The Daily Life Of Anonymous
Idle Insights
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Name?" Twilight asked, a quill in her magical grasp. Poised to begin taking notes at a moment's notice.
"Anonymous." The human replied simply, his tone conveying disinterest. This was the second time going over basic questioning due to Anon not understanding why she could not just write down what she knew beforehand. Apparently it's to keep consistency in what Anon was saying. Twilight remembered that Anon had confirmed her had more than just Anonymous when Celestia was questioning him but never shared it. And seemed to be one of a few pieces of information that he would never seem to share. Even so she would attempt to try.
"Age?" Twilight continued her questioning as she wrote down her questions and the human answerers.
Anon shook his head in response when the purple Alicorn eyed him, hopefully. She sighed before drawing a line next to her question.
"Species?" She asked quickly, moving on after her fruitless effort.
"Human."
"Birthplace?"
"Manchester, England. Shithole." Anon said with a hint of venom in his voice.
"I can understand why you think that." Twilight said, breaking from questioning.
Anon shrugged. "It's one of the main reasons. It's also overrun with people worse than me." He replied as his gaze found the ceiling. He listened to the constant scribbling of the quill against the parchment, it would stop for a few moments before resuming its rhythmic scratching.
"Ok. Next up, have you had any issues with the collar so far. Is it too loose or tight? Are you experiencing any discomfort?" Twilight asked, tapping her quill at each question.
Anon scratched his neck just above the collar before gently wiggling it with a couple fingers. "Nah, honestly don't realise it's there half the time. I do have something to add though that I have been experiencing recently." He replied as he lifted his head to look at Twilight's quill, focusing on the concentration of magic just above the nib where a human would normally hold it.
The Alicorn stopped writing the transcript she had been keeping track of as she turned to look at Anon, a slight worry present on her face. "Anything concerning?" She asked.
Anon shrugged. "Doubt it, I've started to see magic differently. I think I can see where magic is being concentrated. I noticed how Astral was carrying something before, his magic enveloped it, but It seemed to be more dense where he was focusing it." Anon tried to explain, his lack of knowledge towards magic evident.
Twilight's eyes widened slightly at this new discovery. "I believe I understand what you are saying. Let's quickly test it out, just in case I am misunderstanding you." She said while picking up one of the few left pieces of blank parchment. She held it up with her magic. "Ok I'm going to hold this piece of parchment at one to four of its corners. Tell me how many corners I'm holding now then keep informing me every time you notice a change." She instructed.
Anon quickly eyes the parchment, noticing a concentration around all four corners. "You're holding all four." He confirmed.
Twilight quickly changed how she held it, holding it by the top left and bottom right, keeping it taut, so the other corners would not sag, giving it away. The human responded by using his left hand and pointing with his middle and index finger at each corner, splaying them. Twilight's eyebrows raised in recognition as she changed her hold again.
This went on for a few minutes, each time, Anon was able to quickly determine where she was holding it without fail. It eventually moved on to different objects of various weights and shapes.
Twilight wrote her notes with a renewed vigor, a small pile of random objects on the corner of her table. "This is wonderful, always amazing to see new magical potential. I wonder if you had this ability for a while but your eyes were not up to the daunting task. But that also begs the question, Astral stated he or his family have never had the ability to regenerate at such speeds and never mentioned this sight of concentrated magic. Do all humans have this ability? Or could it be the jump from one species to another that caused these phenomena?" Twilight said as she began to rattle on as she left the present and entered her own mind of questions and theories.
Anon rolled his eyes before he moved a hand to his mouth. "*Cough* Can you not do this in front of me, It's creepy as hell." The human stated, clearly comfortable with Twilights current state of mind. The Alicorn snapped from her scientific daze as she took a much-needed breath.
"Right, apologies. Got a bit carried away." She admitted sheepishly.
Anon sighed before speaking, his mind clicking on something. "I meant to ask, what is Alex's special talent thing anyway?" Anon questioned, moving on. The Alicorn had to think for a second, her mind still reeling from her own though bullet train.
"Oh, Astral's special talent is actually broken into two abilities. The first is he is able to easily decipher and transcribe ancient scripts, partial records, foreign texts and even types of codes and shorthand. His second ability is his memory. While he remembers the actual texts he reads as well as anypony else. Astral is able to permanently remember the key or codes to any and all texts he has managed to crack." Twilight explained, this time being weary of her presence, trying not to begin rambling.
Anon was actually interested in this new piece of information. It made sense in his head. Alex was able to easily read that book Twilight wrote. The human was broken from his thoughts as Twilight began speaking again.
"Turns out that's actually why I was unable to read the summoning spell Astral used. It was written in a mixture of different ciphers in his own shorthand." Twilight added, clearly interested and impressed by Astral's abilities.
The gears in Anon's mind clunked around for a few moments before a sudden hopeful realisation hit him. In one sudden movement he stood to his feet, sending the chair he was sat on backwards as it scraped against the crystal floor.
"Does that mean you can send me back?" He asked, his voice soaked in sudden desperation.
