Author's Note

Unlike the past two episodes, this two parter was meant to be a mid-season finale of sorts. I'm still going to take a break after posting this "mid-season finale" essentially of a week off from this story but rest assured that Season 3 in its entirety is not yet over.

That said, these next two chapters contain pure black text. If you can't see this text on your device while in dark mode, it is recommended that you turn dark mode off for these next two chapters.

Season 3: Episode 9 - Wild Emotions Part 1

A figure made entirely of black smoke was looking at Ponyville through a crystal ball of sorts.

"The forces of Darkness are growing stronger by the day. And yet, the orange one has yet to unlock her full destiny. It seems that I must push her into unlocking it, or she and her friends will be unprepared for the trials ahead." A male voice said. Suddenly the crystal ball had a purple mist obscure it's entire vision.

"SUNSET, YOU'VE GOT TO COME OUTSIDE, AND QUICK!" Twilight shouted. Sunset and Starlight both came down soon enough and went outside, only to see Ponies everywhere that weren't the main six going completly crazy.

"Wh-what is this?" Starlight asked.

"We don't know. I just came into town today to grab some carrots, when all of a suddenly, ponies started just spewing out all sorts of crazy things." Fluttershy said.

"Oh my. Are you alright Fluttershy?" Sunset asked.

"I'm fine. Thank you for asking Sunset." Fluttershy said. Soon Night Wing showed up.

"Yo Dash, Princess Luna said there was--" Night Wing was saying before she had to dodge an incoming pinapple. "...Never mind, I think you already know..." The Shadowbolt captain said.

"What about the Wonderbolts? Surely they would've been notified as well." Rainbow Dash said.

"They aren't qualified for this sort of mess. In fact, I'm the only one of the Shadowbolts whose dealt with out-of-control ponies before." Night Wing said. "It's...a long story..." She added.

Suddenly Amare showed up. "Amare, what are you doing here?" Sunset asked.

"Why do you think? These ponies have become effected by a spell that should've never been brought upon them all." Amare said.

"A spell caused this? But then why would the Carrot Vendor use the spell on himself?" Fluttershy asked.

"No pony did this. Nor a changeling for that matter. In fact, I am the only one who knows about the spell because of my mother and even she wouldn't dare cross this sort of line. The spell that did this is some really dark magic, darker then even Sombra could hope to unleash." Amare said. "In fact, the one who unleashed the spell would become completely overtaken by it even attempting it, but I doubt that's the case since it's clearly effecting as many ponies as possible here in Ponyville." Amare said.

"Gah, this is so frustrating. Your basically asking us to--" Rainbow Dash was saying before Amare shushed her. "...What was that for?" The speedster pegasus asked.

"Calm yourself Rainbow Dash; for if you allow your emotions to go any further then this annoyance, the spell will effect you too." Amare warned.

Rainbow Dash gulped. "So...your saying if anyone doesn't keep their emotions in check, the spell will spread to them?" She asked.

"What kind of twisted mind would unleash a spell that could do that?" Starlight asked.

"That's what concerns me. I believe that the culprit wasn't one who adhears to a moral code period. But before we track down the culprit..." Amare stated.

"I know. We have to calm these Ponies down somehow. And I have to be the one to do it." Sunset said.

"Sunset?" Twilight asked.

"My element is that of Empathy, if I'm not the one whose suited to containing such a mass outbreak of out of control emotions, then I don't know who else could be." Sunset said. "But I know I can't do it alone. I'll need the help of all the girls." She added.

"We're right here with you Sunset." Rainbow Dash said.

"I'll do my best to help out as well." Fluttershy said.

"We'll need to find Applejack and Rarity too, but otherwise count me in as well." Twilight said.

"Hey, don't forget about me!" Pinkie Pie said, she was suddenly right next to Amare.

"What the--you weren't there a second ago." Amare said.

"Trust us Amare, trying to figure out Pinkie Pie's antics is doomed to give you a giant headache. Just ask the two eggheads." Rainbow Dash said.

"Not an experience I wish to go through again." Twilight said.

"Same here." Sunset said.

The group was able to get to both Rarity and Applejack who were both okay, and soon were rounding up and calming down the various ponies.

"That...was something else..." Sunset said.

"But we successfully managed to calm every pony down." Night Wing said.

"True, but it makes me wonder, how did this whole mess start in the first place?" Sunset asked.

"Fluttershy said that she was just at the carrot stand before things went crazy all of a sudden." Twilight said.

"Well...it wasn't just him that went crazy to start with: All the food venders did at the exact same time. But no unicorns other than the carrot stand owner were there." Fluttershy said.

"But we've already ruled him out as our culprit, as it couldn't have been him thanks to the fact that he too was just being controlled by his emotions." Twilight said.

"Which means...that it's more likely we aren't looking for a pony. We're looking for a creature we haven't met before." Sunset said.
