Chapter 70: Return of the Wild

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It was a seemingly normal day in ponyville while Princess Twilight and her friends were readying themselves to go to the Crystal Empire. In one part of Ponyville, a lone unicorn stallion named Fair Price was putting a "for sale" sign up on a house.

"Can't believe the stallion who lived here would move away. He was actually one of the nicest ponies I've ever had the pleasure of working with." Fair Price said. He suddenly had a shadow cast over him, and turning around, he spotted none other then The Wildman.

"I'm only going to ask you this once..." The Wildman said. "Where did the stallion who lived here go?"

"I-I don't know! I was only given instructions to sale the house and keep the money I'd make off reselling it." Fair Price said before levitating some documents. "Here, read these if you don't believe me."

The Wildman said, before he quickly noticed the image of a snowflake on the paperwork. "Seems a clue has been left behind. You are free to go." The Wildman said before he returned the paperwork and left.

"...That...was too close." Fair Price said.

As The Wildman caught a ride on a different train then the main six, there was a strange credit roll.

My Little Pony: The Draconic Sister

The train Wildman was on just so happened to be the same one that Twilight's parents were on. And he was caught almost immediately. "You again?" Shining Armor asked.

"If you know what's good for you, you'll stay out of my way. I must find Thorax." The Wildman said. "He is the only rightful ruler of the changeling hive that Chrysalis commands. And I won't stop until he is properly placed in charge of said hive." He added.

"Wait, your saying there are other changeling hives out there?" Twilight asked. "If that's the case, then why haven't they shown up?"

"Because they aren't breaking the rules of the Changeling Council. And one of those is to never impersonate any ponies that legally exist." The Wildman said. "Most of them just take up jobs where they can be around ponies and other creatures so they can feed off their love without going too far with it. That's how changelings operate after all. Or at least, that's how they are supposed to operate."

"So, Queen Chrysalis's hive broke the rules." Starlight said.

"I was able to convince the Changeling Council that Chrysalis is a single rogue changeling, and that the other changelings of that hive should not be held accountable since they mistakenly believe Chrysalis to be their queen. Which isn't the case at all. The true ruler who should sit on that throne is Thorax." The Wildman said. "I've followed Thorax's trail here, to the Crystal Empire. I must make sure he is safe. I have to make sure he is safe, for if he dies, then all hope for Thorax's hive is lost, and the high coincil will cull the entire hive. And I can't allow that to happen, otherwise I'd be letting a mother's dying wish go unfulfilled."

Pinkie Pie's eyes went wide. "...A dying wish...that's even more sacred than a Pinkie Promise. It's something you have to fulfill, no matter what." The usually peppy mare was serious.

"How do you know about that wish?" Twilight questioned.

"Because I was there when Chrysalis's parents killed the parents of Thorax and his brother. Those nimphs had their memories erased, and were forced to be reborn. Thankfully, I was able to kill Chrysalis's parents before they could modify Thorax's mind. And now, I must put Thorax on the throne to ensure the safety of his hive. So don't you dare try and stop me." The Wildman said.

"Wait, let us help you." Twilight said.

"Twilight?" Shining Armor was confused.

"If what your saying is true, then...then everything you've tried to do is for the sake of that hive. So let us help you find Thorax and give Chrysalis the boot from that hive." Twilight said.

"Twilight, are you sure about this?" Shining Armor asked.

"...I don't know why, but I believe Wildson Mandoli on his words. It doesn't really feel like a lie." Twilight said.

"...Well, now that she mentions it, he ain't lying. Ah have an easy time telling when some pony lies, and Wildman ain't lying." Applejack said.

"...So Chrysalis really isn't the true ruler of that hive..." Shining Armor said.

"We'll do our best to keep Thorax safe once we find him. You have our word. At least until a plan to get rid of Chrysalis from her throne is come up with." Cadence said.

"I'll handle Chrysalis. You focus on keeping Thorax safe." Wildman said.

Spike had ended up being the one who found Thorax, and thanks to his demenor, he was so easily accepted by the Crystal Ponies. Which put Wildman's mind at ease.

"Wildman, where do you think your going? I heard what you did to Johnson." Starlight said.

"It's his own fault. I warned him to not push me. So he fell victim to the beast within." Wildman said.

"...Not sure what you mean by that. But I don't fully believe you." Starlight said.

"Well, he ain't lying again, but...honestly, ah can't even think of what beast Wildson's talkin' about." Applejack said.

"Stay out of my way, and you won't need to know." Wildman said.

"Fine, but not before this." Starlight said before hitting Wildman with a blast of magic which scarred his skin. "Whoops. Put too much power behind it. That was meant to be a simple tracking spell."

"Your going to regret that later...right now, I have other business to attend to. Namely, finding out where Chrysalis is hiding the new cave." Wildman said before he left.

Author's Note

Fair Price is a classic example of a "one shot" character; a character whose only here for the one thing and the one thing only.
