. Twilight was surprised at the sudden action.
Running after Toriel, Twilight saw the goat lady up ahead, worried at first Twilight felt as if she would be left to fend for herself in the ruins until she noticed Toriel ran to a nearby pillar and hid right behind it. Relaxing a bit, Twilight wiped her eyes and started to walk up to the pillar. The room was long and quiet, all except Twilight's footsteps and a small giggle as she got closer to the pillar. Waiting for a second to listen, Twilight had jumped on the other side of the pillar. Toriel smiled at Twilight.
Walking out of her hiding spot Toriel saw Twilight's unsure face. “Don't worry my child, you did amazing. Thank you for trusting me. In this exercise.” Toriel said as she kneeled down to Twilight. Twilight couldnt to help but smirk as Toriel continued. “However, there was an important reason for this exercise.”
Twilight waited a bit worried to hear the rest. “You see, though I know you have a hard time, I need to test your independence. I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while.” Toriel started Twilight slowly looking down as her expression became one of worry.
“I'm sorry.” Twilight said to Toriel who was confused at the statement. “But please don't leave me. I can do better!” Twilight started as Toriel slowly grabbed Twilight's hand and held it in her palm.
“I won't leave you forever, my child. I will return to you. I just have some things I must work on before you can travel ahead. As I said , you must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while.” Toriel said Twilight slowly nodded, Toriel reached for one of her pockets.
Twilight looked around the room and then to Toriel, “What do I do if I have to run? Do I go to the spikes or ahead?” Twilight asked Toriel. Toriel looked at Twilight and nodded.
“If a threat arrives you hide behind the pillar and contact me as soon as you can. But make sure you are safe first, my child.” Toriel explained. Twilight looked at Toriel confused on how she would contact Toriel, that is when she saw the phone. “I will give you a cell phone. My number is already on the phone. If you have a need for anything, just call. Alright?” Toriel explained to Twilight who took the phone.
“Oh i- I never had a phone back then, What is this model? I have never seen one like this before.” Twilight said as she examined the phone in her hands. Toriel stood up as Twilight looked at her.
“It is what monsters use in the underground or what they used to, I think there is a new version. But for now this will work, remember to be safe and take care of yourself, if you get into a fight remember try to run or persuade them to stop. Be good, alright?” Toriel said
Nodding Twilight thought of something, before Toriel walked away Twilight had hugged Toriel's leg. Surpassing the goat, Lady Toriel put her hands around Twilight and hugged her, “I will return soon my child.” Toriel said as she and Twilight let go of the embrace. Toriel continued on her path as Twilight looked around the room and sat down next to the pillar. Looking at her phone Twilight quietly sighed as she waited. A few minutes passed as Twilight was tinkering with the phone, a bit interested in how the monster's technology worked in the underground.
Trying to open the phone Twilight wanted to see the technology within the cell phone. It was only a few since Toriel had left Twilight alone and she was quickly getting bored. Twilight had played tic tac toe by herself on the ground. She had thought of books and stories she could be reading, now wishing she brought books into the underground. As for now Twilight was interested in the tech the monsters had. With their puzzles and their phones Twilight was very interested. Until…
*RING...RING…* Twilight jumped a bit as she quickly stopped trying to pry the phone open and looked at the caller's id. The name *TORIEL* On the cell phone's mini screen. Pushing the answer button Twilight put the phone to her ear, a bit of her was not expecting to hear anyone since the service underground would cause no calls to go through. The other part of her was excited to hear Toriel again. “Hello?” Twilight asked into the phone.
“ Hello? This is Toriel,” The phone called out as Twilight was surprised at the call. “I am sorry to say but my errands are taking longer than I expected, you must wait five more minutes but if I can ask how things are going?”Toriel asked through the phone as Twilight smiled to herself.
“Everything is fine. I am just waiting for her. I'm a bit bored… B-but that's fine, I mean it's nice here!” Twilight said into the phone, “Everything is fine please take your time.” Twilight said.
“I am sorry for that, just remember please be safe and if anything happens just contact me. I will be back soon.” Toriel said to Twilight. Twilight automatically nodded even though Toriel couldn't see it.
“Mom, don't worry.” Twilight said, before Twilight realized what she just said Twilight looked at the phone. “Why did I say that! Maybe she didn't hear me!” Twilight thought.
“M-mom?” Toriel asked at first. Twilight bit her lip, “Well thank you Twilight. I will be back in five minutes.” Toriel said in her usual mood. Twilight took this opportunity
“Yes! See you. In five! Sorry!” Twilight shouted as she took the opening to stop the call. Putting her face into her hands as she groaned into them “Why did i say that! WHY!” Twilight asked no one in general. Sitting back onto the pillar Twilight closed her eyes. Quietly thinking about the last conversation Twilight shook her head wanting to think of something else.
“How in the world do they get service in the underground? Doesn't the mountain caves stop any signal?” Twilight thought to herself as she looked at the phone all around. Tapping on the keys Twilight smiled at the messages she could type. *RING...RING…* The phone went as Twilight jumped, throwing the phone up. “Oh no!” Twilight said as she quickly got up Twilight looked around and dived for the phone.
“That was close…” Twilight said as her left hand held on the phone a inch away from the ground *RING...RING…* The phone rang again as Twilight was confused at who would call her. Looking at the name on the phone it read *UNKNOWN* Knowing it wasnt Toriel's number that called her Twilight looked around as her thumb hovered over the answer button.
Twilight stared at her phone the title *UNKNOWN* Still ringing on it, thinking it could have been a glitch due to how old the phone was, Twilight answered the call by putting it to her ear. “Hello? Toriel?” Twilight asked
The person on the other end was quiet at first as Twilight could hear a soft sound of Trees waving in the distance and a small breeze. “Hello, Know that your call is very important to us. Please hold on until the next assistant is open.” a voice said through the phone right after he said that Twilight heard a certain horn playing music in the background. The trombone was playing a soft song though it was only the trombone.
Listening to the tune rather than being in the quiet, Twilight smiled at the phone. “At least the music is good. Wonder why they only got one instrument.” Twilight said the Trombone stopped for a second.
“Uh, the company couldn't pay for more instruments.” The voice spoke out and continued, Twilight listened to the reasoning and nodded. As the music continued, Twilight's brian slowly was ticking as she realized something was off.
Twilight listened quietly as she thought about what seemed off then it hit her as she sat up “Why-wait hey this isn't an operated voice box!” Twilight accused at the phone. The person on the other side stopped playing the Trombone as a laugh could be heard.
A sad trombone sound played as the voice couldn't help but laugh. “That's not funny!” Twilight shouted as she turned red now realizing that she was listening to a random stranger play the trombone for a few minutes. The voice was laughing for a while as they soon relaxed
“Hey but you got yourself a nice soundtrack from the Trombone. You have to admit I am getting better!” The voice said a small chuckle leaving his voice as Twilight mentally agreed that the theme was good but still focused on the problem at hand.
“How did you even get this number! I thought this was an old phone!” Twilight asked the stranger on the phone. The man stopped laughing and sounded to move something to the side.
“Oh that? That was simple, I was bored doing my job and wasn't feeling like sleeping so I went down the list of random calls I was calling, it looks like your number came up.” the voice said as Twilight looked at the phone in disbelief.
Picking up the phone Twilight put it closer to her ear, “Wait so you been calling number by number and pranking them? Why would anyone do that? How would you even do that wouldn't it get boring after a while?”Twilight asked the stranger
The voice on the phone made an audible “Hmm” sound, “Nah i don't because i get some people like you!” The voice said, Twilight's face puffed out as she stared at the phone. “Hey I got to say you made my day better! You have no idea how crazy it has been today so thank you.” The voice said, Twilight listened to the voice as it seemed to have gone from happy and joking to serious and down.
“Oh well… your welcome. I am glad I could help?” Twilight asked herself more than the voice. The ruins were quiet as Twilight went quiet not sure what to say. The voice on the other side took this chance to speak.
“Ah look at me putting that on you sorry about that, anyway. I guess i will let you go now-” the voice started as Twilight looked at the phone and interrupted the voice.
“NO WAIT… I mean… please if it's fine with you can we just talk a bit more...I am just sitting here in a hallway bored and my mom- GUARDIAN! My guardian is currently busy,' Twilight started then thought on what to say, not wanting to reveal herself to be a human as Flowey's words stuck to her head Twilight prepared herself. “I just want someone to talk to. I am bored.”
The voice was quiet for a second. Twilight was worried he had already hung up and she was alone again. “Alright, I think I have a few minutes to spare.” The voice said much to Twilight's delight. “So kid, what's your name?” the voice asked.
Twilight looked at the phone. “Oh I didn't think this through. Do monsters have monster names? They got to right? Toriel sounds like a monster name. Flowey, um I don't know any other names! Well if i say my name is Twilight then that shouldn't be too obvious. Right?” Twilight thought to herself.
The voice on the other side waited patiently as Twilight thought to herself. The voice sounded as if he was stretching as a quiet yawn left his voice. “Hello? Underground to strangers?” the voice asked, wondering if they were still there.
Twilight looked at the phone and gulped, “I am still here, sorry my name is.” Twilight started as she looked around the ruins. Twilight saw only items. Looking at the phone Twilight thought about who gave it to her. Twilight got an idea. “My name is Goat Kid!” Twilight said. The voice on the other side was quiet as they started to laugh. Twilight facepalmed as she looked at the phone. “H-Hey, what's so funny?”
The voice spoke between laughs, “sorry kid i just couldn't help myself.” The voice said, Twilight put her knees up to her and Quietly sighed. “So what are they gonna call you when you grow up? Goatman? Goat Woman?” The voice joked as Twilight just listened.
“Now I made myself a laughing target on the surface and in the underground…” Twilight thought to herself as the voice coughed and cleaned his voice. “Look, it's not that easy to think of names.” Twilight said to the phone
The voice chuckled, “Hey I am just “KIdding” with you, My dad named me and my bro after fonts, We even got a kid named Monsterkid. So you're find,”Goat” it?” the voice said to Twilight. Though Twilight sighed with relief that she didn't blow her own cover she couldn't help but giggle at the two puns.
“Well those two puns were, ''Baaad Twilight giggled, the voice in the phone went quiet until a snort came through. His laughter and Twilight's laughter filled the ruins for a second.
“Wow Goat Kid you got a cool name and have a great sense of humor.” the voice said to Twilight, “I'm Sans, Sans the skeleton. Nice to meet another “humorous” monster in the underground.” Sans said to Twilight a chuckle escaping his voice at the end.
Twilight giggled, “Well it's nice to meet you Sans the Skeleton. You must be a “Comic” am i right?” Twilight said, the laughter resuming as Sans let out a light snort.
“Gee kid, didn't know there was another master Punner in the underground. My brother would certainly love you, “down to the bone”!” Sans said as the puns were still going. Twilight smiled that she was able to laugh with someone for once and not have someone laugh at her.
“Thank you, thank you. I am here all night!” Twilight said, clearing her voice Twilight looked at the phone. “So if I could ask, what do you work for?” Twilight asked the phone. The voice on the other side calmed down.
“I am a sentry, and man this job is the best.” Sans said as Twilight listened to her new friend as Sans continued, “if my bro ain't around i get to sleep, prank or even leave my station dont tell him that.” Sans joked around as Twilight nodded
“So i know this may sound dumb but what are you guys on the look out? Are there bad people?” Twilight asked as Sans went quiet for a second and then chuckled. “What's so funny?” Twilight asked, a bit worried.
“Come on kid, you're a monster and you don't know what we are looking for?” Sans asked through the phone. Twilight shook her head as she then realized he wouldnt see that.
“N-Nope, i didn't pay attention to what my parents said, sorry.” Twilight said a bit worried that Sans would catch on. “S-so... um is that bad that i don't know?” Twilight asked to the phone trying to sound innocent.
Sans sounded as if he was moving as the soft noise of snow being squished was heard. “Well yeah it kinda is bad, you know since they teach it at school. Your parents or your teacher would or should have already said something.” Sans said as he went quiet. “Anywho yeah, there are bad people. Those bad people are humans. The ones that locked us down here.” Sans stated his voice going serious as Twilight was quiet. She looked at the phone in utter silence. “Now dont go telling your parents that Sans the skeleton told you that, i don't need an angry Goat charge at me. They're probably hiding it from you for some reason. That is none of my concern.”Sans said returning to his usual happy mood.
Twilight felt her hand shake, “hey-yeah i won't…” Twilight said, though she could assume why Twilight had thought of another question, “What do you think of them?” Twilight asked Sans the sounds of stepping in snow stopping.
Sans sounded confused and he spoke, “Um about?” Sans asked, the silence from Sans' side made Twilight wonder where he was.
“W-well about the humans? What do you think of them? Do you think they are evil or...” Twilight asked, “My first friend in the underground and he hates humans… great. Wait, if monsters are looking for souls, why didn't Toriel take mine when she had the chance… and why is she helping me through all of this?” Twilight thought to herself almost missing sans point.
“Heh, which would you like to hear? The job versioni have to follow or my personal?” Sans stopped as it seemed he was thinking of something. Before Twilight could pick Sans for her, “I have to say that humans are the “monsters' ' in my book, they imprisoned us and don't even have any communication with us. We are left to die because of them. If I ever found a human I would kill it where they stand.” Sans said. Twilight was shocked at the answer, her eyes filling with tears.
Twilights finger went over the *HANGUP* Option on her phone, She shook that her best friend really did hate her, not her in general but her race and there for her. Just before Twilight could push the button Sans spoke again. “That is what I would say if the captain of the royal guard or the king or any other monster asked me. But in my personal opinion, humans aren't bad, and if there were any humans in the underground I wouldn't care. It would be just like seeing another regular monster around. I would rather befriend them than capture them.” Sans explained Twilight staring at the phone in silence. Sans waited for her response but upon hearing nothing Sans spoke, “Hey kid? Are you there?”
Twilight wiped her eyes, she cleared her voice and spoke, “Y-Yeah… yeah i am okay. Just didn't know.” Twilight said as Sans was quiet, “I- I just didn't know.” Twilight lied to Sans.
“Yeah well don't worry if i find a human i wont hurt them. I am too lazy too either wa-” sans was stopped as another voice spoke out from the phone, “Crap give me a sec kid.” Sans said to Twilight as Twilight could hear something being fumbled around.
“SANS SANS WHERE ARE YOU?” another male voice said it was faint at first but soon it was louder. “SANS! ANSWER ME SANS!” The voice shouted again. Twilight could hear Sans chuckle and walk.
“Hey Pap, how ya doing?” Sans asked as the other voice stopped. “I was just patrolling around the sector, thought i saw something, but *yawn* man i am “bone tired” shows Undyne.” Sans asked the new voice named Pap.
“Sans…” pap said, his tone annoyed at first, Sans chuckled at the man. “Sans you can't just leave your post, you should tell someone. Nevermind that Sans you said you saw something?” Pap said to Sans
“Yep, I saw a human-like figure walking off this snow trail and heading east might be something important.” Sans said to his higher officer. The voice of Pap made a “Hmm” noise.
“Fear not my brother Sans I the Great Papyrus! Will investigate this thing you saw. Oh and Sans Undyne said that you are free to go for the rest of the night.” Papyrus said to Sans. “There is Spaghetti in the fridge and please dont be at grillby’s i don't want to find you like last time.”
“You got it, Paps.” Sans started, “Don't go human hunting all night alright. I “wood” helped you search the forest but it seems like you got it all under control.” Sans said. Twilight could hear Papyrus yell as sans chuckled.
Hearing the phone Sans had moved around Twilight waited for a second and then asked, “Sans?”
“Heya, I'm back. Well I got to get to grillby's kid if you want we can meet up later and joke around more.” Sans said to Twilight. Twilight stared at the phone dumbfounded.
“Wait, did your friend tell you not to go there?” Twilight asked Sans. hearing the footsteps of snow being crushed, Twilight could only assume he was going to start his way to Grilby’s.
“Who Papyrus, yeah but it's only for ketchup. Anyway, I am already here.” Sans explained as he stopped walking. Twilight looked at the phone, more questions in her mind now.
“Wait, you're already there? How! Was your sentry close to grillbys?” Twilight asked Sans. She could hear commotion all around the place from the phone.
“Hm? Oh no not even close but when you have a shortcut it is so much easier to get around places.” Sans said on the phone his voice was almost taken by the loudness of other monsters. “But hey if you're ever in snowdin come find me. Go to grillbys and ask for a Sans the Skeleton.” Sans said
Twilight was about to say something but Sans voice spoke first, “Alright Goat Kid, see ya around! Hey Grillby, can I get ketchup?” Sans voice said as the phone hung up. Looking at her phone, Twilight was quiet. Looking at the ruins again Twilight tilted her head.
“Ketchup?” Twilight asked as she looked back to her phone. Seeing the number on her screen Twilight copied the numbers and created a new contact under the name of *SANS THE SKELETON* “So… not all monsters want to hurt me. And… I have a friend!” Twilight said more excited at that last part. Looking around Twilight still didn’t see much but Ruin walls. Her stomach grumbled as she let out a small yawn. Tired and hungry Twilight looked worried.
Looking at her phone Twilight didn’t see any messages or calls from Toriel. Looking worried, Twilight got up. Debating on what to do Twilight got up and looked at the room. As she started to walk out of the ruined hallway Twilight started to walk into the next room.
The next room was big, leaving on the ground a paved path spitting up ahead one going to a room to the left another going to the room to the bottom right. A froggit was sitting on the side of the paved road. Taking a step inside the next room Twilight heard the phone ring. “Hm? Sans?” Twilight thought for a second until she saw the name *TORIEL* “Oh Toriel!” Twilight thought to herself as she answered the call. “Hello?” Twilight asked
The phone let Toriel's voice out, “Hello. This is Toriel you have not left the room, have you?” Toriel asked Twilight. Looking at the hallway Twilight thought on what to say.
“N-no i haven’t” Twilight said to Toriel through the phone. The call was quiet as Twilight started to sweat. “Is she around me? Wait, can she see me?” Twilight asked herself.
“Good, I still am grabbing some supplies. I don't want you to go on ahead because there are a few puzzles ahead that I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try to solve them yourself. I have to go please stay in the ruin hallway. Be good, alright?” Toriel said as the phone call finished. Twilight looked around and let out a sigh. Looking ahead Twilight saw a star ahead. It was like the first one she saw in the first room. Walking up to star Twilight had stepped into a pile of leaves, kicking the leaves up and around Twilight giggled as she played for a second in the leaves. Going to the star Twilight put her hand on the star. Playfully crinkling through the leaves fills Twilight with determination. The world around Twilight had stopped. Her soul had appeared in front of her again.
Looking at her soul Twilight was confused. Looking at the “LV” it still said “1”. “If LV means love, why hasn't it grown?” Twilight asked as she pushed the star. The world resumed as Twilight smiled.
Looking around Twilight saw Froggit staring at her, both stared as if one was going to attack the other. Coughing Twilight scratched the back of her head, the Froggit ribbited. “H-Hello. My name is Twilight. Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight said as she walked near the Froggit. The froggit just stared at her
“Ribbit...Ribbit” The Froggit said as Twilight looked at the Froggit confused. Not understanding the Froggit Twilight looked around to try to find something that could help her understand him. The froggit looked at Twilight again, “Ribbit… Ribbit…” The froggit said.
Twilight opened her mouth to say something. “He said “excuse me human, I have some advice for you about battling.” A female voice said. A bit surprised at the voice Twilight looked around but couldn’t see anyone.
“Hello?” Twilight asked, looking around, a bit afraid and unsure. The Froggit looked at Twilight as it tilted its head, it ribbited again as Twilight looked around. “Um, is there someone else here?” Twilight asked.
“Yes, turn around.” The voice said, Twilight slowly turned around. The Froggit was the first thing she saw. He sat still looking confused at Twilight as to why she was talking to thin air. Next to Froggit was a figure, a young girl around the same age of Twilight. She wore a green sweater with a yellow stripe in the middle. She wore brown shorts and black shoes. She had light amber skin, red and brilliant yellow hair. She was transparent as Twilight looked surprised to see another human. “Howdy.” The figure said as she had her arms crossed in front of her. Twilight looked at the froggit and then back to the girl, “Ah don't worry he can't see me...well no one can. Other than you.”
“Well that's great, I am going insane…” Twilight said as the girl walked up to her. Twilight put her hand on her head, “did i hit my head too hard on the ground or are you an actual monster trying to make me freak out?” Twilight asked the girl.
“No, I am serious, I am… Okay how do I put this. Ah, when you first fell to the underground do you remember feeling cold and alone?” The girl asked as Twilight slowly nodded. Noticing the Froggit looking at her as if she was crazy, Twilight looked to the room to the side and walked toward it. The ghost seemingly was dragged into the room as she looked at Twilight. “The froggit giving you a look? Yeah I understand you are talking to thin air in his eyes. But as I was saying. When you fell you were actually dying, though you might not believe me. Your soul here.” the young girl said as she pointed at Twilight's chest. “Is what brought you back from the brink of death. But in the end you needed one more push. That's when I first talked to you. Remember,“You have to wake up…”” the ghost girl slowly explained to Twilight.
Twilight nodded slowly remembering clearly another voice within the darkness. “But why? Why are you here? With me, why didn't you talk to me when I was all alone in that room?” Twilight asked the ghost girl.
“Well I was about to, but then that skeleton guy started to talk to you, and you seemed to enjoy his presence and his terrible jokes. Then when Mom” the ghost girl stopped in her tracks. Twilight looked confused for a second until the ghost recovered. “When Toriel called you seemed in distress so I thought perhaps giving you some space is best.” The ghost girl said as she looked to the side. “And imagine if Toriel saw you talking to nothing then she would have thought you were insane.”
Nodding at that reasoning. Twilight looked at her own soul. “So can I ask why are you with me? When I was on the surface I had no ghost friend following me. And if I fell and that connected us, why is that?” Twilight asked the ghost girl as she had various questions but thought this question would be the best to ask. The ghost girl smiled as she pointed at Twilight's soul.
“That question is very simple to answer.” The ghost girl declared to Twilight. “Your soul of Determination was strong by itself but you might have taken some of my determination when you landed on my grave. Your soul and my soul are kinda joined together… well now it's more of your soul, mine is no longer there but infused with you.” the ghost girl explained to Twilight.
Twilight looked at the ghost girl with a expression that can be classified as a mixture of disgusted and confused. “Landed on your grave? What do you mean?” Twilight asked, a part of her really not wanting to know the answer as another part knew it already.
“Um the flower bed… that was my grave.” The ghost girl said nonchalantly. Twilight's eyes widened as she looked at the ghost. “The next thing you're going to say is “I’m sorry.” Don't be you didn't know and if it wasn't there you would have surely died.” The ghost girl said.
Twilight was about to say, “I'm sorry,’ But stopped as the ghost girl seemed to already know. “Still I didn't mean to disturb you. I don't know if you were at peace or not and i disturbed you.” Twilight said to the ghost girl. The ghostly figure nodded and shrugged.
“Eh it happens. I am just happy I can help someone out this time. Don't need another kid to have no idea what to say or do down here. Or how to handle some fights.” The ghost girl said to Twilight. Though Twilight heard her she seemed to be deep in thought, “I do have one question…” The ghost stated as Twilight looked at her. “Why did you jump?”
Twilight was quiet as she started to bite her nails. “It… it’s a long story, and I don’t want to get into it?” Twilight offered closing her eyes expecting for this ghost to continue to ask her what was the reason or pry it out of her. The ghost looked at Twilight for a few seconds in silence but then shrugged.
“Hey your life your rules I guess? I ain’t gonna snoop around for answers.” The ghost stated in a carefree attitude. Twilight looked around in the room they were in, seeing a small pillar with a bowl in the middle Twilight walked up to it, her curiosity getting the better of her.
“So what's your name?” Twilight asked the ghost girl as she read the sign on the pillar, the sign read, “Please take one…” within the bowl was candy. Looking at the sign and then around the room similar to how a child about to steal a cookie would, Twilight picked one up.
“My name? You haven’t told me yours so why should I tell you mine?” The ghost asked, floating upside down and in front of Twilight. The sudden closeness of the Ghost made Twilight uncomfortable as she quickly took a step back. “You know you can grab more right?” the ghost asked as Twilight nodded, “Do you want another one?” the ghost turned to Twilight who was opening the candy, “Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait just a second!” The ghost girl shouted, the sudden loud noise triggered Twilight to jump back, her arm up in a defensive position as her eyes closed.
The room was quiet as the ghost looked unsure at Twilight, reaching out to Twilight the ghost was stopped in her tracks as Twilight opened her eyes. After seeing no threat around her, Twilight stood straight instantly. “Hey kid are you alright?” The ghost asked cautiously, unsure of what to say or how to react.
“I’m fine! Everything is alright!” Twilight started as she stared at the candy once more. “Okay, if this is how we are now we need to figure out a way to work together on this, rule 1. Please no sudden or loud noises. If you want to tell me something just say it, don't yell it please…” Twilight asked, her expression holding a sense of preparation from the ghost.
“Alright, that sounds fair enough. Sorry I shouted.” The ghost girl stated as the room seemed to relax from the situation. “But you should not eat that candy.”
Twilight looked at the candy with worry now as she looked up to the ghost once more. “Is it poisoned? Is it yours?” Twilight asked unsure of the reason as to why she should not eat any of the candy.
The ghost girl shook her head. “No, monster food is very different from human food.” the ghost started, Twilight looked at her and then at the candy and sniffed it. “It's not poisoned. How can i explain this… oh okay, you know when humans don't eat you guys get hungry and soon tired and weak?” The ghost asked.
Twilight looked at the food, not seeing anything special about it, hearing the explanation the ghost girl was giving Twilight nodded “Yes… but does this monster food boost your body up or something?” Twilight asked. The ghost girl shook her head.
“Well it can if you eat a lot, since monster Monsters are far weaker than humans, both in physical combat and regular aspects, they need ways to heal up their HP, the thing that shows you if you're close to death or not.” The ghost started. Twilight started to think of the explanation slowly understanding it. “So to heal up their body the SOUL uses the healing magic that is in all monster food.” The ghost girl started as Twilight looked at the candy worried. “It's fine if a human eats it, actually it is super good. Since you will be fighting a lot. Some monsters don't quit or give up so easily and if you can't run you might be forced to fight.” The ghost girl explained, Twilight looked at the candy as she started to wrap it up once more but then looked at the ghost. “Sadly due to this monster food, monsters are accustomed to food mostly made of magic, it means their physical form’s do not have actual nutritious and health problems us humans do. They do not bleed and when they die they dust away. They still eat physical food grown from the over world but that comes in rare and sometimes is not the best. This means monsters have to use magic to create new foods and items to help the underground sustain.” The ghost girl explained to Twilight.
“You sure do know a lot of monsters and their abilities and languages. How do you know that?” Twilight asked the ghost, putting the candy into her pocket she waited for the ghost to respond. “You were also buried here...so that means I am not the first human to fall down here. But the lack of humans also means that… none escaped.” Twilight said grimly. The ghost girl nodded
“Look, I know it because I've been here for a while now. I suggest you take a few more candies and talk to Froggit. He might have some good information” The ghost girl started. Twilight was currently looking at the floor as she felt something within her getting stronger.
Looking at the ghost girl Twilight smiled, “Well if no one else made it out before I will be the first one to make it out, you can bet your ghost stuff on that.” Twilight stated, her determination rising up as she was feeling excited. “But first let me ask you this. Are you going to be my new friend?” Twilight asked the ghost with a smile.
The ghost looked at Twilight confused. “We just met and you want me to be your best friend?” the ghost asked a bit confused on what a friendship means in Twilight's eyes.
Twilight nodded. “Yep you haven't hurt me or done something wrong to me and in fact if what you said was true you saved my life and you are going to save my life in the future. So you're gonna be my best friend?” Twilight asked, “You're kinda bound to me so you don't really have a choice.” Twilight added in a light hearted joking manner.
“If it gets you moving I guess I can be. And it's like you said. I am bound to you so we are best friends''.” the ghost girl said as Twilight's eyes glimmered. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Twilight went to hug the ghost girl only to go right through her and fall onto the ground. The ghost girl couldn't help but snicker at that reaction as she kneeled down to Twilight. “Sorry should have mentioned that even though you can see me you still can't physically touch me. I would offer you my hand but…” The ghost girl joked to Twilight who looked at her.
Thinking of a way to tease the ghost back, Twilight remembered what the ghost girl said and did at the mention of Sans' bad jokes. “Oh don't worry I will be fine, I might hurt for now but having a new friend is already “Raising my spirits.”” Twilight said to the ghost girl.
The ghost girl stared at Twilight, her eyebrows furrowing, “…No…” The ghost girl stated, making Twilight only laugh as she got herself up.
“Ah what you don't think that was punny?” Twilight asked as the ghost girl's face palmed. “So since I don't know your name I don't think ghost girl is appropriate. So…” Twilight said as she dusted herself off. “Hmm, what about Bacon?” Twilight said.
The ghost girl looked at Twilight with an even more irritated stare. “What your hair looks like bacon.” Twilight started as the ghost girl rolled her eyes. Then an evil smirk appeared on her face.
“Fine, if you call me bacon I can call you Goat kid.” The ghost girl said to Twilight as her eyes went wide and her face turned red. “Yeah, remember when I said I was around the whole time. I meant that, I heard your whole conversation with the phone guy and your “monster name”. By the way, I love that nickname for you, Twilight, it's so funny and adorable.” the ghost girl said as Twilight covered her face with both hands.
“I- I was trying to think fast and under pressure. I didn't want to get in trouble.” Twilight said as the ghost girl laughed at Twilight's reaction. “It's not funny! I was scared and I- I… Fine, what should I call you then?”
The ghost girl wiped a tear away from her eye as she held onto her gut. “I didn't even know that my gut could hurt from laughing. Give me a second Goat Kid.” The girl said as Twilight looked at her.
Twilight walked up to her and tried to grab her arm but couldn't. “Stop it!” Twilight yelled trying to make the ghost girl stop. With the ghost girl laughing even more at Twilight attempts. She looked at Twilight and smiled
“You can call me Dream.” the ghost girl said. Twilight looked at her a bit unimpressed. “W-what?” Dream asked Twilight who was still having an expression of not being impressed.
“Nothing Dream, just not that impressive, i thought it was going to be something super cool like, Sunflare, or, or daybreaker, or even Bacon Blast.” Twilight said as Dream just looked at Twilight with a confused slowly turning into an irritating expression. “Um… nevermind let's get going, Dream!” Twilight said as she started to walk back to the previous room. Not taking anymore candy.
“Damn those names actually sound good.” Dream thought in her head as she floated beside Twilight. “So Goat Kid, what's your plan?” Dream asked Twilight, curious to see what she would say.
“Well Bacon… my goal is to get out of the underground in one piece so that's what i will do.” Twilight teased Dream back. “I plan to survive. As I said I will be the first kid out.” Twilight stated as Dream nodded.
“And what about the monsters?” Dream asked Twilight. Though Twilight was thinking on the topic of the monsters she truly didn't know what to say for them.
“Well, we will have to see…” Twilight stated unsure. Dream was quiet as she floated silently next to Twilight. “My name is Twilight, Twilight Sparkle.” Finally getting back to the Froggit he ribbited. Twilight turned to Dream who was translating it.
“He asked if you're done going crazy.” Dream said with a smirk. Twilight groaned and nodded. The Froggit blinked at Twilight and proceeded to ribbit. Dream listened closely and turned to Twilight. “He said “If you act a certain way or fight until you almost defeat another monster then they might not want to fight you anymore, if a monster does not wish to fight you anymore, please use some mercy.” Dream said to Twilight.
Twilight looked at Dream and nodded. Then she looked at the froggit and nodded. Turning around, Twilight started to walk down the dirt road curious to see what else she would find. “It will only be about five minutes right! I can explore a bit.” Twilight started only to bump right into a Froggit, her soul automatically being summoned as the Froggit looked at Twilight confused. “Oh- I’m sorry!” Twilight said The new froggit only looked confused to Twilight not understanding her as a second Froggit hopped around the corner and looked at the ensuing fight.
Twilight looked at the Froggit worried, “Hey Twilight you have to say something to it or react or he will attack!” Dream shouted at Twilight, “Compliment him or say he looks cool or something!” The froggit jumped at Twilight.
Seeing the jump Twilight rolled to the side as the froggit barely missed her. Looking at Dream, Twilight spoke, “I don't speak Frog! What should I say? Ribbit Ribbit? Croak Ribbit!” Twilight shouted at Dream in distress.
Dream looked shocked at Twilight as the Froggit that attacked her croaked and the second Froggits eyes widened. Twilight looked at the Froggit confused and then toward Dream her expression shocked. “What- what did I say? Was it something bad?” Twilight asked Dream unsure if she wanted to know the response.
Dream nodded slowly, “You said, “You look like a tadpol and your mothers a toad.” Dream said Twilight looked at Dream confused and then at the Froggit then back to Dream, rolling her eyes Dream sighed, “In their eyes tadpols are the weakest and they are not toads, they are Frogs! That’s like misrepresenting them entirely!”
Twilight looked at Dream with a even more dumbfounded expression. “You gotta be kidding me!” Twilight said as the Froggit jumped at her. Sidestepping the Froggit Twilight saw her chance. “Fine then! I got an idea,” Twilight started. Dream looked at her confused.
“An idea? What is it? Will you say sorry? Or maybe offer it the candy? Or offer friendship? Anything that does not lead to the destruction of these guys!” Dream asked as Twilight shook her head.
“Nope it’s time for my special attack !” Twilight stated confidently, Dream quietly waited to see as the froggit tilted its head in confusion. Twilight pointed at the Froggit and smirked, “With this attack you won’t be able to even beat me!” Twilight stated as the froggit prepared itself.
The froggit Ribbited twice, the second Froggit watched on in silence. Twilight went to push her glasses back up only to realize it wasn’t there. The room was silent for only a second until, “Watch out behind you!” Twilight shouted as she pointed behind the Froggit. Without thinking the two Froggit turned around.
Seeing nothing in the air behind them they turned to Twilight again, seeing nothing was there again the Froggit looked around confused and very surprised only to see Twilight running down the hall behind them.
Dream floating behind Twilight spoke with shock “This is your special attack!” Dream asked as Twilight ran into the next room. “You could have talked to them or just said sorry! You running makes it seem worst!” Dream yelled
“I don't care! I dont know how to fight! And it was two against one! It's not fair!” Twilight shouted as she heard the Froggits hopping after her.
Running into the next room Twilight wasn’t paying attention as she had turned to see the Froggit. Stepping into the ground of the next room, Twilight felt the ground under her crumble.
As Twilight started to fall into the hole, she looked around as her thoughts shouted “Not again!” Twilight landed softly on leaves as she grunted. Looking up at where she came Twilight could see the Froggit at the top looking down at her.
Shouting in fear, Twilight got up and started to run toward the door in front of her, climbing up the stairs Twilight was surrounded by darkness. “Watch your leg your going to stub your-“ Dream started only for a spike of pain to make itself present in Twilights foot. “Toe…”
“Ow ow ow!” Twilight shouted in pain, almost falling backwards only to get her footing once more. Dream, I can’t see! Where do i go? Why isn’t there any torches here to light the room?” Twilight asked as a chuckle echoed around the room.
Facing the darkness Twilight squinted in a attempt to stop Dream from chuckling. “You can’t see me can you?” Dream’s voice asked from Twilights left. Jumping in shock Twilight turned to face the ghost, opening her mouth to speak Twilight was interrupted by Dream. “Keep going up the stairs, there is an exit up there. And the Froggit won’t go past the flower patch come on!”
After walking up a few more steps, Twilight finally made it back to the room she was once in before. Looking to her left Twilight saw the two Froggit murmuring to one another, one seemed to want to chase Twilight again, the other seemed to be focused with another idea. Upon seeing Twilight exit the room the first started to Ribbit once more. Dream had been floating over the hole Twilight had made as the ribbits grabbed both of the girls attention. “He says “You got lucky this time human, next time your mother will be made fun of.” Dream explained quietly laughing at the Froggits reaction.
The two Froggits had started to hop away as Twilight looked at Dream with a confused but worried expression. “Will they come back? Are they going to hurt me?” Twilight asked as she then faced the hallway the Froggits had entered, “Sorry! I didn’t mean to make fun of your mother!” Twilight started. Dream had started to float toward Twilight with a smirk.
“Ah they are just messing with you, they don’t wanna hurt you. Plus they are harmless, any attack they make will be healed in the next save!” Dream stated, Twilight’s confused expression showed Dream she did not understand the statement. “The star thing, it lets you save so if you need to reload a situation you can.” Dream stated
Confused Twilight would look at Dream with a unsure expression, “What do you mean reload? Like regain my HOPE?” Twilight asked, a shake of Dreams head was all she got in return.
“No, think about it this way, we live in a world were the earth continues in one timeline right? Now imagine someone has a powerful force called determination. This unwavering soul never gives up but it also adds a new factor within our world. It allows you to reshape the path one is to go through, It’s like having a magical redo button in your pocket. When things don’t go the way you want, you can press that button and go back to a previous moment. It’s like rewinding time, giving you a chance to try again and make better choices.” Dream explained to Twilight who looked at her with an unsure expression.
“Are you sure this monster food doesn’t mess with your head?” Twilight asked as Dream’s excitement drooped quickly. “What your stating is bending and breaking the fabic of time. Things that continue without any of us. And your explaining that this soul has the ability to change that? It’s just not possible.” Twilight stated as they continued to walk.
“I swear it’s real, and now you have it. It’s a powerful tool of the universe and you have full control to use it. Whenever you want to redo a situation you felt that could be done better or even bring someone back from death at a certain point you can do it with just a reset.” Dream stated. Still unsure of Dream and her words, Twilight was left in thought.
“So with the power of this soul, the space time continuum bends at my will? But only at certain points…” Twilight started, Dream nodded expecting to hear Twilight understand it more only for a laugh to exit Twilight. “That would be insane! I mean could you imagine such power, people would live their days over and over with this. Time moves forward and we can’t change it. What is done is already done, if this were true then that throws a wrench into all of space time studies and quantum science!” Twilight stated as she stepped into the next room.
Dream let out a sigh and nodded, “I can understand your doubts but there is something special about people with determination! We have this ability to make a difference and-“ Before Dream could finish Twilights phone rang. Looking at her phone, Twilight saw one singular name “Toriel”
