Chapter 71: Relic of the Past

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Eons Ago at a courthouse in an unknown location...

There was a trail undergoing at a courtroom, but already the gallery was shouting.

"Guilty!" they cried. "Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!" it just continued, as if some kind of chant.

"Please! There must be silence in the courtroom!" A baliaf said.

"Why are we even having this trial to begin with?" One member of the gallery asked.

"Yeah, why not just hand down the guilty verdict and be done with it already?" A second member of the gallery responded.

"Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!" The Gallery erupted again. "Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!" They continued.

"Silence!"

A load booming voice as the court's most feared judge "Un M. Portant", a judge known for having never given out a "Not Guilty Verdict" took the Judge's bench. He was also the cruelest judge ever conceived.

"This place is a place of sacredness. Never forget that. And what is more sacred then silence?" Judge Portant asked.

"Now then, all rise for the trail of Garrison Moris..." The Baliaf announced as a human was brought into the courtroom. "His charges include both theft...and terrorism..." He said.

Present day...

White Flame was having a sleepover at Apple Bloom's place, with said filly currently looking at the tossing colt who was speaking in his sleep.

"I shall now hand down my verdict, even if it is unprecedented..." White Flame said, mimicking the voice of Judge Portance. "I find the defendant..."

"WHITE FLAME, WAKE UP!" Apple Bloom yelled out. That actually made him jump, and wake up.

"Ugh...what? How long did I over sleep?" White Flame asked.

"About three hours. Even Granny Smith was starting to get concerned." Applejack said.

"...Oh..." White Flame said.

"Were you...having some sort of nightmare?" Apple Bloom asked. "Because it almost sounded like it, from how you were talking in your sleep in all those voices..."

"...I guess you could consider it a nightmare, if by nightmare you mean the trail that lead to the domino effect of everything." White Flame said.

"...So Garrison Moris is your human name then?" Apple Bloom asked.

"That name...it means so little to me now. I guess I experienced the day that started me on that path of becoming Zanth as a nightmare." White Flame said.

"Wait a second, the verdict...your judge voice was saying it was unprecedented." Applejack said.

"Because it was. My verdict was the first and only 'not guilty' verdict that Judge Un M. Portant had ever given out." White Flame said.

"Oh. So I guess everyone after you he only ever gave guilty verdicts after you then, huh?" Apple Bloom asked.

"You say that with the assumption that there was a trail after mine." White Flame said.

"...You mean...one of the first things you did when you turned into Zanth..." Applejack said.

"That's right. And I'm not afraid to admit it." White Flame said. "...One of the first things I did, was wreck that courthouse, leaving only the courtroom where my trail took place in tact, and during the destruction, Judge Un M. Portant was killed by falling debris."

"That's...gotta hurt..." Apple Bloom said.

Meanwhile, the last of the ponies who were living in the Parish District were relocated as a group of experts were now combing the district for more of the strange relics that seem to exist eons before any known species appeared on Equus.

"Something still isn't adding up. How can any of these relics exist before any species; pony or otherwise; appeared on our planet?" Blueblood asked.

"It most certainly does not make any sense. It's beyond both my understanding, and my sister's." Celestia said.

"What I want to know, is why prolonged exposure to this area of Canterlot drives ponies to be so aggressive." A unicorn stallion known as Chancellor Neighsay said.

"Tells of how aggressive ponies from this district tend to be have reached even my ears, Chancellor. It's why the fact that Flash Sentry coming from here managed to not only survive, but defy the odds. Sure, he's still aggressive, but he's managed to channel that aggressive behavior and weaponize it." Prince Blueblood said. "But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that trying to make another pony be able to do what Flash Sentry does is not wise; the mortality rate in this part of Canterlot is abnormally high."

Chancellor Neighsay said nothing to that, but made a mental note to himself. Perhaps he should reconsider his pony-only education policy. After all, if ponies can be driven to become psychotic killers just from growing up in a specific area of Canterlot, then ponies are not safe from each other. It'll make it that much harder to trust your neighbors if words spread of other suvivors from this district. In Neighsay's mind, this was a case of "ignorance being bliss" and that other creatures aren't so dangerous compared to a specific area that drives ponies mad.

"Princess, we found something huge!" An archologist Unicorn said. He presented a picture frame, one whose picture has been completely lost to time. Except for one thing.

"...What kind of judge has the name 'Un M. Portant'?" Blueblood asked.

Author's Note

Yep. This season is going to really focus on the big interconnective tissue to set up season 7 & the twist that'll come for the first MLP:FiM Movie that was simply called "My Little Pony: The Movie".

But if this chapter doesn't essentially spell out what exactly is up with the Parish District, then I don't know what could. Seriously, if you can't figure it out what the Parish District used to be from all the clues up until now, then I really can't help you...
