To clarify Age of the main three heroes (not accurate in other stories):
Tia is 9
Acey (OC Middle Child) is 7
Luna is 4
And mentioning their parents, after having lost them a year ago, will be implied. A guardian will be looking after the three siblings in the prologue, but after that, it's mainly about the three.
Anyways, enough said, enjoy!
Prologue
Three soon-to-be royal siblings had been a great bond, despite being troublemakers one time or another.
Celestia, or for short at the time, Tia, is the eldest of the three siblings. She had a white fur coat and pink mane. Her magenta colored eyes were ones of beauty. While her personality was down-to-earth, Tia never ONCE been able to express herself much.
Mike, nicknamed Acey, is the middle child and only brother of the three. He was not like his siblings, as he was a Hybrid, a human who has Alicorn abilities. The red hair, blue eyes and green shirt were reflective for those who knew Acey. While Tia was shy, Acey was QUITE LITERALLY the complete opposite. Acey would express in a way that he see is as honest as possible. Acey's problem is that his emotions nearly get the better of him.
And then there is Luna, the youngest one of the three, with her blue fur coat and her mane of sky blue and teal eyes. Almost ALWAYS, Tia and Acey would look out for Luna.
But little did these three know that one day, they'd be in such a huge situation where they have to protect their home and even each other!

The Three's day started off like boring as usual. Then, one thing leading to another, Tia and Luna end up in a rivalry, chasing each other down. Acey did NOT wish to know what it was about this time.
"Oh, no," Said Acey. "What're they on about THIS time?"
This was definitely not the first time Acey saw Tia and Luna get in a Sibling Rivalry. From the time Luna was two, she and Tia always had gotten in a rivalry and Acey always had to be the one to end up splitting them up from practically killing each other.
Acey chased the two down and separated them.
Acey sighed, "Alright, you two. What's the arguing about THIS time?"
Luna said, "Tia won't share the markers!"
"That's because you kept drawing on the walls," Said Tia. "Guardian Star told me I can't let you have them anymore. Last time was a complete disaster!"
Acey growled, "Knock it off. Luna, you have CRAYONS, now don't you?"
Luna protested, "Why are you siding with Tia?!"
Acey said, "I ain't siding with either of you. Yes, Tia has no reason to hog the markers and normally, I'd ask her to share, but Guardian Star is right. Star says no more with the markers. Now can you please leave me be and keep it down?"
Tia and Luna groaned, "Fine."
Acey sighed. He had no idea how much longer he had to deal with this. Despite being the middle child, yes, he can understand helping Luna, but WHY does he have to separate Tia and Luna everytime something goes wrong.
Guard Star said, "Acey, what's the matter?"
Acey replied, "Tia and Luna got in ANOTHER rivalry over the markers."
Guard Star asked, "Again? That's the third time this week."
"I know," Said Acey. "And you already said Luna can't have them, right?"
Guard Star said, "I'm sure it's a phase, Acey."
"You say that, yet, it's an EVERYDAY thing," Said Acey. "And everyday it happens, I ask myself what fresh hell they're on about."
Guard Star said, "Now Acey, you shouldn't be swearing."
Acey sighed, "Yes, but you GET my point, right?"
Guard Star assured him, "I do. But show your support. They ARE your sisters after all."
Acey nodded. He couldn't disagree with Guard Star. Acey was NOT the only one who was depressed with losing their parents.
But out of the three siblings, only ACEY knows why truly, but Guard Star convinced him to say absolutely nothing to Tia and Luna until the time came. The problem was, though, Acey never knew when that time would come. It would be beyond his control.
And worst of all, Acey never knew what his destiny was. Tia's would be to bring out the day every morning and Luna's would be to bring out the night every evening. But Acey's destiny? Not a thing yet.

Then came the afternoon. Tia, Luna and Acey, by noon, would always get along just fine.
But this afternoon was different, and not for the better. Acey saw Luna crying.
Acey asked, "Luna? What's the matter?"
"Guard Star has gone missing, Acey," Luna sobbed.
Acey said, "Now, Luna, don't joke with me like that."
"She's not kidding this time, Acey," Tia said. "Something's wrong here!"
Acey then squinted for a second. Then he could see in their eyes that something was, in fact, wrong!
Acey thought to himself, Okay Michael. Don't panic! Maybe Guard Star is taking a nap?
Next thing they find is Guard Star's room, hoping that Guard Star was sleeping. But unfortunately, that was NOT the case.
One of the assistants (Tia, Luna and Acey's soon-to-be royal guards) said, "I'm sorry, but Guard Star is—"
The assistant put his head down in sadness. Acey could already tell where this was going.
Tia sobbed, "Guard Star!"
Acey's sadness became anger within SECONDS. Then, Acey dashed off to his room.
The royal assistant asked, "Prince Acey? What do you plan on doing?"
Acey replied, coldly, "I'm getting to the bottom of this!"
Then Acey slammed the door.

Acey started looking for clues once Acey got his searching supplies and came back to the now empty bedroom Guard Star slept in. He didn't just see red splatters, presumably blood, but he also saw black shadowy splatters of goop. He refrained from touching the goo, as nobody and nopony knows what would happen if corrupted by it.
Acey asked, "Splatters of blood?"
Acey shuddered at the sight of the corpse.
Acey whispered, "Rest easy, Guard Star. You did your service for us, albeit cut short."
Acey then saw the dark substance.
"Darkness?!" Acey exclaimed.
Acey cleaned off the black gooey substance before he got caught corrupt with the stuff.
Acey said to himself, "Deductive reasoning leads me to the conclusion that DARKNESS is spreading! And that Tia, Luna and I have to do something about it."
Acey remembered their father's last words.
When the darkness tries to spread over your kingdom, Acey, that's when the time comes to make things right.
Then, it was PERFECTLY clear as to what Acey had to do!
