The Phoenix Arrives

Alola. A Lack of a Moon.

Twilight and Dayastra's intense showdown had continued as they were both locked in an aerial battle. Twilight was flying above the skies, the two ponies clashing in midair and colliding their spells, firing beams and bolts of energy.

They were moving from place to place in the sky, the air around them being filled with bright lights of various colours, mainly purple and orange. Both Princesses had the same set of spells for the most part, meaning despite the clear gap in magic strength, Twilight could use her knowledge of the spells she knows to her advantage. But so could Dayastra, which made this far harder. Twilight was flying while her alter-ego was keeping up, firing powerful blasts of magic.

However, Dayastra's magic was superior, making this harder for Twilight. A powerful array of spells went off, the two using the same moves and attacks. Twilight was surprised by the similarity, finding it almost impossible. She was a version of her and their magic was nearly the same.

Dayasatra's speed and precision were superior, however, and her magic was on a much higher level. Twilight had her fair share of battles and experiences, but her evil self had a lot more experience and training.

"Not good...but..." She kept moving, dodging and blocking her magical attacks. She was struggling but still did her best. "I can't hold back. If I don't do something, the world will be covered in darkness."

She had to think, using her knowledge to come up with a solution. The first thing was figuring out how they were similar and how they differed. They were alike in their magic, but also had differences.

Twilight deflected a beam, creating a forcefield and sending it back. However, Dayastra dispersed it easily and fired multiple beams at her, which she flew past, the beams striking the ocean. The ocean evaporated from these beams, the heat alone enough to make steam.

No matter what Twilight could not get hit by those blazing beams after what they previously did to Ash and Celestia. And that was just when Sunrise Sparkle did it. If Dayastra does it, the damage would be untold.

Twilight used her magic to flip through her mind, thinking of something rapidly. She searched for something that could be her advantage. There had to be something, no matter how small it was.

"Oh! That might work!" Twilight had an idea, using a spell. Her horn glowed as her body became intangible, allowing her to fly through solid objects. She was invisible and moved fast.

"Where are you?" Dayastra's eyes looked around, unable to find her. "Where?!"

Twilight was hiding in the air, floating and staying close to her. Dayastra kept looking and searching, trying to find her. She would fly around, firing her blasts of magic.

"You little...! Hiding is futile, Twilight Sparkle." Dayastra spoke. "Your magic won't do anything! I know you're too hesitant to get too close to me!"

Twilight didn't listen and focused on her spell, using her invisibility and intangibility. She had another idea, remembering a certain spell. She could use her intangibility and invisibility together, but only briefly. Twilight's tapped into some Rift Magic, the spell activating.

Her horn glowed, releasing a shockwave that would disrupt dimensional barriers. The area around her was affected, affecting Dayastra.

"Huh?!" Dayastra was suddenly made visible, her body flashing and glitching. "What is this?!" She said. Twilight took advantage of this, using her magic to disrupt Dayastra's form.

"Y-You...!" Dayastra resisted, using her magic to fight against Twilight's.

"You may have a lot of what I have, but you still don't have Rift Magic!" Twilight focused, pushing her magic. It was working as Dayastra's body was breaking apart, her form being split between dimensions. This was the one advantage Twilight had and that was possessing Rift Magic within her. "If I can end your fusion, I'll have a chance at defeating you!" Twilight declared, aiming to split all those unicorns and Sunrise a part so that she would have a fighting chance. Dayastra was far too strong for her.

"Ghh...! Gaaaah!" Dayastra screeched at this feeling, her body splitting up, her eyes glowing bright. The sight of her almost reverting to normal was shown by how her tall body was being ripped in two, the bodies of all those ponies peeking out. "You'll pay for this!" However, Dayastra wasn't without her own spell to counter this.

Dayastra would cast a spell that would fuse her body back together. It was like a rejuvenation spell, a healing one. However, it was stronger and would merge her body parts together. "You...!" Dayastra angrily said, her pupils sharpening while looking at Twilight. How could she give her this much trouble in this state? It didn't make sense to Dayastra and it frustrated her.

"Ehehe..." Twilight had a nervous chuckle on her face while also being a smug one, knowing she was playing her cards right against Dayastrra. Twilight decided to do another spell to distract her and buy time for the others. However, she was soon attacked by one of Dayastra's greater spells.

By shooting her mag into the clouds, Dayastra created a massive raincloud over her opponent, creating a Flame Shower. It rained a special rain. Rain mixed with scorching flames.

"!" Twilight looked above, seeing this shower descend upon her and frying the land. Twilight had to avoid this shower as the flames were affecting all the other clouds, creating a large blanket of flame raining down.

Poor Twilight was dealing with Dayastra on her own while everyone else were in groups and teams, having each other as support. But even when alone, Twilight could still manage herself, but for how long?

The disasters that were moving across Alola were instantly being dealt with by Rayquaza and Lugia. At least, they were trying to prevent them. With a lack of a Moon, it was affecting the balance of nature and the tides of the seas.

Despite being two Pokemon so connected to the sky, this was one disaster that they struggled to overcome since they still needed the Moon. But with no Moon, Even Lugia and Rayquaza couldn't do much. The world was slowly coming apart at the seams, the planet's stability weakening.

"W-We can't move like this, Celaeno commented as she and her crew were going through it. Their ship was being punished by these unstable winds. At this rate, they'll lose this newly obtained ship Capper lent to them and it would all be for nothing.

But it was only going to get worse from here. The Supernova was still building up, being loaded and ready to go. If used once more, everyone here, minus the humans, would lose the strength to retaliate, making this an easy victory for them. But at this moment, in the Solar Sword, there were those attempting to stop that before it could potentially go off.

"The Supernova is ready, Your Majesty." A pony said. Daybreaker smiled, glad that this moment had come.

"Excellent. Let's shut them all down at once. Activate it!" Wasting no tie, Daybreaker ordered the activation of the Supernova.

"Yes, ma'am." With the order, all controls to activate the Supernova were activated. The entire ship was shaking, the core within the center of the ship was glowing brightly. A solar light began radiating from it, the light growing brighter and brighter.

All those forms of energy were boiling from within, ready to be released. The Solar Empire waited patiently for their seemingly assured victory, with Daybreaker sitting casually. However, that's when it happened. The Supernova would cease its buildup, instead, its levels decreasing.

"What?" Daybreaker's eyes widened, her expression turning into a scowl. "What's going on?!"

"It's the Supernova, Your Majesty. It's not activating."

"Not activating!"

"We're not sure, but the Supernova is not responding. We can't activate it." The ponies weren't understanding it just yet until they started surveying the ship via the cameras.

"Look!" One pony spotted the reason for this. She turned everyone's attention to a room where Sophocles, Lana and Kiawe were. And the one responsible for this was Sophocles, who was messing around with the controls. Since he was getting a good grasp of the Solar Sword's functions, he was not only sabotaging parts of the ship but also the Supernova itself.

"Hehehee!" Sophocles was also having a blast messing with the Slar Sword. So much new technology for him to interact with. He was having a field day. And now, the rest of this fiddling was felt everywhere else. The Solar Sword started rocking, its movements being disrupted.

Equestria's Forces and the fleet of the Solar Empire watched as the Solar Sword was randomly moving, the ship's movements becoming erratic. Some had to move out of the way to avoid being hit by these erratic movements.

"Uh, Captain! What's going on?!" A member of Captian Spitfire's fleet tried contacting her, only to get nothing.

"Captain Spitfire, are you there?" Another member asked, needing a response.

"Captain, can you hear us?!"

But she couldn't She had been knocked out after the battle with Zeraora, unable to respond for a moment. Xurkitree was the same, passed out on the floor.

"Ugh..." Rainbow Dash was awake, groaning and barely able to move. She had no idea what was going on, but the ship was beginning to collapse. "Zeraora!" She was concerned about her Pokemon, crawling to her.

"Oraa...Ze...ra..."

"Hang in there." Rainbow Dash said, putting a hoof on her. She was weak, and so was her Pokemon. They both were tired, worn out from that intense battle. "We gotta get out of here."

Before they could move any further, someone had entered this room, a loud noise being made from just a simple footstep. They believed it to be another member of the Solar Empire, here to attack them at their most vulnerable. Luckily, that was not the case.

Instead, it was Terrakion.

"You two alright?" He asked, helping the two up.

"Terrakion..." Rainbow Dash said with a wide smile before being picked up by Terrakion.

"I'll get you two out of here. I have a feeling it won't be safe to be on this ship anymore. Not that it was safe in the first place." Terrakion would carry the two, taking them out of the room and through the corridor.

"Thanks, buddy." Rainbow Dash thanked the Pokemon, grateful for his assistance. Terrakio used his amazing strength to barge through the walls and doors of the ship, creating a path for them.

Anyone that stood in Terrakion's way couldn't even budge him thanks to his durability and sheer strength. All that power combined with his raw, physical might was a force to be reckoned with.

As for the other Sword of Justice, Virizion, she was still with Fluttershy, advancing across the Solar Sword. In the case of Virizion, Fluttershy was able to get around much faster, being on Virizion's back and having her swiftly dash across the ship.

They had a lot of ground to cover, but thankfully, the Solar Empire was preoccupied with other matters. That didn't mean they couldn't run into a few problems along the way.

At that moment, Virizion came to a halt, sensing great danger up ahead. "Wait." She spoke, stopping Fluttershy.

"What's wrong?"

"Up ahead..." Virizion narrowed her eyes, her ears perked up. She was sensing something and so was Fluttershy, the Fairy Magic within her flaring. "This feeling."

Virizion could sense that this presence was something of great importance and absolutely devastating. And there was only one individual who could fit that description.

"T-That's..."

Stepping forward was Daybreaker, who had left her throne room, which was not that far from here. Her regalia and armour clanked as she stood there, her flaming mane swaying and lighting up the room.

"Fluttershy, it's her!" Virizion's tail stood straight up, her muscles tightening.

"Daybreaker..." Fluttershy uttered with a gasp. Daybreaker was currently on her way to deal with Sophocles and his interference. Because of him, the Supernova could not properly function and the ship was moving frantically, which was a distraction for the rest of the Solar Empire's Forces.

"Move aside. Unless you wish to be scorched." Daybreaker threatened, her eyes shining with a powerful glow.

"I didn't think I'd be the first to find you. I would've preferred all four of us to have encountered you and put an end to this." Virizion uttered. "But I can still try. Daybreaker. Stop all of this at once."

"Right now of all times? Do you expect me to stop, after everything that has been done? Ridiculous. I'll never understand why you all are so dedicated to changing another's decisions."

"Please!" Fluttershy exclaimed, speaking up. "There has to be another way to make Necrozma feel better than this! There's no need for all this!"

"I already explained to others that there is no other way." Daybreaker groaned, hearing this already. "This is the only way and that's final. You care for Pokemon just as much as animals, don't you, Fluttershy? Then you understand that there are some decisions that must be made no matter how harsh it is. For the sake of Necrozma and my sister, I must do this."

"I-I do..." Fluttershy scrunched her face, lowering her head. "But...you're hurting so many people and Pokemon. It's just not right."

"You've already had Necrozma absorb the Moon. What happens when he truly absorbs the entire Universe? Will you be able to control him? If he reaches his true self, what's stopping him from absorbing your Universe and everything else?" Virizion questioned.

"Necrozma is past that! We've grown our bond to new heights due to these recent events. And when he fully absorbs the Universe, we can finally restore him. He won't ever feel pain and suffering anymore. My mission will be complete by then and I will soon reach the top of power, where I can bring Luna back without a doubt."

"But there has to be another way to solve both of these!" Fluttershy was still down for another option. Any option. "I can't believe you'd change everything just for this...What about everyone else you cared about? What about Phiolmena?"

"Philomena? What about her? She's doing well." Daybreaker smirked. "In fact, she's doing better than ever. Would you like to see her?" Daybreaker would suddenly take off her crown and hold it. "I'll show you. Philomena."

The gem in the middle of the crown would suddenly glint, a blazing flare caused Virizion and Fluttershy to close their eyes. From it, the sound of something cawing went off in this vast room.

With wings as as large as a jet, a spectacular bird emerged, releasing a majestic cry. It was her. Philomena, but greatly different from before. No longer was she the small phoenix she was known for. Now, she was larger than ever, her size almost taking up the entire vast space of this room within the Solar Sword. Fluttershy looked up to see the Phoenix, the bird spreading her massive wings.

"P-Philomena..." Fluttershy had never seen a phoenix this massive in her entire life.

"This is her new form, a result of my change. My resolve resonated with Philomena and she's undergone her own improvement. Now, her resolve is just as strong as mine and we are still close even to this day, as you can see. Isn't she magnificent?"

"We have no choice, Fluttershy." Virizion said to Fluttershy, knowing what was coming next. "The best thing to do is to distance ourselves from her. She won't listen to us or anyone else."

"You two aren't going anywhere. Not with Philomena active. I'll crush that human messing with my ship and everyone else. Philomena! Move to your heart's content!" Daybreaker commanded.

The giant Phoenix would flap her wings, a mighty gust blowing and pushing against the two. She would fly upward, flying to the top of the ceiling as she prepared to charge through the rooms of the ship, causing as much chaos as possible.

"No, wait! Don't!" Fluttershy called out, worried. But Philomena wouldn't listen, not at this point. Virizion dashed off as Philomena pursued her and Fluttershy, flying towards the floor above, breaking through the ceiling.

Philomena, even for her current size, was still fast being able to fly through the many rooms within the ship and cause a lot of damage. She was burning everything with her intense flame. Virizion was sure to be careful in making sure no one innocent would be harmed, moving in places she's already traversed.

However, he would not be careful around the Solar Empire's troops, having Philomena fly past them, knocking them out and sending them into walls. Some were even sent crashing through the walls.

"Gyaahh!" A pony cried as she was slammed into a wall by the Phoenix, being knocked out. Philomena had her sights set on Virizion and Fluttershy, who was riding on her. But charging forward wasn't all that Philomena could do. As she cawed, she released a stream of flames from her mouth, aiming to incinerate the two.

Virizion gasped, using her speed and reflexes to move out of the way. Fluttershy, who was holding on for dear life, gripped the green deer's neck as she moved and dashed, avoiding the flames.

Virizion had to jump up, using the momentum to leap and land on a higher floor, which would buy her a little more time. "If she continues, she could bring all of us down with the ship!" Fluttershy cried out. "Do we battle her?!"

"For someone like me, taking on such Fire is just asking for trouble. But I know he'll gladly stop her." Virizion referred to a fellow sword who could take on Philomena. It was not Cobalion and it wasn't Terrakion who would be a good fit. Instead, it was the other sword who appeared from the corner.

Keldeo.

Using Hydro Pump, he shot out a powerful stream of water from his hooves. The water collided with the stream of flames, the two streams being locked in a stalemate.

"Ah! Keldeo!" Fluttershy spotted the younger member of the Swords of Justice. He was able to arrive just in time and help them. He smiled back at them before looking at Philomena, deciding to be the one to stop her.

"Keldeo! The throne room shouldn't be too far from here! That should be where all the major controls are! If you get there and destroy that room, it would completely shut down the ship!" Virizion exclaimed.

"I just have to get past her, right? Okay, I'll do my best!" Keldeo responded, keeping up his stream of water. "I'll do it!"

"I and the other swords will be sure to reunite with you later!" Virizion would rush off once more, needing to get Fluttershy somewhere safe for the time being.

Daybreaker was still on her way to Sophocoles's location, moving down the corridors. She passed by many of her downed soldiers, surrounded by broken machines, armour and weapons.

She sighed, seeing all the damage. But to Daybreaker, she still had a clear path to victory since Solgaleo was the last one left. As long as Solgaleo is absorbed, victory was guaranteed in her eyes.

Up ahead, she could see the room Sophocles was in, using her magic to look through the walls. Once she got to the room, she would use her horn to blast through the wall, creating a hole.

The blast startled Sophocles, Lana and Kiawe, turning their attention to the new entry. The smoke showed a blazing form and from it, Daybreaker's eyes peered through the smoke.

"Daybreaker!" The three of them exclaimed, not expecting her to be here.

"You." Daybreaker said to Sophocles with a deep voice. Turtonator and Primarina stood in front of their trainers, ready to defend. Joining them was Togedemaru who stood on top of Turtonator's head.

"I-If it isn't an issue, I need a bit more time!" Sophocles pleaded to his friends. "I think I can really do something more here!"

"You won't get that time." Daybreaker declared, holding her breath in. The three readied themselves, waiting for their trainer's commands.

"Turtonator! Use Flamethrower!"

"Primarina! Sparkling Aria!"

"Turto!"

"Prima!" A wave of fire and a sphere of water were blasted, aiming for Daybreaker. With just a simple puff, the fiery alicorn would breath out flames of her own, cancelling out the fire and water. Togedemaru tried stopping it with Spiky Shield, curling up and extending the spikes within her body.

Daybreaker would breathe out a stronger flame, the force pushing against Togedemaru and overcoming the defensive move. "T-Togede!"

"Togedemaru!" Sophocles cried. The flames pressed on, hitting Turtonator and Primarina, blasting the two back. The explosion went across the room, causing a ripple that made Lana fall over, only for Kiawe to catch her, but he almost lost his balance too. Their Pokemon were staggered by the blast, barely able to move.

"Ugh...!" Kiawe and Lana were struggling, but they weren't the only ones. Togedemaru was struggling to get back on her feet. She was trembling, and so were the others. Daybreaker then raised her hoof, stomping on the floor and summoning a consecutive eruption of flaming pillars.

Turtonator tried stopping this by shooting a powerful flame of his own, but he was not strong enough to cancel it out. Thus, he was sent flying into the air, hitting the ceiling of this room. Primarina couldn't even put out these flames. They were far too hot, even for her.

"P-Prima!" All three of them had been easily pushed aside. And Daybreaker wasn't even trying her hardest yet. Soon, the pillars started approaching the Traines, attempting to consume them. They had no way of defending themselves as Kiawe held onto Lana for afety while Sophocles clinged onto the machine.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" That is until a voice broke through the room, followed by a familiar sound.

"Pika...Chuuu!" 100 Volts came crashing in, striking the pillars and blowing them up. The trio looked to the door, seeing their friend

"Ash!" They exclaimed with a smile and great relief that he was here.

"You guys alright?!" Ash jumped into the room with Cobalion and Pikachu.

"I-I'm fine," Sophocles replied, rubbing his head.

"We're good too, don't worry," Kiawe responded.

"Ash Ketchum." Daybreaker addressed him. At last, the two of them meet for a second time and potentially the last time. As Kiawe and the others returned their Pokemon for safety, Ash looked at Daybreaker, the two locking eyes.

"Daybreaker," Ash spoke to her. "I thought I'd run into you in that main room, but I followed your Aura to wherever it was headed."

"Hm. Of course, you did. You were always going to find me thanks to that Aura of yours. Right Next to Celestia, you're the one individual who is a threat to my plans. Your friends are merely just obstacles that know who to stay around like gnats. You on the other are a genuine problem."

"You guys! Head out of here!" Ash said to his friends, wanting them to be away from what was coming next

"Are you sure?" Sophocles asked.

"Yeah, we can help you!" Lana added.

"Thanks, but we got this." Ash grinned, giving them a thumbs up. "You guys can do more in other places away from Daybreaker. Everyone else will have your back. Just leave this to me and the others. We'll get things handled from here."

"Alright. We'll try not to let you down." Kiawe nodded, leading the others out.

"Be careful, Ash!" Lana bellowed, the four running out.

"Will do." Ash watched them leave. Once they were gone, he would look back at Daybreaker, his expression changing to a more serious tone. "Now. We can settle this."

It would be Ash and Cobalion against Daybreaker. As the world raged with disasters thanks to the Moon's disappearance, everything was on the line. Solgaleo's safety. The safety of the Sun, the Earth and the Universe in general. Time was ticking for the Planet and those doing their best to save it as the journey continues.
