Twenty-five years after the world fell to ruin, Honey Cake is nothing like the mare she once was. Hardened by years of loss and betrayal, she survives as a smuggler for the Underground in the Canterlot Quarantine Zone, running jobs alongside her partner- and boss- Sapphire Sparkles and keeping the past buried.

When a certain Firefly leader, desperate and faced with no other choice, comes begging for help, Honey and Sapphire take on what should be a straightforward and easy delivery- only to discover their cargo is far more valuable, and far more dangerous, than they ever imagined.

As they journey across an Equestria consumed by infection, tyranny and ponies beyond desperate to survive, Honey finds herself losing old friends, gaining unlikely new ones, confronting ghosts of her past and enemies of her future- and forging unbreakable bonds with ponies she never thought she would. The past cannot be undone, but perhaps, in the ashes of a broken world, they carve out something new... together.
