The year is 1939, In Sainte-Marthe Hospital, France, lies Albert Serverin Roche. He is Wounded and dying. After an accident with a car while he was departing from the bus on his way back from work. Albert Roche, One of the greatest and most decorated soldiers in French History, A man who had survived wounds from the great war, was dying from a car accident.

He lies on his deathbed, he begins to reflect on his life. His Achievements, his mistakes, and the risks he took. When he was younger man, when he was a nobody on a farm, he ran away from home to try and join the French army. When his fellow soldiers judged him for his height, and were skeptical of his ability to perform on the field, he ran to try and join the front where the fighting was. When he was caught he was almost executed for being a deserter. By some miracle, he somehow survived.

He was eventually assigned to the 27th battalion of Chasseur Alpins, of which he would contribute to helping the battalion gaining its nickname of the Blue Devils from the German Krauts. He eventually became the sole survivor of the Sudel trench, and would single handedly prevent a German attack. He did this by interchangeably using his dead comrade’s weapons.

He remembered the time he was captured with his lieutenant. He would manage to overcome his Kraut Captor, and free himself and his lieutenant. Unfortunately his lieutenant was too injured to walk, and so he picked him up and carried him back to base on his shoulders. All the while, he captured 42 prisoners, and led them back to base.

His final great deed was his leopard crawl through no-mans land. He had crawled under fire for Six hours. He was crawling toward his wounded captain, to try and get him back to safety. After crawling back four hours to hand him to stretcher bearers, he fell asleep. When he was found sleeping in a guard hole, he was nearly sent to the firing squad for sleeping on duty. Miraculously his captain woke up, and provided testimony which saved his life.

And Now Here he lay, awaiting the release of death. He breathed heavily one last time. And with this final breath, Albert closed his eyes. The nurse came in to check on him, only to find him not breathing. She called a doctor in and he determined that he had died at 5 o’clock. As Albert Serverin Roche left our world, he began to stir in a new one
