The hardest part of life is leaving what ails us behind. We would rather forget they happened, seeing them as distractions from our visions of what can be. If it were that easy… then we would have—continued to have— learn nothing. The agony is unbearable. 

Hope is dangerous for the mind that teeters on the edge. The Great Arids is on that very edge, and its foundation grows sicker with each passing day to take everything with it. No one leaves. Is it duty? Love? Or is it something else entirely?

Everything has its reasons...What is the reason to bind one's self to these things so willingly, knowing the risks are so steep? Why burden one's self like this, knowing the pain will grow stronger with each passing day?

Maybe they know the risks, but do not care; perhaps they are resigned to the fate that awaits them... Or maybe they feel it is all deserved.

No one can escape their burdens.
