My Little Pokémon: Grander World
The Resonance Principle
Previous ChapterNext ChapterEquestria. Las Pegasus. Nightfall.
Nightfall had come and so did the end of the Grand Festival. A tired Sweetie Belle could be seen lying on the hotel bed with her trophy right next to her. It was a huge crystal Pokeball and it shone brightly in the night. She had done so much, and now, she was the Top Coordinator.
"Eeehh..." She grumbled and mumbled in her sleep, snoring rather loudly. She was exhausted. Her Pokemon were in the same boat, too exhausted to return to their Pokeballs.
"You were all amazing..." Rarity smiled softly as she watched her sister and her Pokemon sleeping. They all looked so happy and peaceful. "My sweet sister, and her friends."
Rarity was so very proud. Her sister had come a long way, becoming a Top Coordinator and an amazing Pokemon Trainer. She's had her ups and downs, but she's always persevered and won. She had worked so hard to get to where she was today, and Rarity couldn't be prouder.
With a yawn, Rarity was ready to call it a night, putting a blanket over her sister before heading off to bed. After that, they would head back to Ponyville the very next day. Sweetie Belle smiled in her sleep, clutching her trophy close. It was a long and hard road, but she did it.
And now, she had to decide her next path. What did the future hold for her? What was the next step in her journey? What would be her next goal?
The world was her oyster.
On the same night, Celestia and Luna were about to head home to Canterlot. Luna was just about to enter the Dream Realm as always. Many ponies could be seen departing from Las Pegasus even though the city goes on even through the night. But as the Royal Sisters were about to leave, they were approached by Skyblue Shine.
"Skyblue Shine? You're here? If you've shown up, then something important must've come up?"
"Well, yes. And I am here because I came to see my daughter perform. Aside from that, I have crucial news, Your Majesty. During my time in other worlds just recently, I've learned about how the Arcane Institute is on the move." She explained.
"Hmm? The Arcane Institute?" Celestia raised an eyebrow. "At this time? Are you sure?"
"Positive? They were reported to be seen travelling across dimensions, moving through the Dimensional Space. They haven't shown up to this universe, however and are most likely in another."
"That means they've probably pinned down the location of Ash's counterparts, otherwise, they would have come here first." Luna spoke up.
"Probably. I haven't been able to confirm it yet. No universe in our alliance has." Skyblue Shine shook her head.
"It's still wonderful that you came to us for this. Now we know that they're active once more and all that protection we promised Ash will kick in. Under no circumstances are they to even harm Ash or even capture Twilight." Celestia added, ready to get back to work rather soon. "Outside of Team Plasma, they're the last problems we have to deal with."
"Speaking of Team Plasma...I do wonder where Ghetsis even is..." Luna looked down. "The last time I saw him, I thought that was my end. He completely overpowered me, but left to do something else...and he hasn't attacked us again...but I do wonder where he is."
"If he isn't in this universe, then I'd assume that he's in the same universe as the Arcane Institute." Skyblue Shine suggested. "It's the only logical conclusion I can come to. If the Arcane Institute is in a different world, then Ghetsis must be there as well."
"You think those two are working together?!" Luna gasped.
"Mm. No." But Celestia ruled it out right away. "While Team Plasma has it out for us, the Arcane Institute mainly wants Ash and Twilight. They're not after us, and they have no reason to work with Team Plasma. As far as it stands, I don't believe Team Plasma has an alliance with anyone else anymore. But I doubt they are slowing down their plans...wherever they are."
Unova. The Harmonia Kindom. Nightfall.
In reality, they were still at odds with the Angels, but now, they were truly battling against them.
The battle between Team Plasma and the Angels has been going on for many weeks and the results were chaotic. Pokemon and Angels took each other on in a war that shook the very kingdom.
The Angels, with their Divine Magic, would unleash beams and spells of the divine energy in the form of various elements. One Angel, for example, used the Divine Magic to summon a beam of light that pierced through a Gyarados from above. Another one would fire a blast of fire that would spread in the air before descending in the form of meteors. A group of Team Plasma Pokemon took that one out.
On the Plasma's side, their attacks were a combination of regular moves and moves empowered with Divine Magic. A Seviper used Poison Sting, which was glowing with Divine energy, piercing through a Pokemon's shield and striking angel behind it. The attack was super effective, despite the Seviper using Poison Sting on an opponent who would have a type disadvantage. This was the true power of Divine Magic at its peak. The power to ignore weaknesses.
"To think they've improved with our magic in such a short time..." An angel said with fear in her voice.
"The Divine Energy is being amplified. Their weapons and tech are increasing it in strength. Not only that but they are managing to expertly use Divine Magic without harming the environment, unlike before." An angel noticed.
"That Colress. He must have found an effecient way to bypass that problem." An angel remarked.
The battle between the Angels and Pokemon continued on, neither side gaining the advantage over the other. While the Pokemon had a numbers advantage, the Angels were managing to hold their own, but they had a weakness that Colress was ready to take advantage of. The Pokemon were able to land a hit, causing some of the Angels to become weak and fall from the sky.
In order for them to keep fighting, they would have to heal. The Angels could heal each other with a simple touch of their magic. That was the problem. The Angels needed to heal constantly. That was the weakness of Divine Magic that Colress took advantage of.
Despite this, the Angels weren't sloppy either. All thanks to Strident Heart, who seemed to be taking charge of this attack. Her wings and halo glowed with intense magic as she formed an aura of light that spread out in the shape of wings and blades, slashing through several Pokemon, causing some of them to be defeated, fainting on the spot. This allowed her to take care of the weaker Pokemon before dealing with the stronger ones.
Above her, a massive angelic creature in the shape of a bird would swoop down and unleash a beam of divine magic from its mouth. The Pokemon below had to scatter, dodging the attack or even fighting back against it with Hyper Beam, Flamethrower and other moves that could match it in strength.
"Persistent humans...Stubborn Pokemon...!" Strident said, admiring the magic of the Pokemon below. The Angelic Creature managed to push back the opposing attacks with a second attack of the same type. This massive Angel was starting to turn things around, raining down Divine Rays from the sky.
But, Strident knew she had to get moving, and quickly. Their objective was not to defeat Team Plasma, but to free their Angelic Comrade, Lightwing. Her presence was felt, meaning she was nearby and could be rescued. But the Angels were currently unable to pinpoint where in the kingdom she was being held.
Any Pokemon that tried to fight back against the rays would either struggle to fully keep them at bay, or be completely overpowered by them. This allowed some of the Pokemon to be weakened and some of them to be defeated. Strident Heart smiled, knowing that victory could be within their sights after all these weeks.
"It's only a matter of time." Strident Heart flew through the battlefield, her eyes focused on a singular goal. "We will end this battle soon. Once we free Lightwing, Team Plasma will no longer be able to maintain the barrier around their kingdom." Strident Heart declared.
On the other side of things was Colress, who was the one supplying Team Plasma with all the Divine Magic available. He saw how this massive angel was turning the tides of this battle. However, he wasn't panicking at all. If anything, he was prepared to end this.
"We've gathered all of the data we need for now." He smiled, taking a deep breath. The Divine Magic and its energy were at an all-time high right now, meaning that this was the perfect opportunity. "Now, it's time to see the full power of our research. We're putting everything we have into this one attack."
Colress would activate the Kingdom's barrier once again, this time combining a great deal of Rift Energy and Divine Magic into this attack, allowing a great light to shine down from the heavens.
Suddenly, a beam of light came crashing down on the kingdom from above, a beam that contained both Rift Energy and Divine Magic, the latter being amplified. This caused a chain reaction to occur, as the energy from the beam started spreading, creating a large sphere that expanded rapidly. The shockwaves of the sphere were powerful, being able to knock away the angels and Team Plasma grunts, but they would recover soon enough.
Once that was done, the sphere of divine energy would wash over all the Pokemon, bringing a certain change to them. Colress grinned while adjusting his glasses.
"Here's the first example! By doing this, I've managed to simulate Dynamax Energy from Galar!" He shouted as he watched the scene unfold before his very eyes.
The sphere would fade and the battlefield would change. All the Pokemon on Team Plasma's side were transformed into gigantic beasts, towering over the angels. The angels looked in awe at the Dynamaxed Pokemon that were brimming with Divine and Rift Magic, becoming far more powerful than before. Some even took on slightly different forms due to how much the magic was changing them.
"Now then...It is time to show them how powerful my research is!" Colress declared, commanding his Pokemon army. "I'll be more than glad to have multiple angels to experiment on!"
The Dynamaxed Pokemon let out roars that could be heard all throughout the kingdom and even outside of it. The angels were left speechless at the power that the Pokemon had. The Pokemon had their own unique Dynamaxed forms thanks to the power of Divine Magic.
Colress had truly done his work and it paid off big time. This was a testament to Colress's scientific expertise, being able to take something as sacred and divine as the energy used by the Angels, and then being able to turn it into something as dangerous as what was before them now.
The angels could do nothing as the Pokemon unleashed a wave of energy from their bodies. It was a massive pulse that could be felt from the angels in the Light Canvas, causing them to look down and see what was happening.
The angels could barely dodge, having to scatter as a result. However, the pulse of energy caused some of them to become weak, leaving them vulnerable to attack.
"Angels!" The other angels gasped. They flew over to the angels and cast a healing spell on them.
The Dynamaxed Pokemon weren't done there as they began unleashing powerful Max Moves. One Pokemon would unleash an attack that was a Max Airstream and Max Ooze combined. A second Pokemon would unleash a move that was a Max Lightning and Max Geyser, both at once. Both of these moves were powerful, but when combined with Divine Magic and Rift Energy, it caused the power of these moves to increase dramatically.
This caused the battlefield to be filled with a mix of water and electricity, causing the area to become more dangerous than before. The Angels had to be careful as the attacks were powerful and they could feel it in the air. But they didn't let it deter them, their determination showing.
The Angels continued to attack the Pokemon, using their own spells and abilities to counteract them. The Dynamaxed Pokemon were still powerful and were capable of taking on multiple angels at once, but they weren't invincible.
However, the power of these Dynamaxed Pokemon, combined with the Divine and Rift energy, made them far stronger than the angels expected. The angels would be forced to use more powerful attacks and spells in order to stand a chance against the Pokemon, even resorting to more Divine Artifacts.
The Massive Angel Bird found its advantages to be quickly pushed back. The Pokemon grew to be just as large as it, some even becoming larger. A Dynamaxed Skarmory would use its talons and claws, combined with Max Wyrmwind and Max Darkness, to attack the Angel, dealing significant damage to it.
This caused the bird to shriek and scream, but not give up as its determination to keep going was stronger than the pain it felt. The angel would then retaliate with an ability of its own. This ability would cause a massive wave of light and fire to appear, burning and damaging anything in its path.
However, the Dynamaxed Skarmory managed to use its speed and agility to avoid the attack, its reflexes and speed enhanced greatly by the divine and Rift Energy, allowing it to quickly dodge and avoid the angel's attacks, and retaliate with another attack of its own.
The Skarmory would then unleash a Max Strike, which would deal a massive blow to the angelic creature with an uproar of Infinity Energy, knocking it down. This caused the other angels to try to help their ally, but they were quickly pushed back by the other Pokemon. This was a battle of epic proportions and it seemed like there was no end in sight.
"How can this be happening?" A greatly drained Lightwing groaned, looking on at the fierce clash and how the Pokemon were pushing back against the Angel. All the angels just couldn't understand it and Lightwing certainly couldn't. "All that power...It can go up against magic from beyond? I just don't understand..."
"Hoh? Even Angels struggle to figure it out?" Colress smirked. "I thought you beings with such high knowledge beyond anyone else would've been able to figure it out by now. But clearly, in this instance, I possess the greater knowledge on why this is all possible." He then tapped his head.
"W-What do you mean...?" Lightwing shuddered.
"Hm. Have you ever wondered something? How is it that these so-called ‘mere’ Pokémon can stand against forces like yours—beings that wield magic that transcends mortal understanding? You’ve likely assumed it was a fluke, some anomaly. If you said it was my science, I'd be flattered." He paused, letting the tension build. "But while my science is involved, it isn’t the full reason for it. No, it’s far more intriguing than that."
The angels were slowly getting desperate, but the battle continued on and the Dynamaxed Pokemon were showing no signs of stopping, even with their enhanced abilities and powers, it still seemed like they weren't powerful enough to truly defeat the angels, who were constantly using the healing powers of the Divine Magic.
The battle was getting more intense, with both sides refusing to back down, the Angels were still trying their best to free Lightwing and end the war while Team Plasma continued to fight, hoping to maintain the status quo.
"What...are you talking about?" Lightwing asked.
"There’s a reason that Pokemon are the only ones capable of defeating beings such as yourself. Even other Pokemon that surpass the regular kind, such as Groudon, Reshiram...even Giratina. Dare I even say, Arceus? It's a little theory I've decided to name that no one else has in the history of our World. The Resonance Principle."
"The Resonance Principle?" Lightwing repeated, trying to process the information.
"You see, the Pokémon have a special quality about them that allows them to truly bring their power to its fullest. And it all has to do with what's inside of them, something that connects all of us, including you. The Soul. It's the power that allows Pokemon to resonate with each other and the world around them, creating a powerful bond between the Pokemon and their surroundings." Colress explained. "This resonance is the source of their strength and the key to their evolution. As they resonate with each other and the world, they grow stronger, evolving and becoming more powerful than before."
"...Oh...!" Lightwing's eyes widened.
Colress smirked, the joy of explaining his superior knowledge clear. "Yes. It’s the phenomenon that occurs when a Trainer and their Pokémon reach a level of synchronicity that goes beyond mere commands or loyalty. Their bond creates an energy resonance, amplifying the Pokémon’s strength, speed, and abilities far beyond their natural limits. In essence, their emotions, their will to protect each other, to achieve victory—these become the fuel that allows them to transcend the boundaries that separate mortals from gods." Colress stated, clearly pleased with himself.
"So no matter how powerful the opponent may be...even seemingly impossibly powerful..." Lightwing was starting to put it all together, causing her to shudder some more.
"That's right, Angel. No matter what, the bonds between Trainer and Pokemon will ensure that they can contest the power of any foe they come across. A god or deity will still be challenged by a Pokemon." Colress laughed a bit, before looking towards Lightwing again. "Pokemon are truly fascinating creatures, aren't they?!"
"But then...you shouldn't be this strong! All of Team Plasma can't possibly have that kind of powerful bond! I've seen that bond within Ash when I battled him! If anything, he's far more worthy of being an example of that Resonance Principle!" Lightwing tried standing up, but she could only wriggle, trying to get closer to the scientist.
"Oh, yes. But there is another side to it." Colress turned his head to Lightwing. "One that Lord Ghetsis already figured out with his Hydeigon. Another part of the Resonance Principle that powers it. Hate."
"!" Lightwing gasped, knowing the power of Ghetsis's Hydregion, a Pokemon who truly hated his trainer, and vice versa.
"The power of the soul is not limited to just love, it also has hate. That hate resonating can also bring out power, a negative power, yes. But it can also be a powerful one." He explained.
Colress smirked, "Hate is a powerful motivator. The stronger the hatred, the greater the resonance and thus the power that can be unleashed. Pokémon fueled by hate, when guided and controlled by their Trainers, can be formidable opponents, even for beings such as yourself."
"..." Lightwing could feel a chill going down her spine. She could not understand how someone could treat Pokemon in such a way to the point where it brought such a massive benefit.
"We are driven by it to an extent. The bonds we share with our Pokemon are the same as anyone else out there. But while others will see Pokemon as their friends, we see them as creatures that can guide us to our goals. Our ambitions." Colress continued, "With Team Plasma's ambition and goals, our Pokemon have resonated with that, and that is what allows us to fight you. We may not have that pure love and compassion that some may think, but our goals are strong enough to the point where it still counts in this case. That is what drives our Pokemon. Not love. Our Ambitions and our hatred."
Lightwing couldn't believe it. Even after everything she has witnessed and experienced in her existence, this was truly shocking to her. She never imagined that such a thing was possible. That there could be such a dark, twisted version of what was supposedly a sacred bond.
"Now then. Watch as all your fellow angels are defeated at once. All this energy that's accumulated in this month-long battle is about to be fully unleashed." Colress turned back to his control module and prepared for the final phase.
Back to the battlefield, the Dynamaxed Pokemon continued their assault, pushing the angels back, even as they used the healing powers of the Divine Magic to stay in the fight, the angels were being overwhelmed by the sheer power of the Pokemon's combined forces. The Angels had to think of a new plan quickly, or else they would lose the war and lose Lightwing.
Strident already had something in mind. The Angels had far too many Divine Artifacts to count. Even the ones used here weren't even a fraction of what they have. And while their Divine Energy was slowly dwindling, there was one more move Strident could use that could potentially put an end to this.
"This could turn into a second month of intense battling at this rate...!" Strident Heart grit her teeth. "We can't keep clashing with them from the outside. We need to get inside at once." She had to think of something and she thought of something she could do with the power she has left. "We could try one thing that could get us inside. It could cause a lot of chaos inside, but we don't have any other options. We need to free Lightwing." She then pulled out an object from wings.
It was a staff with a very divine appearance. It had a long, silver shaft with a blue handle on top, and it had a golden winged symbol on it, and in the center of it, was a diamond-like gem. This was a weapon that could be used to pierce through anything. The Staff of Heavenly Light.
"We're doing it now!" She flew down towards the ground. "If we're able to get into the castle and free Lightwing, Team Plasma's defences will weaken. I don't want to destroy their home but we have no other choice at this point." She said to herself.
"Wait! You brought that along?!" One angel shouted, looking at the Staff. "Are you mad?! Do you know what that thing does?!"
"Did you even get permission to use that?!" Another angel approached her. Many angels turned their attention to Strident Heart and the staff she held, knowing the consequences it could bring.
"I did." Strident Heart confirmed. And Angels certainly do not lie. "If we can't break the barrier, we're getting into the castle. We're breaking into their home at once. This is the only way to get in, despite the consequences." She then aimed her staff directly at the castle, knowing she had to aim for a weak point.
The staff began glowing with Divine Magic. It then unleashed a beam of light that would hit the castle, piercing through its walls and causing the building to start crumbling. The angels gasped at this sight as the staff could not be stopped, even if they wanted to. It was already active.
This was the power of this particular artifact. Once activated, its beam would never cease until it pierced its target completely. This was a weapon of pure destruction, a weapon that would not stop until it achieved its purpose. But that was not the end of it.
Once the staff hit the target, a powerful magic circle would form on the ground, the ground beneath the castle. This circle would be the catalyst for a great spell that would cause massive damage to everything within its vicinity, even the castle itself.
The magic circle would multiply, appearing in the air all around the castle, and even around the Angels and Team Plasma. Each circle was connected to each other through a powerful magic web. As the spell was being prepared, the circles would glow brighter and brighter, the energy being concentrated within the center of the web.
The atmosphere would change as a result, turning a different color. It was a mix of blue, purple, gold, and black, all of which created an eerie and powerful atmosphere that was felt throughout the entire Kingdom.
But Colress had something to respond to this. He felt the castle tremble aggressively, the barrier failing as this artifact could succeed where others have. "Ngh! You haven't won yet, Angels! Feast your eyes on my greatest creation yet!"
Colress activated the Kingdom's barrier again. It glowed, this time, having a more purple and black glow, and the ground underneath the kingdom shook and trembled.
The earth cracked and crumbled. A large shadow loomed over everyone. The angels were in shock as they watched a large machine, one that looked like it was from another planet, rise up from the ground. Its size dwarfed the castle and the kingdom itself, making everyone feel tiny compared to it.
"What is that?!" Strident Heart shouted, watching the large machine rise up. "Is that another one of their weapons?! How is it so large?! It was underneath our noses the entire time?!" She then noticed that it had been using Rift Energy, allowing it to grow to the size it was at now, along with the energy that was supplied to it thanks to Lightwing.
"It is my greatest achievement yet!" Colress declared with a grin. "It's the result of my experiments with the Divine Magic and the Rift Energy! A combination of both of them and this is the end product of all of that!" Colress declared. "Behold, the R-D.M.E!"
"The what?" One of the angels said in a confused tone.
"Rift- Divine Magic Experiment! Or, the R-D.M.E!" Colress grinned. "Take a gander at what it can do!"
Instantly, the machine's full capabilities were used, the weapon firing a beam that was the size of the kingdom, its destructive power unmatched by any weapon on earth.
This was the most powerful weapon that had ever been created and it was a testament to Colress's research, as he was able to harness the Divine Magic and the Rift Energy to create such a powerful weapon, something no other scientist had done.
It clashed with the opposing beam that struck the barrier and castle, creating a huge paroxysm that shook everything in the Harmonia Kingdo. This clash of powers created an explosion of cosmic proportions, with the energy released being enough to destroy more than just this area, but even everything around it. Possibly more.
The shockwave created a sonic boom that could be heard in other cities and towns far from here, and it caused the ground to shake violently. This clash of energy was enough to send the Angels and Pokemon flying, with some of them even being knocked out completely. This was a testament to the power of the R-D.M.E.
However, this was a double-edged sword. The clash between these two energies would cause the barrier around Harmonia to finally shatter. It could no longer hold, especially when this weapon was active and unleashing such power. Colress's plan backfired. The barrier was gone and now there was a clear way inside the castle.
But at the same time, the R-D.M.E would keep going. Its destructive capabilities were too powerful, to the point that it could not be stopped now. The Angels would be in danger of being destroyed and even the Kingdom itself was not safe from it.
"Give me back...my friend!" Strident Heart grunted while holding onto the staff, trying to push the opposing beam back with hers.
At that moment, the clash reached a powerful stalemate as the two attacks combusted in front of each other. A grandiose outburst of so much power went off, eclipsing the castle in the light. The entire Kingdom was eclipsed as both Colress and Strident Heart squinted their eyes at this blinding light. That was all they saw.
Light.
As the journey continues.
