Equestria: Singular Point
Showdown with Godzilla
Previous ChapterJet Jaguar was flying through the crimson sandstorm of Archetype with the aid of his built-in propellor pack, carrying with him only one pony, Twilight Sparkle, who was holding the specially made device that Moon Dancer designed to detect fluctuations within the Archetype and to direct them to the source of the anomalous particles. But they were not alone, for they were also accompanied by an army of hundreds of dragons, led by Ember. Together, all of them were flying in the same general direction the robot was heading, following the loud buzzing of the device that acted as a compass. As they continued flying through the thick haze, Twilight could not help but occasionally glance over at their surroundings. Equestria was completely unrecognisable, with the continuous pouring of red particles and the growth of fleshy moss-like substance having all but mutated the once vibrant land into a hellish plane of existence beyond the mind's understanding whilst robbing every magical creature and object of their gifts, and that's not even getting into the monsters that now called this place home. Twilight banished those unpleasant thoughts from her mind and focused on the task at hoof.
They were on a mission to stop an even worse disaster from occurring, one that could very well end all of reality should they fail. They were heading towards the origin of the Archetype. The source of all these problems that have been plaguing them ever since the red mist manifested in Equestria.
They were heading to destroy the Singular Point.
.
Ponyville
Elsewhere, the Mane Five and Mane Six (minus Twilight) were currently in the heart of Ponyville, trying to comfort and assure the terrified populace that everything will be alright somehow. At this point, the Archetype had all but blanketed their town and shrouded it in red. It pained them to witness their beloved Ponyville be subjugated to the same horrors that now plagued all of Equestria. In fact, Ponyville was one of the last places in Equestria to be encompassed by the magic-absorbing red mist. Twilight's friends wanted to come with her, begging her that they should do this together, like they've always had. But the Princess of Friendship knew this mission was far too dangerous for all of them, especially as they were unable to defend themselves with magic. If any of her friends got hurt or worse, Twilight would blame herself and would live with that guilt for the rest of her life. Thus, it was only logical that she ordered them to stay behind and ensure the safety of the citizens in Ponyville in this darkest of times. Shortly after discussing their plan to locate and destroy the Singular Point, Twilight brough Sunny back and left with Jet Jaguar to join Ember's dragon army, despite Sunny's protests to come along.
From Canterlot, the Mane Six and Mane Five saw the massive wave of Archetype approaching Ponyville like a sandstorm, forcing them to head down towards the town with Anguirus and Spike in order to comfort and assure the safety of populace as Twilight ordered them to. Even amidst overwhelming odds where it was all too easy to fall into despair, the heroes of Equestria had to maintain hope. Hope that Twilight and Jet Jaguar will succeed in saving them all.
"This sucks. I still say Twilight should've let us tag along." Rainbow Dash frowned, stamping her hoof in frustration.
"I hate to disagree with you, but she did have a point. This is way out of our league, Rainbow." Zipp reasoned.
"I'm also worried about Jet Jaguar. He could get his fans damaged up there." Sunny said in concern.
"Not sure if that's much of a concern when they have a literal army of dragons by their side." Pipp inquired. "Seriously, where are the dragons in our time?"
"Maybe they're in some kind of magical hibernation from the lack of magic?" Izzy shrugged.
"I'm not sure if dragons hibernate, honestly." Spike said. "At least, not that I know of."
"Well, whatever the case. All we can do now is hope that Princess Twilight and Jet Jaguar will fix this." Hitch said hopefully. "That said, I kind of wanted to meet this Dragon Lord she mentioned. What was she like?"
"Oh, she's awesome! She's strong, assertive, and knows how to keep all the other dragons in line." Sunny said excitedly. "In short, she's a perfect leader."
"Heh. No surprise there. In fact, I'm the one who helped Ember become the Dragon Lord after we won the Gauntlet of Fire." Spike declared proudly, puffing up his chest.
"Is that so? You must be pretty tough to pull that off." Zipp complemented the little dragon, who rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Well, at least some of us are enjoying this. Can't say I enjoy being a spectator, though." Rainbow grumbled.
From the corner of her eye, Applejack spotted something from behind, "Um... Rainbow, Ah think your wish might be granted. Look!" The farm pony said before pointing at the particular direction, prompting her friends to look over to where she was pointing at. The ponies watched in horror as several new creatures were emerging from the crimson haze and began entering Ponyville.
They looked like giant spiders and closely resembled the Kumongas that attacked Smolder, Silverstream, Ocellus, Yona, Sandbar and Gallus in their treehouse. However, these particular ones were a little different from the Kumongas. While their bodies were mostly identical — being dark green with yellow stripes, having four small blue eyes on the heads, and two larger yellow eyes located on the sides of their heads — in the place of metallic drills, their first pair of legs were scythe-like blades that resembled metallic sickles, which were nearly as large as the arachnid's body. In addition, two more variations of these creatures descended from the sky and landed beside their terrestrial counterpart. One variation resembled Kumonga but with four insect-like wings, while the other resembled a winged version of the scythe-legged spider. There were twenty of them, and each of the spiders had four pairs of mandibles that were dripping with saliva, a strong indication that they were hungry, and were planning on having the ponies of Ponyville on their menu.
These new creatures were Kamanga (the scythe-legged spiders), Hanenga (the winged Kumongas), and Zenbunga (the winged Kamangas).
"What in the name of Equestria are those things!?" Rarity stepped back in shock and disgust at the sight of the giant arachnids.
"We've already established that the Archetype creates monsters, so I guess that's what these probably are." Hitch gulped, getting an uneasy feeling about this.
"Why did it have to be giant spiders, of all things!?" Pipp screamed in fright while hiding behind Anguirus' foreleg. The ankylosaur growled and roared at the monstrous arachnids, which responded with loud hisses and screeches as they began advancing towards the Mane Six and Mane Five.
"For the record, Rainbow, I'm blaming you for this." Zipp shot the cyan pegasus an annoyed glare, to which the latter smiled sheepishly at. With that, the ponies, the little dragon and the ankylosaur prepared for yet another battle for their lives.
.
"How close until we reach this Singular Point thing, or whatever you call it?" Ember asked, flying beside Jet Jaguar and Twilight.
"I think we're getting close. The signal's getting stronger." Twilight replied, observing the device that was in her hooves buzzing loudly and more frequently — a strong indication that they were finally nearing the Singular Point. It wasn't just the device that was acting up, Jet Jaguar was also producing a loud beeping sound from his 'mouth', and his eyes were flashing in sync with the device's beeping. The last time he did this was when he detected the manifestation of Archetype and arrival of Salunga in Canterlot. Twilight could only hope that they won't run into any more obstacles on their way there.
"We have company heading our way!" One of the dragons suddenly exclaimed, pointing up ahead at a huge flock of Rodans heading directly towards the dragon army. The pterosaurs were letting out loud screeches, as if to directly challenge the dragons.
Twilight sighed. Of course it wouldn't be that easy. It never is.
Most creatures would turn tail and flee at the sight of a dragon army, especially one as huge as this, but the Rodans didn't seem intimidated in the slightest. If nothing else, these things were certainly fearless, Ember had to admit. Either that, or completely foolish. Still, she wasn't about to let these small fries get in the way of their mission, especially as they were so very close. "Take them out!" The Dragon Lord ordered. Obeying her order, most of the dragons unleashed their fire breaths at the incoming pterosaurs; some shooting only quick fireballs while others unleashed entire waves of fire. Either way, the Rodans began dropping from the sky like flies, each suffering varying degrees of burns as they fell. In a span of a few minutes, more than half of the flock was downed, yet they still persisted in spite of their ever-decreasing numbers.
"Tch. These things are persistent, I'll give 'em that." Garbled growled as he shot a fireball at another of the pterosaurs.
"Keep at it. We're already wearing their numbers down." Ember said whilst unleashing her own fire breath at them.
Suddenly, the remaining Rodans ceased their suicidal onslaught before they screeched loudly at each other and scattered away in different directions, allow the dragons and Jet Jaguar to continue flying onwards unimpeded.
"Look at that, they're flying away scared. We showed them who rules the skies!" Clump gloated.
"Somehow, I don't think it's us they're flying away from." Twilight said uneasily, getting a very bad feeling about this. While it is entirely possible that the Rodans did indeed relent from the firepower of the dragons after so many of them fell, her gut feeling was telling her that they fled from something else entirely.
"We literally just took our half of their numbers. What else could they be afraid of?" Garble asked.
As if fate wanted to personally answer his question, all of them noticed a massive figure emerging from the crimson haze in front of them. At first, they assumed it to be a small mountain or a large rock formation, as visibility was rather low in this thick haze. But they quickly realized that neither of those assumptions were correct. All of the dragons, Twilight and Jet Jaguar nearly froze in shock as the gigantic form of a bipedal, wingless dragon-like creature was slowly revealed before them, unlike anything they had seen before. The word 'big' could not begin to describe this creature, as its body was nearly the size of a mountain and covered in black-charcoal scales that resembled segmented armoured skin. Rows of bone-white plate-shaped spines adorned its back and ran down its long tail. The beast sported a pair of pronounced fangs on its upper jaw, two muscular legs, relatively small arms tipped with four claws each, and numerous smaller white spikes located atop its head and down the back of its muscular neck. In many ways, this creature also reminded Twilight of what Spike became when he succumbed to greed-induced growth, apart from being significantly larger. In short, this was a creature not to be trifled with, even by dragons.
After all, this monster was none other than Godzilla himself.
"What in Equestria is that?" Ember asked. Her eyes, widened in disbelief and awe, were glued to the huge creature that stood before them, as were those everyone around her.
Twilight was snapped out of her shock by the loud sound of the device, noticing that it was buzzing uncontrollably in the presence of this giant creature. It wasn't long before her confusion gave way to shock as she quickly put two and two together in her mind. Her eyes widened in horror as she slowly realized what they were looking at, as much as she wanted to deny it. "I... I think that creature might be the Singular Point..." She finally spoke out her thoughts. All this time, she had assumed that the Singular Point was probably some kind of portal located somewhere in Equestria, similar to the mirror dimension to the human world. It never once occurred to her of the possibility that it could be something else, and a gigantic monster was about the last thing she expected the Singular Point to be.
"Wait. Are you serious!?" The Dragon Lord asked, looking at her in disbelief.
"The device is buzzing at its limit. It's either that, or the Singular Point is somehow inside of that thing. Though I'm willing to bet it's the former."
"Well, in that case. Do what we came here to do." Ember said, gesturing towards the robot.
"Right." Twilight frowned and nodded in understanding. Regardless of what the Singular Point is, Jet Jaguar should still be able to hopefully stop it. But before they could go along with their plan, Godzilla suddenly turned his head towards the approaching dragon army, and narrowed his eyes at Jet Jaguar in particular, as if somehow knowing that he was carrying something against him.
"He spotted us!" The princess exclaimed in alarm.
That was when the maple leaf-shaped plates on Godzilla's back started glowing with a bright blue colour, followed by a row of seven glowing energy hoops composed of the same light manifesting in front of his open mouth. The Monster King turned to face the dragons fully, with Jet Jaguar and Twilight finding themselves right in front of the center of the glowing halos, staring directly through the row and into his wide open mouth.
.
Things in Ponyville were in complete chaos. The entire town was panicking like crazy, and ponies running all over the place, screaming in terror. And who could blame them, as the town was under attack by the giant arachnids; Kamanga, Hanenga, and Zenbunga. Kamangas were chasing ponies on the ground or destroying buildings, while the Hanengas and Zenbungas patrolled the sky over Ponyville, clinging onto structures or divebombing ponies from the air. The Mane Six and Mane Five were doing their best to divert the attention of the monstrous arachnids away from the populace with varying degrees of success. This was made all the more problematic due to most of them being powerless, which made fighting off the arachnids nearly impossible. Anguirus and Spike were the only ones having success in their task.
"Wow!" Sunny exclaimed as she ducked down to avoid the slash of a Kamanga. The beast raised its other sickle to try and slice her in half, only to find it restrained by a rope, courtesy of Applejack from behind.
"Sunny, run!" The farm pony exclaimed through gritted teeth that held onto the rope tightly.
Obeying her friend quickly, the apricot pony turned and hurriedly galloped away just as the arachnid freed its sickle and turned to attack Applejack — only to be intercepted by a blast of green fire from Spike, causing the creature to screech in pain, allowing the farm pony to also get away.
"Alright, Izzy! Let's show these meanies what our Party Canons can do!" Exclaimed Pinkie Pie.
"You got it, Pinkie!" Izzy said.
The two ponies had two extra-large canons in front of them that seemingly appeared out of nowhere, which were aimed at a Zenbunga and a Kamanga that were approaching them menacingly.
"Fire!" Pinkie exclaimed as she and the lilac unicorn both pulled the triggers of their respective canons, causing both canons to fire real cannonballs with a loud bang. The cannonballs struck both arachnids squarely in their heads, sending them flying backwards before crashing into an abandoned house.
"Yeah!" Pinkie and Izzy high-fived at their victory.
"Normally, my Party Canons fire desserts and confetti. But in this case, desperate times call for desperate measures." Pinkie said.
Elsewhere, a Hanenga landed in front of Rainbow Dash. "This is so unfair! If only I could still fly, this would've been a piece of cake!" The cyan pony exclaimed in frustration as the monster got ready to attack. The flying arachnid raised both its drill-like claws, ready to impale the blue pegasus with them. Rainbow responded quickly by jumping forward to avoid the deadly drills, which sunk into the ground after missing their target, before going underneath the Hanenga's body. "Take this!" She yelled before using her hind hooves to deliver a double kick to the arachnid's underside. While nowhere near as strong as Applejack's kicks, it was still enough to cause the beast to screech in pain and back away from the blue pony.
Anguirus was surrounded on all sides by two Zenbungas, a Kamanga, and a Hanenga. The ankylosaur growled as he stood his ground to protect Fluttershy and Pipp Petals, who were underneath his large body, looking around their surroundings in fear. One of the Zenbungas tried to attack him from behind, only to get swatted several dozen feet away by Anguirus' club-tipped tail, the blow shattering its exoskeleton in the process. As he did that, the Kamanga jumped onto his back and started attacking, trying to pierce his armoured hide with its sickle claws, but to no avail. Anguirus growled, normally he'd rollover or deliberately fall on his back to crush the nuisance, but doing so would leave Fluttershy and Pipp vulnerable to the remaining arachnids, so he stood his ground (not that the Kamanga was doing any damage regardless). The other Zenbunga then lunged at him, aiming to slash at his comparably more vulnerable head with one of its claws, only for Anguirus to turn his head and clamp his jaws on the incoming sickle, catching it in his mouth mid-attack. As the Hanenga came in to attack him next, Anguirus (still holding onto the struggling Zenbunga with his jaws) swung his head around and smashed the flying monster with its fellow arachnid, downing them both.
"Get off of him!" Hitch yelled as he threw several rocks at the Kamanga that was still atop Anguirus' back. This irritated the arachnid which shifted its attention on the sheriff of Maretime Bay. Hitch gulped as the Kamanga jumped down, ready to attack him... only get be sent flying away by a well-aimed swing from the ankylosaur's tail.
Anguiurs looked at Hitch and grunted in approval at his help. "Heh. No problem, big guy!" Hitch smiled.
Suddenly, all activity and attacks from the giant arachnids came to an unexpected halt when both they and the ponies they were terrorizing spotted a bright, neon-blue light in the distance, less than a kilometre away from Ponyville. As the glow grew brighter and more intense, the ponies of the town and their attackers saw that it was coming from an absolutely gigantic creature that vaguely resembled a dragon (minus the wings), with the ominous light coming from the spikes that adorned his back and the row of seven energy rings that hovered in front of his open mouth. Had it not been for the contrasting coloration of the bright light to its surrounding, Godzilla would have been obscured by the thickness of the mist and unseen by the inhabitants of Ponyville.
"What. Is. THAT?!" Pipp practically screamed, her voice edging on complete panic at the sight of the towering new monster.
"Whatever it is, it can't be good." Zipp gulped.
.
Twilight felt like all her instincts were screaming at her, telling her to get out of the way right now as the blue light from Godzilla intensified. This, coupled with the monster's murderous gaze towards them, was all she needed to heed her instinct's warnings. "Ember, tell the dragons to get out of the way now!" She exclaimed as Jet Jaguar veered sharpy to the left, out of Godzilla's line of sight.
"Move!" Ember roared out before following Jet Jaguar's lead, as did all the other dragons behind her. A second later, Godzilla fired his Atomic Breath through his energy rings directly at the dragon army. Whilst most of the dragons managed to avoid the deadly beam in time, many others were not so fortunate. Ember and Twilight watched in horror as the unlucky dragons were instantly vaporized by the blue beam, their silhouettes within the light visible for a fraction of a second before being reduced to nothingness. And just like that, nearly half of the dragon army was gone in an instant and no remains were left. The surviving dragons looked back in shock, horror and disbelief as the gravity of their situation sunk in. Here they thought that this would be an easy one-and-done mission, that no creature would be able to impede them. But this mountain of a monster just took out half of their army as effortlessly as swatting a bunch of flies.
How are they supposed to win against that?
.
In Ponyville, everypony was left in complete and utter horror upon witnessing Godzilla unleash his ultimate weapon from his mouth, with the glowing halos ballooning to many times their original size when the beam shot through them. Soon after he finished firing his attack, Godzilla closed his mouth, causing the beam to dissipate and the glowing row of halos disappeared along with the blue glow altogether, causing the monster to again become obscured from their view. While they didn't know what exactly was going on, all of them knew an attack when they saw one. And it didn't take a genius like Twilight to calculate that the Atomic Breath they just witnessed had a range that could very easily reach and strike Ponyville even from that distance if Godzilla wanted to, and there was nothing they could do about it.
"Please tell me you all just saw that." Rarity was nearly speechless.
"We did. But we really wish that we didn't right now." Hitch murmured, his trembling voice barely audible.
"This...This isn't happening, right?" Pipp said in disbelief, despair threatening to take control of her mind.
"Ah wish ah could agree with ya', partner." Applejack gulped.
As if being depowered and getting attacked by giant flying spiders was not bad enough, they now needed to also worry about getting wiped out by a stray blast from a gigantic monster that was less than a kilometre away from their town, and that's not even taking into account the race against time with the Archetype slowly destroying reality. If there was any miracle out there, they desperately needed it right now.
That was when Hitch noticed something overhead, "Uhh... Is this something that normally happens around here?" The sheriff asked as he pointed his hoof up at a large swarm of odd-looking butterflies fluttering overhead, having seemingly appeared out of thin air in the heart of Ponyville. Their wings were a mix of yellow and brown splotches, with white stripes near their bodies. Each of their four wings were decorated by a red dot outlined in bands of white, yellow and brown. The insects had deep blue eyes and seemed to be producing a yellowish powder-like substance from their wings that rained down on Ponyville and its citizens like snow as they fluttered in the air. The sight would be beautiful and awe-inspiring if it didn't occur at such unfortunate circumstances and dark times.
"Do you know what type of butterflies those are?" Pipp asked Fluttershy while reaching out with her hoof to touch the raining particles.
"I'm not sure." The yellow pegasus said, studying the strange butterflies curiously. "I've never seen butterflies quite like those before."
"While they're nice and all, I think we have more important things to-" Zipp's words caught in her throat when she suddenly felt a strange sensation wash over her body soon after the golden powder rained down on her. She wasn't sure how to describe it exactly, but the best way she could put it would be equivalent to having something being returned to her. She soon realized what that 'something' is when she heard Rarity suddenly exclaim in surprise.
"Oh, my! My magic is back!" The seamstress said in excitement and surprise, igniting her horn to show them that her magic had indeed returned somehow.
"Mine, too!" Izzy exclaimed, lighting up her own horn.
"And I can fly again!" The now enthusiastic Rainbow Dash cried out as she shot upwards and hovered in the air, delighted to be able to return to the sky again. But it was not just the ten of them who were seemingly blessed by this miracle, every other pony in Ponyville who had lost their magic to the Archetype were also in the process of getting it back, despite still being in the presence of the same red mist that took it.
"But how's this possible? Didn't the Archetype absorb our magic?" Hitch asked, both puzzled and grateful by this phenomenon.
"It must be the scales from those butterflies!" Fluttershy stated, noting that the resurgence of their magic coincided with the manifestation of these mysterious insects. Moreover, their magic returned only after the ponies came in contact with the powder-like scales that the butterflies were continuously shedding from their wings. "I think they're giving our magic back somehow."
Indeed, the yellow pegasus was correct, for these were no ordinary butterflies; they were Mothras.
"Whatever they did, I definitely owe them one!" Rainbow smiled at the yellow butterflies that fluttered beside her in the air. That was when she heard a loud screech from behind and turned to see a Hanenga flying towards her, aiming to strike her with its sickle. Grinning with confidence, the blue pegasus effortlessly dodged the monster's slash attack before flying repeated circles around the arachnid with such speed that it left it spinning like a fidget spinner and disorientating it.
Seeing this, the rest of the ponies felt their confidence resurfacing and their hopes being restored as they got ready to battle their adversaries now that they've been given another fighting chance.
.
Twilight and the surviving dragons hovered beside the kaiju's form, still in shock at the unexpected, yet powerful attack that Godzilla unleashed on them, and horrified at the sight of the unfortunate dragons who were caught in the beam's path getting reduced to nothingness. That image will haunt them for the rest of their lives if they live through this. Ember tightened her fists and clenched her teeth; she knew something like this might occur, but even she was unprepared for the reality of what they would be facing. Right now, she wanted nothing less than to avenge her fallen subjects and destroy this abomination that was a mockery of her species. But she had to keep her emotions under control, knowing that as things are now, neither she nor her remaining dragons stood any chance against this monstrosity after witnessing it annihilate so many dragons so casually.
Having just witnessed Godzilla fire a deadly beam from his mouth and having also noticed that his arms are too short to reach them, the Princess of Friendship came up with a solution. "Keep out of his way! We'll take him from behind!" Twilight instructed, prompting Jet Jaguar and the dragons to fly behind Godzilla's massive body, where his dorsal plates are located, and seemingly out of his attack range. "Okay, I think we're safe for now. Jet Jaguar, do you think you can-"
"Watch out!" Ember cried out moments before Godzilla's huge tail suddenly came swinging at them from behind like a sledgehammer. Jet Jaguar quickly moved out of the way and barely dodge the building-sized tail, which whacked one of his propellor fans, causing the robot to lose his stability and fly erratically in the air. Twilight screamed as everything was twisting, turning, and spinning chaotically in all directions from her view. Luckily, Jet Jaguar manages to reach out and grab hold of the tip of the nearest dorsal spine, stopping them from plummeting to the ground or crashing into the Monster King's body. With his propellor pack now damaged and unable to fly properly, Jet Jaguar held Twilight tightly in one arm as they dangled from Godzilla's dorsal spine. Twilight couldn't tell how high they were right now due to the thick haze obscuring the ground but given that this monster was the size of a small mountain, she didn't wish to know the answer to that right now. Panic gripped her body, she could do nothing but helplessly watch as the dragons tried to distract Godzilla by breathing fire at his face and head. This only served to annoy the Monster King who roared at them furiously.
*SKREOOOOONGK!*
The roar was deafening, especially since Twilight was so close to the kaiju.
"Twilight!" Ember cried out as she flew over to them before stopping to hover in front of the dangling duo. "We need to get out of here! It's too dangerous!"
"But... we have to stop the Archetype!" The alicorn protested.
"There's no time! He can't hold on for much longer!" Ember pointed at Jet Jaguar, who was steadily losing his grip.
"There has to be SOMETHING we can do!"
"There is: I'm taking you to back to Ponyville, while we deal with this monster!" Ember replied.
Before Twilight could protest any further, Jet Jaguar completely lost his grip and began plummeting downwards — but not before he managed to throw Twilight at Ember, who caught her in her arms. "Jet Jaguar!" Twilight cried out in horror and anguish, helplessly watching as her robot friend plummet down into the crimson abyss, where he disappeared from view. And just like that, he was gone. The only known thing that can stop the Archetype, and more importantly, a close friend of hers... was gone. Tears fell from the corner of her eyes and ran down her cheeks as her body went numb.
"I'm sorry, Twilight. I'm so sorry." Ember said sympathetically, hugging the motionless alicorn tightly in her arms. With that, the Dragon Lord began flying in the direction of Ponyville, carrying the distraught pony in her arms.
.
Back in Ponyville, things had become much more even after the ponies regained their magic thanks to the Mothras. Unicorns were firing energy beams at the arachnids left and right, using energy shields to block their attacks, or utilizing a variety of other spells. Whilst up in the sky, the Pegasi were using their superior manoeuvrability and aerodynamics to their advantage against the flying variants. Speaking of the aerial battle, Rainbow Dash was leading a Zenbunga that was chasing her into a Hanenga that was hot on Zipp's tail, who, in turn, was also making a beeline towards the blue pegasus and her pursuer. As the two Pegasi and their respective pursuers looked like they were about to crash into each other, Rainbow and Zipp made sharp upward turns at the same time mere inches from one another, causing the Hanenga and Zenbunga that were chasing them to instead smash into each other before falling to the ground.
"Yeah!" Rainbow and Zipp high-fived each other at their victory.
"You might not be a Wonderbolt, but you definitely have the spirit of one." Rainbow complimented her friend.
Back on the ground, Pinkie screamed in fright as a Kamanga had her cornered against a wall. The arachnid opens its four pairs of mandibles to reveal a second set of mandibles which concealed its mouth that was dripping with saliva. Before the beast could begin its feast, a purple-colored energy beam was shot at the arachnid, striking it in the head and causing it to back away from the pink pony, screeching in pain. Looking to her left, Pinkie saw that the blast came from Izzy Moonbow, who's horn was ignited with magic.
"Leave her alone, you big meanie!" The lilac unicorn growled.
"Thanks, Izzy!" Pinkie jumped towards her. "You saved me from becoming spider chow!"
"Oh, shucks! That's just what friends do!" Izzy smiled.
"Heads up, ya'll! We've got more incomin'!" Applejack pointed up at the sky, spotting a winged silhouette descending towards them. The ponies prepared to engage the unknown threat, horns ignited and wings spread, but quickly stopped themselves when the figure revealed itself to be Ember carrying a motionless Twilight in her arms.
"TWILIGHT!"
The ten ponies rushed over as the Dragon Lord landed on the ground and gently set the princess down. Twilight, in particular, looked traumatized and unresponsive, which made her friends all the more worried.
"What happened out there? Where's Jet Jaguar?" Sunny asked worriedly.
"Did you destroy the Singular Point?" Rainbow asked hopefully.
"No. The Singular Point is not what we thought it was. The Singular Point... is a giant monster that's bigger than a mountain and more powerful than any threat we've faced before." The princess revealed through her trembling voice, her horrified expression unwavering. Their faces fell, and they quickly put together in their minds that the huge creature they all witnessed firing a blue energy blast from its mouth not too long ago was probably the same one Twilight was referring to. "It destroyed most of the dragons. And Jet Jaguar... he sacrificed himself to save me!" Tears streamed from the princess' eyes as she revealed this.
The ten ponies, especially Sunny, felt like time stood still as their minds processed each word Twilight spoke. Half of the dragons Ember commanded, and Jet Jaguar were gone. Destroyed by the same monster that is less than a kilometre from Ponyville right now. The energy attack they saw the beast unleash was probably aimed at the dragon army, whom they couldn't see due to the thick red mist and the fact they were so far away. Suffice to say, they were all beyond horrified to learn of this shocking discovery.
"No. This... this can't be happening." Pipp spoke, struggling to accept what she just heard.
"I'm sorry, Pipp. But we tried."
Just then, a Hanenga landed near the ponies, hissing loudly and preparing to attack them. Twilight and her friend screamed and instinctively huddled together, along with Ember, just as the arachnid raised its body to strike them with its twin drills. But before it could do just that, a transparent dome-shaped barrier suddenly manifested over the ponies and the dragon, blocking the beast's strike in the nick of time. The Hanenga stumbled back as its drills ricochet off the magical surface, surprised by the sudden barrier. Even so, the monstrous arthropod struck at the barrier again, attempting to break through, only for the same result to occur. Sensing that they were still unharmed, Twilight hesitantly opened her eyes and stared in surprise; partly because there was a magical barrier protecting them, and partly because it was coming from none other than herself. After so many battles with so many foes, her mind became high-wired to instinctively conjure shields when startled or surprised. But what surprised Twilight the most was the fact that she was projecting this force-field at all.
"Huh? My magic, its back!" She exclaimed in a mixture of surprise and confusion, her sorrow momentarily forgotten.
"You're not the only one, Twi!" Rainbow said as she hovered in the air proudly, as did Zipp, Fluttershy, and Pipp.
"We all have our magic back!" Izzy happily said, igniting her horn for proof.
"But how?" Was all she could ask.
"I guess you can thank those butterflies." Hitch pointed up at the swarm of Mothras fluttering in the sky over Ponyville, continuously shedding whisps of yellow particles from their wings in mass. "Ever since those little critters showed up here, everypony's been getting their magic back."
"More specifically, it looks like coming into contact with their scales is what's returning our magic." Zipp inquired, landing back on the ground.
For the first time since coming up with her initial plan to stop the Archetype, Twilight felt hope. Hope that she had nearly given up on after seeing Jet Jaguar sacrifice himself to save her. Her hard work and journey were not in vain, and now she and her friends have been given a second chance to save the world. Turning to the Hanenga that was still banging on her shield repeatedly, Twilight narrowed her eyes and fired a devastating beam from her horn at the arachnid, blowing it clear out of Ponyville. Twilight then dissipates her shield before noticing that many of the other arachnids were now closing in around them. Frowning, her horn ignites with magic once again before she conjures another dome-shaped barrier that spreads outwards to her surrounding, the barrier itself only tangible to the arachnids and nothing else. Much like how Shining Armor and Cadance defeated Chrysalis and her minions in Canterlot, Twilight's barrier rapidly grew bigger and bigger, expanding outwards to encompass all of Ponyville, and in the process, pushing and ejecting all of the remaining Kamangas, Hanengas, and Zenbungas out of Ponyville, sending them all flying outwards in all directions far away from the town, where they disappeared out of sight. And just like that, Ponyville and its citizens was safe and sound for the time being.
Once everypony was safe, Twilight dissipated her spell as her friends smiled at her in pride, whilst Sunny and her friends were left speechless with their mouths hanging open at the sheer display of magical power. At the same time, Spike and Anguirus also joined them, surprised and relieved that Twilight was alright.
"Sorry. I was working out some frustration back there." Twilight smiled sheepishly.
"That. Was. Amazing! How did you manage to do that?!" Pipp cried out in awe and astonishment.
"She's the ruler of Equestria and the leader of the Guardians of Harmony. Duh." Zipp stated matter-of-factly.
"Remind me not to get on her bad side, Spike." Ember said to the little dragon, part-jokingly and part-seriously.
"Heh. You got it, Ember." Spike smiled.
"So, now that we have our magic back, do you have any kind of plan?" Applejack asked her friend.
"Yeah. We're going back there to find... what's left of Jet Jaguar." Twilight said this with hesitation, whilst hoping he was still alive. "And use that device inside him to activate it against the Singular Point." Though it disgusted all of them to disrespect Jet Jaguar's remains, even if he was a robot, they knew that they needed the device that was inside of him to defeat Godzilla. It was their only sure way of saving the world.
"Count us in, then!" Izzy exclaimed excitedly.
"No. You guys and Sunny are staying here with Anguirus." Twilight asserted. "You all know what happened back there. I don't want you to end up like Jet Jaguar."
Initially, Sunny and her friends wanted to protest against her. But after witnessing the terrifying power that Godzilla displayed and hearing what he did to the unfortunate dragons that couldn't get away in time, they did not have much choice in the matter.
"Alright, Twilight. You go and kick that monster's butt!" Sunny smiled.
"We will." Twilight smiled back. With that, the Princess of Friendship used her magic to create a platform construct for Rarity, Pinkie and Applejack to stand on as she spread her wings and took off alongside Rainbow, Fluttershy, Spike and Ember.
Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, Zipp, Pipp, and Anguirus watched as the Guardians of Harmony ascended higher before disappearing into the red mist once again.
"Good luck, Twilight." Sunny said to herself quietly.
.
"Twilight, any ideas on how we'll find Jet Jaguar down there?" Spike asked, flying beside his adopted sister. "I mean, finding him isn't gonna be easy with all this red dust in the way."
"We'll just have to work faster. Ember and her dragons will keep the monster distracted while we do that." Twilight reasoned, determined to end this as quickly as possible.
"Um... Can we just talk things out with him?" Fluttershy meekly suggested. "What if this creature is like Anguirus, and this is all just another big misunderstanding?"
"Trust me, Fluttershy. This monster is nothing like Anguirus." Twilight warned sternly. "The moment he saw us, he tried to destroy us without warning or provocation." This revelation causes the yellow pegasus to gasp in fright and made the rest of her friends even more uneasy going into this.
"Well, that's... informative to hear." Rarity gulped, having second thoughts.
"So, then I guess we can go all out against this monster." Rainbow smirked, eager to teach this monster that when he messes with her friend, he messes with all of them.
"Guys... I think we're here." Ember said as she pointed up ahead, prompting the ponies and Spike to look at where she was pointing towards. The five ponies collectively gasped at the towering silhouette that they were now fast approaching, accompanied by the flashes of fire being spewed by the comparable smaller silhouettes that were the dragons flying around the kaiju, attacking him with their fire breaths (not that they were doing any damage).
With heavy footsteps that could be heard through the area, the demonic reptilian loomed through the engorging clouds of red dust that were of his own making, growling in irritation at the constant attacks as he loomed over Twilight and her friends like a living mountain; his fearsome gaze focused solely on the dragons that were peppering him with their fireballs. Rainbow, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity and Spike felt their jaws drop at the sheer scale of the towering behemoth. It was one thing to see this monstrosity from a kilometre away, but it was quite another to see him so up-close and personal. Even going by looks alone, this monster made even the most dangerous and fearsome creatures locked in Tartarus seem like harmless critters by comparison. Even in some of their worst nightmares, the ponies could not fathom the existence of such a terrifying creature existing, much less one that was rampaging through Equestria and threatening the existence of reality. But here they were, seeing precisely that.
"That... That is beyond massive!" Rarity screeched, her anxiety and adrenaline going into overdrive. It was taking all of her will power not to devolve into an uncontrollable state of panic.
"How are we all supposed to win against that?!" Rainbow Dash asked, her initial confidence and enthusiasm had all but faded away, replaced by sheer terror and awe.
"The device inside Jet Jaguar. It's the only thing capable of stopping it." The princess reminded them.
Fluttershy said nothing and instead stared into Godzilla's draconic eyes, not to subdue him with the Stare — she knew even that probably won't work on him — but because she recognised something about him, as if she had seen this particular creature before. Being an expert on animals and many other creatures, Fluttershy had a talent for noticing small visual details and aspects of a creature — and right now, she had noticed something about Godzilla that her friends could not see. Namely, his eyes were the same as those of the red sea monster that confronted her and her friends at the beach, one that metamorphosed into a more terrestrial form upon coming ashore. While the possibility of this being another monster, unrelated to the creature they saw turn itself into an obsidian statue was plausible, something in her soul was telling her otherwise.
Her gut feeling and instincts were telling her the beast that was before them right now was the same creature that she and her friends witnessed come ashore before metamorphosing and transforming itself into a statue.
"You guys go on ahead." Ember said, cracking her knuckles and glaring at the Monster King hatefully. "I've got a score to settle with this freak."
Nodding in response, the Mane Six and Spike split off from the Dragon Lord and head downwards whilst Ember went to join her dragons in their relentless attack against Godzilla. Thankfully, the saurian didn't appear to notice the six ponies as they descended down, and instead focused his wrath on the annoying dragons bombarding him with their fire. Because they swarmed so close to his head and body (especially around his back area), it was nearly impossible for Godzilla to blast the dragons with his Atomic Breath, and his arms were too short to simply reach out and grab them. The most Godzilla could do was try to swat at them with his long tail or snap at them with his jaws if they got too close to his head. Ironically, it was Godzilla's huge size that was proving to be his greatest disadvantage in this instance, as it allowed the smaller dragons to easily outmanuver him and stay within his blind spots where he could not reach them (mostly). The irony wasn't lost on the dragons, especially Ember. Dragons often prided themselves for their size and firepower, but after getting humbled by Godzilla, who exceeded them in every aspect except flight, they found themselves being grateful for their apparent 'inferiority'.
Meanwhile, the Mane Six and Spike continued flying downwards, moving at a steady pace as to not accidentally crash into the ground. As they descended further, they saw more of the towering beast's huge form. One thing that caught their attention in particular were the leaf-shaped dorsal plates that adorned his back. Upon seeing those, Fluttershy immediately noted in her mind that they looked identical to those of the previous form (apart from now having three rows instead of just one).
"Hey, um... Twilight?" Fluttershy asked as they neared the ground.
"Yeah?"
"I know this might sound odd, but I think this creature is the same one we saw emerge from the sea." This statement caused her friends to look at her in surprise and bewilderment. The ponies vividly remembered their confrontation with that shape-shifting reptile that nearly did them all in with its explosion, and afterwards, somehow turned itself into a statue.
"You mean that monster that turned itself into stone?" Rainbow asked to which Fluttershy nodded.
"But... how's that possible? We all saw it turn into a statue." Rarity wondered out loud.
"Unless, turning itself into a statue was part of its plan." Twilight suddenly said, putting together in her mind of what had likely occurred after they left that creature in his frozen state. "You know how phoenixes renew themselves by bursting into flames, becoming ash and then being born anew?" Her friends nodded, "A similar case probably occurred with this creature. Turning itself into a stone statue was probably just a part of its natural lifecycle, and afterwards, it emerged into this new form we're seeing right now."
Apart from Fluttershy, her friends collectively looked at her in shock and disbelief. All this time, the monster that they thought had been dealt with was not only still alive and active but had gained yet another form under their noses. And not only that, but that same monster was also the source of all their problems. As their initial shock gave way, this revelation steeled the ponies' resolve and made them all the more determined to stop this monster once and for all.
Eventually, the six ponies and the young drake could finally make out the ground below, and much to their unpleasant surprise, they saw that most of the ground below was covered by a fleshy moss-like substance that Twilight saw earlier.
"Ugh. What is that disgusting mess down there?" Rarity asked, placing a hoof on her mouth in disgust.
"I saw this stuff earlier." Twilight stated. "It must be another phenomenon from the Archetype's influence."
"Over there! I see something!" Spike cried out and directed the ponies' attention to a small, blinking blue light amidst the thick haze not far from where they were. Quickly, the heroes headed over there to see from what it was coming from — and to their relief and amazement, the flickering light was coming from Jet Jaguar's eyes, who was lying motionless on his back.
"Jet Jaguar!" The seven friends collectively cried out and quickly rushed over to the robot to see if he was still active. A fall like that would be the end for most non-flying creatures, but Jet Jaguar didn't seem like he counted as 'most'. While his metallic body was indeed dented and damaged in many areas, it did not look like it was too severe, and he was still in one piece overall. It was also a miracle that he did not get crushed underfoot by Godzilla whilst being so dangerously close to the kaiju. "Jet Jaguar, can you hear me?" Twilight cautiously asked in concern, hovering near the robot's head. To her relief, Jet Jaguar turned to face her and gave her a slow nod, while the blinking his eyes ceased. The Princess of Friendship and her friends smiled in relief, happy that their friend was still with them. "C'mon. Let's get out of here and try to end this once and for all." With that, Twilight used her magic to levitate the robot onto her platform alongside Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie, before flying back up with her friends.
As they ascended higher, they quickly realized that they were nearing Godzilla's right upper thigh and were rather close to actually touching his armoured skin. Thankfully, the reptilian abomination was still too distracted by the constant barrage of fire from the dragons to notice them. Given how small they all are compared to Godzilla anyway, it was almost impossible for the kaiju to notice them at all under these circumstances. Still, it did not make the situation any less easy; they were still in a race against time to stop reality from being undone. Thankfully, the only thing capable of stopping that from happening was still with them and in one piece. Much like what happened in Canterlot, the robot's eyes began glowing a bright white light as he prepared to repeat what he did against Salunga. However, before he could do just that, Godzilla suddenly turned his head to the right and spotted the Mane Six and Jet Jaguar hovering near his upper thigh from the corner of his eye, as if he sensed what Jet Jaguar was trying to do. The ponies and Spike gasped in fright upon seeing that the kaiju had somehow noticed them, and he did not look happy to see them. On the contrary, the Monster King looked infuriated as he narrowed his eyes at them. Lowering himself to the ground slightly for a moment, Godzilla stood up as tall as he possibly could with an all-powerful roar that would put Celestia and Luna's royal voices to shame — and at what seemed to be his very beckoning, a pillar of scarlet light surged down from the sky and through the area, pulsing with a terrifying glow as if to signal the catastrophe Twilight and her friends had been dreading was nearly upon them.
*SKREOOOOOOOONNGK!*
This was followed by a shockwave that surged outwards from Godzilla with overwhelming power and ferocity like a mighty gust of wind. Ember screamed as she and the rest of her fellow dragons were blown away from the kaiju by the shockwave he produced, sending them all flying outwards into the surrounding redness. The Mane Six were equally as affected by the sudden and extreme burst of energy, with Twilight quickly turning her platform construct into a spherical shield to protect her three friends inside as all of them were blown away. Unfortunately, she was not fast enough to encase Jet Jaguar within her barrier, as the robot was blown away only seconds before she saved the rest of her friends from meeting the same fate.
"Jet Jaguar!" She cried out in vain as she and her friends were swept away.
After a terrifying ride across the area on the torrents of energy, the Mane Six and Spike hit a solid surface on which they landed upon just as the shockwave ceased. Upon sensing that they were standing on something solid, they got up and looked around to find themselves standing atop a particularly tall hill. After confirming that they were on stable ground, Twilight dissipated her spherical shield, allowing Rarity, Pinkie and Applejack to finally touch solid ground.
"Is everypony okay?" Twilight asked.
"I'm fine." Rainbow confirmed.
"I, as well, darling." Rarity affirmed.
"I'm also okay." Fluttershy added.
"All good here!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"Same here, partner." Applejack chimed in.
"Me, too." Spike added.
"Jet Jaguar got blown away! I have to find him!" Twilight exclaimed, spreading her wings and ready to take off.
"Twilight, we have bigger issues to worry about right now!" Spike yelled out before pointing at something up ahead. Turning to where he was pointing at, the ponies gasped at the sight of Godzilla — who was likely only 200 meters away from the hill on which they were standing on — slowly turning to face them. The Monster King now had his undivided attention on the six equines whom he recognized back when he was in his weaker form. In particular, he focused on the alicorn who battled him and inadvertently helped him speed up his metamorphosis into his current form. He knew why they were here and how they attempted to stop him. It was a valiant effort on their part, he had to admit — and they came very close to doing just that. But now this little game needed to come to an end. Illuminating his dorsal plates and summoning his seven glowing energy hoops, Godzilla opened his mouth wide and aimed at the top of the hill where he had the ponies and Spike at his mercy.
Twilight and her friends looked on in horror, gazing directly through the row of energy rings and into the light inside Godzilla's wide-open mouth. They had all seen his devastating attack and knew what was about to happen. Without a single word, the seven friends huddled together and waited for the inevitable end to come. But just before Godzilla was about to let loose his Atomic Breath, he was interrupted when out of the red mist suddenly emerged Anguirus, who was now nearly the same size as the saurian. With a fearsome roar, the quadrupedal dinosaur lunged himself at Godzilla and smashed his armoured bulk into the side of saurian's body, causing the Monster King to misdirect his aim at the last second just as he fires his Atomic Breath, completely missing the Mane Six and the hill they were on. The force of the impact also sent Godzilla skidding across the ground, leaving him dazed and confused by what just happened.
The Mane Six and Spike looked in shock and disbelief at the now-gigantic Anguirus, their minds flooded with numerous different questions all at once — not least of which was how he became gigantic in the first place. The ankylosaur turned to look at them and began approaching the hill they were on. Once he came close enough, to the point where his snout was almost touching the top of their hill, the ponies and Spike became even more surprised to see Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, Pipp, and Zipp emerge from behind one of Anguirus' head horns.
"Hey, there. Quite the entrance we made, huh?" Sunny asked before she and her friends slid down Anguirus' face, walked along his snout and hopped onto the hill where Twilight and her friends were still frozen in shock, their minds struggling to process everything that they just saw.
"What. Just. Happened?" Rainbow could ask.
"Wow! What a plot twist, am I right?" Pinkie asked her friends, none of which replied.
"Well, to make a long story short: After you guys left, those strange butterflies that gave us our magic back started glowing and swarming Anguirus for some reason. Shortly after, Anguirus started growing bigger and bigger, and had to leave so he didn't destroy Ponyville as he grew." Sunny explained.
"And we hopped onto him for the ride!" Izzy finished.
"Yup. That's basically what happened in a nutshell. More or less." Zipp shrugged.
Twilight and her friends were still silent after hearing this. Their minds were now racing with even more questions than initially and made them all the more curious about those mysterious butterflies. First, restoring their magic and now they apparently managed to grow Anguirus' to the size of a small mountain. What else were they capable of, and more importantly, why were they doing this? Unfortunately, their questions would have to wait as all of them heard the roar of the furious Godzilla, who now set his sights on the quadrupedal dinosaur. Anguirus turned to face the Monster King with a hardened glare of his own, before the two giant beasts exchanged roars.
*SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNGK!*
*GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!*
Anguirus made the first move by charging directly at the bipedal kaiju, unconcerned by the fact that his opponent was quite a bit larger than him. Godzilla responded by lighting up his dorsal spines and manifesting his row of energy halos, getting ready to blast the charging quadruped. Anguirus, in turn, responds by vibrating his own spikes and peering into the future, before promptly jumping out of the way just as Godzilla fires his Atomic Breath, avoiding the devastating beam in time. Barely impeded by the attack, Anguirus quickly closes the distance between them and sinks his teeth into the armoured hide of Godzilla's right leg. The Monster King roars in pain before managing to kick the smaller kaiju off of him. But Anguirus was not finished; he quickly preforms a 360-degree turn with his body and smacks Godzilla across the head with his tail club. The saurian stumbles back a little, dazed and hurting from the surprising amount of damage the ankylosaur was managing to inflect on him. But the daze soon gives way to rage. As Anguirus makes another attempt to strike his opponent in the head, Godzilla reacts in time by quickly opening his mouth and clamping it shut on the club-tipped tail as it was coming at him, catching Anguirus' tail in his jaws mid-attack. Now it was Anguirus' turn to cry out in pain from Godzilla's teeth sinking into his tail. Still holding onto the tail of his opponent, Godzilla swings his head around, lifting Anguirus off the ground and into the air before releasing his vice-like grip from the tail, flinging the ankylosaur clear across the area.
The area shook as Anguirus crashed and tumbled across the hellish landscape when he fell, hurt but not too badly. Unfortunately, once he got up, he was greeted by the sight of Godzilla being only seconds away from firing his Atomic Breath at him. The ankylosaur tried to react properly by vibrating his spikes, but Godzilla was a quick-draw shooter and fired his Atomic Breath before his opponent had any time to react. Anguirus roared in pain and agony as he was struck by the full force and power of Godzilla's ultimate weapon. He felt excruciating and overwhelming pain, unlike anything he had ever felt before.
"ANGUIRUS!" The eleven ponies cried out in horror, helplessly watching as their friend suffered a type of agony they could only imagine.
Unbeknownst to them and the two kaiju, a large swarm of Mothras was fluttering high in the sky. Unlike the ones in Ponyville, they were not shedding wisps of their powder-like scales. Instead, the dense swarm started flying downwards to a particular location on the ground, all the while being out of sight. They were heading towards Jet Jaguar, who was once again lying on the ground, motionless and even more damaged than before. As they neared the fallen robot, each of the Mothras began glowing with a bright yellow colour, similar to fireflies. That was when they all converged on Jet Jaguar, landing on his motionless body in mass and swarming him from head to feet. At which point, the robot's eyes flickered back to life.
Meanwhile, Godzilla ceased his attack and looked at the damage he had done. To his surprise, Anguirus was still alive, but barely. The quadrupedal dinosaur had severe scorch marks all over his body with smoke rising from them. Several of his inward-facing spikes were gone, having been blasted off, and he could barely stand. The Monster King was impressed, the Manda he fought in the Crystal Empire was easily dispatched with a quick blast of his Atomic Breath, but Anguirus took a much more prolonged attack and was still clinging onto life. He had certainly earned Godzilla's respect, if nothing else. But now it was time to finish this, once and for all.
Charging up the energy within his body, Godzilla opened his mouth and prepared to fire his Atomic Breath at Anguiurs one final time to finish him off. The ankylosaur could only glare back at his opponent in defiance, as if silently daring him to hit him with his best shot. Yet, much like how Anguirus himself saved Twilight and her friends in the nick of time, now it was the former who found himself in their place — for just as the Monster King was about to end the ankylosaur with his ultimate weapon, Jet Jaguar suddenly charged in out of nowhere to deliver a hard kick to Godzilla's abdomen. The sudden attack caused the saurian to misfire his Atomic Breath into the ground, saving Anguirus in the process. Godzilla took several steps back, nearly toppling over before he managed to regain his footing and balance. Turning to see who dared to interrupt him again, Godzilla's eyes widened in shock at the sight of the very robot that was created specifically to defeat him standing before him — except now said robot was nearly as large as himself. Jet Jaguar took a fighting stance as he prepared to duel with the Monster King for the final time.
The Mane Six and Mane Five looked on in astonishment, flabbergasted to see their robotic friend not only still in one piece, but also having grown to the same size as Anguirus and Godzilla.
"J-Jet Jaguar?" Sunny gawked in disbelief.
"Wooow! Did those butterflies do that, too?" Pinkie wondered out loud.
"Probably, I guess." Zipp surmised. "Even though we didn't see it."
"This whole thing's just getting weirder and weirder by the minute." Applejack muttered.
"No kidding." Pipp agreed, looking at the whole situation in disbelief.
"I am glad that you are all safe." Jet Jaguar suddenly spoke in a high-pitched, child-like voice. Naturally, the ponies were startled and taken aback upon hearing their robot friend who had been silent all this time suddenly speaking out of the blue, even if his voice sounded rather odd for him.
"Jet Jaguar, you can talk now!?" Sunny practically screamed.
"What in the world is going on here?!" Zipp demanded.
"Apart from the things we already know." Izzy clarified.
In that moment, Godzilla charged at Jet Jaguar, his jaws wide open. The robot quickly countered with an elbow strike to the saurian's abdomen, followed by a right hook punch to the beast's head. "My name is Jet Jaguar, and I was created by you, Sunny Starscout." He explained whilst battling Godzilla.
"What...?" Was all the apricot pony could blurt out, her friends around her equally as surprised and confused to hear this, but they continued to listen.
"Moon Dancer was correct. I and the Orthogonal Diagonalizer were created by you in the far distant future in order to stop the Archetype. I was sent to this particular time because this is where your future self knew the Singular Point would appear. Or should I call him, Godzilla." The robot explained before the theropod-like monster lunged forward and clamped his powerful jaws on Jet Jaguar's right arm in an attempt to tear it off.
"Godzilla?" Twilight questioned. "That's what this monster's called?"
"And what's this 'Orthogal Digonizer' thing?" Rainbow asked.
"That must be the device inside Jet Jaguar that turned the Archetype into crystals." Zipp said, putting two and two together.
"That is correct, Zipp Storm. Godzilla is the Singular Point from which the Archetype originated from." Jet Jaguar said as he pulled his arm free from Godzilla's jaws. "My voice box was damaged when I was transported here. That is why I could not speak to you before. But once I became this, my voice box was restored." As he said this, he delivered a strong uppercut to Godzilla's lower jaw before proceeding to bash the kaiju's head repeatedly with his other arm.
The ponies were at a loss for words at this shocking revelation, especially Sunny Starscout. To hear that her future self was (or rather, will be) the creator of such a being, and more importantly, such a friend, it made her smile both on the inside and outside.
Growing angrier by the second from the repeated hits, Godzilla swings his massive tail and hits the side of Jet Jaguar's torso, sending the robot tumbling to the ground. As Jet Jaguar tries to stand up, Godzilla begins charging his Atomic Breath and aims for the robot's head. Luckily, Jet Jaguar reacts in time by ducking down and rolling over as Godzilla fires his main weapon, successfully dodging the destructive beam that almost took his head off. As soon as the Atomic Breath dissipated, Jet Jaguar quickly got up and rushed over to the Monster King, grabbing him by the jaws with his clawed hands.
"Once Godzilla is defeated and the Archetype is gone, the timeline will reset." Jet Jaguar explained as he grappled with said kaiju. "You will all return to your respective times and places. The Archetype will never manifest in this universe again, and all of the events that had happened because of it, including Godzilla himself, will be undone and erased."
"But... that means that we also won't remember anything." Sunny said, realizing what their robotic friend was saying as she felt a pit forming in her stomach. "Our time with Princess Twilight and the Guardians of Harmony will be... gone."
"That is correct, Sunny Starscout."
"I'm sorry, Sunny. But it has to be this way." Twilight spoke softly, placing a comforting hoof on the apricot pony's shoulder.
"... I know." Sunny took a deep breath and sighed. "To tell you the truth, I kind of knew this was going to happen. If there was any chance for me and my friends to return home, I knew that you or some pony else would have to erase our memories of our time here, as well as your own, in order to prevent history from altering too much. I guess victory really does have its prices." She said with a weak smile.
This caused Twilight to smile back at her, glad that her friend understood the responsibility and seriousness of time-traveling.
"Thank you, Sunny, Twilight, and everypony else for saving me, and helping me complete my purpose. And with that, I say to you all, good-bye." With his final words spoken, Jet Jaguar activated the Orthogonal Diagonalizer within him. His eyes began glowing with the same white light as before. Godzilla, realizing what is about to happen, illuminated his dorsal plates with the neon-blue light and summoned his row of energy rings in front of his mouth for the final time, aiming at the center of the robot's torso. The energy rings rapidly expanded in size and width as the deadly beam passed through them to strike Jet Jaguar squarely in the chest. Jet Jaguar was pushed back several feet before the blue beam pierced through his chest and bursted out from his back, impaling the robot. But it was too late, as a much brighter light of the same white color as Jet Jaguar's eyes erupted from his chest area, shining brighter than the sun or any other star, and completely dispelling the haze of Archetype around them as it rapidly began growing outwards.
*SKREOOOOOOOONNGK!*
Godzilla roared one final time before both he and Jet Jaguar were enveloped by the ever-growing dome of light that now filled the entire area, where they disappeared. Continuing to expand outwards to its surroundings, the light rapidly consumed everything around it as it grew, including the nearby Anguirus, who calmly accepted his fate.
The ponies, seeing that their time was almost over as the intense light was now coming towards them, turned to one another to say their own goodbyes.
"Heh. I guess this is it." Zipp smiled at Rainbow Dash. "We had some good times together."
"Yeah. We sure did." Rainbow smiled back. "I hope that somehow, someway, we'll meet again."
"Yeah. Me, too."
"Sorry, Pinkie. I wish I could've made you and your friends bracelets like we agreed." Izzy apologized.
"Eh. It's no biggy." Pinkie shrugged. "What's important is that we had fun together and made some new friends. And also, fighting monsters together!"
"Yup. That was some craaaaazy~ stuff we did back there!" The two ponies laughed before they hugged one another. "I'm gonna miss you, Pinkie."
"Yeah. Me too, Izzy." The pink pony replied, her eyes closed.
"Hey, if you ever find an egg or a baby dragon somewhere, do me a favour and raise them for me." Spike said to Hitch.
"Heh. Will do, little guy." Hitch smiled at the little dragon before turning to Applejack and Fluttershy. "You take care, too."
"We will. Thank you, Hitch." The yellow pegasus smiled.
"Heh. Same for you, partner." The farm pony said, tipping her hat to the sheriff.
"Ah, I wish I could take a picture to immortalize this moment." Pipp sighed. "Although, given that everything will go back to normal, I suppose it would've been a futile endeavour anyway."
"Oh, don't stress yourself too much, darling." Rarity assured her, placing a hoof on her shoulder. "You don't need a picture to immortalize this moment. My friends have thought me that simply living the experience is enough."
"Yeah. You're right, Rarity." Pipp smiled at her. "If we ever meet again somehow, we're definitely going to Zephyr Heights for some hard-earned shopping."
"I'd like that." Rarity smiled.
"I know this is for the best, but I wish we could've had some time together. Just a little bit longer." Sunny sighs and hangs her head in disappointment.
"Maybe we will someday." Twilight placed her hoof under Sunny's chin and gently lifted her head up to look her in the eyes. "Even if we are from different times and won't remember anything after, I want you to know this: the Magic of Friendship never forgets. This feeling you're having right now? It will never go away. Even if our memories are gone, the heart never truly forgets the experience and the relationships."
These words, so simple, yet so powerful, filled Sunny's heart with hope as she perked up and smiled at the princess. "Yeah. I guess you're right." With that, Sunny Starscout and Twilight Sparkle embraced each other in a tight hug, unconcerned by the intensely overwhelming light that was closing in on them.
"Good-bye, Twilight. May we meet again someday." Sunny said, her eyes closed.
"I'm sure we will, Sunny. Farewell." Twilight replied.
And with that, the eleven ponies and the little dragon were all enveloped by the light, their silhouettes visible for only a moment before everything went white.
Twilight blinked her eyes open to find herself in a strange dimension — a white and empty void that seemed to stretch on for eternity, where she was now floating aimlessly like a small bottle in the endless ocean. It almost felt like a dream, floating in this seemingly endless void, but her instinct was telling her that this was indeed reality — or at least, a type of reality.
That was when she heard a deep masculine voice suddenly speak to her.
"Greetings, Twilight Sparkle."
"W-Who said that?!" Twilight immediately became alert and tried to ignite her magic in self-defence, only to find herself incapable of doing so.
"Calm yourself, princess. I mean you no harm" The voice replied rather softly. "In fact, you could say that I am here to congratulate you."
"C-Congratulate me?" The pony blurted out, wondering what the mysterious voice was talking about.
"Yes. You have proven to me that your world, your universe, is worth sparing."
Upon hearing that, Twilight's eyes widened in shock, and she asked, "What do you mean by that?"
"I... am the entity responsible for creating the Archetype and unleashing it in your world. To test and see if your world is worthy."
Now the princess was in a complete loss for words, shock and disbelief gripping her body as her mind processed what she just heard. "...What?"
"Godzilla, Anguirus, the Rodans, the sea serpents, even the butterflies that helped you, are all extensions of myself. You see, Princess of Friendship, I exist across all realities, viewing each and every time, dimension and world at the same time. I manifest myself as those creatures into worlds like yours to test them. And I destroy the universes that I find undesirable."
At this point, Twilight didn't know how much her mind could handle this. This entity was dropping bombshell after bombshell on her right now. This entity, whatever it was, was responsible for all the trouble she and her friends went through? The damage that was done, the lives that were lost. And for what? To see if they are worth sparing? Furthermore, the entity had done the same to other worlds, and even destroyed those he did not like? What gave him the right to do that? What gave him the right to do any of this?
"I can hear your thoughts, you know."
Twilight was momentarily startled by this abrupt revelation, but she was quick to express her displeasure and frustration on the outside as she yelled out, "Good! I'm glad you can read my mind! What gives you the right to destroy worlds you don't like?! To cause so much damage and suffering? Do you know what my friends and I went through because of you? What we had to fight through?!"
"Of course. And I aided you in the form of Anguirus and the butterflies. Tell me, would you prefer to live in a world ruled by a tyrant like Tirek? Or one plagued by madness from Discord before he was reformed?"
Upon hearing those names, the princess' anger momentarily gave way to confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
"Those alternate timelines that you and Spike travelled to during Starlight Glimmer's pursuit for revenge by altering the past. They did not disappear once you and Starlight resolved your issues. They continued to exist as separate timelines that branched off from your main one. That is why I destroyed each and every one of them."
The Princess of Friendship once again found herself gripped by shock as her face fell, barely able to believe what she had just heard. To think that those horrible alternate realities actually continued to exist even after they fixed the past frightened her quite a bit, if she was honest with herself. Yet, she still could not overlook the fact that many alternate versions of their selves had been extinguished by this entity. That was still not right.
"What I did to those worlds was a mercy, Twilight. Your alternate selves were suffering immensely under the rule of those villains, with no hope of things getting better. I do not expect you to understand or agree with me, for my way of thinking is beyond your comprehension. But know that my existence is a necessity. I maintain balance by destroying worlds that were birthed by mistake and those that should not have existed in the first place."
Twilight did not reply but instead remained silent. True, horrible worlds such as those being removed (especially if they were not meant to exist) and only keeping worlds like hers around sounded nice, but there was still a great ethical dilemma regarding such a practice. The entity was correct, she could not find herself agreeing with him. Yet despite that, his words were compelling and held water. Either way, there was really nothing she could do to stop him or convince him otherwise.
"What are you, exactly?" Twilight couldn't help but wonder.
"I am a being beyond your current understanding, Twilight. The reason I had not shown myself to you is because by true form is incomprehensible to your mind. Even Discord would have a hard time keeping his mind together if he saw me."
The answer frightened and fascinated her at the same time.
"I will return you to your world now."
"I take it that I won't remember any of this, either?" She asked.
"Correct."
"One more question: what happened to Anguirus and Jet Jaguar after Godzilla was defeated?"
"As I said, Anguirus was an extension of my being, and has become one with me once more. That said, he will reappear in another world once I test that world as I did yours. And, if it makes you feel any better, he will retain the memories he had spent with you and your friends. As for Jet Jaguar, I'm afraid that he is gone. However, there are alternate versions of himself out there in the multiverse."
Twilight contemplated his words. It was saddening that she and her friends will never see them again or remember them, but still felt some relief and content at knowing that they were still somewhere out there in some shape or form — especially as Anguirus will continue to remember them, in whichever world he arrives next. "I see. Thank you for your honesty."
"Farewell, Princess of Friendship."
With those parting words, Twilight felt her consciousness suddenly slipping away before her eyes closed shut and everything went black. Her memories of this experience and the conversation she had were already dissolved into nothingness. Only those of the mysterious entity will remain for eternity.
Equestria; Present time
"Twilight. Pst. Hey, Twilight." Spike gently poked at the alicorn's face with his claw.
The princess groaned and rolled over, covering her head with her blanket. "Five more minutes." She said, half-asleep.
"Twilight, wake up! You're supposed to rise the sun!"
In an instant, the alicorn suddenly shot upwards, inadvertently knocking the little dragon over. Without missing a beat, she leapt from her bed and raced towards the balcony. Once there, she quickly activated her magic and watched as the moon slowly descended and disappeared into the horizon, allowing for the sun to take its place and turn night into day.
"Whew. Thanks for that, Spike." The princess breathed a sigh of relief.
Spike, still a little dazed from getting knocked over, got up on his feet. "Okay, we definitely need to do something about you being late to rise the sun all the time." After dusting himself off, Spike pulled out the incredibly long checklist. "Anyway, you're first royal duty for today." As he was about to start, Spike suddenly stopped upon realized something. "By the way, Twilight. You haven't forgotten about today, right?"
"Um... What day is today, again?" Asked Twilight in genuine curiosity. Having to complete royal duties all day everyday, it was inevitable that she would forget at least some minor things for the day.
"Oh, not much. Just your first royal decree as ruler of Equestria." Spike deadpanned.
In that instant, the realization clicked in Twilight's mind, and she nearly jumped up in shock and started hyperventilating. "Oh, my gosh! I forgot that the Council of Friendship is today!"
"Deep breaths, Twilight. Deep breaths." Spike gently patted her back.
Heeding her adopted brother's advice, Twilight managed to calm herself. "Whew. Thanks, Spike. I almost started 'Twilight-ing' again."
"I can't believe you're using that verb now." Spike chuckled.
"Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, as the saying goes." She chuckled back. After sharing a laugh together, Twilight suddenly felt a strange feeling. Normally, she would dismiss it as just stress from a hard day's work or from dreaming something last night. But this particular feeling felt very surreal, almost as if she just went through an unimaginable disaster and met some ponies she couldn't remember the names or faces of. "Say, Spike. Do you sometimes get strange feelings? Like you did something significant but don't remember doing it?" She asked off the top of her head.
"You know, now that you mention it. I did feel something weird when I woke up today." Spike said, placing a claw under his chin as he contemplated. "Kind of like I did big significant. But I'm sure it's just from stress. I do have to protect ponies from their nightmares, you know."
"Yeah. That's probably it." Twilight agreed. Still, she couldn't help but find it a little odd that he also was having a similar feeling.
Putting those uncomfortable thoughts aside, the princess went into the bathroom to brush her teeth, then take her daily shower, before brushing her mane and tail. As always, she had to make herself look presentable for today's list of royal duties. She will have to work extra fast and extra hard today in order to finish all her duties in time before she and her friends meet up for their annual Council of Friendship this moon. And that alone made everything else worth it.
Equestria; 4,000 Years in the future
Sunny Starscout stood atop a grassy hill with a bright smile on her face as she looked around the thoroughfare of Maretime Bay. Her greatest dream in life was now an everyday reality, and she wouldn't have it any other way. "If only you were here to see this, Dad." She sighed softly, thinking back to her father and his passing. He would have been so proud of her and her friends' accomplishment. He would have gotten along so well with Queen Haven and Alphabittle. Still, she knew it wasn't healthy for her psyche to dwell on the past for too long.
Apart from that, there was something else that started bugging her today. Upon waking up this morning, Sunny felt a very odd feeling. She didn't know why this was, but it felt like a sense of Déjà vu. Regardless, she decided to ignore it for now as she headed to the town to meet up with her friends.
.
"What is up, everypony? This is Pipp Petals streaming live from Maretime Bay in another amazing day here with my friends!" The pink pegasus happily said to her followers via her mobile phone that she held in her hoof, facing the camera to herself. "Today, we are going to the movie theatre, to watch a movie called 50 Shades of Purple! This is the newest and latest movie to be released since us, the unicorns, and Earth ponies became friends! So, it's practically bound to be a box office hit!"
"Hi, Pipp!" Izzy suddenly popped up from behind the pegasus, startling Pipp in the process.
"Ah!" The Pegasi princess yelped and jolted in surprise. "Izzy, don't sneak up on me like that!" She scolded her friend before recomposing herself and turning back to the camera on her phone. "Sorry about that. My friend here, Izzy, is just so excited for the movie. Izzy, say 'hi' to our viewers!"
"Hi, everypony!" The lilac unicorn happily waved at the camera.
A chain of smiley faces, hearts, and other friendly emojis flooded the bottom-right corner of the phone's screen.
"Hey, guys!" Pipp and Izzy turned to see Hitch and Zipp approaching them, accompanied by two seagulls and a crab that have been following Hitch around as usual.
"Where have you two been? We're gonna be late for the movie!" Pipp scolded the two.
"Sorry about that, Pipp. Sheriff over here just got some... company." Zipp smiled playfully, gesturing to the little critters near Hitch.
"Frankly, I'm surprised my cutie mark isn't that of butterflies or something." The sheriff of Maretime Bay rolled his eyes. As he said that, a strange feeling suddenly came over him, as if he had met a pony with just that sort of cutie mark somewhere before. He would've dismissed this as a random sense of Déjà vu, but it felt somewhat real. As if it actually happened.
"Maybe your ancestor was an expert on animals." Izzy inquired. "That's what my parents used to tell me."
"It's a possibility." Hitch shrugged, brushing off this strange feeling for now.
"Hey, guys!" The unmistakable voice of Sunny Starscout caught their attention, prompting the four ponies to look ahead and spot said Earth pony galloping towards them in a hurry. "Sorry I'm late. I was just thinking about... something." She delayed the last part of her sentence as she stopped in front of them. While Izzy, Pipp, and Zipp were a little confused, Hitch looked at her sympathetically.
"You were thinking about your father, weren't you?" He gently asked, walking up to her.
"Yeah..." Sunny looked down sadly. "I just wish he was here so he could see what we did. He would have been so proud."
"Yeah. He definitely would have. I'm sorry for not believing in those ancient tales that your father researched." Hitch gently wrapped his hoof around Sunny's neck before giving her a reassuring smile. "From now on, I'll keep an open mind for every kind of possibility and theory out there, no matter how absurd it sounds." He declared proudly.
"It's alright, Hitch. No need to take it that far." Sunny chuckled lightly. "So, are we gonna go watch the movie or what?"
And with that, the five friends went into the movie theatre together. In time, they will inform each other of the mysterious feeling each of them was secretly experiencing right now and discuss the possibility behind it. Even though their minds have no knowledge of the events that have been erased, their hearts will never forget the adventure they had with their predecessors and the relationships they formed with them.
Author's Note
I hope you all enjoyed this story!
By the way, I didn't make this up for the story. The novelization of Godzilla Singular Point explains that Godzilla and the other kaiju are the physical extensions of an omnipresent extradimensional entity (presumably Godzilla Ultima's true form) that sees all dimensions, timelines and universes simultaneously. It has the desire to destroy universes it dislikes by manifesting as Godzilla and other kaiju, but also wishes to idle and observe universes it likes. It also assisted humanity in killing the first Godzilla that appeared in the fishing village in 1954 (the one the skeleton in the basement belongs to) by augmenting their weapons and damaging itself through unknown means.
