How Did We Get Here?

Hello. My name is Saturn White. I am a gray unicorn stallion. I will talk about my feelings and my experiences upon my arrival to Ponyville with my brother Sparky. But before I tell you, I need to talk a little bit about my brother and I, how we got here, and what we did.

Our story begins in the great city of Manehattan, far from Ponyville. My mother and father were expecting one infant, and not two. But then, the egg split, and low and behold, there was not one, but two infants! Our mother, father, and even the doctor were surprised by this.

"Two infants?" the doctor asked.

Our mother, however, was very happy. So happy in fact, that she burst into tears.

"It's like a new era for the family!" our father said.

I won't disclose my mother's and father's names, but I'll just call them Mr. and Mrs. White for now.

There were some debates on what our names should've been, such as Cosmos or Scout. But in the end, they chose our final names as Saturn and Sparky. We loved those names and preferred those names only.

Years passed, and all was going well. We were finally colts, and so, we enrolled at the local school near our house. Sparky and I got fantastic grades, and we got some of the highest scores in our class. Many were proud. But the reactions from some of our other classmates? Not so much.

"Ha! Those two nerds look like they belong together!" one colt said.

"Yeah! If they were one pony, we'd have the biggest nerd in the school!" another called out.

We heard their reactions and got upset about it. In fact, so upset that Sparky walked over to them and told the heck off them!

"Listen to me, you two," Sparky told them. "I don't care what you think about me or my brother. All we care about is that we'll become so successful in the future that one day, you'll probably be living in the streets and when you see us again, you'll come crying to us saying that you're sorry for all the stuff you did in the past. You got that?"

Unfortunately, they didn't take it seriously and laughed their tails off about it in disbelief.

"You? So successful in the future?" that one colt said. "All I could see in the future is that you'll become greedy for money and other powerful stuff!"

Sparky was taken aback and walked back to me.

"They didn't take me seriously, brother," he told me.

I denied that. "Don't worry about those ponies! They were probably just jealous of us being the best ever. I was also shocked at what you said to them! I didn't think you had it in you. We both will be successful ponies Equestria has ever seen!"

Sparky looked at me. "You think?"

"I don't think. I know," I corrected.

Sparky smiled. "Alright! Let's do this!"

As more years passed, we both continued to successfully pass and ace our quizzes and exams. More ponies continued making fun of us. But they didn't stop or slow us down. Like I said to Sparky before, they were just jealous. So we kept on going with our honors.

When we reached the higher ups of school, Sparky attended writing class and I went for science class. And eventually, over 2 years later, as we graduated from our school, we had already planned to shift to independent lives. But we kept this secret between ourselves until it was the right time to explain it to our parents.

One day, during our dinner, we talked about our decisions with our parents. Mr. and Mrs. White were surprised at our decisions.

"Where are you gonna live now?" Mrs. White asked.

Sparky and I already had one town in mind that we wanted to live in: Ponyville.

"Ponyville," Sparky answered. "You know, the home of Twilight Sparkle?"

"The Princess of Friendship?" Mr. White said.

"Yes, the Princess-" I stopped there because I think they know who I'm talking about.

Mr. and Mrs. White were not sure. So they whispered over to each other.

"Should we?" Mrs. White asked.

"I don't know," Mr. White told her. "Have we saw them live on their own while we were out for a couple of days?"

"Yeah, it seemed so," Mrs. White said.

Now I know what you're gonna say: how do I know what they're saying? It's simple: I had good hearing.

"Well, boys," Mr. White told us. "We've talked about it, and it seems that..."

Sparky and I shook with what they were about to say.

"...you will live on your own!"

Both of us smiled almost immediately when we heard Mr. White say those words.

"Now don't get excited, you two," Mrs. White advised us. "We still have to talk with a realtor to buy you a new house. Have you decided where in Ponyville you're gonna live in?"

We explained it to them.

"It was hard figuring where in Ponyville we should move to, but the outskirts were our best option. We wanted our house to be right in the town square, but we figured it would be busy sometimes. So we changed it," I explained it to them.

"Very well, then. Tomorrow, we'll talk with a realtor about that."

And we finished our dinner after that.

The next day, Mr. and Mrs. White called in a realtor and they talked and talked for hours nonstop. Sparky and I listened to their conversation from outside the room, and they didn't know. Then the realtor took out a map of Ponyville to show our parents where we'll be staying at.

"Where do you want it to be?" the realtor asked.

"Well," Mr. White said, "they said they'll stay in the outskirts."

They pointed where we wanted our house to be: smack dab around the outskirts.

The realtor thought about it and said it was a good choice. "Well, your stallions made the right choice. I'll talk with the owner later."

"Thanks, sir," Mr. White said.

He opened the door, but Sparky and I had left that time.

"So when are we moving?" I asked Mr. White.

"Well, he said the Equestria Department of Housing will send a letter about the house straight to us tomorrow."

Time would tell if that letter would say yes or no.

Three days after the meeting with the realtor, we got an envelope in the mail. I took it, opened it, and read it out loud to Sparky, Mr. and Mrs. White. This was what it read:

Dear Mr. or Mrs. White,

We are proud to inform you that your request for purchasing the house in Ponyville has been accepted! Your citizen status for Ponyville has been authorized. Thank you and have a great day.

Yours truly,
River Parks
Head of Equestria Department of Housing

When I finished that note, we were all screaming for joy. Tomorrow was the day Sparky and I will finally live on our own! I couldn't wait for that day.

Author's Note

Fun Fact: Cosmos and Scout were the original working names for Saturn.
