Facing the Herd

Anon stepped up onto the stage. His human sized legs allowing him to not use the pony sized steps. He knew there were many ponies gathered from the muffled voices he heard. But actually seeing all of them with their eyes solely focused on him, made him regret every step. Anon had learned quite early on in his 'career' to hold a good poker face and while the ponies saw a human with an indifferent expression. On the inside, his mind, body and soul were screaming at him to run.

Most other times Anon ignored his instincts, it never ended well. Here he can only hope it will be different. He stopped just beside Twilight, giving her a glance to which she replied with an encouraging smile.

As he returned his gaze towards the crowd. Twilight gave the townsponies a quick rundown of the collar. Explaining a few safety features that Anon was not paying attention to. He could not keep his eyes of the crowd. Each time he locked eyes with a pony, they would either look away or return his poker face with a look of disdain. Anon did, however, notice a few familiar faces. At the very back was the yellow pony who made discord fuck off. Applejack and Rarity stood closer to the front as they listened to what their friend had to say. Rainbow dash was lying on a low-flying cloud, you could tell she was listening but not paying attention. Her gaze did glance to you once or twice with a supportive smile.

As his gaze and thoughts returned to Twilight, he finally began to listen to what she was actually saying.

"And now for Anonymous to say a few words. I ask that you be patient and listen." Twilight finished as her welcoming eyes shifted to you.

Well shit. Anon thought to himself.

Anon had stuck to his word and went along with this plan. This did however not stop him from telling the others how terrible of an idea this was. The closest thing to a speech Anon had done would have to be threatening some of his 'fellow' thugs. This, however, was clearly the opposite.

Anon took a deep breath as he cleared his throat.

"Ok, listen." The human started, scratching the back of his neck as he glanced around the crowd once more. "I know most of you aren't fond of me or even hate me. Which is honestly fair-" Anon had just finished the net word before a tomato came flying towards him. Quickly grabbing it before it managed to make impact, the human's first thought was to simply crush it and throw it to the side. But for a rare moment, his impulsive decision-making took a back seat. Instead, he placed the tomato on the stage floor. "Exhibit A."

Mayor Mare's eyes quick scanned the crowd, she was about to step forward to give a warning but stopped when Twilight held her hoof out in front of her as she shook her head gently.

Anon sighs as he readies himself to speak again. "Look, In all honesty. I don't wanna be here, but I was taken and dumped here, so until I can go home, you're going to have to put up with me." He stated.

"I understand this may be difficult to believe, but I do not wish to harm any of you. What I have done is something that I never want to happen again. But, I can't promise that." Anon said as he thought back to those moments, trying to remember what he felt. "I hate it. I feel my blood boil as a hunger for violence consumes me. Then, when everything goes black, it's not me any more." Anon finished, his eyes dart across the stage floor in random patterns as a few flashes of his most recent outburst flashes across his mind.

Twilight and Mayor Mare looked across the small sea of ponies, while most still held their negative feelings against him, they still noticed a few faces soften as they began to understand. With each word the human spoke, another pony seemed to be willing to not just hear his words but listen. Anon pointed to the contraption around his neck. He knew that Twilight would have given them a lecture about it, which was good because apart from it blocking his magic, he had no idea how it worked. "This collar looking thing around my neck. It's currently the only thing keeping my sanity intact. If I have another episode, then Twilight's remote control over this collar will stop me before I hurt anyone. So I ask that you give me another chance." Anon ends his speech. He felt his heart rate finally slow down.

Mayor Mare walked to the front of the stage as Anon took a few steps back, he was glad he was not the centre of attention for the moment.

"Thank you all for being so patient. I hope Anon's words helped you understand his situation a bit more. Now does anypony wish to ask him any questions?" She asked as her eyes scanned the crowd.

Anon moved besides Twilight as he lent over. "I don't remember agreeing to a Q&A." He stated with a slightly scrunched face.

Twilight laughed softly. "I know, but I imagine everypony is quite curious, now they know you won't eat them." She joked quietly.

Anon turned his gaze to the crowed of raised hooves as Mayor Mare pointed at somepony in the crowd, who lowered his hoof before speaking.

"You said you wanted to go home. Where exactly is home?" A light grey unicorn asked, his voice slightly raspy.

"You can answer this because I ain't got a clue." Anon whispered to Twilight.

The princess stepped forward. "From what Anon has told me. Both of our planets are called 'Earth' and sustain similar types of lifeforms. And that humans have explored almost the entirety of the surface. So our best guess would be an alternate dimension or perhaps even a universe. But all of this is only speculation." Twilight explains as a small grin spreads across her features, happy that she gets to share these hypotheses.

As Twilight talked, Anon felt a strange sensation around the collar. He looked down to see a concentration of magic building around the dial. Before he could react, the dial suddenly turned as all the lights on his collar lit up as a horrible sensation overtook him.
