The Urchin
Fight for Life
Previous ChapterDodger fled the alley and ran to a favorite place she liked to go; it was a late night burger joint and bar and the owner knew her well. She arrived and went to the owner, "Hey Lucky Charm....got that box I gave to you a few years ago?"
"Yeah it's in my office safe, here's the code for it. Are ya in trouble?" Dodger gave a simple nod and went into the office and retrieved her box. Opening it up was a semiautomatic pistol and holster. Strapping it to her hind leg and the extra clips she stuffed into her satchel. At that moment she heard Stormcloud and Talon cursing and she knew the only way out was the fire exit in the hallway. She just reached the aforementioned exit when she heard gun fire. Begining to sob she knew her old friend was dead and the continued gunshots told her that the patrons had been gunned down.
She was still running when a shadow overhead told her that a someone above her was following her. Looking up she saw Talon who tackled her as she drew her gun. In a blinding blur she and Talon rolled along the cobblestone and she soon was being pummeled. Through a swelling eye and the blows to her face she aimed her gun and fired and the shot killed Stormcloud easily enough; she double tapped a unicorn mare who dropped with two holes where her eyes had been.
Talon grabbed Dodger's horn and jerked her head to the left which caused her pain and the dropping of her pistol. Fearfully she watched as another gryphon who had joined the fray lifted a pry bar and slammed it into her ribs and barrel.
Dodger barely stood up and raised her gun as Talon stabbed her with a large knife. "Talon.....you dumb fuck! You should've never touched my kid sister! Now die you fucking asshole." She fired a whole flip of ammo into Talon's head through the brain stem and spine. The other gryphon saw that he he was next took flight only to be shot down and the beat by the saw pry bar he had used. The others soon turned to run but we're stopped by the Royal Guard with their rifles.
Dodger woke up in a hospital and she knew that if she could just recover then she'd sign herself out and run! She'd leave her sister with Shining Armor of course to keep her safe and voiced as much to the captain; she told him that it'll be safer for her sister with them being distanced for a time. The request had been accepted and Dodger in a span of two months tearfully left her sister behind as she hit the streets again.
