Cole dedicated his life to protecting people after it was turned upside down by a delivery. The Ray Sphere annihilated half of Empire City, started an incurable, fatal, plague, and granted him electric-based powers. After saving Empire city from his own future self, he was utterly unprepared for The Beast. He was defeated and forced to run, traveling to New Marais in the south to regain his depleted powers and challenge The Beast a second time. With the help of Kuo and Nix, two conduits who allied with him against The Beast, and Zeke, his long-time, nearly infallible friend, he defeated The Beast with the Ray Field Inhibitor, and eliminated the plague, but with a huge cost : his life, his allies' lives, and the life of every conduit in existence. Of his friends, only Zeke survived, but the world was left a better place.
