My Little Pony: The Draconic Sister - Reboot
Chapter 46 - O&O (Rarity Takes Manehatten Background)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhile the Mane Six had all went over to Manehatten, the CMC and WFG were having a stay-over with Button Mash. The two dragons were there too. It had been Button Mash's mother who had asked Smolder why this was going on. To which the orange dragoness responded by saying it was for a fashion exposition.
"...I see." Button Mash's mother said. "I guess in hindsight, I should've expected that." She added.
"Here's hoping things go well over there. My older sister can be quite generous with things." Smolder said.
"Heh. That defiantly sounds like Rarity alright." Sweetie Belle said.
"Still don't have a Pony 64 so more of us can play at once though." Button Mash said. "One won't be out for at least another week." He added.
"Well, there may be something you could all play. Back when I was your ages, we had to do with various tabletop games." Button Mash's mother said as she digged through a nearby closet. "Ah. Here it is." She said and brought out a cardboard box.
"Hey, is that an older version of Ogres and Oubliettes?" Spike asked.
"...Wait you know what that is?" Button Mash asked.
"Yeah. I'll be right back." Spike and rushed off.
"...He's got a copy of the game at home I bet." Smolder said.
Spike was back not a second later, holding a much newer looking box of the same one Button Mash's mother had. "Here it is. Was right where I left it too." Spike said.
"Spike, you play Ogres and Oubliettes?" Button Mash's mother asked.
"Yep. Though mostly just with Big Mac every now and again. This box has some of the latest rules." Spike said. "Of course, it's not the most modern edition. Twilight is still working on figuring out how we can get the newer rulesets without having to spend bits on the newer editions." He added.
"Could just ask Princess Celestia. Sure she'd find a workaround." Scootaloo mentioned.
"Pretty sure Twilight wants to prove she can do the Princess thing without help. She's already fed up with just having to show up and not really having any real duties to perform." Spike said.
"Fair enough." Scootaloo said.
"So what kind of game is this 'Ogres and Oubliettes' thing anyways? I know my mom called it a tabletop game, but it sounds a lot more complex than something like Ponopoly." Button Mash said, noticing one of the other games in the closet.
"Well it's a bit of a role playing tabletop game. I can help everyone get started with creating their own characters." Spike said.
"I got a weird feeling about things suddenly..." White Flame said.
After Spiked helped the others create their characters, the game had really begun, with Spike taking over the DM role for the time being while Button Mash's mom did join in the fun for the players.
"Hmm..." Scootaloo said.
"Problem?" Spike said.
"Well it's just...I want to use my speed stat to check for traps, but after Rumble got a crit fail for a similar check earlier..." Scootaloo said.
"It was ONE time. Since then, I haven't really been getting that unlucky. Besides, my character's speed stat is nowhere near as high as yours. Even with a one, you'd only get a minor fail." Rumble said.
"Rumble's right. Why did you buff your character with so much speed anyways?" Button Mash's mom asked.
"It's because she takes after Rainbow Dash so much. Isn't that right, Scootaloo?" Smolder guessed but smirked knowing she was right.
"Yeah, you could say my mom really rubs off on me." Scootaloo said. "Why else do you think I put the fact that my character was adopted by a Pegasus mare after my character's parents disowned her into my character's back story?" She asked.
"Isn't saying your biological parents disowned you a little harsh though?" Button Mash asked. "Though then again, with how long it's been..." He trailed off.
"No way would any court say your biological parents should retain custody of you with how long it's been. And that's assuming they're even still alive." Rumble said.
"Ouch. Dark much Rumble?" White Flame asked.
"Just being realistic. Rainbow Dash has been much more of a mother to Scootaloo then Scootaloo's actual mother anyways." Rumble said.
"...Thanks Rumble. I needed that. Okay then, here goes nothing for the speed checking for traps by flying." Scootaloo said and rolled. She managed to roll a perfect 20.
"WHOA! Talk about luck of the draw. And ah thought White Flame's earlier perfect 20 was lucky." Apple Bloom said.
"...I don't think luck had anything to do with Scootaloo's roll." White Flame said.
"...Ah don't follow." Apple Bloom said.
"I'll tell you later." White Flame said.
"Regardless, by flying over the area, Fast Pass was able to see that there were exactly twenty-five traps scattered about the room." Spike DM'd. "In the process, he also managed to pass through the room in it's entirety." He added.
"Everyone be careful." Scootaloo RP'd. "There's twenty-five traps scattered about the room. I suggest that you make the order you go in count." She added.
Soon it was nightfall and every pony had returned home. Rainbow Dash had even picked up Scootaloo. "So Scoots, did you have fun today?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Yes mom. I did." Scootaloo said. She had a picture with her. This one of a moment when during that session, Rumble had kissed Scootaloo as thanks for using her character's speed to save his from a deadly trap. "...I really did." Scootaloo added, sneaking a peek at the picture.
Author's Note
When I noticed that the next episode up on the docket was "Rarity Takes Manehatten" I had an idea I wanted to try out for it and I hope the idea I presented was alright as I may or may not do this same thing later. And as you read, it was Ogres and Oubliettes; the game that Discord will later turn into reality during "Dungeons and Discord".
