Epilogue: Path Towards a New Day

Previous Chapter

After everything they had seen during their visit to Equus, everything from the clash with her aunt to the information that they gained in the Crystal Empire, Flurry decided to return to Ponyville, in time to watch and help someone create the new portal that linked Equus to the world she had been living on for a long time. She and her father ensured that the portal was set outside the area that their home was in, the one that Faye had helped them build before sharing her life with them, so it was like a reminder of the good times in a sense, and the bonds that had been forged after her death. The figure who did the work, however, happened to be a surprise since it was none other than Spike, who had saved the Crystal Empire and had a statue somewhere in the empire, though he was totally different as well, standing as a young adult dragon that was nearly like the Dracthyr. He was an impressive figure now, wielding magic that was far beyond what she would have assumed he would have access to, dressed in a mage's robe that was specially made for him and wielding a staff that was unlike any she had seen back in Greece or the Nine Realms.

She also found that Spike was much like Twilight now, he had a love of reading and knowledge that she didn't remember him having, but she chalked it up to the fact that she barely knew him before they were displaced, in fact Spike now seemed like a dragon version of her aunt, despite her aunt having a Dracthyr counterpart already.

"So you're telling me that you're one of the youngest Archmages in the history of the world you were sent to?" Flurry asked, though at the same time she believed it, as the power he was displaying right now seemed appropriate for such a title, and she was doubly sure on that when she considered that he had figured out how to cross vast distances of space to link her father's world to this one.

"Yes, but Malefor, the first purple dragon, holds the honor of being the first youngest Archmage... I tell you, our tales might be awesome, but his tales are the stuff of legends." Spike replied, but even then he still remembered meeting Malefor, in the flesh no less, and then discovering that the tales about him were true had been an interesting time as well, something that caused him to chuckle for a moment as he glanced at Flurry, "And he's still alive, even after a thousand years... still trying to figure out if that's a power of the purple dragons of Spyro's world or something he learned over time... so if you have the chance to speak with him, do so. Trust me, you won't regret it. Also, I have to talk with you and your siblings at some point in the future, just to learn more about the world you were sent to... and Twilight will come as well."

"Of course, because she loves new knowledge." Flurry remarked, she knew her aunt well enough to know that she loved to learn new things, and based on what she had seen so far it looked like her aunt was dividing her focus between checking on the Displaced that were found, studying the demonic empire that was threatening their world, and learning about each of the worlds that were out there, "Just be prepared for her to take an extended vacation to the world I was sent to... no, I'm not abandoning everyone while the demons are out there, but I need time to come to terms with everything, and there could be a few loose ends to tie up. Once we're done I'll be back to start training some of your warriors to be proper fighters, or at least offer some insight that maybe Twilight's forces can't offer... you have to admit, having the advice of a God of War's daughter, and the God of War himself... plus a retired one, since Tyr's with us... isn't something one can just pass up."

"I thought you guys were done with the war?" Spike commented, though at the same time he and Flurry walked away from the Nexus, the area that all of the portals were resting in, connecting this world to all of the others that the Displaced had been sent to so far, those that had returned so far since there weren't portals to two worlds, since the ones sent there had no intention of returning to Equus.

"Ragnarok is over, that is true, but we're still dealing with the side effects of dealing with Odin and changing the balance of power that he installed in the Nine Realms... stuff like that doesn't just disappear overnight." Flurry said, though at the same time she found that her aunt was passing by and landed near them, but she suspected that Twilight knew what her decision was and that she was going to be gone for some time, especially considering the look of understanding that was on her aunt's face as soon as she approached them, "I know there is a lot of stuff happening, what with the demons and the fact that we have an army that needs to be trained, but there are some items back home that need to be addressed before my father, my brother, my sister, our friends, and I even think about joining the war effort."

"And I'm not surprised. Some of the displaced and their friends or family ended up returning to the world they were sent to for a time, to finish some unfinished business." Twilight replied, in fact she had noticed it while they were walking through the Crystal Empire earlier, her niece wanted to make sure she could give the war effort her full focus when the time came and that meant dealing with the remaining threats or missions they had left behind when Rivet and Discord found them, to which she smiled for a moment, "Plus it gives you time to have some fun with your lover... don't be so surprised, you're a chip off the old block: your father fell for a love goddess, in a sense, and succeeded, and it seems that you are doing the same with Aphrodite."

"Okay... and you aren't worried about that in the slightest?" Flurry asked, especially since her godhood was Death, meaning if she and Aphrodite actually had a child they would likely be a strong god or goddess when they reached the age where they matured into gods, so it was a little odd that she was so calm in the face of the potential that might be brought into the vast universe in the distant future.

"Not really. I'm dating a God of Destruction, so I'm not even surprised by you loving a Goddess of Love... nor am I worried about any children you might have, since you know what you're doing." Twilight remarked, because after what she had seen and learned from the group, about Flurry and her new family, she knew that Flurry was a smart girl and understood how to raise a child without it backfiring on her and her family in a horrible manner, "But, if you do end up having a kid with her, and you find yourself in need of someone calming down a raging beast, I'm always open to help... I have some experience in the art of calming raging kids."

That caused Flurry to chuckle a little, as it was nice to see that her aunt wasn't always so serious about things, though after that she did hug the pair for a moment before approaching the portal that the rest of her family and friends were waiting by, to which she looked back at her aunt for a moment before stepping through the portal.

"Flurry, are you sure about this?" Kratos asked, speaking on the other side of the newly formed portal, which did set them in the area they had helped Spike open the portal to, which was actually rather impressive in his mind, but at the same time his focus was on his daughter, on the fact that she had spent years trying to figure out where she came from, only to now leave that world behind.

"Father, I... I just need time to come to terms with everything. I mean, I'm a princess, my parents are the leaders of an empire and have gone missing, and there's a demonic empire threatening my home world." Flurry replied, as she understood what this might look like, especially to her brother since he had spent most of Ragnarok searching for the answers to his own life and had gotten them by meeting Angrboda, only for her to back off after learning more about herself, "Besides, we still have some things to do, some threats to take down, in this world and I would like to focus on them first... it'll give me time to think about what I've seen, go over the information I have learned, and come to terms with everything before I decide to head back and join the war effort. Make no mistake, I fully intend on helping them out with their training and preparations, and I'll even clash with some of their warriors to make sure they are moving in the right direction... I just need to clear up a couple of things in my mind before I head back home."

Kratos nodded, as he was willing to let his children do what they wanted, especially after everything they had been through, despite the fact that Atreus needed a few more lessons before he was willing to give his son that freedom, and he knew that if Flurry wanted to spend some time thinking about her life he couldn't blame her. It was like when he discovered that he was the son of Zeus, that after the war for Olympus part of him had stepped down to think about what that meant and how it affected him, even though he had killed his father to help free all of Greece. He understood the situation Flurry was in, as she was a princess, born of a powerful union from the sounds of her Equestrian mother and father, especially since she was the first natural born alicorn in over a thousand years, something Twilight had confirmed multiple times after saying it, as it was a piece of information many of them wanted to confirm. His daughter needed time to figure out things about herself in regards to the knowledge she had gained, just like when Pandora was eased into her godhood and spoke with the spirit that Hephaestus had left for her, and Kratos was willing to give her all the time she needed.

Of course there was more work to do in the Nine Realms and Greece, as they needed to make sure everything was fine and that no one was doing anything to upset the delicate balance they had tried to create, something that caused them to start walking towards Tyr's Temple, as it was a new day and he knew that they would walk it's path together, and soon they'd be back to help with the war effort, but that was a problem for another day and he was looking forward to what the future held in store for them and their friends.
