My Little Pokémon: Grander World
Skipping an Adventure
Previous ChapterNext ChapterEquestria. Ponyville. PokePark. Day.
The morning sun rose above the clouds, casting its warm light over a peaceful land.
Each of Twilight's Pokemon were resting in the PokePark, prompting Twilight to ensure that they were all doing well. She's been absent for a while and wanted to make sure her Pokemon were alright. She appeared before many of them, starting with Cove Town where she met up with the Pokemon that live here.
"Good morning..." Twilight yawned when walking into the Cove Town with Eve, who was currently rubbing against her leg. Various Pokemon such as Audino, Pansage, Pidove, Meowth, Bisharp and his Pawniard Troops, Volbeat and Illumise, Cleffa, Venonat, Slakoth, Tympole, Pansear and Dewott approached to say hello to their Trainer, missing her dearly. She waved and said hi back. Some of them got close to give her a warm welcome. They missed her greatly during her absence and they wished to spend time with her.
"Aww... I missed all of you too." She crouched and allowed them all to hug her.
She moved on ahead, taking care of more of the Pokepark. She hasn't fed them in a while, leaving most of it up to Starlight Glimmer. But she was happy to do this again, even though she felt guilty about leaving for a long time. Along the way, she was greeted by more Pokemon. Minun, Magnemite, Sandshrew, Cubone, Misdreavus, Scyther and Whimsicott greeted the princess excitedly, happy to see their Trainer back.
This continued throughout the day, meeting various other Pokemon she took care of such as Mawile, Torchic, Lilligant, Vaporeon, Emolga, Goldeen and many others Pokemon. Eventually, she ran into Pidgey who came soaring down and landed on Twilight's head to nuzzle her lovingly, followed by some others: Togepi, Froakye, Lucario, Dragonair, Houndour, Spewpa and Scizor.
Just seeing them all again relieved Twilight. "Alright. Time to eat." Using her magic, she dragged a huge array of food for her Pokemon and laid them out before them, allowing them to eat. She always knew which Pokemon liked what, mainly thanks to the books she'd read up on and some information from Fluttershy.
Once the food was laid out, the Pokemon went wild, eating as much as they wanted to. From meat, fruit, vegetables, Pokeblocks, Berries and many others, each Pokemon took whatever suited their tastes, eating it happily.
All of her Pokemon were pleased to have her back. She couldn't blame them, as she didn't come back after a long time. They looked tired of Starlight Glimmer giving them the food when they should appreciate the work she does. But she wasn't Twilight, and these Pokemon had a deeper connection with her than with the Unicorn. Maybe she could get Spike to feed the Pokemon... At least then they'd probably appreciate someone other than her...
Sometime later, Twilight flew across the skies to continue to another area of the Park, being greeted by her flying Pokemon. A massive Flygon carrying an equally massive tray of pastries soared past her, followed by Staraptor, Beedrill and Beautifly. Behind her, three Ninjask shot by at incredible speeds.
As they all passed her by, Twilight made the landing on solid ground and looked behind her as her flying Pokemon zoomed around her, feeling glad that she had returned. Even as a Princess, she found that they needed to stay here to thrive well.
Eventually, Twilight made it into an area where she would see her Bug Type Pokemon who were either taking a swim, lazing about or chatting amongst themselves. Butterfree, Silcoon, Dwebble, Sewaddle, Heracross and Joltik waved to Twilight as they chatted with each other or carried on with their activities.
Twilight realized that she may have spent far too much time away and needed to reconnect with her Pokemon. "I don't hang out with you all as much, I realize. I'm always busy, either as the Pokemon School's Principal, the Princess of Friendship and even more recently, the leader of One Light. I know, I know, excuses, excuses, but I truly feel bad about being gone for so long. What kind of Trainer would I be if I just let my Pokemon sit here and barely give attention to them?" She asked. The Bug types she owned approached her as if to answer her question. "My first real day back at home, I want to do nothing but relax with everyone. With all of you."
They all gathered around to spend time with their trainer who left for what seemed like ages.
One by one, she saw each type of Pokemon she owned from Flying to Steel Types. They were all so happy to see her that she could tell the isolation was getting to them. While some weren't as lonely, others felt distant from their trainer, considering she was away for so long.
Before she knew it, she found herself heading off to Crag Area to meet her more rugged Pokemon Pokemon and any other Rock and Ground Type that lived there. For them, she had plenty of gems for them to eat.
After entering, she noticed all of the Pokemon getting ready for something big. She gasped when she saw a huge stage made out of rocks and stones. Sawk, Machamp, Sudowoodo, Magcargo and Golem were working together to build the stage as fast as possible. Nearby, some Pokemon such as Stunfisk, Rampardos, Drilbur, Onix and Graveler were lying back to watch the stage be built.
Eve looked in confusion as she watched these events unfold. But none were as confused as the Princess herself.
"What is happening?" Twilight asked with genuine curiosity. "Are you guys building a new attraction?" She questioned this, unaware of their motives.
"Em! Emboar!" The Emboar that lived here spoke to Twilight before moving a few boulders together on stage and pointing to each seat he made on top.
Suddenly, all of her Pokemon were looking at her and pushing her into the seat.
"W-Wait! Wait! Stop!" She cried. Once she was in place, she stared at all the Pokemon with confusion.
Finally, she realized something and asked Emboar about this situation. "Is this a celebration because I've returned? Oh, it's sweet guys, but you didn't have to do this!"
Emboar grinned widely with confidence, greatly proud of himself. After checking out the stage, Twilight flew off to the next area in the PokePark. The Tech Area.
Various Steel types welcomed their trainer, from Klang to Aron to Magneton. Metagross even walked over to greet her, happy to see Twilight again. The princess flew by and made her way to another part of the Tech Sector, passing a couple of Solosis.
Her Steel types were happy to have her back, especially since a lot of them hadn't seen her in months. She promised she'd be with them shortly to do something fun as she went to see some of her Normal and Poison types as they were resting.
As soon as she entered a grassy field, she was greeted by Porygon2, Cinccino, Azumarill, Skitty, Marowak, Watchhog, Nidorina and Klefki. They all gave their hellos and wanted to give her love right away, rushing over to crowd the Princess of Friendship, pressing their bodies against her.
"Okay! You guys!" Twilight laughed at all the attention she received, struggling to walk away from them. The normal and poison types eventually parted to allow Twilight to go through. Finally, she arrived in an area where many different Fairy Types lived. Upon noticing their Trainer approaching, they rushed to swarm her and expressed joy at seeing Twilight yet again.
"Everyone!" Twilight shouted as more Pokemon crowded her. Suddenly, a Zoroark, Stoutland and Persian began running towards the Princess of Friendship.
The three tackled Twilight, causing her to fall and giggle from all the fun she had already. She's never felt so much love coming from one specific group before; perhaps due to how long they've been separated from her and wanting to keep her around forever now.
"Ack! Guys! Let me breathe!" Twilight wheezed between breaths. Thankfully, she managed to stand upright without anyone tripping her. All her Pokemon jumped and leapt high into the air excitedly. After calming down slightly, Twilight proceeded through the remainder of the Pokepark.
Every single Pokemon in the park was ecstatic to see the Princess again, almost tackling her repeatedly every single time. Several times they try to stop her progress temporarily. Each encounter made Twilight's heart swell up with joy knowing these creatures cared deeply for her wellbeing enough to show affection towards her after spending such little time apart from one another anymore ever since becoming famous across Equestria itself.
Eventually, she would stop at the Arbor Area, lying down on the beautiful grass patch. She needed it, seeing how exhausted she was.
"That..." Panting heavily. "...was exhausting! I-I need... Rest..."
Slowpoke waddled towards Twilight curiously, standing near her before lying beside the pony princess. Smiling gently, the Princess cuddled Slowpoke and fell asleep with him quickly. Many of the grass Pokemon would then follow suit, gathering around her sleeping figure in the middle of the park, and falling asleep alongside her.
The Pokemon House.
A similar situation was happening with Fluttershy at her Pokemon House. Upon returning to her massive sanctuary, all the Pokemon there swarmed the pegasus and knocked her over, licking and hugging her.
"Skitty! Stop! It tickles! Y-You too, Mightyena!" She giggled cutely when receiving love from all of them.
Other Pokemon swarmed her as she lay there, including Simipour, Furfrou, Roselia and so on, surrounding the timid Pegasus as if they refused to let her go anywhere else. "Sorry for the constant disappearances. I'll make it up to all of you."
Since Twilight and Fluttershy both had the most amount of Pokemon out of anyone in Equestria, they had a lot of work to do. But it was work they were more than willing to handle.
The Human World.
But away from Ponyville. Away from Equestria as a whole, other things were transpiring in the world opposite to it.
In the local city of Canterlot, a recent facility had been installed, one that would bring the Pokemon League to this world. Compared to the world opposite to it which has a plethora of leagues and regions already used to Pokemon, the Human World was a bit behind.
Having the Pokemon introduced to them much later certainly caused them to fall behind on a lot of things, but they have been quick to adapt. As such, new Gyms have started to open to prepare the future Gym Leaders and the current batch. In a few years, the region would become the next league to enter the league roster and the champion of that league would face the champions of the other league. However, that wouldn't be the case just yet. Not until a Champion was chosen, and not unless the gyms were properly set up and ready to go.
"Oooh..." Sci-Twi took a gander at the facility, getting a first-look at how Pokemon Leagues are even set-up and established. "Amazing!"
"I'll say. So this is what the beginning stages look like, eh? Wonder what the League looks like in a decade or two." Human Pinkie Pie added. Currently, the Humen Counterparts of the Mane Six had been visiting the new league to check out what was in store for the Human World.
Already, Pokemon have largely integrated and became popular among the people, and the league was in its early days of development, needing to choose their first league Champion. However, it is a choice that can only be made when the gyms are finished, the gym leaders are chosen, and an event takes place to decide who will become the Elite Four, and finally the champion. As a treat, the humans would get a chance to witness a battle in a stadium, courtesy of the one who helped set this up.
In this case, it was Professor Oak.
"Professor Oak!" Sci-Twi called out to him.
"Ah. If it isn't my assistant." Professor Oak waved. He was here to supervise the establishment and construction of the Pokemon League, along with many others from various other regions.
"You're here as well?" Sci-Twi asked.
"Mhm. They called me along with others to come over and help with the construction of the League. I have enough time to kill for that. To be honest, I've never actually been involved with League Creations. How exciting!" Oak laughed.
"How is everything coming along? Did they manage to find any suitable locations to create a league?"
"We have a couple of places in mind. Right now, we're going through the motions of planning the designs for each gym. Once we've figured out the gyms, then the rest will follow." Professor Oak replied, guiding them around the site of the building. He pointed to the plans and sketches. "These will be the gyms that'll be constructed, and they'll determine the location and layout of the gyms."
"Whoa! That's so cool!" Applejack exclaimed in amazement. Her friends agreed enthusiastically, nodding their heads in unison. This is the kind of stuff that would change the Human World. "I bet y'all're excited 'bout this, huh, guys?"
"I'm soooo gonna sign up for a gym challenge, and win the league too, while I'm at it." Rainbow Dash said, flexing her arms and smirking.
"Rainbow, we'll literally just start the first gym challenges." Rarity reminded. "And you'd have to raise your Pokemon from level one to fifty, maybe a hundred to even be a decent trainer, and a good five to ten years before the league opens." She sighed and shook her head. "It's a process that's very time-consuming and a journey that's filled with its ups and downs."
"Yeah, yeah. I got it." Rainbow scoffed dismissively. She looked at the designs and examined the layouts of the gyms. "So... Who's gonna be the Gym Leaders?"
"That's not entirely decided yet." Professor Oak answered. "For now, we'll have a couple of stand-in trainers. And in the next couple of years, we'll have a competition. Whoever can prove to the Pokemon League Board of Directors can have a chance at being a Gym Leader. Or, should they have someone in mind, a Gym leader will be chosen."
"Wait... But what about the Elite Four? Can't they become gym leaders, and vice versa?" Sci-Twi questioned the professor. Her human counterparts agreed with her and wondered why the positions couldn't just be switched between the four elites and the gym leaders, making things easier. Surely, the strongest of the trainers can become the gym leader or the Elite Four. Right?
"Yes, but not in this case. You see, the Elite Four are the final challenge before the Champion is fought. To put it in simple terms, they are the ones who will fight challengers who have obtained all the badges from the Gyms in a given region. Their role is to ensure the challenger truly earned their spot, and test their skill and knowledge." He explained.
"I'm actually knowledgable in this, obviously." Sunset proudly said, tapping her head. "That is the purpose of an elite 4, and a Gym is where you can obtain the badges. Only Eight trainers, usually those of incredible skill and status, are capable of being a gym leader.
"Well put, Sunset." said Oak. "Anyone from the average Joe, to the most famous celebrities can become a gym leader. And from there, a Gym Challenge is held in order for a trainer to collect badges. These eight badges are a requirement in order to challenge the Elite 4, and eventually, the Champion. Thus, the cycle continues. With that, we'll see the rise of powerful Trainers."
The human girls nodded and smiled, realizing that this was an important part of the Pokémon World and its history. They were eager to participate in it, hoping to learn more about their favorite franchise and the games they played growing up.
"Now, then. We've had enough talking." Professor Oak led them to the stands, where a battlefield stood. A battle was taking place on the field. Two Trainers were locked in an intense duel. One, a male teen, and the other, a young woman. They both were commanding their Pokemon with great intensity.
The female trainer sent forth a Vaporeon while the male opponent called upon his Magmar. Both were commanded to unleash their attacks simultaneously, resulting in an epic clash of elemental forces that created an impressive display of power and spectacle for all present. After exchanging several blows back-and-forth between each other's respective sides, the victor emerged victorious after delivering a devastating finishing blow that left its adversary defeated and sprawled upon the ground unconscious.
"So, are you any of you thinking of fulfilling that role?"
"Oh, no thank you." Rarity politely turned the idea down, finding the whole thing to be too troublesome. "It seems rather taxing on one's free time and schedule. Plus, it's quite dangerous to boot. I'm sorry, dearie, but that's simply not the life for moi. Maybe if I had the time, or was still in college. I can't imagine myself in that sort of situation, especially if I have to dedicate so much of myself to such an ordeal."
"Well, I mean..." Sci-Twi pondered. "It's not a terrible prospect, honestly. I think being able to lead a gym would probably be an experience that will teach me a lot about being a leader and managing a team of gym trainers. At least, if I have a say in hiring them, that is." She added, rubbing the chin. "But I'd much prefer just being a Pokemon Researcher. What about you, Rainbow Dash? You'd totally do this, right?" She turned to the jockette.
"Nah." But she turned it down instantly. "Being tied down to the gym and waiting on some loser to show up to the challenge doesn't sound fun at all." She smirked. "Besides, that'd be way too boring, anyway. Sitting around doing nothing? Sounds lame to me."
"No?" Sci-Twi blurted. "Why wouldn't you want that? It's a huge honour."
"Eh, I'd rather just keep travelling and challenging people to fights. Besides, the gyms are mostly stationary." She said. "I'll stick to my travels and battling random people."
"Travelling the world...?" Fluttershy had something different in mind. When Rainbow Dash mentioned travels, she thought about the concept of going from place to place, mand eeting new Pokemon. That's what Ash did and Fluttershy would absolutely love that kind of opportunity. Helping Pokemon in a variety of locations would really benefit her, especially as someone studying to become a doctor in that specific field.
"I'll probably just keep doing what I do." Applejack didn't have anything big in mind. She just wanted to work on what she already knew.
"Well, some of you already have it figured out." Oak smiled. "That's great. Knowing that you have something in mind is always a wonderful thing, and will give you something to look forward to in life."
"I wanna join in a gym battle, and win, and make lots of food for the Pokemon to eat! Like, tons of treats and sweets and candies!" Pinkie Pie declared. She grinned happily at the idea of making delicious desserts and goodies for the cute critters that inhabited the land of Kanto. "We'll throw a huge party, and everyone will have a blast eating the cakes and cupcakes we'll bake!"
"I'm already a Gym Leader in Equestria, so I have nothing to say." Sunset shrugged it off. "Did you tell Ash about this, Twilight?"
"Mhm? He had a rough day yesterday it sounds like. So I figured I'd call him to cheer him up. I've never actually done something like that. Usually, he's the one cheering me up."
"Because you liiiiike him!" Sunset and Pinkie Pie teased, holding Sci-Twi's shoulders and wobbling her. Sci-Twi, in turn, grew flustered and shyly looked away.
"K-Knock it off!" She laughed while appearing flustered, her face flushed bright red. "S-Sure, I may have a crush on him. Big deal."
Kanto. Pallet Town. Ketchum Household. Afternoon.
As for Ash himself, the trainer was sitting in bed with his Pokemon. Pikachu was sleeping next to him. Gengar and Lucario rested at his feet, snoring softly. Dragonite sat beside the window, basking in the sun. All of them were resting. In his hand was his phone, having called Sci-Twi. As usual, he had the tendency to be the upbeat one and try to make her feel better.
But in a reverse of roles, Sci-Twi was calling him to try and lift his spirits, knowing he needed it more. Yesterday was a hard day for him and the rest of the gang, and he needed to take a breather. Not only that, the events of the last two days had been a bit much and had left him feeling a bit drained. But, thanks to Sci-Twi's help and his friends' support, everything turned out alright in the end.
However, Ash was too tired, deciding to sleep-in for today. "Maybe later...Right now...I need to catch up for lost time..."
"Feeling comfortable?" Delia took a peek, opening the door slowly and poking her head inside to check on him and his Pokemon, before entering fully and approaching the bed. She took a seat and smiled at him. "I heard from your friends that yesterday was very hard on you. Especially to your Soul. I know, the past few weeks haven't exactly been smooth sailing. And I get the sense that it's all piling up." Delia said. She rubbed his hair. "A little break wouldn't hurt you, and if you want."
"Yeah." He chuckled, agreeing with her words. His mother had always seen through his attempts at hiding his pain and discomfort from her, which made things easier for her to understand him.
Even though he could hide behind a cheerful facade, she knew when her son was struggling underneath his smiley exterior. That's why, whenever she noticed this, she'd offer her advice, wisdom and love to him. To make matters simpler and help ease his burdens. Because at times, even the greatest of heroes need a shoulder to lean on.
Of course, Delia was also doing this to slow down the emergence of Prisma. Having Ash take it easy was an approach that she believed would do the trick. As long as Ash isn't riled up by anything to a certain degree, Prisma's soul will stay hidden.
But Ash was also an expert at overcoming these struggles. Whether by himself or by those around him. So with a smile on his face, he would doze off, deciding that today without an adventure would be fine. And possibly the next day, and maybe the day after that.
Nightfall.
And as the day passed, eventually reaching into the night, Pallet Town was completely asleep. Or, at least, that was the belief. There were still a couple of folks who remained active for a little while.
Delia was fast asleep, resting peacefully without anything bothering her. Aside from the wellbeing of her own son. She had such a peaceful look on her face as always. However, while resting peacefully, something happened. Not exactly within her dream.
But in her own mind.
Delia's eyes awoke in her own Mindscape, noticing that she was no longer in her room, or her bed. Instead, she was standing on top of a large cloud that seemed to stretch forever. Above and below her was a clear sky. No matter which way she looked, the endless blue of space stretched before her eyes. Everything else around her appeared empty, void and colourless, leaving no trace of life anywhere nearby. Her vision shifted towards another direction where a light shone brightly ahead. Slowly walking closer, she saw the source of the illumination.
And upon getting closer and closer, that's when she saw him for the first time. She's only heard of him but never seen him once. Now, Delia Ketchum was coming face to face with the man within her own Son.
Prisma.
"Who...are you...?" Delia's eyes widened. And the longer she looked at him, she saw the resemblance between Prisma and her son. "Y-You're..."
As the journey continues.
