Saturn & Sparky

Day 1

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

5:15 a.m.

5:15 was the time we got up because our train would be leaving at 7:00 in the morning. I know it's too early for a train ride, but we both wanted a headstart. So we purchased the 7:00 a.m. ticket.

As soon as we woke up, Sparky and I packed our bags quickly. Breakfast was limited too. I took an egg sandwich and Sparky, out of all the things he could take, took some potato chips. But I can't blame him, since we had to be early, but we had to have something fill our stomachs. I heated my sandwich and ate it quickly, and since Sparky had the bag of chips, he was finished before me.

Before we left, I had to get my journal to express my thoughts and feelings about my new life in Ponyville. Sparky had some questions about my journal.

"Why are you taking that journal with you?" he asked.

"Well," I answered, "you gotta have something to write your feelings on."

"You know what? That's a really clever idea, man." Sparky put his front right leg around my neck and smiled. "I like the way you think, even though I'm like 5 seconds older than you."

He was right. I was born 5 seconds after he was born. But age didn't matter. All that mattered was that we were together, no matter what.

6:20 a.m.

The taxi ride was a bit bumpy. Mr. White wasn't very happy with that.

"My goodness," he complained. "What kind of ride is this?"

We snickered a little.

"Hey, Saturn?" Sparky asked me. "What do you think Ponyville would be like?"

I had no idea how it'd be, living on our own. But I said this to him. "I think it'd be an abomination."

Sparky was confused when I said that. "Why?"

"Eh, you know. Paying taxes?"

Now he started to get my point. "Ohh... Sounds like this is gonna be a lot tougher than we thought, huh?"

I nodded. "Yeah, Sparky. But we'll see."

Mrs. White checked in with us to make sure we had everything.

"Do you have your clothes?" she asked.

"Yes, ma," I said.

"Your passports?"

"Yes." I think she meant tickets, but tickety rickety, it's still the same thing.

6:35 a.m.

We arrived at the Maneway Station. It wasn't as busy as we thought it was, but at least it could cut the time. We all got out of the cab and walked inside the station.

This was when we separated from our parents. As soon as we got in, they stopped. We turned and looked at them.

"Why did you stop?" I asked.

"This is where our travel here ends," Mrs. White said.

"We've appreciated your time here," Mr. White said. "Sure, there were our ups and downs, but we still love you both, no matter what happens."

Sparky was tearing up, and he ran over to them to hug them. I felt sad too.

"I'll miss you both," he said tearfully.

"Saturn," Mr. White called to me, "why don't you give your old parents a hug too?"

I also came in for their family hug. It was the best one yet.

"Don't forget to visit us during Hearth's Warming Eve," Mrs. White reminded us. "We'd appreciate it."

"We will," I said to them.

Sparky and I walked over to the security gates as we kept waving goodbye to our parents before they were nowhere in sight. It was sad leaving someone you love for a long time.

We passed our security check and then seated in the lounge, waiting for our train to arrive. Sparky opened his sketchbook and began drawing some sketches. I noticed that he drew a lot of pictures of us in different places around Equestria and abroad, so I looked over at him.

"Hey, Sparky," I asked, "what's with all these drawings of us in Canterlot, Appaloosa, and even the goshdarn Moon?"

"Oh, these?" Sparky acknowledged. "They're all just my imagination. You know me, I like drawing stuff I imagine."

"Canterlot's very close to Ponyville," I told him. "So once we get there, we'll probably stop by."

"You think we'll see Princess Celestia or Luna?" he said.

"Who knows, Sparky?" I replied. "Who knows?"

The intercom had just announced that our train had just arrived. Sparky and I were thrilled for the ride. But not literally.

"Oh, man," Sparky said excitedly. "Here we go, brother!"

I shook my head as I smiled. Sparky was excited to go on that train.

Finally, the crew started boarding the train. We showed the conductor our tickets and he directed us to our seats. I was in the window, and Sparky was in the aisle seat.

"Thank gosh!" Sparky exclaimed. "It took a while."

"It's only been 10 minutes, Sparks," I said to him.

"Maybe to you, but not to me." Sparky was impatient during the waiting time, but I didn't mind that.

It took another 5 minutes for everyone to board the train. Then, after what seemed like forever, they were finally done boarding everyone.

"Good morning, fillies and gentlecolts," the conductor announced. "Welcome aboard the Northeast Equestrian Express, en route to Ponyville."

The train blew its whistle, and we were off in a dash.

I looked out the window as we approached the bridge leaving Manehattan. "So long, Manehattan!"

7:50 a.m.

The train finished a fourth of its journey halfway. Sparky was sleeping on my neck, but I liked it, and wrapped my left front arm around his neck.

The conductor walked over to us and offered me some water. "Would you like some water?"

I declined it. "No, thanks."

"Okay. By the way, that stallion sleeping on you looks adorable."

I was surprised that he said that. "Thank you." It really does.

As soon as the conductor left, Sparky finally woke up.

"What time is it?" he said tiredly.

I smiled. "Only a fourth."

"Only a fourth? How long have I been sleeping for?" he asked as he yawned.

"35 minutes." I had a time watch, so I could tell how long he slept.

"Well, that's not too long. Where are we?"

I looked at a waterfall we were passing by. We must've been in Neighagra Falls. Sparky went over to the window and saw the waterfall. He was stunned at what he was seeing.

"Hibernating horns!" That was his catchphrase. I laughed at that sometimes. "The waterfall is beautiful this time of year! Dang, we must be really lucky to move like this."

He was right. It was beautiful this time of the year.

"Hey, Saturn?" he asked me.

"What's up?" I answered.

"You got a bucket list of what we'll do when we adjust to our lives in Ponyville?"

I haven't planned a bucket list, because I didn't think there'd be a lot of stuff we'd do there.

"Sorry, but no," I told him.

"Then I'll make one!" He used his horn to take out his notebook from his bag. And from there, I saw a lot of books. I was shocked at how many books he brought with him. I thought he brought only one book, and that was his sketchbook. But no, he has his notebook as well. His other books talked about economies, work, etc.

"Why do you have so many books?" I asked him.

"Oh, you know, to learn more! Like economics and work, it goes on." Seemed like he had a whole career ahead of him. I didn't make fun of him for that, though. I nodded, since I very well understood what he said.

Sparky was writing down some notes on his notebook with his horn. He showed it to me.

"Alright, what do you think of this?" He showed it to me. The title said: "Things I Want to Do With My BBF (Best Brother Forever)". And then underneath it talked about things he wanted to do with me. I figured it'd be some bucket list, like he said.

"This one I like the most." I pointed my hoof over to one bullet point that said: "Watch the Meteor Shower"

"Oh, I knew you'd pick that one," he said. It was a cliched choice, but who cares, am I right?

8:15 a.m.

We had a quick stop at Bitsburgh. There were some delays, like one where the train ahead of us had its brakes not working properly, so that train was at the platform for an hour.

"Fillies and gentlecolts," announced the conductor, "we apologize for the delay at Bitsburgh. A train ahead of us had its brakes broken, and the engineers took their time checking the problem. But we are now good to go. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience."

"Oh my," said Sparky. "Good thing nopony was hurt, right?"

"Definitely," I told him. "There's no way somepony got hurt by that."

And that was it. Nothing else happened in Bitsburgh, except that delay I mentioned.

Well, that was I thought, because inside the train, we both spotted someone that we knew about for years: the one and only A.K. Yearling. She wrote those Daring Do books I spot in some libraries I visit. We were so confused about what she was doing here. Doesn't she live in Northwest Equestria or something?

"Excuse me?" I asked her. "Are you A.K. Yearling?"

"Yes," she said. "Why?"

"My brother Sparky and I knew about your book series Daring Do, if that's what you write?"

Yearling knew what I was talking about. "Oh! Those! I'm glad to see that someone knows on this train knows about me and my book series."

Sparky intervened. "Anyways, ma'am, what are you doing here on the train to Ponyville?"

"I'm headed back to Ponyville for a little trip I'm on. The reason I was here in Bitsburgh was because I was attending some comic convention downtown."

I was surprised at that. "Aren't you tired from all that signing or whatever you do at conventions?"

"No, I didn't feel tired. In fact, I did love signing all the ponies' books."

We were impressed by that. And then, it was time to part ways.

"Well, it was nice meeting you all. Enjoy the ride!" And then she left us.

Sparky was stunned at what he saw. "Can you believe it? We just met a celebrity!"

"Shh," I told him. "I get you're excited, but keep it down here."

"Sorry," he said to me.

I understood why he was excited, but we were in a public place. So I didn't want us to cause a scene.

9:10 a.m.

Okay, we're almost done. I just want to give a quick highlight of the trip that there was an incident in a city we were passing by that almost caused the rest of the route to be cancelled, so just keep that in mind of what comes next.

As we were passing by Detrot, we saw some black smoke coming from the downtown area of the city. The passengers, us included, were confused as to what we were seeing in the distance.

"What's going on?" I said.

"I think there's a fire in Detrot," Sparky told me.

To our surprise, when we stopped by, no pony was there. So all of us were immensely confused. I knew something was up. Then, the conductor made an announcement that stunned us all.

"Fillies and gentlecolts," announced the conductor, "please stay in your seats at this time. We just got word from the Detrot Police Department that a building has collapsed in the downtown area."

All of us were shocked at what we heard. That must be why there were smoke coming out of downtown.

"My gosh!" I said. "I hope everyone's alive and safe."

Sparky wished the same too.

The train finally resumed its journey again. And as we left, I could see more smoke rising from the ground and into the air. I was wishing every pony got out.

9:55 a.m.

Well, this is where our journey to Ponyville ends. It was great having to ride a train with none other than my BBF in the world. Sure, it had its ups and downs, but we still had fun nonetheless.

The train stopped by at the Ponyville Station. We packed our stuff, double-checked to make sure we had everything, and exited the train.

"Goodbye, city life!" Sparky and I said. "And hello, country life!"

Ponyville looked so big than I thought it'd be. We looked around from the station as we saw the Town Hall, the Castle of Friendship, and I even saw the Canterlot Castle from down here.

"Get us a map, Sparks," I told him.

"Right on it!" Sparky went over to the counter and took out a brochure with the map of Ponyville on it.

"So, where's our house?" I asked him, since he had the map.

"I think it's right here." He pointed his hoof to somewhere near the Marigold Lake.

I looked up. "That way." So we got off the station and walked towards our new house.

Everything looked so peaceful here. There ain't any cabs, no big buildings, and no blocking. Just small, cottage-like houses in a country-like setting. And I love it. But there was some downers here. As we walked, I accidentally bumped into a pony.

"Hey, watch it!" the pony yelled.

"Jeez, sorry, we're not from here," I apologized.

As we continued walking, a pink Earth pony walked over to us and asked us some questions.

"Hey!" asked the pony. "Are you two new here?"

We knew who this pony was: Pinkie Pie.

"Yes," I said. "Pinkie Pie."

"Ooh! How'd you know my name? Do you have Pinkie Sense too?"

We were confused by what she said.

"No?" Sparky said. "We just got here. Plus, we know your name because we see you in newspapers sometimes."

"Ah!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

"Anyways, why are you chatting with us?" I asked her.

"I've never seen you in Ponyville before. I just wanted to check you out," Pinkie explained to us.

"Well, we're moving here. So —"

Pinkie Pie interrupted me. "Ooh! You want a welcoming party?"

"No, thank you. We'd prefer peace and quiet," Sparky told her.

Pinkie Pie was shocked. "You don't want a welcome party?"

"We're sure," I replied.

"Well, if you change your mind, you know where to find me!" And she rushed off in a jiffy.

Sparky and I looked at each other in confusion.

"What was that?" Sparky said.

"Don't know, but it's probably because she's the Element of Laughter," I said.

"Maybe so," he said. And we kept on going.

There was another Earth pony we saw. But boy, let me tell you, it wasn't so great.

While we kept walking, we saw someone that hated our guts for so long: Trail Blazer. He kept tormenting us back in our final grades of school, and it was so horrifying! Some of the things he did to us were throwing paper balls at us, and purposely crashing to us. It all came to an end when it was said that Trail was moving away from Manehattan, and man, oh man, we were glad he was rid of.

But that all changed when he saw us walking down the path.

"Hey, you two unicorns!" Trail called out.

Sparky knew who that was. "Oh no, it's Trail Blazer! What's he doing here?"

"I don't know!" I said. "But all we have to do is just keep walking, and maybe he'll ignore us."

We both kept walking as if nothing ever happened. But that still didn't keep Trail away from us, because he instead just interrupted us in front of our path.

"You two look like you're a long way from home, aren't you?" he said to us.

"What are you talking about?" I told him.

"Don't act like you don't know... Saturn and Sparky."

He didn't forget our names, even if it's been years!

"Anyways, what are you doing here?" he asked us.

"Well, Trail..." Sparky imitated him, "we've moved out!"

"Really? Without your mommy and daddy?" Trail laughed.

We both took offense by that. No one has called our parents "mommy" or "daddy". And this time, Trail is beginning to go way too far.

"Yes," I told him. "And we'll have you know we've toughened ourselves up."

Sparky was surprised by what I said. "What?!"

Trail scoffed. "We'll see about that. Right after I give you two a big purple eye and bruises."

We were NOT ready for this. Trail Blazer was preparing himself.

"Saturn, what are we gonna do?!" Sparky whispered to me. "He's going to beat us up if we don't do something!"

"Uhh..." I tried to spot something we could flee ourselves from from that Trail. And just not a moment too soon, I found a wagon full of watermelons, with its door open. So by my calculations, if I could use my horn to open the door fully, the watermelons would tip out and crash into Trail.

"Come on!" Sparky panicked.

"Sparks," I told him, "I have an idea.

Trail was done preparing himself and walked over to us in an intimidating way.

"Are you ready?" Trail told us.

"Actually, yes we are," I said.

"No, we aren't— Whoa!" Sparky was interrupted when I grabbed him by his handkerchief and ran off.

Trail was angry than he had ever been. "Hey, get back here!" And he chased us.

We both ran as fast as we could to that wagon.

"Where are we going?" Sparky asked me.

"I know what I'm doing!" I told him.

Trail was catching up.

"Hurry!" he told me.

"Don't worry about me! Keep going!" I advised him

"What about you?!" he desperately asked.

"I'll take care of him!"

Just as we reached the wagon, Sparky kept on going, and I stopped by the door.

"Eat this, Trail Blazer!" I used my horn to open the door. Just as I did, watermelons spilled everywhere! They all managed to slow Trail down, just like I predicted.

"Agh!" Trail angrily cried. "Don't think this is over, Saturn and Sparky. I will find you."

"In your dreams," I told him in a singy-songy tone as I left him.

The pony in charge of that was mad at me. "What the heck, dude?!"

"This stallion was chasing me," I told him. "What did you want me to do, let him chase after me?"

"No, but not like this." He went over to the watermelon wagon and picked up the dropped watermelons.

Sparky was amazed by that. "Dude, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen you do! Except for the pony that was scolding you."

"I know, right?" I said to him. "Told ya I've toughened up."

"Does that even count?" he asked me.

"Beats me. But what matters is that he's gone. At least for now."

From here, finally, we continued our pathway down to our house in the outskirts of Ponyville.

After minutes of walking, we've arrived at our final destination. Our new house. It looked good on the outside.

"Well, here we are!" Sparky said. "Our new home."

We approached the door and opened it. It was unlocked, but we didn't pay any attention to it.

"Oh my god," I said. The house looked very unfinished on the inside. There was still wet paint on the walls and there was some floorboards missing.

"Did they not tell us it was unfinished?" Sparky said.

"They didn't even bother telling us!" I complained. "What kind of company doesn't tell you what's finished or unfinished?"

Sparky looked at me. "Don't ask me!"

We were extremely disappointed by the looks of the house. It literally showed us promise on the outside, but inside, it's not even worth it anymore!

"You think we should book a hotel?" Sparky asked me.

"If there is one," I said. So we both decided to leave.

We found a post office in the town. The reason we're there is because we had to send a letter to the realtor of the house. The letter was already written.

"I can't believe he didn't tell us it wasn't finished," Sparky said.

"I know," I told him.

It was our turn to send the letter. The gray pegasus in charge of the counter looked at us.

"Where do you want to send this?" she asked us.

"Manehattan. Pronto," I told her.

"Okie dokie!" She placed the letter inside a box shipped for Manehattan, just as we left the counter and the post office.

1:00 p.m.

The hotels in Ponyville weren't too compressed, but we wanted to find a hotel that's much comfortable for us to stay in until they do something about the house.

"We're finding a hotel now," Sparky said. "I am not sleeping outside in the cold, cold night."

After a couple minutes or so, we found a hotel that was just right for us.

"What about this one?" I asked him.

"Yep; that's the one," he answered.

We entered the hotel through the front door and into the main lobby. It looked very high-quality for such a sleepy town by the mountains. The lobby clerk was busy, but he had enough time to chat with us.

"Welcome to Equestrian Inn & Suites. What can I do for you today?" the lobby clerk asked us.

"We're here to book a room for two," Sparky told him.

"Two, huh? Well, we've got one more room on the top floor, if that's okay with you."

"We'll take it!" Sparky exclaimed.

The clerk gave us a key to room 304. "There you go, stallions. Enjoy your stay."

I took the key and Sparky and I walked to the stairs.

"Finally, a place to stay at!" Sparky muttered.

"Chill, man," I said to him, "we'll have it sorted out soon."

"That's what you think," he replied.

Just as we finished talking, we reached the top floor. We walked over to our room, which was this time, much better to stay at than the house. It looked exactly like an apartment, meaning there was one bed (which we didn't mind), a kitchen, a closet, chairs, a desk for us to study on, and a state-of-the-art bathroom. This hotel was so astounding.

"Oh, heck yes!" Sparky exclaimed, being relieved after so much traveling. He laid on the bed. "Saturn, you gotta lay on this bed! It's so comfy!"

I smiled, just as I also walked to the bed. "What activities do you want to do, now that we're here?"

There were more brochures on the desk, so I got up and took one.

The brochure read, "Here are some fun things you can do in Ponyville: play some games in the outdoor arcade, eat at the Sugarcube Corner, go bowling, watch a play at the Ponyville Theater, and look at the view of Ponyville from a distant mountain."

"What would you like to do first?" I asked Sparky.

"I like the first one," he said.

"The arcade?" I asked.

"Yep," he answered. "I need myself some entertainment."

I get his point. We were getting kinda bored during the train ride and walking around.

"Alright, let's go!" I called.

"Be right there!" Sparky was checking to make sure he was all good, so I waited for him outside the door. I had the key to the room, so don't worry, I wouldn't get ourselves locked out from our own room.

I waited and waited for about 5 minutes, when Sparky was finally done with his safety check.

"Ready up!" he said. And we both walked down to the first floor.

As we got down, we saw the realtor that offered us the house days ago. He seemed like he was waiting for someone. Then, he saw us. "Oi! Mr. Whites!"

We heard him call us and we went over to him. "What's up?"

"I received the letter you sent me."

I was shocked when he said that. Did the letter we sent him go straight to him that quickly?

"Oh! That," I said. "Yeah, we needed you to know about the house, because it looked rundown."

"Show me," he asked.

So Sparky, him, and I walked to the house we were staying at. We showed him the inside, which was still the same as before.

The realtor was surprised as well by what he's seeing. "Oh dear. I thought I told the maintenance team to renovate this ASAP. I don't think they did at all. Sorry, guys, let me ask them again." And he went outside by himself.

"So he is aware of our complaint?" Sparky asked me.

"Seems so. But why did he not tell us?" I said.

"Dunno."

The realtor was done with whatever he was doing and walked to us. "Sorry, guys, the letter I tried to send to them about fixing the house didn't get sent immediately. My apologies. We'll start work on this as soon as possible. In the meantime, have you guys already booked a hotel to stay at?"

"Yes, we did," I replied.

"Great. Now the next time I see you at the hotel, I'll call you, and walk you over to your house to give you a proper tour this time. Have a nice day!" He left us.

Sparky exhaled. "So, you ready to have some fun, Saturn?"

"You betcha, Sparks!" I said, just as we ran out in a dash.

Our first activity was to play at that outdoor arcade the brochure suggested. The games were hard to play, but we didn't care about winning. Next, we went to the Sugarcube Corner. While we waited in line, we spotted Pinkie Pie, that pink Earth pony again.

"Saturn, I think that's the pony we met earlier," Sparky whispered to me.

"What?" I looked out and saw that it was her again. I scoffed. "You've gotta be kidding me."

It was our turn to order. By the time we got to the counter, she recognized us almost immediately.

"Hey! Weren't you the two unicorns I met earlier today?" Pinkie said.

"Yes," Sparky and I said.

"Ooh! Welcome to Sugarcube Corner! Anyways, what can I get you started with this afternoon?"

The menu consisted of sweets, including cupcakes and cake.

"We'll just get a box of mint cupcakes for here, that's all." I gave her some of my bits.

"Okay, you're all set!" She rushed into the back.

It took around seven to eight minutes for our order to arrive.

"Anyone with a box of mint cupcakes?" she called out. That was us. I got up and got the mint cupcakes from Pinkie.

"Here you go, sir! Have a wonderful first day!" Wow, she really did care for us, even if we declined the offer of a welcome party.

"What'd she say to you?" Sparky questioned.

"She said, 'have a wonderful first day,'" I told him. "You know, I think she really does care a lot about us, even if we did ask not to have a welcome party here."

"You think that?" he asked.

I shrugged. But enough about that, we opened the box of mint cupcakes, which looked wonderfully appetizing. I took a bite of the first one. And oh my god, it was so sweet and delicious!

"Wow," I glanced. "Sounds like this pony is very talented at baking."

Sparky took a bite of the second cupcake. He liked it as well. "My, oh my, this is wonderful!"

We continued eating the cupcakes for 30 minutes, when it was time for our third activity of the day: bowling.

2:00 p.m.

We arrived at the bowling hall with our poor skills at bowling. We both checked in and got our own bowling lane. I was ready to beat Sparky's tail. But competition wasn't the answer. The answer was having fun. Here was one moment I loved the most.

Sparky got 9 pins down, both the first and second try. "Boom! Try beating that."

I snickered. I picked up the bowling ball and threw it down the lane, and strike! All 10 pins went down with a crash. Sparky was bewildered.

"Now you try beating that," I taunted him.

He scoffed, as I laughed.

2:40 p.m.

After the bowling, we continued exploring the town more. Especially heading near the Everfree Forest, but not that close. We checked out more places, like Sweet Apple Acres, the Castle of Friendship, Fluttershy's cottage, and the Carousel Boutique. No, we didn't see Trail Blazer, thankfully. Sparky talked to me about it.

"Hey, you ever noticed that Trail Blazer didn't even pick on us?" he reminded me.

"Now that you mention it," I said, "I do."

"Where do you think he is?" he wondered.

"Oh, I don't know. I bet he left to his 'mommy' and 'daddy'."

We both laughed to ourselves about it.

6:00 p.m.

And finally, we decided to go to Canterlot, just like I promised Sparky.

"Thanks, brother," he said gleefully.

"No problemo," I replied. I loved seeing him happy. It makes me happy too.

We went exploring around Canterlot, seeing new faces and such wonderful landmarks, including the Canterlot Tower, the School for Gifted Unicorns, and many others. But the one thing that is absolutely, without a doubt, the Canterlot Castle. It was nice seeing it in postcards and pictures, but seeing it up close made it ten times better!

"Magnificent," I gleamed.

"You know, Saturn?" Sparky said as he went over to me. "I really want to see the meteors from this place. It'll be beautiful."

I listened to him. The words, "I really want to see the meteors from this place. It'll be beautiful," really caught me. Whenever that meteor shower is coming, that is my gift to him.

6:30 p.m.

6:30 p.m. was the time for dinner. Our first one without our parents, sadly. The best (and fanciest) restaurant we could find was Night Train, a very unfitting name for a restaurant if you ask me. But the name was just a nitpick and didn't come close to ruining the okay experience inside that place. Sparky ordered a Thai cucumber salad? What in the world is a Thai? And I ordered some Duchess Potatoes. The food was great, but our charge? Not so much.

"Two-hundred and fifty bits for two platters?!" I yelled.

"Well, that's the cost," the waiter taking care of us explained. "Sorry, but I don't make the rules. The manager does."

I got so upset by that. "Fine!" I took out two-hundred and fifty bits out of my bag and placed it on the table furiously.

"Thanks, sir. Have a wonderful night," the waiter said as he left.

Sparky was also surprised by the cost. "I can't believe they'd charge you two-hundred and fifty bits for two dishes."

"Don't blame them," I said angrily. "There's a reason they call this a fancy restaurant, anyway."

"You're dang right," he said. So we both got up and left the restaurant.

10:00 p.m.

It was already 10:00 p.m. by the time we got back to Ponyville. The lamps were on, barely any pony was outside, and a few of the houses were already sleeping. It was quiet, compared to Manehattan, but that's what we loved here. At least there's not a lot of hustle and bustle.

We arrived back at our hotel and walked back to our room, tired of all the adventuring we had. After we finished brushing our teeth and prepping the bed, Sparky and I laid down and just stared into the ceiling. Then, Sparky began a conversation that made me think life all over again.

"Hey, Saturn?" he asked.

"Yes?" I said in a tired voice.

He exhaled before he said this. "I've never seen you with a mare here lately."

I got confused on what he was talking about. "What do you mean?"

"You know, as life goes on, you have to get married, have foals, and live your whole life until you kick the bucket," he explained.

Now I knew what he meant, but I wasn't sure how to say this. "You know, Sparks, can I tell you a secret?"

"What is it?" he said.

I exhaled. "I don't plan on getting married."

He was surprised. "Why?"

"Because think about it. There'll be so many stuff that'll happen once you get married. Like having arguments, having a lot of foals, and not a lot of relaxation," I explained to him. "And not to mention some complaints once you start working."

Sparky heard my explanation, but he chuckled in disbelief. "I'm sorry, but I think you're over exaggerating here, Saturn. Why? Just because all of that happens doesn't mean everything will go downhill immediately. You'll have lots of fun and more time to spend with your foals."

I listened. "Maybe you're right."

"Because I am," he said casually.

"Anyways, it's already late. Let's go to sleep. We've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow," I said before I turned off the light. "Good night, Sparks."

"Good night, Saturn."

Author's Note

Yes, I know that potatoes aren't the best thing to feed to a horse/pony, but come on, there have been some moments in the show where potatoes are a thing for consumption.
