1) PROLOGUE: OUT OF THE BLUE

An orange tint began to brighten the cloudy early morning sky. Beneath it, a tall, looming figure of a factory rose over the landscape. A figure that was so vast and dense that it made any smaller building seem quaint and insignificant…

...until an explosion went off near one of the towers. Clouds of red and orange flames puffed into existence as alarms went off. Spotlights snapped awake and shined their light on the ground for any sign of an intruder.

A blue streak zoomed into view, pursued by several egg-shaped drones. Rounding a large bend, the sapphire streak sped up the side of a search tower. Missiles flew from their sockets, exploding against the structure and obliterating the spotlight. Evading them, the streak bounced off and raced away as it touched the ground. The drones flew after it, now unleashing hails of bullets.

Their shots failed to hit their mark, the streak darting left and right to avoid them. It made a sharp right, and only three drones gave chase. The rest couldn’t turn quick enough, smashing against a wall and exploding into pieces.

The blur bounded off storage crates that erupted into flame when missiles hit them. Underneath the sky blue color of the blur, a dark-blue flash of light shone underneath.

“Gotta get outta here!”

Mechanical warriors barred the streak’s way, weapons aimed and charging up. More drones sped onto the scene, ready to engage. The robots’ guns burst into a storm of bullets, the projectiles screaming right for the streak.

A gold ring flew from the streak, shining in the early morning sun. The robots barely noticed it, believing the circular decoration to be useless…

They were proven wrong as the ring suddenly grew in size, becoming a portal to parts unknown. The blue streak raced through the ring, the drones set to give chase.

The ring suddenly closed off, sending the drones crashing into the bipedal robots. Several of them crashed to the ground with metallic smashes, yet two remained standing.

“EG-NS2017 to Control,” one of the robots whirred. “Target has escaped perimeter. Repeat: target has fled using unknown rift in space.”

In the main control tower, a response came as a figure pressed down on a button. “This is unfortunate. Whoever… or whatever that was managed to escape with the gem. Contact the doctor and Agent Stone in the city. Inform him of this setback. He and his agents will be on the lookout for him whenever he appears.”

“Affirmative, Agent Snively.”

The transmission cut and the man stared out at where the ring portal closed. “Now, you speedy little thing… where did you go?”

Miles away from the facility, on a single stretch of early morning sun-lit road, only a few cars drove along. Something flashed in the air just above the road, and a golden circle opened.

A blue blur shot out from the rift, speeding down the road and racing past a sign as the ring closed behind him. The dust kicked up by the blur settled, revealing the words on the sign while the streak sped towards towering buildings.

WELCOME TO CANTERLOT CITY

(The My Little Pony: Equestria Girls logo spins into view, the purple colors slowly turning blue and sparkling with lightning. A blue streak races underneath it, revealing the words “True Blue”. A ring portal flashes into existence, the logo being sucked in.)
