Around 9 months had passed, and those were some of the best 9 months of your life. After Vapor’s confession of her crush on you, the two of you were dating after 2 months. During your time in the academy, Vapor would offer help on stuff like homework and studying, but once you graduated the academy and joined the Wonderbolts alongside Vapor, everyone in the Wonderbolts referred to the two of you as Water Vapor, which convinced her to nickname you Aqua, which sounded neat and just so happened to be latin for water, so it fit well.

Another thing that happened was Sky breaking down. Apparently, once he had heard that you and Vapor were an item, he basically was very jealous of you. After weeks of him constantly giving you the death stare, Vapor finally did something about it, telling Sky that he was acting immature and if he couldn’t accept that you and her were together, she wouldn’t want anything to do with him from then on out. Seeing no ultimatum to this, he just sighed and apologized, but swore to you that if you broke his best friend’s heart, he’d break you, though you doubted that, as it looked like you could crush him with two fingers.

But right now, there was one event that truly plagued your mind: The Annual Wonderbolts Dance. It was a yearly dance for all Wonderbolts, and you knew exactly who to pick as your partner for the night, yet one thing you didn’t know was what she was going to wear, despite telling you that she would be wearing a dress

As you came out of your room, freshly dressed, you checked the clock. It was half past 6, and the train ride would take an hour, so catching the train now was Spitfire’s best option. Curious, you knocked on your marefriend’s door as an ‘eeep!’ came from behind it, “A-Aqua..?”

“Likewise Rainbow. So, everypony’s here?” Vapor asked as Bolt nodded

“Yep, looks like it. Good to see you, Aqua” Bolt said, smiling at you. Sometimes, the two of you would have lunch and talk about each other’s marefriends, and it’d always get a giggle out of the both of you.

“You too, Bolt. How’s Junior doing?” you asked him

“Eh, striving to be as awesome as his mother here, that’s for sure” Bolt teased, getting a bit of a flustered look from Rainbow

“Sometimes I just wanna tackle you… but I also can’t stay too mad at you” she said, kissing his cheek softly

“Alright everypony! Train’s here, so get your flanks on board!” Spitfire said as everypony got checked in and made their way on the train. You and Vapor took your seats as she wasted no time making herself comfortable, snuggling up to you.

“Yep, we’re here. Now c’mon, let’s not keep everypony waiting“ you said as you and her caught up to the rest of the Wonderbotls.

Once you had caught up with them all, your group passed through the many streets of Canterlot. It amazed you just how many businesses there were, and from the looks of things, a couple Inns and hotels had been built in Canterlot over the years. Along the way to the castle, you and the Wonder bolts stopped at the Tasty Treat, enjoying some of their meals. Most of the Wonderbolts had the Vegetable-style enchilada, while you and Bolt had fish fillet. The bill was easily covered, thanks to Captain Spitfire, and your group was out and about again.

After a few minutes, you all made it to Canterlot. The guards acknowledged your presence and let you all in, allowing you to make your way through the castle and to the throne room.

“Halt!“ said the guards at the door in unison, “What business do you have with the princess?” they looked at Spitfire

“Obviously, boys, we’re here for the Wonderbolt Dance. We simply came to the throne to speak with her royal highness before it began, is that okay, sirs?” she said, and it was clear that had sent shivers down both their spines

“Uh, n-not at all, Captain Spitfire, t-this way…” one said as the other opened the doors. Upon entering the throne room, you, and a couple of others, were surprised at the size of the throne room.

After walking in, you all were greeted by the prince of Equestria, and Twilight’s husband, Beau. He smiled as he sat on the throne, “Welcome everypony! Spitfire, pleasure to see you, and Rainbow Dash, good to see you as well. How are you all tonight?”

“We’re doing well, your highness. Do you by chance know where the princess is?” Spitfire asked, getting a chuckle from him

“She’s currently changing Harmony and putting her to bed, and will do the same to Moonlight. After that, she should be out so-” he was about to say as the same mare he was talking about, entered the room.

“Hi everypony! So glad you could make it! It didn’t take me long to put my kids to sleep, so with that out of the way, let’s get started, shall we?” she said, getting an affirmative nod from Spitfire, “Great! If you all would follow me and Beau, I’ll show you all to the ballroom” she said with a smile as her and Beau led you all out of the throne room and down the halls.

“Who knew the princess would be this kind?” you whispered to Vapor as she giggled and held your hand.

“She’s got more than just that. She’s been a hero to Equestria for years, not only that, but a big family too” Vapor explained as you all neared the ballroom, “Though, let’s not talk too much about that, you owe me something~”

“Owe you w-” you attempted to say as she just shushed you and you all reached the ballroom.

When you had all gotten into the ballroom, you saw several drinks. You were still 19, and Vapor was 21, so she could actually have alcohol, if wanted to. She could see the jealousy in your eyes, so she’d let you have a sip of hers here and there. There was plenty of food, prepared by Twilight’s finest chefs, so everypony had their fill, and was either dancing or chatting. You would’ve been dancing, too, but you were so stuffed and Vapor was a tad drunk, so dancing wasn’t quite the first thing to do.

After a while, you caught Twilight staring at you, but to be more specific, she was staring at your wings, looking as if she was fascinated by your wings. After a few more minutes, she approached your table, “Hello Vapor, hello Aqua, may I sit here?”

“Not a problem, princess” you said as she took a seat.

“So, are you two having a good time? I put a lot of time into organizing this” Twilight said, brushing her mane nervously

“Yes we are, princess. Saw you were staring at my boyfriend’s wings. Pretty impressive, aren’t they?” Vapor asked

“Not just impressive, Vapor, they’re unique. I’d say Aqua is the second human who has shown up in Equestria with something unique and different from the rest of our human population. How’d you get your wings, Aqua?” she asked you, getting a notepad from somewhere

“Dunno, guess I was just born with them. First sign was when I was 5. Didn’t get to use my wings” you said, which caused Twilight to gasp

“But why? Wings are a beautiful thing!” Twilight said, a little surprised

“Well, when you live in a society where wings aren’t a common thing, you risk the chance of being experimented on, and not in a good way” you said, causing Twilight to shudder.

“Well, while it’s sad that you couldn’t use your wings, it’s good that you feel at home in Equestria. Onto another topic, any plans for your relationship with Vapor?” she asked, causing Vapor to blush red

“Well, I do have something planned for tonight, but for now…” you said as the slow music kicked on and some ponies got with their partners and slow danced. You shared a glance with Vapor as she stood up, and you smiled, “...I promised my marefriend a dance~” you concluded as you got up and took her hand, heading for the dance floor

“Have fun, you two!” she called out as you and Vapor made it onto the dance floor. You locked eyes and hands with Vapor as she looked you in the eyes and smiled

“Care to dance, Vapor?” you asked her as she giggled and kissed your cheek

“Of course, trail walker~” she said as you began to dance with her, doing the waltz as you felt tons of energy from what was going on. You felt so lucky, having been given a second chance at life, and with a lovely mare, no doubt.

“Eh, consider it my thanks for giving us all a wonderful night, Twilight” you said, picking up your sleeping marefriend, which made Twilight giggle

“You’re absolutely welcome. Give Spitfire my thanks!” Twilight said as you nodded and exited the ballroom, meeting up with Spitfire. She sighed, having waited with everyone until you finished, but smiled seeing Vapor in your arms.

“Finally you’re done! Train should be here by now, let’s get to it before it leaves” she said as you all headed towards the exit of the castle

“I’m sure we’ll make it” you said, feeling your sleepy pegasus nuzzling your chest in her sleep

“I gotta say, Aqua. When I first met you, I figured you were just some reckless kid with too much recklessness, but when you risked your chance for her, that really made you stand out to me. I’d say Vapor’s lucky to have you, as you’re there for her almost any time” Spitfire explained, getting a smile out of you

“Thanks captain, I appreciate it” you said as you all got to the station.

“Whew, that was a crazy party. Dashie here fell asleep after her fifth glass of wine” Bolt said, carrying RD just like you were carrying Vapor.

Everypony got on the train and took their seats, and you allowed to lay in your lap and sleep on you. You thought it was cute how she wrapped her arms around you, as if you were a giant teddy bear, and in reality, you were here giant teddy bear, and had no problem with that at all.

Bolt was sitting across from you with a passed out RD in his lap, and he looked over at you and whispered, “Heh, quite the party, eh Aqua?”

You whispered back, “You could say that again. Think Vapor had like 3 drinks, and then she passed out. This was after we danced”

“You two did great on the dance floor. Everypony was looking at the two of you for a while. Guess you could say y’all lit up the dance floor” he praised you, petting RD as he yawned

“Thanks Bolt, I appreciate it” you said as he smiled and rested his head against his seat

“Not a problem, imma nap now. Talk to you later” he said as he closed his eyes and fell asleep

The whole train was silent as all that could be heard was the rattling of the tracks. You seemed to be the only one awake on the train. You checked your watch, and it looked to be 1 in the morning, so you kept an eye on your surroundings.

Once the train pulled into the station it was 2 AM, and everypony got off the train. They all went to their respective homes, and you flew home with a still-sleeping Vapor in your arms. Once everypony was tuckered out and exhausted, I helped clean up the ballroom, then we dipped and caught the train back to Ponyville, then I flew you up to our house in Cloudsdale. “It’s no problem, Vapor” you said, grabbing an empty cup and pouring her some coffee. After that, you felt her let go as she got out the milk and sugar. Unlike her, you liked yours strong, but she liked hers sweet, but you didn’t judge her. You put some milk in her coffee, then dumped two spoonfuls of sugar into her coffee, stirring it for her. After doing so, she took the coffee and took a sip, her face melting in joy at the taste.
