New Girl

Sunset led Wynter to downtown Canterlot where they eventually arrived at Canterlot Boutique. “What are we doing here?” Wynter asked.

“We are here to get proper attire for tonight’s dinner with Celestia and Luna.” Sunset replied.

“But we had dinner with Twilight Sparkle last night, and we didn’t need any fancy attire with her.” Wynter pointed out.

Sunset simply smiled and placed her hoof on Wynter’s shoulder. “This is true, but Twilight is a more casual princess. Celestia and Luna are VERY old school. Formal attire is going to be a must.”

Since this was Sunset’s home world, Wynter decided to trust her girlfriend. She then followed her inside Canterlot Boutique where they were instantly greeted by Rarity. “Sunset! Wynter! So wonderful to see you again! Tell me, are you enjoying your vacation?” Rarity asked.

“Oh yes, we are having a great time!” Sunset said. “In fact, Wynter and I are having dinner tonight with Celestia and Luna, and we need some proper attire.”

Rarity raised a hoof in front of Sunset. “Say no more. I will take care of you while my assistant Sassy Saddles takes care of Wynter. OH Sassy!”

A pony with teal hair and an orange mane and tail then appeared from the upper level of Canterlot Boutique and made her way downstairs. “You called Miss Rarity?”

“Yes, Sassy. My friends here have a very important dinner tonight and they absolutely need the right evening gowns.” Rarity said. “I will take care of Sunset Shimmer while you take care of Wynter Storm okay?”

“Not a problem Miss Rarity.” Sassy Saddles replied. She then turned to face Wynter. “Please follow me.” Sassy led Wynter to a private room behind a red velvet curtain that was surrounded by mirrors. Sassy had Wynter stand in the center of the room while she got out a roll measuring tape. “Please hold still while I take your measurements.”

Wynter remained perfectly still as Sassy took her measurements. Once Sassy was done, she moved over to the fabric shelf and pulled out a length of bright blue fabric. “This should be perfect for your dress. The color matches your mane perfectly. What do you think?” Sassy asked.

“It’s just wonderful. I’ll take it.” Wynter responded.

Sassy took the fabric over to a work table. “Excellent. While you wait, help yourself to some sparkling water and fresh fruit in the lobby. This shouldn’t take long.”

Wynter made her way back to the lobby where she found bottles of sparkling water and a bowl of fresh fruit waiting for her. Wynter drank the water and ate some of the fruit. “So this is what it’s like to be pampered.” Wynter thought to herself. “I could get used to this.”

Soon Rarity emerged from behind a curtain with a big smile on her face. “May I present, Sunset Shimmer!” Rarity then used her magic to pull back the curtain and reveal Sunset wearing her evening gown. It was red with bright orange flames sewn across the sides. Wynter was completely awestruck by Sunset’s look. Her mouth fell open and she dropped the grapes that she was eating.

Sunset could not help but giggle. “I guess that means you like it.”

Wynter closed her mouth and shook her head to regain focus. “Yeah, you look great!”

Sassy then appeared from behind her curtain. “Your dress is ready Wynter.”

“I’ll be right there.” Wynter replied. She turned and booped Sunset on the nose. “I’ll be right back.” Wynter then went behind the curtain. After a few minutes, Sassy Saddles emerged from behind the curtain.

“May I present, Wynter Storm!” Sassy then pulled back the curtain to reveal Wynter in her dress. It was bright blue to match her mane and tail. Sparkling snowflakes were sewn all over the dress to match Wynter’s cutie mark.

“So, do you like it?” Wynter asked.

“Like it? I love it!” Sunset replied. She then walked up to Wynter and whispered in her ear. “But to be honest, I would prefer to see you out of it.”

“Well, I must say that you two are definitely ready for your royal dinner tonight.” Rarity said.

“Thank you so much for the dresses. How much do we owe you?” Sunset asked.

Rarity simply waved her hoof. “Oh darling, these dresses are on the house. Think of them as gifts from one friend to another.”

Both Sunset and Wynter Hugged Rarity and Sassy. They then had their dresses packed up and they then made their way back to the castle to get ready for that night’s dinner with Celestia and Luna.

That night Sunset and Wynter put on their newly made dresses and made their way down to the royal hall. A pair of guards opened the massive doors while a third guard introduced them. “Introducing Sunset Shimmer and Wynter Storm!” Wynter and Sunset were amazed by how wonderfully the royal hall had been decorated to honor Luna and Celestia. Flowers and gold streamers were everywhere.

Celestia and Luna approached Sunset and Wynter, who were both quick to bow before the princesses of the sun and moon. “Sunset, it is so good to see you again!” Celestia said. She then turned to face Wynter. “And you must be Wynter Storm. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

“I am truly honored to meet you as well, Princess Celestia.” Wynter said. “It is also an honor to meet you Princess Luna.”

“IT IS AN HONOR TO MEET YOU AS WELL!” Princess Luna said in her royal Canterlot voice. Wynter was taken completely by surprise by this, and the force of the voice nearly knocked her on her butt.

“Luna, we have talked about this.” Celestia said. “There is no more need for the royal Canterlot voice.”

“I apologize.” Luna said. “Old habits are hard to get rid of.”

Wynter shook her head and rubbed her ears. “That’s alright. Shall we sit down to dinner?”

Celestia, Luna, Sunset, and Wynter all sat down at the royal table and waited to be served dinner. Celestia looked at Wynter. “So Wynter, I understand that you come from the human world. Sunset has lived there for some time, but I do believe you are the first human to visit our world. Aside from that spring break incident. Do tell me, what is it like to be a human and to live in your world?”

Wynter paused and thought for a moment. How was she going to describe what it is like to be human?
