My Little Pokémon: Grander World
The Lone Princess
Previous ChapterNext ChapterUniverse 75. The Ultalysium Dynasty. Nightfall.
Another hole was blown through the palace walls by Twilight's magic. The palace of the Ultalysium Dynasty was so disgustingly huge that no matter how much Twilight broke through it, there seemed to be more rooms and more to its endless depths.
More alicorns would come to fight and put her down, but none stood a chance. She has seen and dealt with plenty of magic before, so they all were a waste of her time.
"What's with this palace?! It's so freakishly huge I'm finding myself going in circles." Twilight was already exasperated in dealing with the alicorns. And even more annoyed in the size of this castle. It made her wonder just what the hell was wrong with this world. She'd much prefer being somewhere in Equestria to get her head and body examined.
Then there was the thought of how the alicorns managed to keep a universe under their hooves. The thought of a race, a powerful one, lording over all in their arrogance and greed. From the sounds of it, if it were the case, she could only imagine what happened to the other races on their home planet. It didn't sound pretty.
At the same time, elsewhere in this massive castle, a spell was being cast. One that would temporarily bring the All-Seeing and the All-Consuming here. Many of the Higher-up Alicorns gathered around a room, performing a ritual that was not meant to bring in an invasion of creatures but something of great interest to their Deities.
It was a spell that took time, indeed. But this ritual has to work. The All-Seeing and All-Consuming could both already feel a fragment of themselves was here and it intrigued the duo of their presence here. If the ritual was done successfully, it would temporarily bring the two here into this plane of reality.
Their influence, so powerful that not even the most advanced technology can truly comprehend their existence, could possibly cause a chain of destruction on an apocalyptic scale if the two aren't brought to the Dynasties throne room.
And for these Alicorn mages who are powerful on their own right, bringing their deities here, would mean great rewards. "Yes...I can feel it..." In her realm, the Greater Vastness, the All-Seeing could already feel the progress of her being freed from this realm, and into the mortal plain. "...Soon...Twilight Sparkle will be mine..."
Twilight had a lot of work on her hooves. She wanted to save everypony that had been captured and were threatened to become alicorns, but that was a ton of workload indeed. For now, she had to focus on getting Applejack somewhere safe while also freeing a few if she could.
Not too far from here, Princess Solar, along with a dragged-along unwilling Raleigh, were heading to the palace to find the intruders that would dare mess up her palace. And naturally, she was incredibly upset about it, holding her head high.
"All of this mess is going to delay our eventual marriage. How aggravating," sighed Princess Solar. Raleigh could only sigh himself at the mention of their future together. The Princess stopped in her tracks. She could sense Twilight Sparkle's magic nearby with ease. "Oh. Found her."
Without any issue, Princess Solar could sense Twilight Sparkle and her magical output. It would lead her and Raleigh to the location Twilight and Applejack are in. With a flick of her head and her horn glowing, she would easily rip a large chunk of the wall off. She didn't care that much It was her palace. She had the money and the magic to create an endless supply of these halls.
Twilight gasped after a massive chunk of the wall came off, turning her head towards the pony that just did that. The princesses' eyes were fierce, seeing the alicorn in the flesh. "Oh. So you're the intruder who decided to destroy this place." Solar was more upset than angry. But it made the Princess seem more threatening, because she wasn't upset at Twilight at all, it's what she had done, destroying her own personal castle, that was of any issue to her. "If you think you're gonna ruin my future with my dear fiance, Raleigh, then think again, intruder! You're not gonna escape, and you're gonna pay! Okay?!"
"...Princess Celesta?" All Twilight could think of when looking at this little filly was Princess Celestia, since they both looked rather identical to each other.
"Don't you dare confuse me for someone like her! My name is Princess Solar!" the little filly stamped her hooves in annoyance. She seemed to know the name Celestia and had an instant negative reaction to it. "I am the princess of the Ultalysium Dynasty. I will have my father's throne and be an Empress, alongside my future husband, Emperor Raleigh."
"Uuugh.." Raleigh grimaced.
"Oh, Raleigh. What did you get yourself into?" Twilight sighed while Absol snarled at Solar. She didn't want to see her trainer end up with a filly of all people. "Look, I don't have time for this! I need to find my friends and get out of here! Could you please let Raleigh go?"
"As if. Why would I let my handsome prince go? I'm the only princess he needs. Right, dear Raleigh?"
"...You know, this is actually not my first time being taken in by a royal figure." Raleigh chuckled to himself. "But I'd like to be with my friends now. If I'm going to be your husband, you'll at least hear me out, right?"
"Nice try, sweetie. But that won't work on me~" Solar winked.
"Oh, enough of this! We're wasting time!" Twilight would try and grab Raleigh away from her, using her magic to do so. But Solar was quick on the draw, having a counterspell at the ready. Her horn glowed with the same strength as Twilight, and when their magic collided, it caused an explosive wave of power. "W-What?!"
Twilight was quick to throw Applejack out of harm's way, but she was pushed back and hit against the wall behind her, and collapsed on the floor, her head spinning and body aching. "Ugh...!" Twilight muttered to herself as she slowly got up and shook off the pain.
"I may not look it, but I've been taught and trained by my father since I was born!" Solar boasted with pride.
"Absol...!" Absol snarled at the princess, threatening to attack her. Although, Absol wasn't the type to really harm children. He's never done it before and for good reason. Despite his serious disposition, Absol refused to harm a child, especially with how powerful he was naturally.
Princess Solar smirked at Absol and summoned a sword, which was the size of her own body. It's a large weapon, one that would normally be too big for anyone else. But Princess Solar held it in her magic grip with ease and the sword's blade began to glow with a radiant gold aura. She swung it around as if it was nothing but a toy and then she aimed the sword at Twilight, ready to strike.
"Sol!" Absol could still defend against Solar's attacks though, and he did. Absol used Detect and countered Solar's strike with his claws. The force of impact sent the two flying in opposite directions. Solar skidded back, her wings spread out wide as she braced for another blow, while Absol tumbled through the air before he regained his footing.
Princess Solar's sword clashed with Absol's claws, and they began to exchange blows rapidly. The sword's blade cut through the air with incredible speed and accuracy, but Absol was able to predict every move and block each one with ease. He leaped into the air and tried to strike at her from above, but she blocked him with the sword and then swung it again, forcing him back down. They were evenly matched. Absol couldn't land a single hit on her and neither could Solar.
That is until Solar baited Absol, manipulating the aura of the sword itself as they manifested into maic chains. The chains rapidly wrapped themselves around Absol and Twilight, binding their legs and arms. "Hmph! Easy." Princess Solar smirked with glee as she held Absol in the air.
Absol was bound by the chains, and they were slowly squeezing the life out of him. He couldn't even speak. "Absol!" Twilight shouted, struggling against the chains.
"I'll take you to the dungeons and then you'll never see your friends again." Princess Solar smirked, having won. "Until the wedding is over, of course."
Raleigh cried out to Solar. "Please. This is getting out of hand. Why don't we just let them go and then they'll be gone from your kingdom forever?" Raleigh tried to compromise with the princess. He didn't like how Solar was acting towards Twilight and her Pokémon. The Princess scoffed at him.
"You want me to just release her? No. That will never happen. I am going to keep you safe here until we get married. You will become the emperor of the world and you'll be all mine." Solar smiled and pet his face. Raleigh grimaced from the touch and turned away. But then he had a sudden realization.
"...Fine," Raleigh replied, to Twilight's surprise. She didn't think that was a very smart idea.
"Excellent choice, my dear!" Princess Solar clapped her hooves happily.
"Twilight, please... Let her take you to the dungeon." Raleigh whispered. He had a plan and he was going to use it to his advantage.
"Hold on a second!" Twilight halted it. "I've got something I need to know and say before you do anything about this."
"And what's that?" Solar raised an eyebrow.
"You had a reaction to the name Celestia. Tell me...do you have a Princess Celestia in your Universe?"
"...Mmrrrgh...!I don't like that you know that name...!" The young princess snarled, clearly not too fond of such a name. "What about it?"
"Let me talk to her. Please! If she's still a superior figure in this universe, then I'm sure we can come to an agreement or something!"
"Y-Yeah! That's a great idea, actually!" Raleigh agreed, going along with this.
Solar's expression changed to one of disgust. "You don't have to wonder about that. After all, I'm better than I ever was."
"...Huh?" The duo uttered, confused by that statement. It sounded like she was referring to herself as Celestia.
"Hmm...I guess there's no shame in telling you. It doesn't do all that much...but I am...or rather, was Princess Celestia. I was able to Ascend, but I took a new name, Solar. That was the old me." Solar smirked, but it wasn't a happy one.
"W-Wha—?" Raleigh was left in a speechless state.
"Wait. So, what? You're just a younger Celestia but with a different name? Or did something else happen to you?" Twilight inquired. The only universe that had a young Celestia was Universe 28.
"Oh, I used to be old. So, so, so, soooooo old." Solar turned around, beginning to explain what life was like before this. "I gave you a hint earlier Raleigh. Now, you'll know the whole thing."
Equestria.
Equestria.
Even in this universe, it was still as beautiful as ever. Before it all changed to become the Ultalysium Dynasty in another life, it was where Princess Celestia ruled over her wonderful subjects and her sister Luna controlled the night.
They lived in harmony, as well as having friendship with the three kinds: Pegasi, Unicorn, and Earth Pony.
It was truly a place that anypony would want to be in, and the world that everyone dreamed of and wasn't that different from other Equestrias out there in the many universes.
But there was a stark difference.
In this world, Celestia outlived everyone. Her subjects...her sister...everyone. Even Luna was gone. This was a universe where Luna was not given the same benefits as her older sister. Thus, Princess Celestia was left all alone.
She sat upon her throne. It had been many centuries since her sister's passing. Her people had long vanished. Her friends were no longer with her. The Elements of Harmony had decayed into dust.
All she had left was her throne, her kingdom, her crown...and herself. She was all alone now.
The castle of Canterlot had fallen into decay. No longer was it as shining as before, and it was now filled with cobwebs, cracks, and chips in the stonework.
But in her room was where the true horror lay. For Princess Celestia had gone mad from the isolation of being immortal. She had no one to turn to now, no friends or family to keep her company, or any more citizens to talk to.
In her loneliness, Celestia did the only thing she could think of doing to maintain her sanity: she dressed inanimate objects to resemble her former subjects and family. A broom was dressed in royal armor to resemble her old bodyguards. A tea set was dressed in royal gowns to look like the noble ponies of Canterlot.
Her throne room was a place that resembled a twisted parody of what once was. An old, broken mop represented her late sister Luna, who now 'sat' on her throne next to hers. She had even gone to the point of crafting crude pony figures and dressing them up to represent the friends she had known. Twilight Sparkle was a dressed-up old vase, Rainbow Dash was a rusted suit of armor and Pinkie Pie was an old music box that no longer worked.
The list went on. All these things were a reminder of her former life. A life now gone. It had long since ceased to be, as she had outlived every living being on this world. Not even Discord was left to give her company. No one was here. No one.
And thus, Princess Celestia had gone utterly and completely insane from her loneliness. Every day, she held royal courts, talking with the inanimate objects as if they were alive, believing them to be real.
"Oh, thank you all for coming to this year's Grand Galloping Gala!" Princess Celestia announced to her inanimate 'audience'. "It is my greatest honor to have you here tonight! I do hope you enjoy yourselves!" The alicorn then turned to her sister's throne. "Don't you think so, Lulu?"
She paused, waiting for a reply that she would never receive, before giving her best 'impression' of Luna's voice. "Of course, dear sister! It is indeed a great night for a great gala!"
Celestia nodded to the mop that was dressed in Luna's old clothes, with a wig on its handle to serve as the fake mane. She then looked towards the vase. "And you, Twilight? How does it feel to have been my greatest and most trusted friend for the past...centuries?" The princess then paused, as if waiting for a reply, before speaking again. "It has been a pleasure serving you, Princess. Your wisdom and guidance have helped me through my years at Canterlot."
She smiled to herself. Oh, Twilight had always known what to say to her. "And you, my little ponies? Do you not agree that this is a most splendid gala?" Celestia then paused before 'answering' for the objects she had dressed. "Oh, yes! We agree! The best there is!"
The alicorn then turned to the broken music box. "Ah, Pinkie Pie. It's always good to have you here! Your smile has brightened up my days, even in these trying times!" Celestia waited for an answer that would never come. She then gave her best 'impression' of the earth pony's bubbly voice. "Thank you, princess! I'll always do my best to keep smiling!"
Celestia gave a sigh. Oh, Pinkie. Even if the pony was gone, Celestia remembered her well. The mare was the only one who could have lifted the alicorn's spirits even in the worst of times. Celestia looked at the vase. "Tell me, Twilight Sparkle. What have you learned about the magic of friendship since my last lesson?"
Celestia paused, and then spoke in her best impression of Twilight's voice. "Well, princess... I've learned that friendship is like a flower. You need to water it, give it sunlight and nurture it for it to grow."
She nodded at her 'student's' wise words. Celestia's horn then glowed as she used her magic to move the vase's head in a nodding motion, and then proceeded to do the same with the other inanimate objects.
"Now then, let us enjoy this grand gala! For tonight is a night to remember!" She announced.
And thus, the night continued with the alicorn princess dancing, laughing, talking and feasting with her fake subjects and friends.
As the hours went by, and as midnight came to be, Celestia finally retired to her chambers. As she did so, the inanimate objects returned to their usual state. The brooms, teapots, armor, and other inanimate objects were now still, and the vase and the mop once more became just a vase and mop, without the disguises they had worn.
She kept at this for years. To the point where she would create her own conflict, using items to replicate enemies she once had, and using a pony figure that she made from scratch, she even created a character that represented her. It was almost as if the world of Equestria still existed in a twisted way.
She used a cheese wheel to replicate Chrysalis, an old, tattered book for Discord, an empty jar for Tirek...she had them 'invade' Canterlot and she would fight them back, just to feel something again. Anything, really.
But one day, after many, many years...
The cheese wheel and book were now covered in mold, while the jar was cracked and the mop and the vase were breaking down with age, as was everything else.
It was then and there, after all those years, that Celestia finally had a moment of clarity. She stared at her hooves as her mind slowly began to clear. She looked around, realizing what she had done all these years.
What...what had she been doing? How long had she been doing this? She saw the figures and dressed-up objects and realized how crazy she had gone. Celestia felt tears begin to stream down her face.
"Oh, what have I done?!" Celestia wailed. She looked around at her fake friends and subjects, sobbing and weeping. She looked to her sister's fake throne and the mop on it and broke down, her tears falling to the floor. She fell to the floor herself and began to cry uncontrollably, the reality of her situation hitting her like a ton of bricks. "I...I'm...alone. Truly alone...I...I..."
She kept weeping, and weeping. And no one was around to hear it, not anymore.
It took a while for Celestia to calm down. When she did, she wiped the tears away. Her eyes were now bloodshot, and her mane was disheveled and dirty. She had lost track of time. How many years had passed since the last pony passed? Since Luna passed?
"I need to let go," Celestia muttered, standing up and walking to the balcony of the throne room, looking out into the empty, desolate lands of Equestria. "I need to leave this place. Start anew somewhere else. I...I can't take it anymore!"
And with that, the sun alicorn took flight. She flew out from her balcony, not looking back, never looking back. She flew and flew, travelling across every part of the world, soon finding that not only was she the last pony of Equestria, but the last living being on this planet. No matter where she went, Celestia could not find a trace of anyone.
Eventually, she found a small cave on a mountaintop. There, she made her new home, a simple bed of grass and a small fire. The cave was empty and devoid of any life. But Celestia didn't mind. It was a place to call her own.
And there, the alicorn princess began to live out her days, all alone, with no one to turn to, no friends to talk to, no family to comfort her, no subjects to rule over.
All alone.
For the rest of her eternal life.
At least, that was the case back then.
As she mourned on top of the mountaintop, her magic began rising. In this universe, her magic was also tied to her emotions as well, causing it to rapidly rise to greater lengths. Never before has Celestia felt such sorrow in her life being so alone. And because of this, the amount of magic building up from within her was absolutely titanic. She didn't know what it would cause or do, but in the end, she didn't care.
As the magic continued to rise, a great burst of magical power was unleashed, blowing apart the mountains and the land surrounding the area for hundreds of miles in every direction. Celestia was sent hurtling into the sky from the sheer force, screaming out as her magic erupted from her in a great, blinding light that encompassed all of her being.
When it cleared, the magical outburst did something tremendous.
It opened up a hole in space-time, sucking the poor, immortal mare inside of it and transporting her to a dimension unknown. This dimension was known as the Greater Vastness. Where the All-Seeing resides. It was where and when the Sun Princess first found this cosmic being. A great black, single-eyed humanoid entity, with a white outline that looked to be an outline of the universe itself.
"W-Who...Who are you?" She questioned the cosmic entity.
"I see that you've managed to find my realm. Albeit by pure accident," the entity responded in a tone that suggested that he was amused by the situation.
"Please...Tell me your name," Celestia demanded, staring into the single eye of the being before her, feeling a sense of awe and wonder.
"My name is irrelevant. What matters is who I am." The entity paused before continuing, her eye staring at Celestia's soul, seeming to analyze her. "I see many things. Many outcomes old and new. This eye knows no bounds to what it can perceive and witness. And I can already see the grief that weighs you down."
"I am alone in this universe. Everyone I have ever loved and cared about is gone. My kingdom is in ruins, and I am the last one left." She replied, her voice filled with pain and sadness.
The being looked at Celestia with his singular eye, seeming to be deep in thought. "You wish for the world to be as it was?" The All-Seeing questioned, tilting her head in a questioning manner. "Or would you rather forget it ever existed?"
"What? No! I just... I just don't want to be alone anymore!" Celestia cried. "Please, please. Can you bring them back? Can you help me?" Celestia begged. "I will do anything. Anything!"
"Your wish is to have everyone return, and have the world as it once was?" the being questioned, as if to make sure it was right. Celestia nodded quickly in response, desperate for any chance of hope that was given.
"Yes. Yes! Please! Bring them back. I beg of you! Please! Please, I don't want to be alone anymore!"
"I can bring them back," The All-Seeing responded with a small, sinister smile on his face. "But it won't be like how you remembered them to be."
"What...What do you mean? What do I need to do?" Celestia asked, desperate and eager to do whatever it took to have her subjects and friends back. "Tell me. I'll do anything."
"Your world's magic has become abundant and overflowing to the point of it seeping into all that is around you. And with your powerful outburst, it has reached a breaking point, causing you to appear before me. But it was also the most emotional outburst you have ever had. That's what truly pushed you over the edge," the being explained. "It has caused your world to begin to tear asunder, and it is a ripe fruit to be plucked for what I have in mind. The process will cause your universe to reset and begin again from the start, but it will cause the ponies of your realm to undergo a metamorphosis into a superior form of pony."
"What is this 'superior form?'" Celestia questioned.
"In time, you will come to know of it," The All-Seeing cryptically responded. "All you must do to bring this to fruition is to give the okay for it to commence. I can reset your universe for you."
"What's the catch?" Celestia questioned, knowing full well that there had to be more to it.
"The world as you knew it will no longer be. While you may remember everything that had happened before, no one else will. And your world's magic will overflow to the point of causing changes to the world itself. It will be a different place from what it once was," The All-Seeing replied. "You will be alone, at least at the beginning of when you are born, but you won't be alone forever."
"I...I..." She hesitated. Could she really bring herself to go through with this?
"You won't have to be the last one again," The All-Seeing added.
"Okay." She agreed, finally. She couldn't stand to be alone again. Even if it meant the world would change, at least it would be better than nothing. "I'll do it. Bring everyone back. Bring my friends and subjects back to me. And reset my world. I don't care what it takes, I'll do it."
"Very well then. It will be so," the entity stated.
"But...Will they be happy? Will they have their own lives?" She asked. She wanted her subjects to be happy, even if it meant that she'd never see them again.
"Yes. They will be happy, and they will live as they choose. You won't be alone for long," the being responded.
Celestia paused for a moment before giving her final response. "Please. I want it. Let's do it," She said. "I want everyone back."
With that, in perfect unison, Celestia and the All-Seeing began their process to reset everything. Celestia's magic was so tremendous now that she had that kind of power that could match the All-Seeing's own. The Sun Princess let out a scream of pain as her body glowed brightly. Her magic surged and erupted, shooting off into space and reaching every planet in her universe, and even outside of it, to other universes that were not her own.
And in an instant, everything was changed. Her world was no more, and a new world was born in its place.
And now, in the place where Equestria had been, there was now a different world. A new world. One of magic. A world where the very air is saturated with it. The sky was filled with stars, and the sun shined bright. And there were alicorns as far as the eye could see, and the magic of this world flowed in and through every living creature, and the land itself. A new, better place. And Celestia's people, her friends, were reborn. And so, a new cycle has started, one of ultimate magic and a race that would never perish for what appeared to be eternity.
Present Day.
"So, I made that deal. Not only would I be reborn as someone else, but now, everypony would live as long as me. Of course, I just recently came into existence after generations had passed since I'm still a filly. I've got ways to go. My own magic is what caused everypony to become an alicorn even after I was born anew." Solar continued. "It was worth it. Now, I'll never be alone. And I'll have my precious Raleigh next to me~"
"N-No way..." Twilight was stunned by what she had just heard, her eyes wide. She could hardly believe what Solar was telling her. It all added up. "But then, you allowed them to experiment on other ponies?!"
"That's not my doing. That's just the way they are. They decided to do it, not me." Solar shrugged.
"But they're all connected to your magic, aren't they? You're the reason for this existence."
"I helped remake it. I'm not responsible for everything else. Besides...I just don't care. If I were Celestia again, maybe I would, but I just don't. It's not my problem and it never will be. And I never want it to be, even after I become the Empress one day." Solar continued. "This universe is built around me and bends to my will, so I never have to worry about a thing. It will be the way I want it to be, and if not, then I will force it to."
Twilight stared in disbelief. She didn't know what to think about all of this. Solar was so powerful, yet so uncaring and detached from reality, yet she had been the one to end it all. "Oh, Princess Celestia..." She felt bad, knowing what Celestia had to go through. Raleigh understood Solar better now. Why she was so obsessed with him was all clear now.
Solar refuses to be lonely anymore.
"I told you not to call me that." Solar scoffed. "Solar is who I am and who I will always be."
"Right...Solar..." Twilight said. She sighed and looked away, deep in thought. "But listen. I used to exist back before all of this was reset, right? I was still your student. Your friend. You recognize me, don't you? You recognize Applejack too, right? You must have recognized others as well?"
"Of course. But it doesn't matter, really." Solar said. "I haven't seen the version of you in this universe yet. Either she hasn't been born yet or she's actually older than me and lives somewhere else. Either way, you're not my Twilight. You're from another universe. So it doesn't matter to me."
"I see..." Twilight closed her eyes, pausing for a moment. "In that case, I don't have to worry about much either!" During that entire speech about her past and such, Twilight had enough time to break free, using her built-up magic to shatter Solar's spell, which had been keeping her in place.
"W-What?!" Solar exclaimed. Twilight broke free! How did that happen?! "How did you..."
"It doesn't matter. I have to save everyone now! I'm sorry, Solar!" Twilight exclaimed. She had to act now. She didn't have a moment to spare. With a mighty burst of magical energy, she teleported herself out of the area and to the main entrance of the building. But she also made sure to put her magic around Raleigh, dragging him along while Absol carried Applejack on his back.
"Ngh...!" Solar grumbled, getting up and wiping some blood off of her cheek. "She got me..." She mumbled. "Oh, I'm not going to let that slide. You better prepare yourself, Twilight..." She then followed Twilight, flying off to catch her. "You don't get to just leave me behind! We're not done here!"
The two then raced to the entrance, where they were soon met by many soldiers and guards. "Halt! Stop right there!" They shouted.
"Stand aside." Twilight commanded. She didn't have time for this. "You're in my way."
Twilight was ready to blow past all of them with nothing held back. The same went for Absol. However, the coming action was soon stopped by the footsteps that followed. Twilight heard unusual sounds approach. Sounds that seemingly shouldn't exist in this universe since it was so pony-centric.
They sounded like human shoes.
Everypony else turned their head, hearing this sound while also feeling a rather intimidating presence approaching from behind. And once they all looked, Twilight and Raleigh instantly noticed who it was.
It was Alpha.
"The Arcane Institute...they're here as well?!" Twilight exclaimed. Just when her problems couldn't get any worse, the Arcane Institute had gotten involved as well. Albeit a smaller team than before. But just because they were much smaller, didn't make them any less intimidating. Not one bit.
Alpha wasn't here for Twilight Sparkle, but she wouldn't mind recapturing her, making it a 2-for-1. With the Institute now involved, not only would it put a lot of workload on Twilight, but also on the Ultaylsium Dynasty, who had no idea the kind of ferocity that had just entered their universe.
As the journey continues.
