Disdain Towards Mortals

Equestria. Ponyville. Day.

The morning sun rose, the dawn of a new day. Sweetie Belle had returned to Ponyville along with her family and friends, with her being the first Top Coordinator in all of Equestria. Her name was well known now and she had the respect and admiration of many.

And that respect came in the other most common phenomenon. Fame. As soon as Sweetie Belle returned home, she was met with a bunch of new fans and reporters who wanted to know everything about her and her Pokemon.

The streets of Ponyville were filled with people, all of them cheering and applauding for Sweetie Belle and her victory at the Grand Festival. She was the center of attention, with everyone wanting to talk to her, shake her hoof or take a picture with her.

Sweetie Belle felt a bit overwhelmed at first, but she soon got used to the attention and even enjoyed it a little bit, although she still preferred to keep to herself and her Pokemon.

"Uhh..." Sweetie Belle chuckled, a bit nervous. A barrage of words were thrown her way, all from reporters. She was immediately reminded of Rarity and how her sister dealt with this, and she could see why it was so overwhelming. So many people to please. She knew that her sister had a preference for being in the spotlight but even Rarity had her limits. Now, Sweetie Belle was in this position. The center of attention. "Thank you. Thank you!"

"Smile for ze camera, Top Coordinator!" Photo Finish uttered, flashing her camera. "Ze best photo of you yet!"

"So, how does it feel, Sweetie Belle?!" Another reporter spoke up. "Seeing you rise up in the ranks of the Pokemon Contest World, is truly a dream! You'll be a legend in no time!" She was a bit starstruck. "The first in all of Equestria!"

"Yeah! Now every coordinator from this point on will have a goal to reach! To be the next you!" Another reporter added on. "You're the first Top Coordinator! Do you know how much of an inspiration you're going to be?"

"This is quite the feat! A big achievement!" Yet another reporter spoke up.

"Ahh...So this is what Ash goes through sometimes, huh?" Sweetie Belle said to herself quietly while chuckling. Rarity slid in, interfering while her sister was being interviewed.

"Now, now. She'll need a lot of space to herself." Rarity stepped in. "She'll have to get used to this." Rarity was in her element. She took her place alongside Sweetie Belle. The two sisters side by side. "But...if you have more questions...I'll answer them in her place." Rarity's eyes lit up with stars.

As that interview went on, something flew by over everyone at high speeds. It looked like a shooting star the way it was moving, being visible during the day. Over at Twilight Castle, as the Princess of Friendship was doing what she usually does, she spotted the shooting star, noticing that it was about to crash.

"Wha...?!" She gasped, before quickly rushing out. She ran outside of her home, and flew towards the location the shooting star would land at. When she got there, she saw a crater in the ground, and a large figure lying in the middle. The figure was covered in dust and debris from the impact. Twilight carefully approached the figure, using her magic to lift the debris away.

As the dust settled, Twilight saw that it was not a star at all, but a familiar being. One who she only saw as a projection when Ash underwent a Cosmic Trial.

The Angel Strident Heart.

"You're that Angel! Strident Heart?!" Twilight gasped at the sight of the angelic being, not expecting to see her in the flesh. In fact, she didn't expect to see any more angels ever aside from potentially Lightwing, who was to be Equestria's Guardian Angel. However, thanks to Team Plasma, she was captured and once more, Team Plasma had caused this.

"Ugh..." Strident Heart groaned, her body twitching from the clash she was previously in last night. She struggled to get up, using her wing to push herself to a standing position. She looked around her surroundings, seeing she was in a crater, created as a result of her falling from the sky. She sighed, and then turned to Twilight, who was looking at her with a concerned expression. "You..."

Afterwards, she passed out immediately, being too weak to stay up anymore. Twilight quickly rushed over to the angel's side, helping her up. Many came over to see this crater, even those interviewing Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle herself even came to take a gander. A ton of commotion was heard upon seeing the angel, noticing the halo she had on her and even vividly remembering her face from the trial.

"Is that the angel from that trial?" Fluttershy asked.

"It is...What's he doing here though?" Twilight wondered while carrying her. Right now, she needed to rest.

Strident Heart laid there on Twilight's bed, the Princess of Friendship having all of her friends over, watching the Angel rest. They were all gathered around her, with some of them looking a bit worried.

"She's been out for a few hours," Twilight stated, looking down at Strident Heart. She then looked up at her friends, "She must have taken a big hit from some kind of battle."

"I didn't even think angels could be harmed at all," Rarity added. "What caused this?"

"Mew..." Peeking out of Pinkie Pie's mane, Mew looked down on the angel. He knew the answer to this. Mew along with Hoopa, Meloetta and Victini were the only ones aware of the Secret War that the angels have with Team Plasma. But Mew also remembered how the angels requested that he and the others never tell anyone else of this.

According to the angels, no one should get involved in Divine Business, and the humans and ponies were not meant to interfere at all. In fact, no other species was allowed to intefere.

However, Mew was still concerned. For an angel to suffer damage, meant that it was absolutely massive. Something was powerful enough to do this to do this to them. Mew could not hide this forever. He needed to let the others now.

"Mew. Mew-Mew." He tugged Pinkie Pie's mane, trying to explain it all to her and everyone else. Everyone looked at Mew in surprise, as they could understand what he was saying. And what they heard caught them off guard.

"What did you say?!" Pinkie and Fluttershy collectively yelled as Strident Heart groaned and mumbled in her slumber, her eyes fluttering.

All the smoke started to clear, the aftermath of such a devastating clash being shown as the whole area had to recover from this massive outburst. In the distance, there was a giant crater that had been created from the massive clash of energy, the ground having been ripped apart from such an immense power.

Colress groaned, his hand on his module as he got back up, shaking his head and clearing his vision, looking around to survey the damage. But the damage he was looking for was far more than he expected. However, despite this damage and many fainting, there was a strong benefit. Many angels were unconscious and were in the area where they could easily be captured. That's exactly what happened as the grunts captured them and were preparing to send them over to the lab.

Despite it ending in a tie, Team Plasma won in some way. The Angels were to be a part of Colress's progress, just like Lightwing. The scientist held his head in his hand, looking down at the ground.

"This...This could take a while to recover from...!" He groaned, shaking his head and rubbing his forehead.

He then looked around, realizing that there were no more angels around the area, with the only ones being the unconscious ones that had already been captured. There were only a handful of them still conscious and they were the ones that were a bit of a distance from the blast. The angels had already left the Harmonia Kingdom, retreating and going back to the Light Canvas. He could not blame them. That blast would have knocked him out too.

After recovering, he looked over at Lightwing, who was even more drained after that clash, a majority of that attack using her own energy as the main source. But now, more angels would suffice for that, giving her some time to rest and recover. He looked on and smirked.

"Even though the angels escaped...This was a success, nonetheless." Colress said to himself. "With the angels captured, I'll be able to make more progress. This could be the breakthrough I need to fully understand the Divine Magic and its power. Even though we've lost the castle's barrier, we have gained more angels to work with. We can finally start the next phase of my plans and get to work."

Pulling on a switch, he reactivated the Divine Barrier before something else could happen. The barrier quickly resurfaced around the Harmonia Kingdom. Despite it having some damage, the Divine Magic and Rift Energy allowed it to repair itself quickly, as Colress was prepared for such events.

"But not just that...I only have Lightwing's Astral Body as a means of powering this new magic. Now? I have the full bodies of angels that can be used." He smirked. "It's only a matter of time before I can finally make use of their full bodies and harness more energy from them. Then I will finally understand the Divine Magic."

By having Angels with their full bodies present, Colress could easily do much more experiments on them, with their full bodies being the perfect vessel for him to extract more energy and understand the power of Divine Magic even better. And with that, Colress would have even greater control and knowledge of the Divine Magic.

"If Lord Ghetsis were here right now, he'd be over the moon. He's still trapped elsewhere." Colress sighed. "I wonder if he's been watching all of this from his strange location." The scientist would turn away, going back inside the castle. "This could be a chance for me. I can continue my research and experiments and I can do so without him watching over me. Without his influence. Or perhaps...with the power of these angels...I could bring him back easily!"

Equestria. Ponyville. Twilight's Castle.

"There was a battle with Team Plasma and the Angels?!" Twilight shouted. "They've been at it for that long?!"

"Mew!" Mew nodded. "Mew. Mew. Mew." He continued. It was all revealed to the. This Secret War that was never to be mentioned, until Mew decided to reveal it all. And Strident Heart was an example of what that war had done to them.

"That's why he haven't heard or seen anything from Lightwing...She's been captured..." Fluttershy gasped.

"Ngh..." Strident Heart groaned once more before suddenly opening her eyes. To her shock, she saw multiple ponies around her, neither of them being angels. The Angel spotted all these familiar faces and quickly remembered what had happened minutes ago. "!"

"Oh? She's up!" Pinkie Pie alerted everyone.

"You're awake." Applejack stated.

Strident Heart groaned, and quickly got up, jumping back away from the Mane 6, and their Pokemon. "You all! What do you think you're doing?!" She bellowed with a divine voice. Her wings opened up, ready to fly, but she stumbled, falling to the floor and groaning. She was still feeling pain from the crash.

"Wait, hold on! I just brought you here to rest! I saw that you crashed and had to get you somewhere soft!"Twilight held her hooves out.

"Why am I not surprised that out of all the mortals I see next, it's you lot." Strident Heart narrowed her eyes, not being too keen on Twilight's friend group. "The ones who have far too much potential to be troublesome. You and your human friend. How unfortunate."

"Oh, come on! You're still judgemental about Ash?! And you're taking it out on us?!" Rainbow Dash shouted.

"Hmph. I don't have to start ranting to you all. I have somewhere important to be. Somewhere away from here." Strident Heart swivelled, ready to leave and continue her mission.

"You mean to free Lightwing, right?" Twilight spoke, causing Strident Heart to halt in place.

"!" Strident Heart gasped. "How did you know about Lightwing?! Or our mission?!"

"Mew told us everything~" Pinkie giggled while hugging her partner.

"Mew!"

"You little...!" Strident snarled at the Psychic-Type for exposing something so crucial. "Do you have any idea how important it is that mortals do not know of Divine Business?! This is an absolute breach of principle!"

"H-How big of a deal could that even be?!" Applejack stuttered, not seeing the problem here whatsoever.

"The big deal is that Divine Business is to be kept a secret for a reason!" Strident shouted. "You mortals have no business interfering with us and what we do outside of those we take on! Knowing of it could cause chaos, and could even lead to mortals trying to get involved! Eons ago, examples of such events took place in different planets or even other dimensions and realms. The outcomes were tremendous."

"But this is something that involves us kinda." Rainbow Dash pointed out. "I mean, Lightwing wanted to be our Guardian Angel and we haven't seen or heard from here in a while. We just thought she was late but turns out that she's been captured by Team Plasma!"

"Yeah. And Team Plasma's been a problem for us here and there, so they're our business too." Twilight added.

"Hmph. Don't be ridiculous. Team Plasma, sure, I understand that. But Lightwing? Don't go thinking that she's your friend or anything." Strident scoffed.

"But...she is...Right?" Fluttershy asked in a confused manner.

"Mortals and Angels are not to become friends." Strident shook her head. "It is improbable and forbidden. duty is to ensure the well-being of the people, to guide them to a better future. We cannot have personal attachments with them." She stated with a serious tone. "Although, I'll admit that Lightwing is far too friendly. She has such a different view from most angels."

"Are you always this grumpy?" Rarity raised an eyebrow. She couldn't believe the way this Angel was acting. "Not quite the angel a lot of us envisioned."

"U-Uh..." Fluttershy shivered, stepping back. "I-I'll admit...I'm a little afraid of you..."

"Afraid of me? Ha. You should be." Strident chuckled. "I'll tell you this, I'm not as merciful or benevolent as Lightwing or any of those other Angels. In fact, if I saw a mortal being a threat to the balance of the world, I'd end them myself." She said, her wings spreading out, her divine presence being more apparent than ever, showing her true nature.

Fluttershy shuddered at the thought of an Angel ending a mortal, even if it was for a just cause. It was a reminder of the power and responsibility that these Angels held.

"Y-You wouldn't!" She stuttered. "That's horrible!"

"I would if the situation called for it. I've done it a couple of times and have banished some to the Abyssal Depths." Strident Heart smirked. She sighed, and her wings closed. "But that's beside the point. I have to focus on saving Lightwing and getting back to the battle." Her voice was firm, and she seemed determined to carry out her mission.

"Hey, wait! You're not in the best condition right now!" Twilight tried to warn Strident Heart. "You need to recover and then go on your mission. You were pretty hurt when you crashed."

"Nonsense. No matter the injury, as an angel, I can-" But as soon as she tried taking flight, she left the air for a little bit only to fall down again, landing on the floor with a thud. "W-What...?" She tried once more but fell down again."How can this be?! Over time, my body should have automatically healed itself and my Divine Magic should have replenished by now!" She gasped, knowing something was off. "Unless...!"

She quickly put it together. Colress's new creation, all that power from it did more than just badly harm her. It must have affected her Divine Magic. It must have caused it to be drained, and she could not effectively use it or her powers anymore, especially healing. "Cursed mortals...! What have they done...?!"

"Are you...okay?" Pinkie tilted her head.

"Whatever that Colress did, it disrupted my magic?! How can a machine do this to Divinity?!" Strident looked at her hoof, baffled. Once again, Team Plasma, a group of mortals, have managed to outsmart her by crippling such powerful magic. She was shocked at the possibility. She then looked back at Twilight and the other who simply shrugged.

Strident Heart then looked out into the horizon, stunned as she had to wonder what had become of her fellow angels. She wasn't the only one blown back by the explosion after all and who knows where they have all landed. Unbeknownst to her, the worst has happened.

Strident Heart sat down, her hooves on her head. "How could something like this happen to us?" She said to herself. "Never has such a titanic scenario existed for us. Never before have we angels been this vulnerable?"

"I know this is a bad situation but we can help you in any way we can!" Twilight offered.

"Don't be ridiculous!" But Strident Heart declined. "Mortal assistance is the last thing we need! All of this has basically confirmed one thing to me that I feared!"

"W-What's that?" Twilight stepped back.

"...The existence of our two worlds meeting should have never happened. We should have never met the World of Pokemon. There is a reason our two existences were never supposed to collide." Strident looked away. "Our stories are too separate. Too distant. This was all a mistake. All of it. I always advocated for to Rift to bring everything back to normal, so both universes may flow how they naturally should. But ever since Ash Ketchum made the wish on all those Jirachi to unite both existences it has all changed."

"But that's what we wanted. We found new friends because of it." Fluttershy added.

"You were never supposed to make friends with them. And because of that wish...my worst fears are becoming a reality. Access to far more powerful magic, far more powerful energy and so on can be pulled off. Team Plasma would have never known about Divine Magic in the first place had both worlds never collided." Strident Heart explained. "That entire Trial we put Ash Ketchum on was to rectify what he had done. But alas, he was seen as Not Guilty."

"All thanks to Arceus, right?" Twilight replied.

"No thanks to Arceus. And by extension, as much as it pains me to say this...The Writing Glory."

"Who's the Writing Glory?" The girls asked in unison.

"Arceus is the Creator Deity of the World of Pokemon, right? Well, the Writing Creator Deity is the God of our world. That one you and I originally reside in." Strident Heart answered. "She is our Creator just as much as Arceus is the creator of all things that come from the Pokemon World and beyond. Magic of all kinds come from her."

"Including Primordial Magic..." Twilight silently said, realizing that she was the true source of the Primordial Magic.

"Yes..." Strident Heart nodded. "And the fact that the two Creators of our worlds are now acquainted is a problem in my eyes."

"Why?" Twilight tilted her head. "Isn't that a good thing?"

"Now that both worlds are one, there are now Two Creator Deities. Arceus and the Writing Glory. Arceus vouched for Ash Ketchum and he did have a talk with the Writing Glory, meaning he was seen as Not Guilty in the eyes of her too. Thus, this existence is absolute. And there is nothing I can do about it. This is the one thing I cannot reverse and fix myself." Strident Heart stated. "All because of him...and by extension you. All of you wished to reach Jirachi...and you got your wish."

"..." The girls all stayed silent for a while, taking in this information.

"This is why I dislike mortals. Your influence on this universe is too great. It's the reason that Team Plasma could even get this far in the first place. I need to stop them. I have no choice but to go on this mission." Strident Heart looked at the girls, who all nodded in agreement.

"Twilight!" However, they had other problems to worry about as Spike rushed in. "Twilight!"

"Hm? What's wrong, Spie? Did something happen?" Twilight asked.

"Big news...Princess Celestia wants to talk. It's about the Arcane Institute. They've been seen!"

As the journey continues.
