Truth & Talent Part 1

After finishing her homework and having dinner, Wynter went to practice on her violin. She played some classical music at first, but then decided to try more rock songs like she had played with her friends over the weekend. Wynter thought about the talent competition. She didn’t know what song she was going to play, but she did know that she had the support of her friends no matter what.

At the same time Wynter kept thinking about her girlfriend Sunset. Ever since Wynter had met Sunset there seemed to be something mysterious about her. Why did she live on her own? Where were her parents? Wynter decided that she would ask Sunset these questions tomorrow.

The next day Wynter was back in her regular clothes and signing up for the talent competition. Just as she was done writing her name on the signup sheet, a girl with white hair approached her.

“So, you’re the new girl here at school?” The girl asked.

Wynter extended her hand. “Yes I am. My name is Wynter, with a Y. What’s your name?”

The girl brushed away Wynter’s hand. “I am the great and powerful Trixie!”

Wynter thought that it was rude of Trixie to brush away her hand when all she wanted was a friendly handshake. “Are you going to sign up for the talent competition too?”

Trixie smirked. “Trixie intends to do more than enter. Trixie intends to win the whole competition!” Trixie signed the signup sheep with bold, fancy letters.

“What is your talent?” Wynter asked.

“You are looking at the greatest illusionist to ever live!” Trixie proudly proclaimed. “Trixie will blow away the audience with her astounding feats!”

“My talent is the violin. I can’t wait to show everyone how good I am.” Wynter said.

Trixie laughed. “Ha! The violin? How pathetic. The only thing your talent will be good for is putting the audience to sleep.” Trixie then turned and began to walk away. “See you later, loser.”

Wow,what a massive bitch.” Wynter thought to herself.

Wynter made her way to her locker where she met up with Sunset. The two greeted each other with a kiss. “So, did you sign up for the talent competition?” Sunset asked.

“I did, but I also came across this rude girl who kept talking in the third person. She said her name was Trixie and that she was a magician or something.” Wynter said.

Sunset crossed her arms. “Ah, I see you met Trixie. Don’t mind her. She gets on everyone’s nerves.”

Wynter finished putting her things away in her locker then turned back to face Sunset. “Sunset I need to have a word with you. Is there some private place where we can talk?”

“You mean other than to get kinky? Sure there is. The music room is pretty soundproof, but most students practice in there during lunch time which is why I chose the locker room for our little hookup. But we can meet there after school if you just want to talk.”

“That sounds perfect. I’ll see you then.” Wynter replied. The bell rang and Wynter and Sunset both went off to their morning classes. School was mostly quiet and uneventful. Wynter would constantly take brief glances at the clock, eagerly awaiting the end of the school day so that she could talk to Sunset. There were so many things that Wynter wanted to ask her about.

Lunch was mostly spent talking about the upcoming talent competition. As Wynter and her friends talked, they were approached by Trixie and two young boys who carried her stuff.

“Well, well. Look who is hanging out with the PLAINbooms.” Trixie said with a mocking tone.

“What do you want, Trixie?” Twilight asked.

“That’s the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie to you!” Trixie snapped back. “Anyway, Trixie is just checking out the competition for the talent show. And Trixie must say, Trixie is not impressed.”

“No one asked you for your opinion Trixie.” Applejack said.

“Yeah, and Wynter is going to mop the floor with you at the talent competition.” Said Rainbow Dash.

Trixie laughed. “Ha! The great and powerful Trixie is hardly concerned with the talents of some new girl. Come Snips, Snails, we must prepare the audience of the talent competition for Trixie’s feats of wonder!” Trixie then turned and walked away with Snips and Snails following close behind.

Wynter looked over at her friends. “Why does Trixie have two younger boys doing her bidding?”

“Who knows? Maybe she’s paying them off or something.” Rarity said. “But don’t worry about that. You have this talent competition won.”

Wynter blushed and scratched the back of her head. “I appreciate the words of encouragement, but I don’t know if I’m that good.”

“Of course you are darling. You have the talent, now all you need is the look. And I have the perfect outfit just in mind for you.”

“Really? I appreciate that Rarity.” Wynter said. The rest of the day went off without a hitch. Wynter got through all of her afternoon classes, and then headed to the music room for her chat with Sunset. Sunset arrived soon after Wynter did.

“So, what did you want to talk about?” Sunset asked.

Wynter took a deep breath. “I have to know Sunset. Why do you live by yourself? Where are your parents?”

Sunset knew that this day was coming. She couldn’t hide the truth from Wynter forever. “The truth is that I’m not from around here. I come from another world called Equestria. It’s a land filled with magic, and inhabited by many beings. I am from a race called unicorns.” Sunset went on to explain the Earth ponies and the pegasi, as well as stealing the crown, fleeing to the human world, redeeming herself with the help of the RainBooms, and finding the elements of harmony.

Wynter just stared at Sunset and raised her eyebrow. “Is this all a practical joke? Something to pull on me since I’m the new kid at school?”

Sunset knew that her words alone would not be enough to convince Wynter that she was telling the truth. Sunset grabbed the element of harmony that was around her neck and, in the words of Rainbow Dash, proceeded to pony up. Sunset rose up into the air and transformed into her pony mode.

Wynter was completely dumbfounded. She stood wide eyed with her jaw practically laying on the floor. Wynter raised her hand and pointed at Sunset. “Y-you…you’re…”

Sunset floated back down to the floor and turned back to her normal self. “Obviously you have lots of questions. I will try my best to answer them all.”

Wynter took a deep breath and placed her hands on top of her head. “Alright, how many students here at the school have these elements of harmony power?”

“Only me and Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie.” Sunset said.

Wynter began pacing back and forth. “So, you’re actually a unicorn from another dimension called Equestria?”

Sunset nodded her head. “That’s correct.”

Wynter crossed her arms in front of herself. “How many Equestrians are there here on Earth? And at this school?”

“Aside from me the only other Equestrians living here on Earth are the dazzlings, Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk. They are sirens but they no longer have their powers.” Sunset said.

Wynter sat down on a piano bench and placed her face in her hands. “I can’t believe all of this is happening. My girlfriend is a magical pony from another dimension.”

Sunset sat down next to Wynter. She then gently placed her hand on Wynter’s face and turned her head so that she was facing her. “Hey, I’m still the girl you fell in love with. I will admit that I am not proud of my past, but you make me feel so good. I’m glad that you’re a part of my life now and I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

Wynter smiled and almost cried tears of joy. She then kissed Sunset passionately and Sunset kissed her back.

Sunset finished kissing Wynter and looked her in the eye. “Let’s not focus on my background right now. Now we have to focus on your performance in the talent competition.”

Wynter made a slight giggle. “You’re right. But I want you to promise me something.”

“Sure, what is it?” Sunset asked.

“If I win the talent competition, I want you to take me to Equestria. I want to see what a world full of magical ponies is like.” Wynter said.

Sunset smiled and shook Wynter’s hand. “You have yourself a deal.”
