The Massive Search

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Equestria. Across Various Areas. Day.

The search was on. Stallions and mares alike would spread all across Equestria to search for the six remaining Shards. A majority of Equestria would begin searching, hoping to aid Lena in her journey. Soon, Equestria was rapidly moving, using the Trackers to guide them.

Many split into groups to cover more ground, whether they be family or friends. Such as a Unicorn, a Pegasus and an Earth Pony. They were currently in a desert area, having their respective Pokemon cool them off from the heat. This desert was a bit off, having a nice texture to it that had a bluish tint. And yet, it was still hot despite the colours.

"This place is so hot." The Unicorn, a lavender-colored mare said. "Where are they?"

"It's a desert. What did you expect?" The Pegasus, a blue mare said.

"I expected it to be cooler than this." The Unicorn replied. "Look at all these colours..."

"I've never been to a desert before. It's quite the experience." The Earth Pony, a brown mare, smiled. She didn't seem bothered by it at all.

"Let's just keep looking." The Unicorn shrugged before trotting along.

"Right." The Pegasus nodded. "Come on, Swellow. Let's get a move on."

"Swellow!" The Pokemon chirped as it flew off, soaring above everyone else.

"Go, Aron." The Earth Pony said.

"Aron!" The Steel-Rock type cried out as it used Rock Smash, breaking a boulder to see if it could find something.

The two would then leave, leaving the Unicorn by herself as she was struggling to keep up. She was sweating bullets, panting heavily as she was having difficulty getting through the desert.

The same could be said for other locations different ponies tackled. In another location, a group of four were searching the mountains. One was a white earth pony, and the other was a light and dark blue pegasus.

"Man. These mountains are so big." A pink earth pony said.

"They're pretty too." A yellow pegasus added.

"I don't know. I'd prefer a beach more." The light and dark blue pegasus remarked.

"Oh, come on. How many times have we been to the beach?" The pink mare questioned.

"Not enough." The light and dark blue mare answered.

"Are you still going on about that?" The white mare rolled her eyes.

"I'm sorry, girls. I'm just a little frustrated." The light and dark blue mare sighed.

"I don't blame ya. I'm starting to get tired." The pink mare said, almost falling flat on her face, but managing to stay stable. They continued on their way, still searching for the shards.

Many were in different parts of the world. Not just Equestria, but other regions. Whether it'd be the beautiful beaches of Hoenn, the lush forests in Kalos, or even the vast sunny deserts in Alola. Each and every region was being explored by the citizens, searching for the shards. This was a team effort by Equestria. The first in many, many, many centuries.

The only time they all been this active in unison was when Equestria was first developed upon its discovery. But this was the second time in history that all of Equestria was working together.

As a bonus, this also put further pressure on Volo and Team Galactic to find the shards before everyone else. Now that such a huge population was focused on finding the last six shards, it would become increasingly harder for Volo to work. But for Lena, it became much easier. Currently, she and Team Rocket were at another city, sitting at a cafe. Lena was still dressed in this new look.

"Looks like it's working." Jessie smiled. "It's not hard to figure out why."

"I'm not sure. I'm not used to this." Lena tugged her dress, not feeling comfortable with it. "But I'm glad they're helping me with the search. It makes it easier."

"That's the spirit." Jessie winked. "Now, all we have to do is wait for them to report their findings. And once we do, we'll have the next location."

"Right." Lena nodded. "But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do while waiting."

"Enjoy yourself. There's a reason we came here, after all." Jessie said. "We're in a city. You should check out the sights. I'm sure there's a lot of interesting things to see."

"But I'm not sure if I can do that. I'm not used to this style." Lena frowned. "And I'm not exactly sure if I can walk in these shoes."

"Don't worry. We're here for you." Jessie assured her. "These two can always help you out. Right, boys?"

"It's way easier with Lena since we don't have to hear her hissing and yowling." James obviously took a jab at Jessie, which she did not appreciate.

"Why you...!" Jessie bared her fangs while grizzling her teeth. "Wish to repeat that, James?!"

"I would, but I value my life." James had a straight face, not reacting to Jessie's threat.

"Is it okay if I go and change back into my regular clothes? I feel a lot more comfortable in them." Lena asked, getting up right away.

"Eh?! You're changing?!" Jessie howled at such a thought. "But what about our advantage?!"

With that, Lena would head over to the dressing room to change her clothes. And while doing so, she had to wonder what Volo was doing right now. Since a majority of Equestria was now searching for the shards and by extension other regions, it was possible that he was planning something to counteract this.

She hoped that the Rangers would be able to find him before he does anything rash.

Speaking of which, the Pokemon Rangers were indeed on the lookout for both the shards and Volo, hoping to capture him. However, they were not the only ones. The International Police were also searching for him, knowing full well that he's a wanted criminal.

They were previously holding out on labelling him as a criminal, until the attack on Professor Rowan's Lab was exposed. The hidden camera that recorded the battle Volo had with the three starter Pokemon revealed that Volo was indeed a criminal now, breaking into the lab while it was meant to be shut down for the night and pursuing the Poison Shard.

When the footage was leaked, now they knew to really fear him as he was the one responsible for attacking the Professor's lab, leaving it a mess. From that point on, Volo was officially marked as a criminal.

The International Police had their eyes on him, and they were currently in Sinnoh, keeping an eye out for him. Currently, many were headed for the region that Volo may tackle next based on how many shards are left. Such regions involved the Kalos Region, the Galar Region and the Alola Region.

The shards were still within the possession of Lena and the Professors. As for the Fire Shard, it was still unknown. But it was confirmed to be somewhere in Alola.

Once they arrived, they would search for the shards, using the tracker to find their location. Once they did, they would send it to the Rangers who were already searching for the shards.

"You're positive that the shards are located here?" One of the officers asked, looking at the tracker.

"Positive. I've triple-checked the results. They're definitely here." Another officer replied.

"Then we'll need to locate them immediately. But we should also keep a watch out for Volo. He's bound to show up at some point. If those trackers go off to a large degree, you'll know when Volo is around."

"I'm on it." A third officer would run off, looking around the area.

"The rest of you, spread out. Start searching." The leader of the group commanded.

"Yes, sir." The other officers saluted before spreading out, beginning their search. After Professor Rowan invited that device that allows one to track down the shard, other smaller devices were made with less power but were still efficient and took way less time to make than the watch.

The Human World. Canterlot High.

Sci-Twi, after getting enough rest to tackle the day, would meet up with Ash and the others over at Canterlot High. The girls were the first ones to arrive, chatting amongst themselves. All six of them were speaking with their Human Counterparts while being Humans themselves now.

"Okay. Everyone's here, it looks like."" Ash would be the last to walk over, looking at them all. They were set to head out, but only some of them. The ones from Equestria were obviously prepared to do so while those who live in this world would stay behind, but for a good reason. "The rest of you're gonna stick around just to be sure if Volo maybe comes here, right?"

"There's a chance he might. That pendant Twilight is wearing is now too important for him to pass on." Rarity had a good point. After how the Arceus Pendant saved Sci-Twi's life, Volo was more interested in it than ever.

"So, we'll stay behind to keep an eye out for him." Rainbow Dash added. "If he tries anything, we'll stop him."

"Just make sure you call us if things get too out of hand." Sunset Shimmer suggested her friends. She would be going along with Ash's group to help aid them.

"Will do." Pinkie Pie nodded. "Besides, you'll do a better job than us. You're not just our counterparts, you've been at this Pokemon stuff for way longer. There's no way you can lose this one"

"Don't jinx it." Applejack nudged her.

"Don't jinx it." The Human Applejack nudged her.

"Okay...The watch is telling me that we can head to Kalos next and find another shard." Ash would tap on the watch, bringing up a hologram. It would show him the map of Kalos, having a massive indicator that told him where to go next. Kalos was the place to be. "We're gonna pick up the pace and beat Volo to it. No way we're letting him get another shard."

"And if we come across him, we'll nab the shards he already took from Twilight!" Rainbow Dash pumped her fist.

"Better not waste any time! Let's get rolling, you all!" Ash was the first to take off, not wanting to waste any more time. His friends would follow suit, running ahead.

"Hold on! Wait for me!" Twilight rushed to catch up to them. Soon, Sci-Twi would do the same, following her counterpart. Soon, they were all gone, making their way to the forest in the distance which would then lead them to a gateway that would send them straight to Unova. Afterwards, they would have to go to Kalos by transport.

"I hope they'll be okay..." Fluttershy put her hands together, praying for their safety and success.

"I'm sure they will. They'll be fine." Applejack assured her. "After all that, Twilight's feeling way better than ever. I'm sure she's itching to get back on the field. We're just gonna have to hope they find all those shards pretty soon."

Over at Kalos, up in the air, an aircraft would be seen flying through the skies. This was none other than the one that Volo and Team Galactic were in. It was the same one that Lena and Team Rocket were in. It was currently being piloted by Mars, who was steering the wheel, aiming to bring the ship to land.

"We're almost there. Hold on." Mars said.

"Good. I can't wait to see what this place has to offer." Volo said. "Based on how the Bracelet is reacting, we have another shard somewhere here. With only 6 Shards left, the ones we have to focus on gaining are the Normal, Electric, Grass, Dark, Fighting and Psychic Shards. Moving around is going to be a lot harder now that there are ponies across Equestria getting involved, but it is what it is."

"What are we going to do about that? About the fact that they're teaming up with the Pokemon Rangers and the International Police?" Saturn asked.

"We'll have to deal with it as it comes. But for now, let's focus on the task at hand. Those shards are the priority. And once we get them, the rest will fall into place." Volo assured the three of them.

"Right." Mars nodded. The Aircraft would begin descending on an expansive land, somewhere in the wilds of Kalos. The area in question was a mixture of an oasis and a desert. There was a large body of water, along with a patch of lush green trees. It was somewhere around Dahara City based on its appearance.

It was a beautiful sight, but the three of them were not here to admire the sights. They had a mission to accomplish. Once they arrived, Volo saw his bracelet shine a bit brighter. This was the area to be at right now. A bit scorching hot, especially at summer time, but it didn't bother them too much.

Saturn would stay behind to keep an eye on the aircraft while Mars, Jupiter and Volo would disembark and explore the area. Of course, they would do it with the assistance of their Pokemon. Volo had sent out his Gabite who had an advantage in this desert-like area, Mars had sent out her Bronzong while Jupiter summoned her own Bronzong as well.

Gabite began digging the sand while the two Bronzongs used their psychic powers to lift the sands and move it aside. By extension, this would disrupt some of the Pokemon living in this area, such as Hippopotas and Sandile.

"Hippopo!"

"Sandile!"

The Pokemon would appear, looking at the three humans. Some were curious, while others were slightly annoyed by their disturbance. But for the most part, they kept their distance from them.

Volo checked out his bracelet, seeing that the light was staying the same for the time being. He was not getting any closer to the shard, which meant that he was in the wrong spot. So, he would head back to the center, looking over at his Pokemon.

"Gabite. Dig further." Volo commanded.

"Bronzong. Lift the sand and search for anything that could be out of the ordinary." Mars instructed.

"You, too, Bronzong." Jupiter said.

The three Pokemon cooed and the trio obeyed, doing their best to assist their trainers. As the three continued their search, Volo would suddenly feel a strange energy in his bracelet, catching his attention.

"Hm?" Volo looked at his bracelet, seeing that the light was glowing a bit brighter. He would look over, heading towards a direction. As he walked, the light would grow even brighter, indicating that he was going the right way.

"Is that it?" Jupiter asked.

"I think it is." Volo nodded. "Come on. Let's keep moving."

"Right." Mars and Jupiter nodded. They would follow Volo, heading for the source of the light. As they continued on their way, the light would become brighter and brighter, the closer they got. Eventually, Volo would stop, the light reaching its maximum brightness.

"Here." Volo pointed at the ground. "The shard is located somewhere here. I can sense it. Perhaps Gabite will need a bit of a boost." He would hold out the Dragon Shard, intending to use it on his Gabite. But right as he planned to utilize them, a sound went off. A sound that resembled a siren.

In the distance, the Pokemon Rangers were heading for this area too, tracking down the shards as well. And by extension, they tracked down Volo's Dragon Shard and his Life Plates.

"The Pokemon Rangers!" Mars gasped, leaning back a bit.

"Hm. They showed up rather quickly." Volo raised an eyebrow, unbothered by their appearance. They were currently using vehicles to traverse the area, spotting Volo and his group in the distance. Team Galactic looked a bit worried while Volo was calm about it.

"Shouldn't we get out of here?!" Jupiter exclaimed.

"Not at all. I believe that I'll give them a gift. To let them know not to approach us ever again.

"Huh?! What're you talking about?!" Mars yelped.

"Something that will make them not want to pursue us." Volo's eyes glowed a bright blue, the Life Plates in his bag and the Dragon Shard reacting to his power. Volo unrestrained the Dragon Shard, letting its energy roam free once more, thus, reacting to the Life Plates.

Volo's hair would start rising, glowing a bit as he would then open his bag, letting the Life Plates drop to the ground. Once out, they and the Dragon Shard would react to one another, shaking the ground itself.

An overwhelmingly grand energy would rupture the ground, sending waves across it all. The shockwave was felt all the way to the Pokemon Rangers, halting them in their tracks.

"W-What's that?!" One of the Rangers exclaimed. witnessing an energy erupt from the ground. Deep within the ground where Gabite was currently digging, his body would be hit by the wave. But on purpose. The Dragon Energy entered Gabite's body as Volo intended, fusing with his body.

"Gabite...!!!" The Pokemon roared, its body engulfed with a powerful dragon-like aura. Once the transformation was complete, it would jump out, standing tall and proud. It had grown larger, and its fangs and claws became sharper. Gabite was gaining an intense boost from all of this since the Dragon Shard was resonating with the Life Plates.

Not only that, but all the energy that was coming from the shards and the Life Plates would mould together, causing the sands and the ground to open as Gabite hovered over the expanding disaster. All nearby Pokemon would run for it, knowing full well that something disastrous was about to happen. All sorts of Pokemon would scatter, trying to get away from the falling ground as it was opening up a huge hole. It would also whip up a ferocious sand tornado that would start ravaging the area while the ground kept opening up.

"They've labelled me as a Wanted Criminal." Volo said while watching the destruction unfold. "So, why not play that part?" He would then smirk as the disaster would force the Pokemon Ranges to run off, knowing it was far too dangerous to approach Volo right now.

Some Pokemon couldn't escape the rising disaster, causing them to be hit by the energy. And once their bodies were struck by it, they too would gain incredible boosts and even go through some changes.

"Looks like it's time to get ready." Volo would hold up his arm, seeing the bracelet glow a bright white. "I can't afford to waste any more time. If I'm able to get my hands on the six remaining shards, then I'll be one step closer to achieving my goal."

"And that is...?" Jupiter asked.

"To remake the world. A world that's better suited for everyone. Not this absolute mess that still has its flaws. To reach that truth of mine, I'll try to understand why Arceus chose to make the world this way. And with his help, I'll be able to reshape this world completely." Volo answered. "And I'll make sure to stop anyone who gets in the way. Whoever they may be."

"That almost sounds like Master Cyrus's goal..." Mars would silently say to herself as that strongly resembled Cyrus's goal. The Pokemon who were affected by the energy by being unable to escape it would start changing.

The Hippopotas and the Sandile would evolve into Hippowdon, taking on a much different appearance, and the Hippopotas would grow much larger. Their skin would turn a dark colors of all kinds and their eyes would change. The Sandile would transform into Krokorok, growing larger and having a much darker appearance. Some stayed the same sizes but still packed destructive capabilities. Some would gain surrogate versions of their evolutions.

Other Pokemon would be affected as well, such as the Graveler, the Cubone and the Carbink. Since the energy was a plethora of different types, their transformations were far more erratic and unstable in so many ways. Now, the Pokemon Rangers had to deal with these rampaging Pokemon as well, making their job even harder than it was at the moment.

As for Gabite, he had managed to find the shard hidden underneath now that the ground had been greatly opened up. It was none other than the Psychic Shard.

"Wonderful." Volo smiled once he saw Gabite holding up the Psychic Shard. It took this massive form of destruction just to find this one shard and Volo had no regrets. Now that he was working the way he wanted to without Sci-Twi, he could go all out and do whatever he wanted.

"Now, let's move on. We've already wasted enough time here." Volo said. "We'll have to get the other shards before the Pokemon Rangers do. They won't be able to catch up if they're too busy dealing with the wild Pokemon."

Meanwhile, Ash and his group had arrived at Kalos, taking a train while Ash focused on the watch. He saw that the indicator for the shards and Life Plates were going crazy, confirming one thing. Volo was using all of their power to do something wild, but this just meant they would have an easier time finding him. All they would have to do was find the destruction.

And it wouldn't taken long as in the far distance, Ash and the others would see the massive sand tornado, the sand and dust flying everywhere as well as the violent storm of Infinity Energy.

"Whoa, what's that?!" Rainbow Dash gasped.

"It's Volo." Twilight realized. "He must've used the shards and Life Plates to cause some sort of disaster."

"She's right. He's done it again." Ash narrowed his eyes, looking at the device. "And it looks like he's found another shard. But there's another one somewhere around Kalos he hasn't found yet."

"Do we go to Volo or the other shard?" Fluttershy wondered which would be the best decision. While they could figure out where Volo was, there was another shard out there in Kalos that he has yet to retrieve.

"Volo's probably already on the move again, so we're gonna have to beat him there. We'll go for the shard and then straight to Volo." Ash had already decided on the game plan.

This time, their confrontation would have nothing concealed by it. No lies or hesitations. Now that they knew what Volo was all about, they, especially Sci-Twi, could act with all their might, holding nothing back whatsoever.

With so many moving across Equestria and beyond, the parties involved in this search have drastically increased. Whether by size or strength. And now that the Psychic Shard has been found, only 5 remain as the journey continues.
