Three-Marked Pokemon

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Equestria. Ponyville. Afternoon.

Across all of Equestria, Pokemon were gaining Cutie Marks. The Antibodies, after arriving here, decided to run through some tests all thanks to Stella Bloom's Cutie Mark. And such tests involve the existence of Pokemon receiving Cutie Marks of their own.

Within Ponyville, a wild Meowth was casually walking through the streets. Suddenly, a glow surrounded its body, a bright light that would soon die down. The glow vanished and with it, the Meowth looked down at its own body, finding that something was attached to its forehead. It was a small, oval-shaped mark that was grey with the bottom part coloured purple and had an oval-shaped black dot with a white centre and a white heart-shaped spot on its side.

It was a Cutie Mark.

One by one, Pokemon were being given Cutie Marks of their own, some resembling others since there were so many Pokemon. The Trainers themselves witnessed this as their own Pokemon started showing off their own marks, each of them having a special Cutie Mark relating to them.

"Oh!" Berry Punch jerked back upon seeing her Skovet's mark, the sight of it catching her off guard. All of them were caught off guard. Mayor Mare's Stoutland found himself receiving a mark in a flash and so did her Honchkrow, both staring at the marks, not believing what they were seeing.

Roseluck's Roserade, Amethyst Star's Skitty, Derpy's Wooper and so on. No one was left out. In Sweet Apple Acre, while Applejack was working hard as always, her Sceptile, Kangaskhan, Golurk and all 11 Golett were unaware of the marks they had received, and would show Applejack as they walked out from the barn.

"Woah! You're all wearing...Cutie Marks...?"

All the Pokemon showed off their marks, all of them different and unique.

"Well, would you look at that! Each one of ya have gotten their own Cutie Mark. Well, that's not too bad now. But I ain't sure how long it's gonna last. Probably some other shenanigans going on out there that's doing this. What do you think, Sceptile?"

"Tile..." Sceptile was too busy examining the mark, looking at his forearm where it was. A green leaf shaped like a blade mark was attached to his arm. He was in awe at the sight of his own mark, wondering what this meant.

Over at SugarCube Corner, Pinkie's Mew took a gander at his Cutie Mark. And for a Pokemon as special as Mew, his mark had the appearance of a pink heart with a swirl of colours in the middle, all of it surrounding the shape of a Mew.

"Mew" Mew was so excited as Pinkie Pie applauded her partner's mark, even if she had no idea what was going on. "Mew!" He kept jumping up and down, cheering at his mark, his little tail wiggling.

"I love your new Cutie Mark!" She said to him. "I don't know what's going on, but I love it! So many Pokemon with their own Cutie Marks, that's so cool! I know what this calls for...Celebration! I'll invite as many as I can"

"Mew-Mew!"

Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash and her Pokemon were hanging out and were shocked when they discovered their own Cutie Marks. They were in awe as the marks appeared before them. For Braviary, his mark looked like a lighting-covered beak. For Altaria, it was a beautiful pair of cloud-like wings with a music note on her chest.

As for Castform, Whirlipede, Mienshao, Zeraora, Luxray and Zeraora, their marks followed a similar motif, each one with a symbol of the Weather in some way, the symbol appearing in their respective colours. A pair of pincers, cloud, crossed fists, lightning, and an open eye were the main pulls of their respective marks.

"What's this about?! Since when could Pokemon gain Cutie Marks?!" Rainbow Dash questioned, flabbergasted. "And they look awesome, too!"

And of course, immediately looking into this was Twilight, who witnessed how her Espeon gained a Cutie Mark that looked somewhat similar to her own. The same sparkle symbol, but with six suns surrounding it.

"Oh...This can't be good." Twilight blinked in astonishment.

"Esp." Esepon let out a few mews, purring in delight as she was enjoying this while Twilight was worried. But before Twilight could panic about this, teleporting into her home was Princess Celestia. The Ruler of Equestria knew her student well, knowing that she would go ballistic and fear the worst, so she came to reassure her that things were fine, or rather, they will be fine.

"Princess! Celestia, what's going on?! All these Pokemon have suddenly gained these Cutie Marks, and my Eve just received one. Is it bad?! Why's this happening?!"

"Twilight." Celestia put her wing over her back. "Everything will be alright. This is just temporary."

"Temporary? What do you mean temporary? I've never seen or heard of any Pokemon receiving a Cutie Mark before, so what's causing this? I thought I had to deal with a possible disaster?"

"Antibodies." Celestia answered. "To make a long story short, due to Stella Bloom's unique Cutie Mark, Antibodies have arrived to try and balance things out for the magical landscape. It won't last long and the Cutie Marks are a part of that test."

"Oh...I see. And these Antibodies are safe, right?"

"Wel for the time being. We're lucky that they chose a less destructive path, but I have a feeling that we're dealing with someone who will try to find the most efficient path."

"So what does this mean for all the Pokemon? Now that they have Cutie Marks temporarily...what's going to happen? Will they keep the Cutie Marks, or is it only a test, a temporary thing like you mentioned?"

"Yes. These marks will be gone once they finish their work, so there is no need to worry. For now, at least. We will have to wait and see how their work will turn out, but at the very least, the balance is maintained. We wouldn't want magic itself being absolutely ruined for the foreseeable future."

"I understand. Just gave me a scare. I was afraid something terrible was about to happen." Twilight laughed nervously, her heart steadying its beating. For now, she could rest easy. But what was most important is what these Cutie Marks would lead the Pokemon to do. That is what truly mattered.

Sizzling Range.

Elsewhere in a place known as the Sizzling Range, located in the hotter spots of Equestria, the heat was sweltering here. Not a single cloud was in the sky and the sun was shining down. It was a barren wasteland, filled with volcanic rocks and hot geysers that would burst every so often.

But this place had been uninhabitable for a long time. However, the Pokemon filled it up during these past 4 years, mainly Fire-Types. Many species made their home here, and the place has become more and more vibrant as Pokemon began to live here.

Just like everywhere else in Equestria, these Pokemon were gaining their Cutie Marks. However, unlike most, a great development was happening with one of the Pokemon. Specifically, an Infernape living here.

"Infernape...!" His Cutie Mark started vibrating and so did his head. The Flame Pokemon held onto his head, groaning and grunting. Something unique was happening to Infernape that all the other Pokemon noticed here. As he kept on grunting, his eyes would glow as the usual words he had were starting to change. "In...Infer...! Ow!" All of a sudden, he started speaking differently.

He was speaking clearly.

"My head..." Infernape groaned at this feeling, his entire body was starting to feel odd. Infernape soon realized that his way of speaking had changed. Just like how Team Rocket's Meowth speaks, he could actually speak like humans, ponies, and other species in Equestria that aren't Pokemon. It wasn't any usage of telepathy like how most Legendaries and Mythicals do, but actual speech that Trainers use. "Huh?

This caught the other Pokemon off guard. Did they hear that correctly? Could this be an ability they didn't know existed? They watched Infernape speak clearly, something they've never seen before. "Oh, I can speak like this now..." He poked his own mouth.

Thanks to his Cutie Mark, which was located on his arm, he gained this level of speech, something that was quite shocking to the others here. It wasn't just Infernape who was able to speak, all the other Pokemon around were trying to talk to, but failed to do so. But for now, the Pokemon here had their focus on Infernape.

Infernape, realizing he could talk, meant that his intellect had elevated to new levels. And due to this, new ideas sprung in his head, ideas that were grand. He would look across the land, at all the Pokemon and the hot geysers bursting up, ascending to the skies above, a plan starting to form. This Infernape had greater aspirations now. Most Infernape wish to get stronger, always improving themselves, but this one Infernape would take a different route. All thanks to that Cutie Mark.

But he wasn't the only one. Somewhere up north, on the far colder areas of Equestria near the Crystal Empire, the Frozen North was a place not many were willing to travel to. There was nothing much but cold, harsh weather. Snow, sleet, hail, and wind would be the main culprits to deal with.

This mountain had been empty for the longest time, a frozen wasteland with the highest point being the summit, which is where the Ice Rock was, the sole source of heat for miles.

This was a place where a wild Abomasnow would reside, along with other Ice and Water-Type Pokemon. And as the Antibodies worked their magic across Equestria, they were affected too.

The Antibodies were working their magic, altering the environment to make more Ice and Water-Type moves become a Natural Force. Much like the others, a powerful energy would manifest. With that being done, Abomasnow and all the Pokemon here would be granted temporary Cutie Marks.

"Abo...masnow?!" But like Infernape, the Pokemon would get a greater effect, the main being their intellect and the ability to speak. Abomasnow gripped his head, feeling his intellect elevate to new heights. His body was radiating with a cold and intense chill, his eyes glowing with a white and blue aura as he spoke. "Hooh...What a rush to the head."

Once he was done, the Ice-type Pokemon looked over himself, the sight of his own cutie mark surprising him, the mark found on his back which he could just barely see. His Cutie Mark resembled his head, having three pinecones at the bottom, three berries at the top and three flowers on the left. "Hm?"

And just like Infernape, ideas were hatching in his head. And like the Fire-Type, the Ice-Type would have aspirations of his own. His vision was on the mountaintop.

Ponyville. Sweet Apple Acres.

Back to Ponyville, Applejack's Delta Lucario was feeling the same thing. He already got his Cutie Mark on his chest, but he would end up receiving more than that. The Anubis Pokemon growled, holding onto his head as he sat under a tree, trying to figure out why his head was aching. "Lu...!"

His body felt a cold chillall of a sudden, which is very odd. Lucario doesn't usually feel cold, so why is this happening? "Rrr...Luca..." He growled for a moment before suddenly speaking on a different level. "What is this...?"

"...Hm?" Applejack's ears perked upon hearing that, turning her head. She heard something just now, a voice she's never heard before. Did something happen? She walked over to where Lucario was and noticed him speaking clearly. "Lucario...You alright there, partner?"

"I don't know.." He replied, catching the Earth Pony off guard.

"Aaagh!" Applejack bellowed, stunned by what her ears had picked upon. Her ears did not deceive her. Lucario replied with a clear level of speech and he didn't even need to use Aura to communicate with her this time. "What in tarnation is this?!"

"My voice..." Delta Lucario stood up, looking at himself. "W-What is this?! Where did this come from?!"

"Uh..G-Granny...Big Mac!" Applejack called for her family members, running inside the barn where they were working. "Big Mac! Granny! Something's up with Lucario! He's talking and...and he sounds really cool, actually."

"If you wanna figure that out, why ask us?" Granny Smith replied. "Shouldn't ya head to Twilight for somethin' like this?" She raised a good point. What were Granny and Big Mac supposed to do? For this, going to Twilight was always the first option.

"R-Right!" Applejack hit her head, almost forgetting the simplest things due to how off guard she was. "Sorry! Come on, Lucario!"

Twilight's Castle.

A few minutes passed and already, Applejack was caught up to speed with what was happening. The Antibodies, Stella Bloom and the emergence of the Cutie Marks on Pokemon. That all was given to her easily. But as for why Delta Lucario was speaking was a total mystery.

"So, he just started talking out of nowhere. Just like that?" Twilight questioned.

"Y-Yeah. Caught me off guard..." Applejack said. "Not sure if this is some special thing with Delta Lucarios or somethin' like that."

"I don't think that's the case. Usually, all Lucarios communicate the same way to their Trainers or anyone else. Using their Aura. But this is far different. Looks to me that the Cutie Mark is responsible."

"The Cutie Mark, eh...?" Applejack slowly nodded.

"Not sure how or why it's giving Lucario the ability to speak at this level...but I wouldn't worry about it too much. It doesn't seem like a major deal." Twilight was technically right. Delta Lucario talking, while surprising, was largely harmless. "What's more important is Stella Bloom since this is all centred around her. I have no idea what she'll do in this scenario but... we'll have to wait and see. For now, we're living with Pokemon with Cutie Marks. As surprising as it is, I'd say it could be nice for a while."

"Guess so..." Applejack let out a relieved sigh.

"Anyways. Pinkie Pie's about to throw a party for all the Pokemon gaining their Cutie Marks. I'd say we at least give it a visit. And hey, who knows how Ash will react to this once he sees it?" Twilight chuckled while walking off. For the time being, everything was steady.

Canterlot. Canterlot Castle.

At Canterlot, Celestia was watching this unfold, observing the situation. The Princess was currently standing atop her balcony, overlooking Equestria. It had become quite lively and interesting ever since the first wave of the Antibodies came, the world itself changing in a way.

She had no idea what would happen next, but the most she can do is wait. But while waiting, she would take a look at her own Pokemon to see what marks they've gained. First was Passion, who much like Twilight's Espeon, had a Cutie Mark that was similar to Celestia's. A yellow sun with ten pink sparkles around it.

Resting at the Canterlot Gardens for the afternoon was Reshira, who's Cutie Mark ended up being a great fireball with a white ring around it. Arcanine, who was currently playing with Philomena had a mark that looked like a flame, much like his own fur, but had the shape of a dog's face in the middle.

Celestia's Kommo-o had a mark that resembled two claws that were clashing against each other as Dragon Energy was in the middle, forming a circle. Quite the charming sight to see all of their Cutie Marks. Now she was curious about the Cutie Marks of her closest friends. Luna was currently training elsewhere right now, Celestia wouldn't have the chance to see what her Pokemon had, but she imagined they would be interesting to look at.

As the Late Afternoon Sun was slowly descending, today was coming to an end, slowly making way for tomorrow, when the Antibodies would continue their tests.

Day.

The following day was a bit hectic as the world was still adapting to this change, but things were relatively calm. Pokemon were now running around with access to all the magic in Equestria. Every spell in the book was now available to them. Pokemon could do a lot more than what they could originally do.

Granted, most of the spells were similar to things they could do if they were a certain species of a certain type, but now, they could do anything. Normal-Types could easily levitate themselves or objects with the spells at their disposal. Fairy, Psychic, Dark and Ghost-Types could still do what they usually do. Create illusions and things like that, but with Equestrian Magic, they had alternate options. For the most part, these were the four types that were already in possession of vast array of things that the Equestrian Spells also have.

Some Pokemon used the various spells to either change their size, cleanse themselves of any dirt with ease, building small things with telekinesis, etc. Most were really doing it for the sake of convenience. In a sense, Quality of Life.

"Hm. Well, they're getting used to it rather well, aren't they?" Mayor Mare commented while looking at all these Pokemon using magic. "They've only been here for 4 years and the minute they get access to Equestrian Magic, they're already naturals at them."

"Mhm." Some of the citizens nodded, finding the sight interesting.

"This is the greatest thing that could ever happen!" Sweetie Belle was especially happy at this, seeing her Meowstic, Plusle, Minun, Teddiursa and Prinplup use magic. "If I enter a Contest with this, I could win for sure! Coming up with new moves just became so much more easier! I'll be a Top Coordinator in no time!"

"You know that everyone else will be able to do the same, right?" Rarity pointed out. "Plus, get past the Grand Festival first before you start doing regular Contests again."

"R-Right, right! Almost forgot." The little unicorn giggled. "But with this, the odds are stacked in our favour. Right, everyone?" She asked the Pokemon.

"Plus!"

"Minun!" Plusle and Minun raised their arms in unison.

"Teddi Teddiursa!" The small bear gave an affirmative.

"Prin." Prinplup crossed his arms, looking forward to it.

"Meow!" Meowstic replied with a nonchalant tone.

"You'd best hope that the Cutie Marks don't vanish before the Grand Festival. It's only in one month after all." Rarity joked, but at the same time, it was a good point. A whole lot of people are going to take advantage of the fact that these spells exist, and it's likely going to cause the contests, especially the Grand Festival to have tighter competition. There was only one month left until the Grand Festival.

"Oh, yeah. That's a good point." Sweetie Belle blinked, not even realizing that fact. "It'll probably be tougher, huh? That's alright! We'll find a way. I say we work on what we already have just in case we lose the Cutie Marks before it starts. That way, we're always ready."

"Hey! Ya'll!" Applejack came galloping over, being in a rush as she attracted the attention of a few others. She started panting, taking deep breaths.

"What? What's up?" Lyra asked the Earth Pony.

"Ya'll gotta hear about this...Something came up. Something huge! For starters, Lucario just up and vanished all of a sudden!" Applejack exclaimed. "Next thing I know...he's got a building of his own!"

"What are you talking about?" Roseluck questioned. "Are you alright, Applejack?"

"Look!" Applejack had Sceptile pass over a newspaper for them to view. They gathered around the newspaper, taking a gander at the report on it. And what they saw surprised them.

On the newspaper, it said, "Overnight, three massive buildings suddenly appeared in these three areas. Most likely due to the recent emergence of Cutie Marks on every Pokemon in Equestria, buildings constructed to match certain Pokemon have been found in these three areas. One seems to resemble an Infernape, another an Abomasnow and the third seems to be that of a Lucario. Specifically, the Delta Species. There is apparently a fourth one that appeared later on, but nothing is known about that one thus far."

"Woah...That is your Lucario...Since when did he get his own building?" Derpy asked.

"More importantly, overnight? Just like that? Who built it that fast?" Roseluck wondered.

"Beats me, but I gotta find Lucario right away. Something's up and I bet it's because of those Cutie Marks." said Applejack. Something of great significance was happening because of these marks and it all started with three Pokemon gaining advanced intellect.

However, there seemed to be a fourth Pokemon missing from the equation despite there being a fourth building. It had no clear design and it looked incredibly unfinished. The fourth Pokemon was unknown as the journey continues.
