The Boys in Red and Blue
Alola. Melemele Island. Hau'oli City. Night.
At Alola's Hau'oli City, despite a few people haven been awakened, they were still relatively a problem. For one major reason. All those who used to be from Unilight knew magic. This meant that all humans had magic at their disposal, retaining what they knew when they lived in Unilight. While their memories are mostly blank, they are able to call upon the magic that had been a part of their lives for a very long time.
They were firing at the citizens who they knew to be members of One Light, using a variety of spells to restrain them. People would scream and scatter, trying to flee the scene, but the awakened would pursue. And technically, practically a majority of Alola was a part of One Light, everyone in support of Ash and his counterparts.
"How did we not see this coming? I didn't think others would be at risk of having their souls waking up." Hala commented. "So it's not just Ash and Twilight?"
"Even though it's only a few of them, the fact that they have access to magic makes things tricky. If we don't hurry, one of them could leave the island and join up with their Queen." Olivia responded, helping someone up after their home had been damaged by an awakened Pokemon. The magic was a problem, yes, but some Pokemon used to live in Unilight and were naturally loyal to Twilight Luminaria.
"Magic or not, we have a way around them, don't we?" Kukui pointed out, raising a finger. "The Aether Foundation already has something cooking up for any magical issues. Granted, it was mainly supposed to be for the Arcane Institute, but this'll work too."
"There you are!" One of the awakened members creeped out of the corner, eyeing down the trio. "I was looking for you three. You have a lot of information about One Light, don't you? Share it with us..." He said as more of them would appear from the corners, all of them wielding wands or staffs.
Items obviously returned, appearing with those that awakened. Naturally, they remembered exactly how to use them. The people in question didn't seem to be slouches when it came to magic, having quite the experience on them. Their outfits were a little different from their usual attire, looking more like the clothing of the Unilight residents, and their hair was slightly longer, their facial features a bit more angular and defined.
Hala, Olivia and Professor Kukui looked at the crowd of awakened. There were at least 20 of them, all of them with either a wand, staff or just a magical aura in their hand. They were definitely outnumbered, and they didn't have enough time to waste fighting.
"You won't get a word out of me." Kuki wagged his finger while smiling, refusing to speak on anything relating to One Light. "Can't you bringing harm to Ash in any way."
"You'd seriously keep him safe? What is wrong with you all?" One Unilight Citizen couldn't wrap her head around it. Why would they choose to defend him knowing the being that was resting witihin him? She was completely dumbfounded.
"You know why. But I suppose since you all aren't the people we know, you wouldn't understand why we'd do everything we can to protect him. Even if he's capable of protecting himself." Hala explained.
"Nonsense. Our entire home was ruined because of him. How could we ever forgive or forget that? He laid waste to every single region and land in the world! Obviously, you wouldn't know since you all don't seem to be awakened. Meaning, you were never there to begin with."
"You're right. We weren't." Kukui shrugged. "What happened to your home was a shame. But it doesn't change how we feel about Ash. Even if the whole world's against him, you'd best believe we'll be there for him."
The Awakened Citizens of Unilight blinked in absolute confusion. They saw this as crazy talk. All they wanted was payback and justice for what Prisma did, so what Kukui and others were saying didn't make sense to them or was just pointless..
"Fine then. You won't be saying that once our spell finishes." One citizen said with a smirk. "Right now, many of us have already passively cast a spell on the entireity of Alola. A barrier has formed, surrounding the islands and keeping everyone trapped within. Not only that, the spell will help our Pokemon tap into their hidden potential."
"Hidden potential, you say?" Hala repeated.
"Oh, yes. Back in Unilight, we were all capable of easily drawing out the fullest extent of a Pokemon's power. It was a technique that could only be performed by those who are experienced with magic. Some of Unilight's finest! And when the Pokemon's inner potential is unleashed, they will undergo a transformation that increases their power exponentially. They even take on new forms, evolving beyond what is normal." The same resident spoke, explaining their capabilities. "We're going to unleash all the Pokemon's full powers, allowing them to transform into beasts of war that will allow us to fully defeat Prisma!"
"A form that's greater than Mega Evolution, or a Form that can surpass a Z-Move." Kukui narrowed his gaze. This was a troubling development indeed. In the midst of the battle, the residents were also casting a spell to give themselves an advantage. They had to be stopped before their plan was fully realized. "Not bad...But the question is...will it go off in time?"
"What do you mean? Of course it will!" One Unilight resident shouted.
"Hm? I don't think they'll let it happen." Kukui nudged his head, averting them to look up in the sky, where eight figures descended. It was Ash, Red, Ethan, Brendan, Lucas, Hilbert, Calem, and Nate.
Currently, they were reach riding on their specific Pokemon to get them through the air. Ash and his Pikachu were on Dragonite, Red on his Charizard, Ethan on a Ho-oh, Brendan and his Latios, Lucas and Togekiss, Hilbert, who was just floating as a spirit next to Ash, Calem and his Talonflame and lastly, Nate on his Braviary.
"I-It's them!" One Unilight Citizens gasped, seeing how each of them resembled Prisma only by face structure. They knew that face anywhere. That was the man who caused the destruction of the entire world.
They flew overhead, already knowing what to do as they could spot the spell that was occurring. They were heading to the center of the island, to stop the spell from completing itself. Hau'oli was the central city of Melemele Island, and the largest city in Alola, and so the center of the Islands, the place that the spell would've originated from. If that's where the spell started, that's where the spell would end.
"Oh, yeah! I see it!" Ash exclaimed when eyeing down the spell, which was starting to build up more and more, becoming more clearer each passing moment. "Each of the counterparts had their Pokemon ready, preparing a massive attack to fire at the source of the magic.
"Dragonite, use Draco Meteor!"
Dragonite, Charizard, Ho-Oh, Latios, Togekiss, Talonflame and Braviary began charging up their attacks. Each of them would combine their respective moves, aiming it at the ground below. Dragonite and Charizard would prepare a Hurricane and Flamethrower, Ho-Oh would use a Sacred Fire, Latios would unleash a powerful Luster Purge, Togekiss would use a Sky Attack, Talonflame would use a Flare Blitz, and Braviary would use a Brave Bird.
The moves would swirl together, combining to become a gigantic beam of flames and wind. Once the attack had been fired, it'd crash straight into the center of the magical formation that had appeared, cutting off the flow of energy that was sustaining the barrier. Immediately, the spell dissipated, and the glow faded. Suddenly, a loud sound was heard as a wave of energy washed over the area. As soon as that occurred, the barrier that was around the islands disappeared, meaning the counter-spell worked.
"T-That quickly?!" One of the casters gasped, in absolute shock at how easily the spell was destroyed. It didn't even have enough time to reach a strong enough point. Just like that, it was gone. The attack was strong enough to break the spell and send it crashing into the ocean, leaving the residents of Unilight in shock and awe. Their plan to draw out a Pokemons' maximum potential had failed. They had underestimated the power of the heroes, and now their hopes were dashed. With their barrier gone and the power of the heroes on display, the fight was over before it had truly begun. Now, they were vulnerable to attack from both sides, and their chances of success were diminishing rapidly.
Ash and his counterparts all descended with their respective Pokemon, making landfall and appearing before the Awakened Citizens of Unilight. They were absolutely stunned, not able to believe their eyes. These were the exact faces of the man responsible for the end of their home, the ruination of their worlds, and the destruction of everything they've ever known.
"You guys are messing with my friends..." Ash spoke upon getting off Dragonite, staring at them all with narrowed eyes. He was clearly upset. "No matter what the reason, I won't let you hurt them anymore."
"It'll be our first time working as a unit." Lucas stretched his arm. "Destroying that spell was just the start. Why don't we show them all what we can really do?"
"..." Red agreed silently, stepping forward.
"You...!" One citizen snarled at the counterparts, seeing nothing but red. Pure rage was boiling within as these Unilight Citizens would face the counterparts.
"They all aren't Prisma yet. So if we beat them here, we can prevent Prisma from fully returning." Another added, believing they could take Prisma out before he potentially returns and reaches his best. They all saw each of these counterparts as weaker versions of him, lacking his true strength.
"Get them, Claydol! Use Psychic!" One of the trainers commanded to their psychic-type, who used a move to attack the counterparts.
"Dol!" Claydol's eyes lit up, ready to restrain them all.
"Quick Attack!"
"Pika!" Pikachu was the first to attack, meaning Ash would kick things off. Moving at lightning speeds, the electric mouse ran towards Claydol and slammed into the Pokémon, knocking it back and cancelling the Psychic attack.
"Ho-oh! Use Ancient Power!" Ethan shouted. A ghost ball of pure, golden energy was charged and fired from Ho-oh, and it struck Claydol, pushing it back by bombarding it with rocks.
"C-Clay!"
"Gallade! Slash!" Another Unilight Citizen ordered as Claydol flew past her.
"Gal!" Gallade moved in next, leaping into the air and swinging its arms to strike at the counterparts. However, it was suddenly grabbed from behind by another one of their own Pokemon, Charizard. The flame lizard roared, tightening his grip on Gallade's arms and keeping the blades away from himself.
"Char!"
"G-Gal?!"
Gallade struggled in the grasp, attempting to pull itself free, but it couldn't. The two were evenly matched in terms of raw power, and neither could move the other an inch. Despite this, Gallade could not break loose of its hold, even as it strained its muscles and tried to slash at the beast. Eventually, the strain became too much, as Charizard would then use Flamethrower at point blank range, burning the fighting type. Gallade screamed in pain, being scorched by the intense heat.
Charizard then tossed Gallade away, sending him crashing into Claydol, both of whom were knocked unconscious from the impact.
"Toxapex! Use Poison Jab!" Another trainer ordered. Toxapex's tentacles glowed a poisonous purple, and the creature prepared to launch an assault, lashing its limbs at the 9.
"Latios, use Ice Beam!" Brendan bellowed, pointing at the oncoming Pokemon. Latios would respond, unleashing a chilly ray of frost at the Pokemon, freezing the water/posion type. This created a thick sheet of ice that instantly formed around its body, rendering the Toxapex immobile and unable to continue the fight. It was unable to break out of the ice that covered its entire form, and soon lost consciousness, defeated.
"Wha-?!"
"Use Hyper Beam on them, Solrock!" Another one of the residents exclaimed, their voice rising in a panicked tone. The Solrock opened its mouth, firing a blast of orange light. But, Lucas would have something to say about that. Before the beam could connect, Togekiss would swoop in, blocking the attack from reaching the counterparts and using Aura Sphere to counterattack. The resulting clash caused an explosion that rocked the area, sending both the Togekiss and the Solrock flying backwards.
"Solro-"
"TOGE!"
"Hitmontop, Triple Kick!" Another trainer demanded. Hitmontop came charging forward, leaping and spinning in mid-air, ready to deliver a powerful triple kick to the group.
Unfortunately for the fighting-type, that was his downfall. From behind, a massive shadow emerged, looming above the unsuspecting Pokemon. A powerful wing attack from Talonflame crashed down, delivering a devastating blow. The force of the impact sent the Hitmontop spiraling through the air, crashing to the ground in a dazed state. Unable to recover, the fighting-type was swiftly taken out of the battle, his efforts to no avail. "H-How-?" That Unilight Resident was completely floored, seeing her Pokemon fall so easily and quickly to a foe that had no business defeating her partner.
"B-But-"
"How are they-"
"Go, Talonflame! Use Brave Bird!"
"Talon!" Talonflame cawed loudly, flying upwards, and his entire form started to glow, becoming engulfed in a golden aura. With incredible speed and accuracy, he descended upon the battlefield, his talons gleaming in the sunlight. As he dove downwards, his wings flapping furiously, a trail of brilliant feathers followed him.
With a mighty cry, he unleashed a powerful move, a combination of his wings and his beak, that sent shockwaves reverberating throughout the arena.
"Tyrantrum, stop that bird!" Another trainer from Unilight commanded.
"Tyran!" Tyrantrum roared, charging at the flying bird. He lunged, his sharp claws and teeth ready to tear apart the avian, but suddenly, he was caught off guard by a fiery blast that slammed into his side, sending him tumbling to the ground. "Rantrum?!"
Ho-oh screeched, having blasted the rock-dragon type. The dual-type was in the process of recovering, but was still in the fight, getting to his feet. However, the Ho-oh had no intention of letting him escape, and the legendary shot another blast of Sacred Fire, finishing him off and knocking him unconscious.
"Dragon Claw!" Ash exclaimed while Red pointed forward, not saying anything but having his Charizard go for the same move.
"Drago!" Both Charizard and Dragonite would take off, roaring and moving in on the rest of the Unilight Residents. Their claws extended, the draconic powers enhancing them, turning the appendages a bright green. They slashed at the opposing Pokemon, tearing through the ranks of the opposition.
Any Pokemon that came their way was promptly overpowered by the duo. Charizard and Dragonite would easily slash away at all the opposing Pokemon that approached, masterfully using their claws to slice through their foes. Even when the odds were against them, they were able to outpace and overpower them. Each strike was precise, and each maneuver was calculated. The opponents were no match for the combined might of the two dragon-like beasts.
"W-What's going on?!" One Unilight Resident was confused at how powerful they were. They all believed that since Prisma wasn't fully back, these reincarnations would be much weaker than him and would be easier to deal with. But the opposite was happening. Instead, the Unilight Residents were finding themselves outclassed and outmatched. "They're supposed to be easy pickings...but they're so strong!"
The others were in disbelief at their strength. It was unreal. The power on display was immense, and the sheer destructive potential was staggering. How were they losing to these counterparts, who were not yet the full embodiment of their former enemy, the destroyer of worlds?
"Let's finish this!" Ash shouted to everyone else. The counterparts nodded. Together, they had their Pokemon all charge in with their physical moves and attacks, unleashing a barrage of strikes. The Unilight Citizens were powerless to stop the oncoming onslaught, as their own Pokemon were no longer there to defend them.
The shockwave of their Pokemon being defeated would knock them off their feet, causing the Unilight Citizens to fall over. Some would try to get up and run, only to find themselves frozen in place. Soon, the battle was over. They had triumphed and the citizens of Unilight lay beaten, completely dazed.
"Oough..." One of them groaned, absolutely bewildered. All the unawakened members of Alola cheered in victory. Thee problem in Alola had quickly been dealt with.
Afterwards, Ash and his counterparts met up with Kukui and the others, having the awakened people and Pokemon restrained, tied up in a bunch of ropes.
"So, what's going on Professor. Why'd they suddenly start attacking you?" Ash asked.
"Well, from the looks of it, isn't just you all or all four of the Twilights that have souls of other people inside of you, but others in Alola as well. They all come from Unilight it looks like." The professor explained, looking over the tied-up people and their Pokemon. "Not only that, but they were fully loyal to Twilight Luminaria from what they were saying."
"It's not just us? So does that mean...there's way more?!" Lucas asked.
Kukui nodded, "Exactly. Which means that across the world right now, the same thing is happening with everyone else. All those that used to Unilight Citizens are about to awaken, or are already awake. That complicates things a bit..."
"So it's not just the Arcane Institute we have to worry about..." Ethan said, sighing. "What now?"
"You'll have to meet up with the others. Head over to Equestria and chat with the rest at Unilight Palace, if they're there. Maybe Princess Celestia or someone there has a way of handling this." The Alolan professor stated, "But whatever you do, be careful. Anyone could be a Unilight Citizen. It'd be bad if it's someone you really knew." With that, he left the 8 to think about it all, unsure of what they should do next. All of them were silent, trying to figure out a way to move forward. Things were getting a little more dangerous than before.
"So what do we do? How are we supposed to know if someone was from Unilight or not?" Brendan asked, breaking the silence.
"Well, we won't leave just yet. Not until we've found him." Lucas replied as the reason they even showed up to Alola was to find a certain someone. Their other Counterpart. "We'll find Elio here." Elio was the one they were searching for, the second-to-last Ash Ketchum reincarnation they had yet to find.
"Professor. Have you seen someone that has our face as well?" Ash asked Kukui.
"You bet we have. Not too long ago, we spotted him in Akala Island." Professor Kukui said, pointing to the right, where Akala Island could be seen in the distance, "Someone said they saw him heading somewhere west. I'd recommend going that way and checking around the island." The Alolan professor suggested. The team nodded and headed that way. He waved at them as they left.
"As for us, maybe I should make a pre-emptive call to Twilight or Princess Celestia." Kukui turned and headed off, while the others left to search the Island.
Elsewhere, as the Moon continued to shine brightly over the stars, Princess Celestia still found herself preventing her once beloved Canterlot Residents from reaching Unilight, fighting at her best to keep them away. Passion would hold back and strike down a plethora of Golurks that would charge towards her and Unilight, blowing them away.
Amazingly, Gardevoir would fire continuous Dazzling Gleams, shooting down all the Golurks with ease and grace. The Golurk just couldn't close the gap on Gardevoir whatsoever, not even in close quarters. They were far too slow, and her movements far too fast. Her psychic abilities allowed her to move and strike swiftly and precisely, while the Golurk weren't able to compare to her speed, even with their jet boosters. She would effortlessly avoid their attacks, then use her Dazzling Gleam to knock them out with ease. She was simply too agile, too skilled for them.
It wasn't just Gardevoir, Princess Celestia as well. The Alicorn would shoot a golden light at her foes, blasting them away with her while also restraining the Golurk, forcing the Unilight Residents back. The Unilight Citizens tried their best to push her back, but their attempts were futile. The princess had proven to be far too powerful for them to handle.
"Voir!" And finally, the last of the Golurk was defeated as Passion would slam down a Dazzling Gleam onto its chest, knocking the Golurk out and leaving the Unilight Citizens without their Pokemon.
"Impossible..." One said. "There's no way you'd defeat us..."
"And yet I have." Princess Celestia replied to him. "No one is going anywhere. You all won't reach Twilight Luminaria at all." She had all of them restrained via her magic, having a golden light hold them in place.
Celestia and Passion were on their own for this one. They were the only Canterlot residents who didn't awaken while everyone else in Canterlot was a Unilight Resident.
Celestia now had a lot of work to do. First order of business was informing the others about this. Now she was aware that others could awaken, not just Prisma and Twilight Luminaria's reincarnations. She would try and relay this message to Twilight Sparkle via telepathy. Closing her eyes, she would attempt to lock onto Twilight Sparkle's Magical signature, ready to relay this vital message.
However, when searching for her signature, she found something else. Twilight's magical signature was there eyes, but it was being occupied by someone else. "!" The magic radiating from this presence was absolutely tremendous. So tremendous that even Celestia had to gasp a bit. It was almost as potent as hers.
The magic being emitted from this individual was unlike anything Celestia had encountered before. It was a magical signature she didn't recognize but it was also familiar. A magic so potent, it was practically overflowing with magical energy.
It was coming from Twilight Luminaria.
Twilight Luminaria felt Celestia's magic reach her, obviously trying to speak to Twilight Sparkle. But instead, the Queen of Unilight would take over from here, deciding to speak to Celestia instead.
"Who are you?" Celestia questioned,.
Luminaria's response was swift, her magic signature shifting into a familiar, powerful energy that made Celestia gasp in shock. "Twilight?!"
"Not the Twilight you know. Right now, I've awakened and am occupying her body for the time being." Twilight Luminaria answered.
The Alicorn was stunned. It was unbelievable to see Twilight Luminaria, who had only ever appeared in visions of the Lost Universe. "You've taken over Twilight?!"
"For a bit. Until I'm able to fully restore my true self. You've probably seen many awakening, claiming themselves as Unilight Residents. That would be because of Professor Grogar. With his spell, I was finally able to awaken, along with my many of my subjects across the world."
"So that's what happened..." Celestia uttered. "You'd dare use my friend's body as your vessel?"
"Of course. I have a goal to achieve." The Queen of Unilight replied. "It's for the greater good, so whatever you say won't deter me. However, now that we're speaking now, I want to negotiate something."
"Negotiate?"
"You see, I personally don't want this to escalate out of control. I just want everyone to be safe. But as long as Prisma returns, the risk of everything being destroyed will always be at its highest. I understand you want to protect your friend. Ash Ketchum and his counterparts all innocent in this, and you all want to protect them as well, that I understand." Luminaria spoke in a serious tone. "So I'll give you a deal."
Celestia stayed quiet, letting Luminaria continue her proposal. "My ultimate goal at stopping Prisma is taking his soul, erasing it and replacing it with a new soul that will birth a new person into existence. Prisma will be gone but Ash Ketchum and all his counterparts will merge as one being, retaining all of those skills, but with a clearer mind free of destruction. The downside is-'"
"That their memories will be gone." Celestia finished the sentence. "Twilight already told me about this a while back. I know. How could you do that? Even if you merge them as one, they'll never remember their family, friends and adventures. You'd be destroying them all in more than one way."
"Wouldn't that be the best outcome?" The Sparkling Queen suggested. "They would no longer have their memories of their old lives, but they'll be alive and well, and free of any danger. I'd ensure they all have a second chance to live life again and to start anew, free of Prisma."
"And yet, their friends and family will mourn them." Celestia countered.
"They can be reincarnated." Luminaria pointed out. "It's the only way. The threat of Prisma returning must be eliminated. He's too strong, no one can truly defeat him, no one. Not even you, and that's saying something considering what you can do."
"If you're suggesting I leave Ash alone so that he can merge with his other counterparts and be erased, you are out of luck. I'd never do that to my friends." Celestia declared. "As for Prisma, who are you to say that he can't be defeated. No one is unbeatable. He will be stopped once and for all. There is a way to stop him without resorting to your method."
"I told you, there is no other solution." Twilight Luminaria's voice had a bit of annoyance in it, irritated that Celestia was this persistent.
"Clearly, for being such a powerful Queen for a Supernation, you don't have the will to find a new way. In our universe, when there is no other option, we make that option for ourselves."
"What? That's absurd! You can't just make an option that doesn't exist. Clearly, everyone in this universe is far too stubborn for your own good. You need to think rationally about this." Twilight Luminaria raised her voice a bit.
"I am. And I already know what to do." Celestia quickly replied.
"...Hmmrr...!" Twilight Luminaria grumbled a bit, closing her eyes. "In that case, I have something else to offer you. Before things spiral out of control, let's try something. A competition." The Queen offered.
"A competition?"
"Yes." The Sparkling Queen's tone shifted back to her usual serious tone. "A series of contests between the Arcane Institute and One Light to determine the outcome of the fate of all those counterparts. The winner will choose how things will proceed. You win, I won't intervene in your plans. But should you fail, I get what I want. Do you accept my challenge?"
The Princess thought for a moment. It seemed like the only option to get through to her, but something in the back of her mind told her to be wary of the Sparkling Queen's words. However, she took the risk. "I will take on the competition, Queen Twilight Luminaria." She answered, her tone firm.
"Good. At the city, we have a stadium for the competition I wish to propose. I'll personally call off all attacks from every single one of my subjects so that you can all make your way to the capital of the nation of Unilight, Unilost."
"You'll call off all of your forces?"
"Consider this a truce. If you manage to win, then you have a chance to do what you will. However, should my Arcane Institute emerge victorious, then you must not interfere. I don't think you'll accept this without some guarantee. That is why I'm telling you that my forces won't engage in battle with any of yours until you arrive at our Capital."
Celestia was a bit hesitant. She was still wary of the Sparkling Queen's intentions, and there was still something in the back of her mind telling her to be careful. However, this was a way for everyone to get through this. So Celestia agreed.
"I accept."
Alola. Akala Island. Heahea Beach.
Akala Island.
Over at one of its locations, Heahea Beach, a battle had just come to an end underneath the Alolan Moon. And speaking of the Alolan Moon, it was soon about to make way for the Alolan Sun. As for the battle here, it turned out that more Unilight Citizens had been defeated. But it was by someone else. Standing before them while having an Incineroar up front was none other than the 9th Counterpart.
Elio.

"Weird. What was that all about?" Elio held onto his hat, confused by the sudden attack. To him, they just snapped out of nowhere and started attacking him. Elio would then look up at the sky, seeing a bright warm glow slowly ascending over the horizon.
"The Sun is about to rise."
He'd turn around to his Pokemon. "We should probably get going. But before that..." He'd turn back to the downed ponies and other creatures. He'd walk up to the one that had been leading the attack on him, and took a good look at them.
"Guess I need some answers. What's going on? You knew about how I had Prisma in me, so what gives? Why'd you attack me?" He asked, genuinely confused. But before he could get them, not only did he pass out, but as he saw the Sun rising, his body would start heating up. And by heating up, that meant that his heat was radiating off of the downed people and Pokemon.
"Not again!" Notching this, Elio grimaced, quickly returning Incineroar and running for the hills. "S-Sorry! Gotta go!" And with that, the 9th Counterpart took off, running from the group as quickly as possible. Clearly, he had something up with him like the other counterparts and it seemed to be purely heat--related. Or rather, Sun related.
But Elio and neither his other counterparts knew what was coming. Not one bit. This sudden awakening of many was about to come to a halt for one thing. A competition to determine it all as the journey continues.
