Orchestral - Overture
Ponies are simply incapable of understanding at the level we do, for it would destroy their minds. They can not understand the toll that is taken on me in these last days. My sister is gone, not to return for a millennium, and I can't help but think it was my fault. When she was sent away, I felt truly alone. I had lost my sister and I couldn't stop thinking it was my fault.
My subjects can't understand me. They're glad. Glad the traitor is gone. My sister wasn't a traitor. It was not even her that caused the events of that day! They can't even see that! It angers me! Just because I am the one that you see on a normal basis doesn't mean you treat me differently than my sister!
All my sister wanted was her dues. I was respected, and I could have instructed my subjects to treat my sister with the same! She may have been saved, but now I'm stuck, looking at her every night. I haven't even slept! Three days without sleep! I just need to see the moon. My sister, could you ever forgive me for your punishment?
And so the pony waited, her eyes drawing slowly closed as her cheeks began to dampen. Dark streaks began to run down her face, her makeup streaking as a single tear fell from her eye. She did not know why she was waiting. Maybe for exhaustion? Maybe for her sister? She couldn't hold herself awake anymore, laying down with her head on her hooves as she drifted off to her dreams of sadness.
End of chapter one.
"Fate has been cruel, order unkind. How could I have sent you away? The blame was my own; the punishment yours. The harmony is silent today..."
Orchestral - Lullaby, Lullaby
The great sun princess began to wake. Her makeup had been smeared and blotched, streaks falling from her eyes to her chin, but she didn't care. It wasn't as if anypony was going to see her today, anyway. The sun was still below the horizon, the moon still in the same place as it was the previous night.
She didn't have the heart to move the moon. She couldn't shove her sister away. The sun began to rise as the princess began to focus, but the moon stayed in its place, refusing to move. Closer and closer the two celestial bodies came, their paths making it seem as if they were going to collide. The sun touched the moon, and kept going, becoming completely obscured by it. The most beautiful sight had illuminated in the dark sky, an aura of blue hovering around the moon, accentuating further what had appeared, an image of her sister now glowing with the same aura that surrounded the moon, which had been drawn into the surface. The eyes held a brighter light, brighter than the sun itself, which made the princess hesitant to look at them.
As Celestia gazed into the eyes of the moon, she could feel emotions which had no place in her mind. Anger, hatred, distrust. She could feel her sister, and her sister could feel her. Her sister could feel her emotions. Her sister could hear her thoughts. Luna felt the regret. She felt the sorrow, and the regret, the sadness and the loneliness. She didn't care. Luna cast these emotions away, not wanting to hear them.
Celestia was hurt. Her own sister wanted nothing to do with her!
Luna's unhappiness grew, the entity was taking even more control. Her own sister was pathetic! Sending her to her own moon! How dare she do this to her? She wanted nothing but peace, but her sister never helped! It was her sister's fault, she hadn't wanted to do anything but she had to! She had to fight for herself or she never receive recognition, she would just sit in the background and be useless!
The sun princess did not want this. She wanted the princess to forgive! Celestia sat, her heart controlling her actions and emotions. She opened her mouth, and began to sing a song.
"Luna, Luna, I didn't want you to go,
Because you're the best sister that I've ever known.
When you chose to become evil, to throw it all away,
I did not want, but I had to, send you away.
Luna, forgive me, I'm sorry, I say
You're not you, I know, but it filled my heart with dismay.
Your heart may be filled with hatred, your intentions unclear,
But why? There was no reason to have filled our hearts with fear.
Luna, I sing to you, I hope you can hear,
Remember me always, don't shed a single tear.
Your night is beautiful, far better than my day,
When the sun sets; the stars come out, "It's beautiful" they say.
Now Princess, sleep, sleep the pain away,
And before you know it, you'll see the light of another day."
End of chapter two.
"But into the stillness, I'll bring you a song, your company I will keep, until your tired eyes, and my lullabies have carried you softly to sleep."
