This Secret Life of Mine

Adjustments part 1

Previous Chapter

I was glad my coltfriend was there for me when I needed it, he was such a sweet thing. He stayed with me the entire night just to make sure I was alright, I wish I could have stayed in his arms and not have to go into university today for class.

“Will you be alright?” He asked, “I know we have different classes, but I want to make sure you’ll be alright.” I gave him a soft warm smile, before speaking up.

“Vani will be with me today in class.” I said, “She’ll make sure I’ll be okay.”

“Do you want me to accompany you on the way to class at least.” I nodded blushing.

“I’d like that.” I replied softly, “Just let me get ready, and we’ll get going.”

I picked out a simple outfit, a plain baby blue t-shirt that showed of my large chest, some form fitting jeans that clung to my wide hips. I wasn’t wearing anything fancy underneath, just a black bra and matching panties. I did my make up, did my hair and put on a my choker. Frost whistled at my appearance and we both headed off to the campus grounds.

Admittedly I was nervous, who wouldn’t be in my situation. I could hear the faint mutterings of various students as we made our way to my enchantment and practical theory class.

“You sure you’re gonna be okay Sapphire?” He asked, I nodded slowly.

“This was going to happen eventually…” I replied, “At least the staff here aren’t giving me strange looks.” I gave Frost a quick kiss, “I’ll be fine, I’ll see you after class…I love you Frost.” He returned my kiss and gave me a small reassuring smile.

Once he left I took a deep breath and headed into the classroom.

The professor who taught the class took a quick glance at me and gave me an understanding smile. The rest of the students in the class looked at me in dead silence.

“S-Sorry I’m late…” I spoke up finally, “I-I’ve gone through a lot in the past two days…” I didn’t elaborate further. The professor gave me a nod.

“No need to explain,” she replied, “Ah what do I call you…Ms?”

“S-Sapphire Shine,” I answered, she gestured me to take my seat next to Vani. Without another word I quickly made my way to my seat, the gaze of some of the other members of my class never leaving me once.

“Sapphire, you okay?” Vani asked me looking concerned, “What are you doing in class like this?”

“I-I’m stuck like this…” I stated simply, “My Mom found out about me…” A look of realisation washed over Vani’s face in understanding, she gave me a sympathetic smile.

“It’s okay, I understand.” Vani reassured me, “I know Cori and Hazel will have your back.”

“T-Thank you.” I gave her a warm smile, “That means a lot to me.”

The rest of the class was mostly uneventful, at least outside of a few curious looks I was getting. Once the professor was done giving the lecture of the correct application of enchantments with alchemy, quoting an incident involving a over reactive crystal that’s highly sensitive to magic that happened a few years back.

Many of my classmates crowded around me and Vani. Clearly wondering who I was, or if they had figured it out wondering why I was clearly a mare now.

“Hey it’s the mare from the cafe.” One of them spoke up, I recognised him from the other day, “Wait is that Silent?” It finally clicking in their heads after one of the other students connected the dots. Everyone turned back to me, I honestly wanted to hide.

“Y-Yes it’s me…” I answered honestly, blushing heavily, “I-I…” I paused trying to find the words to explain my situation.

“Wait you’ve been the mare the rumours have been about this entire time?” Another stallion spoke up before I could continue, I just nodded there wasn’t any point in denying it now. The reaction I got was mixed, a few looks of disgust, some understanding but the most interesting reaction I got was the ashamed blushes I got from a lot of the stallions, a few were slapped upside the head by some of the mares next to them, giving them an angry look.

“Okay…” I looked a bit confused at that particular reaction, “I can understand the other looks but that?”

“Oh I wouldn’t worry about that.” One of the mares spoke up, “They’re just embarrassed that they were thinking of you whilst having a bit of…alone time.”

“W-What!?” I cried in embarrassment. Vani just burst out laughing at my expense. “V-Vani!” I whined, “It’s not funny.”

“Oh it’s not that.” She replied amused, “Welcome to the club, they did that to me and Cori as well.”

“All humour and jokes aside…” Another of my class mates spoke up, “Why? Why do this to yourself?”

“...” Everypony was looking at me awaiting my answer, after a moment of hesitation, “I-I’m a mare…even if I was born a stallion. I’ve been using a spell so I could be the mare I’ve always wanted to be, but I ended up spending too much time like this and now I’m stuck…though I suppose this isn’t that bad all things considered.”

After a while everypony decided to leave me alone, but I did hear a few unpleasant comments from some of the ponies in my class. They were thankfully shut up quickly by some of my class mates who sympathised with me.

“You okay Sapphire?” Vani spoke up looking a little concerned, “You look like you’re a bit on edge right now.”

“I’m…fine.” I sighed, “Just a little nervous given the situation, you saw the looks some of them were giving me…”

“Yeah” Vani nodded, “Just ignore them, they’re just being a bunch of closed minded assholes.” Her expression softened, “How did your mom take it?”

“...” I hesitated, “Not very well Vani, she went back home yesterday after she insisted on taking me to the doctors. I think finding out about the therapist was the last straw to be honest.”

I can’t say I wasn’t surprised in all honesty, my mom’s reaction was about what one could expect from somepony given the circumstances. It still hurts that she just up and left like that. I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of my phone ringing.

“H-Hello?” I answered, “M-Mom!?” I was surprised to hear her voice. “My first class of the day has just finished…so no I’m not busy.” Another pause, “Have you told anyone else in the family?” I frowned, “I see…how did they take it?” I sighed not liking what I heard, “No Mom…I don’t think I’ll be coming home any time soon…I think you’re right we both need sometime to adjust…I-I’ve got to go Mom.”

“...” Vani gave me a concerned look, “I take it the rest of your family didn’t take the news well.”

“Mom and Dad are the most concerned, my little brother doesn’t really care aside from being outnumbered by me and Ruby, as for my sister she’s over the moon.” I shook my head and gave a faint smile, “I guess Ruby must have figured it out before hand.”

“I’ve got an idea of what your mom is like, but what about the rest of your family?” Vani asked curious.

“Well my dad is actually my step-father.” I elaborated, “He’s good guy, just really rough around the edges and a bit of a perfectionist. Like my mom he’s a bit old fashioned.”

“A traditionalist?” I nodded, “Ah…What about your brother and sister then?”

“Lapis is my younger brother, and the youngest of the three of us.” I explained, “He’s a bit hyper and well as much as mom tries to get him to study more, but much to her dismay he’s more interested in those games of his.” I laughed, remembering how many times he’s gotten in trouble from staying up too late, “As for my sister Ruby, well it should be obvious but she’s the middle child of the family, She and Lapis clash a bit but that’s siblings for you. Aside from that she’s really into her fashion.”

“What happened to your biological father then?” Vani asked, “Did he die or something?”

“I don’t know” I shrugged, “He just up and left one day and never came back. I remember my parents arguing a lot so that might be the reason why.” I looked at the time, “C’mon Vani we’ve got to get to the next class.”

The rest of the day was surprisingly uneventful, I got the occasional look or noticed a few ponies having some hushed words. Knowing my luck it’ll be all over campus by the end of the day.

“Still a bit worried?” Vani spoke up, gesturing to the small group of ponies muttering to themselves.

“No more than I am already.” I answered, “C’mon, we’ve got to get to work…”
