Chapters Three days had passed since Dusk had begun his new life as the Fiancée of the war Goddess of America, and somehow everything seemed nice as he explored the manor. He was walking down the various hallways. The estate felt like a maze of never-ending hallways. It felt like an endless dream, though Dusk somehow thought it was a hassle.
“It’s like every time I go around this place; it just keeps changing. Even if I have a map of this place, It won’t work. It just keeps changing.” He muttered to himself. However, the manor reminds him more of a hotel designed for the rich than an average guy like himself.
Yet somehow, Dusk felt so empty. There wasn’t anyone to talk to; the help, as Sombra had called them, sure they were everywhere. Though when he tried talking to them, they would say the same thing,
‘I’m sorry, Master, but I must be working maybe some other time.’ Or, ‘Master, I’m too low for you to acknowledge me.’ Dusk admitted that one wasn’t spoken out loud, but the way they barely even tried to talk to him made him wonder what they were thinking about. The fact was that they hadn’t even tried speaking to him. Ignoring him like he was some ignorant child had gotten on Dusk's nerves.
I ’ve got to keep my temper in check; I don’t want to lose control again. He thought while rubbing his sides. Sure, he could have talked to Sombra. It’s just half the time she was out doing her duties, as she explained to him around day two. So half the time, he wouldn’t see her till it was dinner time and when they went to bed.
Dusk groaned as he thought about the last couple of nights. The way she wore so few clothes. The Goddess wouldn’t look so sexy and tempting. That nighty barely hid anything; at that point, she should have just slept in the nude at the very least.

It could only mean one person as he walked out of the gym and headed downstairs to the front room. Then without warning, he heard a loud slamming, the way it echoed across the house. Dusk was correct as he looked over, seeing Sombra, wearing her leather jacket, hair shifted back. She was grumbling about something. It didn’t take a genius to tell you that the Goddess of strength and war was in a bad mood.
“Those bastards, they think it’s easy doing my job, yet they keep making these demands from me; who do they think they are!” Sombra grumbled as she took the jacket off, revealing the red shirt under it. She turned, looking at Dusk. If looks could kill, Dusk imagined he would have been dead on the spot the way she looked at him.
“Having a rough day?” Dusk said while he looked back at the angry Goddess.
“Just got some news, that's all; nothing to worry about,” Sombra said, her expression softening; instead of looking like she was going to kill someone, Dusk thought she might have just beaten someone to an inch of their life. He imagined it wouldn’t be good for them, so he quickly spoke up.
“Want to talk about it? I mean, I’m all ears.” He said as he got in closer. Trying to be careful about what he did next, imagining that if he fucked up.
“I can’t hide it from you, and We’ll be having guests coming over tonight. I didn’t want to deal with them just yet. They’re just insisting.”
“Who are they?” Dusk asked while keeping himself perfectly calm.
“Some of the top gods from another pantheon, the usual, Odin, Zeus, Ra… The last thing I must do is deal with them right now, not so close to our wedding.” She muttered while rubbing her temple, trying to think about what she would do. She looked back at him as she started stating,
“I know this will sound demanding, but you can not fuck this up. When they come over to dinner, you must be on your best behavior while here; please trust me.” She moved in close, looking at him, the flash of red in her eyes, as Dusk wasn’t sure why, but it sent a chill down his spine.
“I’ll do my best, and what could go wrong… I mean, they’re just Gods.” However, Dusk knew he had probably jinxed them for even saying those cursed words.
Sombra watched him, those red eyes glowing like hot coals for a second as she let out a sigh,
“Very well, though, know this; if you behave yourself, I will surely reward you.” She leaned in, her hand under his chin as she lifted it.
“So you better do your best to be a good boy.” She smiled with that lush voice, which only made Dusk shudder to imagine what she might be planning.
“I’ll do my best, Sombra.” His voice mumbled as he could feel a spark in his stomach, a spark that might grow as time went on.
“Good, now I want you to prepare for tonight; they’ll be here around six o’clock.” She looked over to the wall where a clock was ticking away, the soft sound of its ticking somehow echoing into his ear.
“Get yourself ready, and I’ll send someone up there to help you. They’ll ensure you look presentable when those old bastards arrive.” She whispered into his ears, that hot breath coming against him as he couldn’t help but let out a slight groan. The way she teased him at this point. The mere mortal of a man could feel him forgetting bits of his past. Yet still, he clung to every word of the Goddess before him.
“Now I’ll send someone to help you prepare and provide you with the proper clothes, and I can’t have them thinking you’re some kind of a slob,” Sombra spoke brash while she snapped her fingers.

“Now, don’t take advantage of this sweet Moth.” It was like on cue that Pinkamena suddenly sprouted out moth-like wings, long fuzzy antennas popping from under her hair as she grabbed hold of Dusk's arms,
“Come master, and we shouldn’t keep the mistress orders waiting. Now hurry up.” She spoke up and dragged the man away, the confused look on his face. “Thanks, though you don’t need to be doing this. I can wash. I’m not that helpless.” He spoke, trying to keep some dignity on him while feeling her scrubbing his back getting nice and deep.
“But Mistress demanded that I ensure you were properly prepared, and I can’t let her down. It’s my duty as a servant of the great Goddess!”

Dusk would feel her pressing in closer as she muttered,

“Well, if you look at that, I’ve got to get out of the shower and get dressed.” It was there Dusk bounced out of the shower, his naked ass showing as he started to pull a towel over him. The mothwoman watched him while she pouted at him,

The room was empty, Which made him guess Pinkie had left him. His clothes laid out the fine suit laid there. He wasn’t the kind of person to wear this. Somehow it made him chuckle.
He would sit there naked for what seemed like an hour. His hand grabbed his phone as he messed with Facebook. He felt tempted to log into his profile, but he was afraid that someone in his family might notice he logged in and how they might react. So he didn’t think part of him wanted to make a profile. Just to check on them.
Soon he looked up at the clock he saw it was nearly time for him to head down. So he got up and began getting dressed.
It started simply putting it on till it landed over to the tie. Yes, that damn tie, as he started pulling it on, trying to get it looking nice and straight, but whenever he tried, it just looked like a horrible knot, and nothing like you’d see those rich businessmen wearing, he grunted,
“Come on, just work.” He mumbled to himself. It was times like this he wished he had one of those clip-on ties; it was less of a headache.
“Damn bloody thing.” He bitched out as he fumbled his hands around when he heard Sombra's voice,
“Having trouble there?” She spoke when he saw her appear right next to him out of nowhere.
“It’s this damn tie, just doesn’t want to work.” He grunted while ready to toss the thing off. Though Sombra moved in,
“Relax, you’re thinking too much about it.” She began to move her hands around, slowly tying them up. Looking him in the eyes as she spoke.
“A tie is like war. You can’t just jump straight into it. You need to know how to do it and figure out where your enemies are and where they hide. Loop around them before you tie them up.” She soon tightened it up, pulling it right up. “Till you’ve got them where you want it.”
There Dusk looked down. The tie looked perfect, the correct form like those he’d seen in pictures.
“Oh… Thanks, Sombra, I appreciate it.” He said, giving her a light smile.
“It’s no problem, besides I should help my future husband with small tasks like this though you should practice it. I can’t let others think my husband is incapable of simple tasks.” She winked at him. Sombra snapped her fingers as her clothes began transforming, turning from a sleek leather jacket and pants to a long dress. Pure red, with no shoulder strings. It somewhat reminded Dusk of Jessica Rabbit from Who framed Rodger Rabbit. Showing off her legs and bust as she gave him that smile.
“Like something, Mr?” She spoke in that soft voice while Dusk rubbed the back of his head.
“Oh, um, yeah, you look pretty good there, Sombra.” He spoke while trying not to look away from her eyes as she smirked.
“Well, good, we better head down there. Our guest’s are waiting up right about now.”

Heading down the stairs, they heard the doorbell ringing, and for a second, Dusk thought he heard thunder behind him. While one of the house servants opened the door, and they walked in.
The first one was a man with white hair, a lightning scar running down his eye as he walked forward in a fine three-piece suit that looked Italian stepped in,
“Ahh, Lady Sombra, it’s so good to see you this evening.” He tipped the fedora he wore as he bowed his head.
“Ahh, Zeus, it’s an honor for you to return to my home; you haven’t been chasing any of the women in town, now, have you?” Sombra spoke as she sat down on the final step.
“Oh Sombra, you know I’m a married man, and I’d never chase after innocent girls.” He gave a shit-eaten grin that was clear he was trying to be a bullshitter.
“Zeus, you bullshitter, trying to lie; I remember you were trying to seduce one of my goddesses last time we met up.” A booming voice came as Ravens flew through the house they perched by the fireplace. Soon they began circling, and a man wearing a long thick coat, an eyepatch over one eye, and a long beard.
Dusk saw this and somehow couldn’t help but think if you put him in red, he might have been Santa Claus himself.
“Odin, you one-eye fuck, it’s good to see you, brother,” Zeus spoke up as he raised his hat, revealing the balding look of his white hair. With a jolly chuckle.
“It’s fine to see you, horny toad,” Odin responded with a jolly chuckle.
“Ahh, Sombra, as beautiful as always, how do you this fine evening? Mind if I tell you one of my great stories.” The man spoke while Sombra giggled.
“Oh, and would this one be your tiger balls story, Anansi? I’m quite fond of those. How's been your travels?”
“It’s been fine, and I’ll tell you a web of tales.” He chuckled at his bad pun as he looked over at Dusk, who couldn’t help looking at the large spider that crawled over Anansi’s shoulder,
“Don’t mind Little Chima here; she won’t bite at all.” He chuckled as he grabbed the spider off his chest and put it on his face, allowing it to crawl over his face. He let out a head laugh as it crawled over him.
“I suppose, Sir,” Dusk spoke, trying to be polite.
“Oh, No need for the sir Crap. Call me Anansi.” He walked over, giving that wide smile as he shook Dusk's hand and shook it hard. As it nearly made Dusk bounce as he tried shaking back. Though found him caught by God’s death grip.
“Hmm, Brother, here’s doesn’t have a strong grip. hopefully, he’s a clever one, Sombra sister.” Anansi spoke with that wide toothy grin that somehow made Dusk want to return the smile to him,
“I mean, I don’t think I’m stupid.”
“Oh Don’t need to be smart to be clever; I’ve known very stupid people who are clever in getting out of a situation. You’re only as stupid as you imagine it.” The spider god said while pointing over at his shoulder,
“Also, Little Chima, there seems to like you.” Anansi seemed to laugh at this while Dusk looked over and jumped in the air as he realized Anansi's spider had gotten on his shoulder somehow. As he imagined, it hissed at him before bouncing back to her master.
“Can we please get on with this Old Spider?” A voice sounding more boorish walked in from the door, where Dusk looked over, feeling somehow more relaxed after the spider got off him as he looked over. Two men stood there; one of them stood a pretty strong-looking man as if he somehow looked like the love child of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. He stood there tall, wearing a black suit, and tie, with that strong chin.
Next to him, though, was the opposite. Standing there was what Dusk thought was a little shit stain, thin and hunched over there, while he stood there, like the kind of snot that felt he was on top of the world cause he had money in the bank. Yet had no idea what to do with it.
The boy spoke up,
“Besides, we need to get some dinner and get this over with.” The young man said while the buff man eyed him with much contempt. Clearly like he didn’t want to spend time near the person, but rolled his eyes,
“I’m sorry, Sombra, Blueblood here isn’t happy. It seems as though he is having a bad day.” The man spoke calmly while the smaller one named Blueblood turned, looking at him, grinding his teeth.
“No problem, Ares. Please tell me, how is Aphrodite doing?” Sombra asked, smiling at him as she pretended not to notice Blueblood, who seemed to only scowl at Dusk. Dusk is doing his best to ignore the little troglodyte.
“She’s doing fine. She sends her condolences, but you know how it is. Much to do,” Ares spoke with a chuckle while moving in. Dusk found it odd since he always imagined Ares, the God of war, to be far more destructive and wilder, like he was ready to bust heads in a moment, but the man seemed more relaxed while he moved through the room, while the other gods nodded,
“If there’s anything else, Sombra, I think I’ll head to the dining room myself. I’m starving from my flight.” Anansi said as he moved around, giving Blueblood a dark look like he was planning a serious trick on the lad.
Sombra chuckled,
“Well, if there aren’t any others coming, I think we should head to the Dinning room.” She spoke before hearing another one, a feminine voice,
“Are you forgetting someone?” Sombra's eyes twitched briefly, clearly not wanting to deal with more guests. Though She looked over,
“Oh, Cadence, It’s good to see you again, Dear.” She spoke while Dusk saw her, and his eyes almost bugged out of his eyes.
The woman was a tall, slender woman with short black hair with wire-rimmed glasses, but the most prominent thing about her was her breasts. They were a large pair, prominent as she walked forward, holding a scythe in her right hand as she walked in.
“Come on now, it can’t be a party without me, and who might this handsome fellow be?” She spoke calmly, giving a smile as she moved in.
“Oh, Cadence, this is Dusk; he’ll be my future husband-to-be,” Sombra said while Cadence smiled,
“Nice to meet you, and I’m glad you can find someone; you deserve to find some lust, Oh I’m Cadence, Goddess of Death and Lust; I’m a part of Sombra’s Pantheon; I heard the call, and decided to join in while I was here. Figured I’d meat the one who stole the boss's heart.” Cadence smirked while she watched Sombra for a second, like there was a knowing look on her face as she began to strut away.
“We’ll she’s…. Something.” Dusk muttered while watching her walk away. Trying not to stare for a minute, Sombra shook her head.
“There’s a reason she’s the American Goddess of Lust and Death. Just come on; dinner should be ready.” She said while grabbing his shoulder and giving it a tight squeeze. Dusk didn’t know how to feel about this. Soon following her.

Dinner seemed to go without a hitch while they sat there. Dusk sat there for a moment of silence while the gods seemed to watch each other without many words. Though Dusk found Blueblood staring at him the worst while He tried to enjoy the steak before him.
Dusk leaned in towards Sombra as he whispered,
“Did I do something to offend him? He just keeps staring at me.” He did his best to keep his voice calm.
“No, not at all, my dear; Blueblood there is simply jealous of you. He has been eying me for the last two hundred years.”
“Well, I wouldn’t be having so much trouble if you kept your end of the Bargan Sombra,” Blueblood said, stabbing his fork into the table. Ares is sitting next to him, clearly annoyed, like he didn’t want to babysit the young God.
“Why Blueblood, I haven’t broken any bargain. If you remember clearly, Zeus was there when we made the deal.”
Zeus put down his glass of Brandy as he nodded,
“Yes, Blueblood, She is upholding her end of the deal; we did give her the time to find someone to marry. We have to honor it.”
“But it’s clear she is using this mortal to get out of the deal!” Blueblood spoke out, his eyes on Dusk like he was about to try and incinerate him with a touch of the hand. Sombra though stood up as she looked at the child of a god.
“Listen here, as our deal was, I would find myself a husband, and I would provide your pantheon a replacement god; that was the deal.” Sombra’s face seemed to turn bright red, filled with anger. Dusk watched as her arm grew more muscular at that, like she was about to slap a bitch.
“Blueblood, we had a deal, now sit down. We are here to meet and speak with Sombra, not cause trouble.” Zeus spoke, his stern expression on his face, while he nodded to Odin and Anansi.
“Little Blueblood there looks cranky there, Horny toad; mind shutting him up there, Zeus,” Anansi spoke, rubbing his head, clearly wanting to enjoy his meal and drink.
“Um, If you guys don’t mind me asking… What deal?” Dusk asked, raising his hand as he felt like the odd man out looking towards them. The Gods seemed to look at him for the moment. Ares chuckled, somehow finding this amusing.
“Sombra, did you not tell your future husband what the deal was?” He spoke, slapping the table, causing the glasses to shake.
“I was going to be telling him soon, but thanks to Blueblood here, the cat is out of the bag.” She sighed, almost imagining what she might do if she had a chance.
“Well, Dusk, One of my gods, Named Liesmith, had caused a little trouble, as Cadence would likely tell you.” Sombra pointed over towards the busty Goddess, who was eating away as she smiled, not really paying attention to the whole ordeal.
“Now, while she managed to kill the moron, Somehow the fucker managed to bring him back to life, and his actions resulted in him killing Apollo, the Greek God of the Sun.” She eyed Zeus for a second, clearly more frustrated with him at the moment.
“So Zeus wanted compensation since it was his son, and one of their important Gods, I had to replace him. I offered one of the angels in our group to take over. But no, Zeus, you old lightning dick decided. That he wanted a new child to raise, and since He can’t take a chunk out of Liesmith, I have to do the repaying as head of my Pantheon.” She growled more as she took the butter knife in hand, bending it in half. While Zeus leaned back, tilting his fedora.
“And I was supposed to take her as my wife, as the representative of The Greeks, yet she refused,” Blueblood muttered, clearly annoyed.
“Now she’s picked you a mortal, and what will we get, Some Demigod child who might not even be strong enough to even take Lord Apollo’s job,” Blueblood spoke up with a grunt, While Sombra smirked, resting her chin on her hands,
“Well, explain Heracles, wasn’t he a mere Demigod Child before he because of a God himself? Would you dare say that to his face Blueblood?” She teased him more while watching him while Blueblood felt the eyes on him.
“Heracles was different. He is the son of the great Zeus, but how would we know that you have a demigod child that would result in a powerhouse like him and not some weakling.”
Sombra stood up, her eyes flashing red, as she walked around the table.
“Oh, But Blueblood, you seem to forget while you are part of an old pantheon, a powerful one, I am an American God, and We might not be as old and prominent; our nation may not even know we exist, but we are strong.” She walked over to him, her hips swaying as she winked at Cadence like she was giving him a hint. The other Goddess sat there observing what might happen as she watched the other gods.
“We are many; our powers pour through the land, feeling its essence. But do you know what America’s greatest strength is?”
“What your cheeseburgers and Arrogance,” Blueblood said while reaching down to his fork, watching the Goddess.
“No, it’s more than that, you see America takes its strength from one simple thing.” She suddenly reached over, grabbing Blueblood by the neck and lifting him with her arm. The God began choking out as he held her hand.
“It’s our diversity. We don’t just fuck our sisters or brothers and call it a day; we’re not inbred idiots. No offense Zeus.” She spoke to him calmly while choking out the Greek God. Zeus raised his hand while watching, amused by the sight of one of his own being choked away.
“So you dare come into my home and insult my future husband for being mortal when you’re pantheon is known for being all related to Zeus himself, and dare call them weak 'cause I refuse to marry your scrawny spoiled ass.” She tossed him down on the ground while looking over to Ares.
“He claimed me and My chosen husband would make weak children, But as far as I see it, if I had a kid with him, it would make an insulting god.”
Dusk watched this, and for a second, he thought he could feel the power coming off her as the minor God took a long deep breath.
Zeus stood up,
“Well, now that we’ve embarrassed Blueblood. I hope that you don’t uninvited us to your wedding, my dear.” The King of the Greek Gods bowed while Sombra smirked.
“Why, I wouldn’t deny allowing you to come, Zeus, and it would be so nice to see your wife again.” Sombra bowed with a wide smile as she looked at the other gods.
Dusk watched as Blueblood stood up, his hair looking disheveled as he looked daggers at Dusk while he sat back down.
“You know, I think this will make a fun story to tell Br’er Rabbit; he is going to be laughing and laughing his fuzzy butt off,” Anansi said while he finished up his meal. Knowing he was enjoying the unexpected show with his dinner.
Eventually, all dinners come to an end, and for the gods, it seemed like it was time as they soon got up and ate, Ares dragging Blueblood off, that dirty look on his face never left. But none of the Gods acknowledged it. Anansi left soon after as he gave the two a nod.
“Well, Sombra, I say that tonight’s dinner was more excellent,” Zeus spoke while kissing the back of Sombra's hand. “As for me, I think I will be following what my doctor tells me to take a virgin tonight and call him in the morning.” He chuckled while walking out the door. Soon the others would leave till it was just Odin, Who looked at Dusk. Then looked back at Sombra,
“Miss. Sombra, is it possible that I speak with your Fiancée for a moment?” Sombra looked at them both for a moment and knew that Odin wouldn’t be a threat to her, or her husband nodded before leaving the room and heading upstairs, leaving them both alone for the time being.
“Dusk, know this….” Odin Spoke while looking towards the mere mortal.
“Um, what is that?” Dusk found himself asking the ruler of the Aesir Gods.
“Unlike most gods, Like Zeus, Anansi, even Ra, and yes, including Sombra there. We of the Norse know we are destined to die. But they don’t realize that Ragnarök is destined for all gods. Thus why is it called, The Twilight of the Gods? Just my Pantheon has the knowledge of how we meet our end.” He spoke while looking toward him,
“So why are you telling me this?” Dusk asked,
“Because knowledge is power, and Sombra there is a young god; she is strong and thinks she’s invincible. But she needs a balance, someone to keep her in check. You might be the key to that. Otherwise, the American Gods might fall without even realizing it.” Odin explained as he walked away. Slowly turning into Sombras as they flew away into the night sky.

Hey there well here's the newest chapter wow on a roll with this one and might consider it one of my best chapters I've written in a while, hope you like the cameo from Married to a goddess one, of Cadence Goddess of Lust and Death, and Oh wow what a little Shit stain Blueblood is, and fuck he's a god.
Dusk Shine took a deep breath as Odin left the house and he stood there. He eventually closed the door, hearing the sounds of Ravens crowing. The aftermath of the God? Dusk wasn’t sure but imagined he would call it a night as he began heading up the stairs to bed.
Tonight seemed far quieter than usual as he moved to his bedroom, where he met with Sombra at the end of the bed.
She was wearing her dress still while watching him; Dusk tried giving her a smile for a second while simply saying,
“Well, that was some dinner… and that Brutus guy, wow, what an asshole.” He shook his head while finally pulling the tie off, feeling far more comfortable and not on the hangman’s noose.
“Yeah, That Brutus. I can’t stand that fucker.” She spoke while crossing her leg slowly while watching him though Dusk tried keeping his eyes more on her face. The calm look on her as she spoke up.
“You did good, better than I expected. Anansi liked you, and One of my Goddesses took some interest; that's very good; what did Odin talk to you about?” She asked while eying him, seeing if he would lie to her; he was about to say what God told him, yet a thought came to him when he was about to. It’s not like he said anything that she needed to know about. Why should I? I have the right to have some secrets. So he moved his shoulders.
“Nothing much, just giving me some wisdom, that's all.”
“Interesting, Odin doesn’t normally hand over wisdom for nothing; I wonder what he might be planning. But besides that, It seems Zeus is fine with the agreement. He wants to come to our wedding; that's good.” Sombra stood up, her dress clinging to her as she walked around in a circle. Dusk watched her for a second as he found a small thought about it.
“So, Is that all I’m needed for? To be seen so you won’t have to marry that Brutus?” He found saying it hurt while looking to the Goddess, who looked back at him,
“No, not really; I mean, yes. You’re helping me not have to marry that fucker, but I need you for so much more.” She walked over, her legs swaying back and forth.
“You don’t realize how important you are, my sweet Dusk.” Sombra moved in, caressing his cheek. Though Dusk watched her, he was unsure how much he could believe that. While simply stating,
“Well, I’m glad to know; so, Is there anything else, Sombra?” He asked while The Goddess moved over to the bed. Her finger snapped as her dress transformed, flowing away and revealing her naked breasts.
“Would you like your special reward now, or can I save it for our wedding night?” She smirked, almost indicating something else. But Dusk just looked at her and shook his head,
“I think we can save that for our wedding night.” He imagined he knew what she wanted, but he didn’t feel it as he started to take the jacket off.
“Oh, if that's what you want, then sure, I don’t mind.” Sombra the Goddess said as she got back up.
“I think I’ll freshen up then before I head to bed. Get some rest.”
“No problem at all, Sombra,” Dusk said, watching her head to the shower. The shower sounds start-up as he simply strips away. The clothes vanished from the floor as he stood in his underwear and climbed into bed.
He would lay there for some time, with Sombra joining him in bed, but all he could do was lay there for the longest time wondering, Who am I? What's my purpose?

Before Dusk knew it, it was the day of his wedding; the fact it was already here was quite strange, apparently, during the next three days. Sombra had set up the wedding for today; the rush seemed quick as he watched the large field behind the mansion transform into a beautiful scene. It reminded him of some movies before the bride was getting married. But a part of him couldn’t help but think.
This is so strange. I mean, I never thought I would be getting married… Well, Not in this situation. I mean, I always thought me and Tammy would… Dusk felt another pang in his heart, and it didn’t hurt as bad as it had a few days ago; he didn’t feel like smashing something, at least for now. But he just didn’t feel as happy. He wasn’t sure why, but somehow, Dusk had an empty feeling. At the same time, he was getting dressed up.
When he got up this morning, Sombra left a note telling him to be dressed and ready. The wedding suit was black, of course. They would see each other when the ceremony began.
The staff worked throughout everything getting the place ready, as He watched them. Somehow watching them do all the work didn’t seem right as Dusk asked, “Is there anything I can do to help?” he asked one of the maids, who looked at him almost stunned while she mumbled out,
“No, it’s your wedding day, master; Dusk, you should be relaxing before the big moment; we can get someone to help you; I mean, you’re in your suit.” She spoke up, but Dusk shook his head,
“It’s fine, and I need something to do. I don’t mind.” There seemed to be a strange look on her face while she looked around, almost like she was making sure her Goddess wasn’t watching.
“Well, you can give me a hand bringing out some of the plates.” Dusk nodded and went over to help out, putting away some of the plates, really just trying to help out, keeping his mind busy. Though one thing he noticed was the place was getting hot, and feeling the sun beating against his neck as he began working on the area.

A few hours later, others began coming though this was the various gods; Dusk managed to recognize a good few of them as he saw Zeus. The sky God is walking around his suit and hat while a woman clung next to him; somehow, the way she stared at Zeus, he could tell it was his wife. The way she looked like she was ready to kill the man.
Dusk remembered the day after Zeus had visited. There was a large case of virgins going missing from around the close town, and somehow Dusk felt it was because of Zeus. Such a thing was quite something, as the other gods had come in.
Odin wasn’t alone as he had two men come through, and somehow when Dusk looked at them, he imagined one looking like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. The way they came in, the one who was more blond and muscular was carrying a hammer on his shoulders, giving a high spirit smirk. The other sleek black hair shot back, somehow making him think he was ready to sell him a lemon.
Dusk is tempted to walk over and ask who they are, but somehow, he imagined— no, he somehow knew that those two were none other than Loki and Thor.
Anansi showed up later and brought some beer while hanging out with others. Dusk felt nervous, not knowing what he could say. He tried getting more comfortable and pretending he wasn’t around beings that he had only dreamed of as a kid when reading their stories. They weren’t celebrities who you could say were just regular people. These people are actual gods, some of the most powerful beings on the planet. This made trying to talk to them even harder for someone like Dusk.
“You should get ready. The ceremony is about to begin.” An elegant voice spoke while Dusk found himself turning around. The woman from the other night, Cadence, seemed to give her a light smile.
“Oh… Cadence, right?” He asked, not wanting to mess her name up; while she nodded, Dusk nodded in return. Though he felt confused,
“So you’re the Goddess of Lust and Death; how does that work? I mean, it seems like two different things?”
“Well, maybe one day I will tell you, though for now, we should get you to To the podium; the ceremony should begin soon,” Cadence smirked while she moved in, patting his side,
“Just relax; my husband was also nervous when we first met.”
“Oh… How did that go? I mean, you and him meeting?” Dusk found himself asking while following behind the busty Goddess.
“Oh, It was nice; I met him while working at a local strip club, getting prayer and worship. He had too many drinks, then asked me to marry him, and boom, we’ve been happy for the last few years. We even have a son together.” She smiled more as she thought back at the child at home with her Husband, Shining armor; she had wanted to bring them with her but imagined it would have been more trouble than anything.
“Though I suppose you could blame me for getting you in this situation since I was the one who caused all this,” Cadence spoke while continuing to pass by the tables. Her hand reached up, adjusting her glasses. Dusk couldn’t help but wonder why a Goddess would even need glasses. Dusk imagined it would have been too rude to ask her and decided to let it be.
“How so?” He asked while Cadence giggled,
“Well, Liesmith had been harassing me and caused more trouble because I rejected him, so my Husband and I had to take him down. Then he somehow brought himself back from the dead and needed to be taken down a second time. But that time, he took Apollo down with him.”
Dusk wasn’t sure what to say but shook his head,
“I mean… Shit happens. But I’m just surprised that she picked me; I mean, she could have picked a soldier or someone who was a hero. But me, I’m no one, a big nothing.” Dusk said while Cadence led him off to the front stage.
“Well, I can tell you’re a no one; you’re someone, and what Sombra see’s in you, well, that’s her choice. She might answer the question. Maybe talk to her when this is all over with. But hard to tell with her; there are times that she seems so distant even with our pantheon.” She smiled while they stopped where the arches were, flowers lining the wooden frames.
“Listen, this is where I leave you, but know you’re not alone; my husband felt the same way when we got married; he’s mortal, just like you. Same as my sister; she married a human also.”
“You gods seem to marry a lot of mortals. Is it an American pantheon thing or what?” Dusk joked, but Cadence shrugged.
“Not sure; I know if we go where we’re needed. Sombra knows that, and you’re where you’re needed.” She smiled and kissed him on the forehead, managing not to leave any lipstick on his head as she moved over to the chairs. The other gods began walking around, joining the rest. The wedding was close to the beginning.
Dusk stands on the right side, looking nervous as the gods take their seats. Each of them was watching him. It somehow felt weird as he shuffled a bit. That was when the wedding music started playing, the piano off to the side slowly playing as Cadence stood next to Dusk; she smirked while holding the book as Dusk saw her.
As she walked down the aisle, Sombra wore an elegant white dress. Rose petals fell off behind like they were raining from the sky. Dusk noticed cherubs were flying behind her, small children holding two gold rings. Another one was the flower girl looking cute as a button. At the same time, Sombra walked on carefully, her head tipped down, obscuring her face from him.
Dusk wasn’t sure how to feel about this. The looks on him as he imagined if he tried to run away or do anything. He might not get that far away. He could picture Aries sitting next to a blond-haired woman who wore a delicate dress showing off her cleavage, who would have thrown a spear right at him and wouldn’t have missed. His eyes were on the Goddess as the music continued.
This is my life now, and I ’m marrying a Goddess. I mean, my life could have been worst. Dusk thought while he felt his palms sweating. He tried everything he could to avoid freaking out as he watched the woman come closer. Eventually, she stopped standing right in front of him. Her head tilted down. Dusk could see the slight smile growing on her face.
Cadence spoke up, her voice growing louder as she ensured every God could hear them. She smirked, looking at Sombra and Dusk, as she went on, her words carefully spoken and read through what looked like an ancient tome. She watched Dusk with a light smile as She grabbed their hands.
“Promise to hold each other, to care for each other sick or well. You will be bound by the edge of eternity until one crumbles. May you keep one together in the heart of the other. Sombra, Leader of the American gods, The Firstborn from revolution, and giver of strength, do you take Dusk, son of humanity, son of Nightlight, and Twilight Velvet, as your husband?”
Sombra looked towards Dusk, a smile on her face. She kept that calm look as she nodded and spoke carefully, “I do.”
Cadence looked at Dusk, the smile on her face, as she gave him a toothy grin. His heart pounded, sweat glistening from his forehead as she spoke.
“Do you, Dusk Shine, Son of man, the child born from the depths of the earth, and resident of Ohio? Take Sombra, for better or worse, In sickness and health until I take you from this world.” As he looked towards Sombra, Dusk felt a shiver run down his back like she had just touched him there. The soft expression on her face while he looked at the veil over her face.
“I—I, I….” His voice felt dry, as he imagined he could have ran. Running far away from here as he felt like his feet was frozen solid, But he couldn’t move—such a thing while. Yet the way she looked at him, those soft eyes, the passion behind them, and more human-like, caused his heart to pound faster.
“I do.” He spoke the words, and their bodies slowly glowed without warning. He watched as this glow turned into rope wrapping around and interlocking with each other. Such a sight and he wasn’t sure how to react to it. As he felt something push into him. Cadence gave a wide smirk as she exclaimed,
“You may kiss the bride.” Without warning, Sombra moved in, grabbing Dusk by the head, and she pulled him in for a long passionate kiss. Their lips meshed together as Lewis found himself looking at the woman. Eventually, his eyes closed, and he would soon return the kiss. The cheering sound came from the crowd while. They would hold themselves for the longest time. Dusk finds himself lost in the embrace like he forgot that the real world existed. It was something about it that just screamed he wanted more.
Then Sombra pulled back from the kiss. Such a thing as he looked over at the Goddess, who gave a light smirk.
“Well, come on, Husband, I’m sure we can have a couple of drinks.” The Goddess spoke as she moved around, grabbing his hands and dragging him away from the altar. The various gods gave a big cheer as the two ran past them. None noticed the scowl coming from one God while he sat there. Not happy being at this wedding.
The party had begun while the reception went off without a hitch. Dusk laughed while Loki got on stage; his story was funny.
“I say the last time I went to a wedding, it ended in disaster. I somehow convinced Thor to wear a dress because the groom stole his hammer. We got a great fight, so we all had a great time. Now I wonder, Sombra, are you secretly just Thor in a dress!” Loki was laughing till the hammer was thrown at him. Which caused the group to laugh, as the blond hair god wasn’t as amused.
Dusk found himself laughing as the gods started giving him a drink; Ra had given him this one golden drink, and whatever was in it caused Dusk to see, in his own words, some crazy Shit; Ra somehow looked like a giant eagle-headed man, instead of the pristine Black man in a fine suit, This made him stumble around, away from Sombra as he found himself laughing more,
“What was in that stuff!” Dusk called out while he would suddenly grab a random woman and dance with her, jolly as a drunk, as he giggled more. The woman, or Goddess, Dusk couldn’t remember, just laughed as she went with the flow. Without warning, another woman tapped the random Goddess's shoulder and spoke up. It seemed like Dusks's drunken behavior amused the gods.
“May I take this dance? He is my husband, after all.” She spoke with a calming voice while the other woman nodded,
“No problem might want to get him some water; I don’t think he can take his ambrosia.” Whoever this woman was giggled as she handed him off to Sombra.
“You soon, perrdy,” Dusk spoke as he felt her taking his hand as he started to move around in a circle. If someone was watching him and there were, they would have described how he was dancing as if they were watching a giraffe walking for the first time.
Sombra found herself rolling her eyes as she muttered,
“Last time, I let him drink with those two.”: she eyed over at Thor and Loki, the two of them drinking down more mead as she grabbed her husband’s hand, dragging him away from the woman, as she pulled him in close. A smirked as she looked at him. After drinking more ambrosia than a human should have, he looked drunk as a skunk. Yet somehow, it looked cute as she helped him sway.
Sombra watched her drunk husband, knowing he’ll be punished in the morning when the stuff wore out. She tried; the crowd watching him might have thought he was some seal trying to move around right side up. They held back their laugh at the fear of what Sombra would do to them.
“So, my drunk husband, how does it feel to be married.”
“I’m married. I thought I was drunk, eh I hope sheee pretty like you.” He muttered, his head going on her shoulder, swaying her hip. Sombra thought off the urge to snort while she patted his back, adding a bit of divine energy to him. Just enough so that his headache wasn’t too bad; after all, he wasn’t making himself look too much like an ass—just a weird seal.
Dusk had been barred from the drinks, and Loki and Thor were banned from being near him while Dusk slowly sobered up. He was tipsy when they pulled off her garter, sending it to the crowd. Old man Zeus caught it before immediately throwing it to the side, while the woman beside him looked at him with a death glare. Besides, Zeus might have been the biggest horn dog, but while his wife was around, he had some common sense.
By the end of it all, and the last of the drinks were finished, and everything was put away, Sombra helped the staggering Dusk off to the limo. The back of it reading Just married! An amusing sight while cans were put on the end, including a severed head, compliments from one of the Hindu gods, Though neither knew who it was. Dusk is sitting in the limo. Dusk was the first one inside, Sombra pushing him in while she fussed with her dress. In contrast, he was watching her get right in. Such a thing as he found himself looking at her in a new light.
“Perty.” He grunted, his voice slurring, but Sombra knew he would sober up sooner or later. Sombra managed to get herself right into that limo with a hard sigh as she sat down next to him for a good minute, a composed smile as she looked back at her husband.
“So, did you have a good night?” She spoke up with that wicked grin; Dusk nodded, though he groaned for a second. While Sombra moved in her sultry voice, whispering into his ear. “Well, thats good cause once you’re sobered up and we get to our honeymoon, I imagine we’re going to be consummating the marriage. My drunken seal.” She chuckled while grabbing his leg. Dusk nodded more,
“I think Ahm is getting there. Just give me an hour.” He leaned back, feeling himself getting comfortable by then. Yet soon, he thought he heard something. It was soft but felt like a ticking in his ear.
“Sombra… there’s a ticking. What is that?” Dusk groaned, feeling the noise going to his head as it continued. Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick.
“What are you talking about, Dusk?” Sombra said, looking at her husband, unsure what he might have meant.
“There’s a ticking; it sounds like a clock,” Dusk said, his voice turning back to normal as he rubbed his head. Sombra’s eyes widened as she had an idea of what he might have been talking about, suddenly calling out to the driver.
“Stop the limo!” The tires squealed as the car stopped right then. Sombra reached out, grabbing Dusk, and she threw him right out of the limo. He slid against the asphalt. He groaned as he moved around the grass while he saw Sombra pulling herself out of the limo. Barely moving out there, as the Limo exploded in a glorious blaze. The fire around her consumed Sombra as she moved away. Dusk watched in horror, feeling himself sobering up as he raised his hands, screaming in horror, watching as the fire consumed her.
“No!” He exclaimed the horrors as he saw the flames slowly dying out of the Limo, a black husk. A long pause while he looked at it. Feeling the heat beating off his face. At the same time, he wasn’t sure how he could react to such a sight.
“Dusk, is something wrong?” Sombra’s voice appeared behind him as He stopped finding himself blinking while he turned around. Sombra stood there, her dress on fire, as he watched in horror,
“You on fire!” He called out, running towards her, ready to put the flames out, something to stop the fire, but she raised a hand.
“Not a good idea. This is Greek fire. If it gets on you, the flames might consume you, and there’s barely anything we could do to put it out.” She reached over, taking the dress as she stood there wearing simply a bra and panties; the dress vanished as she let out a long sigh.
“This sucks; I liked that dress,” Sombra muttered, more annoyed at such a thing as she looked back at Dusk. The worried look on his face while she smiled,
“You ok there, honey.” She smirked while Dusk was trying to find the exact words to say.
“I mean, I just kind of saw you consumed by fire… that’s all; how are you even, oh right, Goddess.”
“You’re darn tooting it, hubby, Though it’s sweet that you came over to try and save sweet ol me.” She moved over, hugging him, her grip was tight, “Sure, you might not have been able to get much done, but its so sweet you considered risking your life to try and save me.” She leaned in, kissing his head, her soft lips pressing against him felt so warm, even with the Greek fire warming the area.
“Who could have caused this? I mean, who would have wanted us dead?” Dusk asked, watching as the car continued to burn away until nothing remained.
“A good few might have wanted me dead, but using Greek fire makes no sense. It wouldn’t do anything to me.” Sombra said, finding herself even more confused but shaking her head.
“We better head to our hotel room, I was hoping we could have done this the easy way, but well hold on.” Sombra’s hand swiped the air, moving slowly as if she was cutting something, and there a green light appeared. She reached over, holding his hand with the other as she muttered.
“Hold on there, baby.” She pulled him into the light, a hard flash as Dusk felt himself holding onto her. The light dimmed away while he followed her, and soon they walked through the empty nothingness. Such a thing as they moved through, he couldn’t help but find himself asking,
“What is this?” His voice seemed to echo.
“It’s the world between worlds. If you want to call it anything, I guess it’s limbo, but I once heard a man call it the abomination of outer horror. I think his name was Lovecraft. The warm light beat against his neck, as he imagined he would be a little burnt by the end of the day.
Dusk was about to turn into a shop, imagining getting Sombra something nice. Though what he could call an actual Goddess, Dusk wasn’t sure when he felt someone grab his shoulders. A gruff voice spoke up.
“Don’t move, or I’ll pour lead into you.” He growled; Dusk wasn’t sure what to say but remained perfectly still.
“Good, now move forward, don’t react; as I said, we don’t need any funny business. They began walking down the sidewalk. Dusk is trying to keep himself calm, at least for now. But he knew he had to do something fast to escape. But the man had a gun against him; he knew there was no way he could outrun a bullet.
“So, what’s your plan? Are you just going to kill me?” He asked the man as they pushed him off into an ally.
“That’s the plan, but the boss doesn’t want us to be obvious; rather, make it tactful.” The man spoke while he gave him a light kick.
“Gee, thanks, but that seems a little stupid since you could have just shot me and been done.”
“It would be easy, and your right, but the boss, Apparently wants it done specially, and he pays me.” He chuckled, pushing Dusk into the wall and smacking him. Dusk felt his head go into the brick wall as he groaned. His head hurt as he bounced off it.
The man reached around, putting Dusk into a wall. He brought out a dagger,
“I’ll tell you, I’d rather be quick and other with, but again Boss seems to want something more fancy. No hard business, It’s just working.”
“Don’t suppose you won’t negotiate. I’m sure I could get the cash to live.” He groaned as he felt dizzy as the man stood there; Dusk couldn’t focus on him to describe him; the most he could say was he was white and wearing a black shirt. Maybe he looked like Nicolas Cage when he was younger.
“Sorry, can’t do that. Normally I’d take an offer, let you live, maybe take your pinkie so I can give it over and make double my money. But The boss here, you don’t fuck with him. So going to have to do this.” There seemed to be remorse in the man’s voice, but Dusk imagined it was just the pain shooting through him doing more of the talking for him than anything else.
The knife was pushed into Dusks' arm. He felt the hot blood pouring out as he screamed in agony. The man reached over, grabbing Dusk’s mouth as he spoke up.
“Shut up. I don’t need people hearing us.” He growled. But when Dusk had the chance, he bit right onto the other man’s hand as hard as he could. He wasn’t sure, but it felt like he had removed one of his fingers. As the man pulled back. A hard growl,
“You bit me! You son of a bitch bit me!” He looked pissed, but Dusk took a moment to kick him. He was pushing his weight into it, knocking him back.
“My chance.” He groaned as he started to try and run. He was running all over the place and doing what he could to escape the man. Dusk took long, drawn-out breaths, trying to catch himself. He groaned, unsure how he could have been in such a situation, but he just had to get back out there. Maybe it would be his chance when he was suddenly grabbed from behind, looking back at the man with a hard growl.
“Just for that, I’m gonna make it a little slower.” He pulled up, revealing he was missing his pinkie. When without warning, a loud screech could be heard above them. There was a moment’s pause. The two men looked up, lost in such a screech when They saw a moth creature standing on top of the roof; Dusk knew instantly who it was as it growled.
“Leave the master be!” she called out as she dove at them. The man shook his head,
“Fuck this wasn’t what I was hoping to deal with as he reached over, pulling his gun. Dusk thought he wasn’t going to take a chance as he moved in, throwing a fist as he socked the guy right in the jaw; a hard groaned as the gun discharged, hissing Dusk in the shoulder.
“Fuck, goddamn son of a bitch!” Dusk found himself cursing out as he grabbed his shoulders. His t-shirt turned red with his blood. Pinkie Pie the Mothwoman bared her teeth at the assailant.
“How dare you to attack Madam’s Husband! I’ll tear you apart!” The happy-go-lucky mothwoman Dusk had known changed as she stood tall, her body transforming, looking more monstrous as her wings expanded, and her body looked pure muscle as she took a step, the ground shaking.
“Master, step back while I care for this piece of shit.” The mothwoman moved, though the man pointed his gun, shooting it right at Pinkie Pie. The Bullets did nothing, as he heard the gun clicking after firing the last bullet. There was a moment pause while Pinkie Pie looked at him.
“Are you finished?” she spoke that heavy voice like she was running out of patient.
“Yeah, I think this is over with.” Her reached into his pocket throwing something down as a large puff of smoke went off, and The man was gone. Pinkie Pie stopped looking puzzled as she exclaimed, “Who in the hell uses smoke Bombs!” While she wasn’t sure what was going on. When Dusk called out.
The sounds of the engine roaring, as Pinkie is right behind the car wheel, her foot on the pedal as she drove like an absolute maniac. She was swerving around, passing by the vehicles, while such a thing had moved down the road. They were going down to the hotel. A harrowing screech as the Mothwoman passed traffic, Her instincts allowing her to pass by each car. As she pushed her car to the very limit.
Dusk groaned while he leaned back in the passenger seat. His whole body hurt as he could feel the pain shooting from his shoulder.
“Gods, this hurt so much. Where are we heading to… a hospital?” He groaned, finding himself trying to stay awake, afraid about what might happen if he did fall asleep.
“We’re getting you back to the hotel. Mistress Sombra can call someone who can do far better than any hospital can; some keep yourself awake,” Pinkie exclaimed while looking over at the young man, bleeding out inside the car. Pinkie hoped she could make it back in time, her eyes looking over, watching in horror. He was losing too much blood as she pushed the car into high gear. Running through red lights, she was Unsure if there was anything she could do to save her mistress’s husband.

Sombra was sitting back comfortably. In the wake of the moment, she had decided to come back early, surprising her husband as she sat down, lying in the honeymoon suite bed, watching television. She gave a small chuckle as she was entertained by whatever was on. She didn’t care, so long as it made her laugh. Then she heard a slamming on the door.
“Mistress, open up quickly! It’s an emergency.” Sombra raised an eyebrow. It’s clear that it was Pinkamena, but what would be so important that she would interrupt such a situation? She pulled herself up, a snap of her fingers as the door opened. Pinkie walked in. Dusk was hanging off her arm as it looked like he was barely holding onto life. It was such a horrifying expression that Sombra grabbed his arm.
“Live damn you live!” She exclaimed while she began pumping her divine energy into Dusk as he gasped for air. He could feel his will growing powerful.
He coughed hard as he tried pushing himself. Dusk felt cold as he lay there for the moment. Dusk managed to mumble out.
“Room spinning, head hurts….” He coughed more. At the same time, Sombra watched him, more shocked as he started to feel the room going dark.
“This isn’t good!” was the last thing Dusk heard Sombra say as he passed out.

Dusk let out a hard groan as he found himself slowly waking up. His head is hurting badly. He tried pulling himself up. He made a long cry while he turned. “What happened?” Dusk asked while he rubbed his head. He was trying to remember what had happened. He could barely remember what happened. Yet everything was a blur. He groaned as he tried picking himself up. But when he did, a sharp pain ran over him as he let out a hard grunt.
“Crap, what the heck happened?” He muttered when he heard Sombra’s voice.
“Don’t get up; you’re still healing,” Sombra said the goddess, sitting at the end of the bed. At such a moment, Dusk saw the horror crossing her face.
“What happened?” That was all he could say. At this point, he imagined that he was a broken record.
“Someone attacked you and managed to get a few shots on you. You’re lucky that Pinkamena here had gotten to you in time; otherwise, it might have gone bad.” She looked over at the mothwoman, who looked more shocked than anything. She wore her maid outfit as she pretended to dust the room.
“Thanks, Pinkie. But why aren’t I in the hospital?” Dusk looked around, seeing that they were still in their honeymoon suite.
“We didn’t want to risk it. Whoever was trying to kill you, I suspect whoever is causing this might have a plant there. We can’t be too careful. So I brought someone in I could trust.” Sombra spoke up while Dusk found himself pulling the blanket away. The bullet wounds appeared all over his body.
“You also suffered from a concussion. But you’ll recover from that, alright.” Sombra sat down next to him for a minute.
“I’m sorry.” She said the concern in the Goddess reached over, caressing his hip.
“What for?” Dusk asked, trying to keep some conversation as he sat up. He was looking back at her.
“I got you into this situation. I never expected that someone might have come after you. Or you would get hurt this badly.” Dusk shook his head. His instincts told him to run. To run like Hell from this place. Yet a part of him, the stupider side, kept him there.
“It’s nothing; I mean getting shot. It happens all the time.” He reached around, grabbing one of the sheets. “So what are we going to do?” Dusk found himself asking. They couldn’t just sit around and wait for another attack.
“We’ve got to figure out who it is. I can’t just be throwing out who’s doing what.” Sombra responded. It was clear that she was beyond frustrated.
“Why not? You’re the leader of your pantheon. Shouldn’t you have some sway?” Dusk found himself more curious.
“An issue is that if I throw accusations and Am wrong. It could start a war between the pantheons. That’s something I can’t risk.” Sombra said as she remembered the stories of when the last two pantheons had gone to war. The Roman gods had thought they were top dogs. Legend says that Jupiter’s head was still mounted on Zeus’s wall.
“For now, we’ll have to figure out a way to keep you safe.” Sombra imagined more to it: such a passion, the horror. In contrast, she started to think of something.
“We might have to put you into hiding. At the very least, till I can figure something out.” She bit her bottom lip, hating that she might have to do this.
“I mean, I’m willing to do anything. It’s not exactly like I’m looking forward to dying.” Dusk said, a hiss escaping his lips as he jerked with pain.
“Fine, but we’ll need help, and I’m not looking forward to this. But rest, we’ll have plenty of time.” Sombra let out a long sigh as Dusk laid back, letting himself drift back to sleep. Sombra, the Goddess of War, sighed as she looked down at her hand. She might have been considered the Goddess of War, of strength. Yet, at this very moment, she felt weak. What could she do to protect her new husband?
Sombra would reach down to her phone and make a phone call. She was the only person she could rely on.
Some of her wished she had just married that snake of a god, Brutus. She never intended for the people of her land to be hurt because of her selfishness.
“I’ll have to make it up to him; at the very least, I’ve got to fix this.” She bit her lips while she summoned a glass and poured herself some red wine. She would need something to take the edge off as she made the call.

It would take Dusk three days before he fully recovered. He might have needed only two days. But Sombra insisted that he rest in bed. She had Pinkie care for him while he slept, and she told the Moth woman she needed to ensure all his whims were met.
On the second morning, Dusk explained that she did not need to take care of his morning wood. It was an awkward moment. But she understood. However, she did insist that it was her duty. Dusk almost had to put his foot down.
That was when Sombra came in, the door slamming behind her.
“Alright, I’ve made the arrangements. We’ll be heading to Ohio.” Sombra spoke while she closed the door behind her.
“Ohio… why there?”
“Because no one ever looks in Ohio. It’s like the Florida of the north part of America.” Dusk found himself pausing there. It was like something switched in his head, as he thought that was a bit of a dumb response till he remembered he was from Ohio, and it made some sense.
“But I am from Ohio; wouldn’t they expect that?”
“Why you will be undercover and not make a scene out of it. Pretend you’re from, I don’t know, Canada.” Sombra scoffed it off. But she looked over.
“It’s what I can make do. I’ve called in a lot of favors for this. You should understand. I’m having a god escort you. I’ll come when I can, but you’ve got to lay low. Remember, everyone you know thinks you are dead. I’ll come down after I know it’s clear, so relax.” Sombra said while she reached over, pulling him into a hug. Her warm embrace as she held onto him tightly. However, it didn’t help that she used too much strength, causing his back to pop loudly.
“Alright, you got it. Though who’s taking me? Did you say a God? Who is it like the American god of Truckers or something?” He asked for a minute when there was a knocking on the door.
“Not quite. I can’t use people of my pantheon. They might be watching, So I picked the only God I can trust not to fuck us over. Who no one would be watching. Especially Brutus.” She nudged him for a second as she answered the door.
Sombra pulled the door open, and there was a familiar booming voice,
“Ahh, Sombra, it’s great to see you. The wedding was great.” Walking in was the white-haired old man, better known as Zeus, the god of lighting and leader of the Olympians. Dusk wasn’t sure what to say, his mouth dropping at that.
“You called Zeus, but wouldn’t that be a bad idea? I mean Brutus and.”
“Zeus is our best move. If I or any of my gods are seen heading to Ohio with someone, they might suspect it’s you. Besides, They usually try not to bother Zeus; he does his own thing.” She thought about it more as she wanted to use someone like Odin or even Thor, but they were more popular now, thanks to Marvel Films and those God of War games. She knew they would bring in too much notice.
“Oh, relax, brother; I’ve got your back. We’ll take a fun road trip across the USA and get you over to that place in Ohio. It’ll be fun.” Zeus moved in, grabbing Dusk by the shoulders as he chuckled. Dusk gave a nervous laugh as he could feel the electricity in the air.
“Besides, when I get back to Olympus, I’ll look around and see if I can pick up who might have sent that goon off to kill you,” Zeus smirked while running his hand through his hair, a cocky expression. Dusk could see the storm-grey eyes on him, with Flashes of blue like an oncoming storm. “I don’t feel like the headache of going to war with another group of gods.” He smirked more. Dusk found himself nodding. Not sure how to feel about it while he looked at Sombra.
“As I said, it’s the best I can do. I was going to have Thor, but he’s been going to conventions to meet with his fans.”
Dusk fought off the urge to laugh, imagining Thor going to nerd conventions and partying like it was the end of the world.
“Oh please, if you wanna see partying, I know a good place to head to on our way to Ohio… Why couldn’t it be like New York? At least we know it exists.” Zeus snorted, “It’s almost like the Troy of America.”
Dusk raised an eyebrow as he mentioned once again.
“Ohio is real, and I’m from there.”
“Sure buddy, come on, pack some extra underwear, get downstairs, and we’ll go flying down the road,” Zeus smirked that cockiness on his face while he stood tall and puffed himself up. Dusk watched for a minute and went back to Sombra.
“You sure I can’t just hang with Loki or….”
“No, I am not having a repeat with Loki, trust me… We dated once.”
“Wait, what!” Dusk muttered but shook it off. However, he felt jealous of the idea of Sombra dating Loki. It was something he might have to ask her at a later date.
“Alright, go so that I can give my husband some final words,” Sombra said as she shooed him away. Zeus raised his hand.
“Fine. Oh, the great leader of the American Pantheon.” He chuckled and headed off, the door slamming behind him.
Sombra sighed; her private confidence had vanished briefly as she slumped over.
“I hate dealing with that guy sometimes, but It’ll be over soon. Hopefully, he doesn’t get us into too much trouble.”
Dusk took a second, grabbing her shoulder.
“How did you convince him to help us?” Dusk wondered more since you rarely got help from one of the most famous Gods.
“Let’s say he owes me a favor. He had an affair with the goddess of Credit cards, and I managed to cover it up before Hera found out. So he owed me one.” She smiled while Dusk found himself curious about who the Goddess of Credit Cards was. But those were questions for another day.
“Alright… So you said you had some rules for me?”
“You can’t try and contact your family. I know it’s tempting, but you can’t risk exposing yourself. Who knows what might happen and explain the situation.” She moved, raising her finger. “Another thing, you can’t just expose yourself, so no trying to win the lottery or go to places that might get you on TV.” She raised a third finger at that point.
“Try and keep a low profile regarding these things seriously. I don’t want to find you on the news because you ran into a burning building and saved puppies.” She found herself shaking her head.
“Anything else?” Dusk asked, figuring he tried not to screw this up any harder than he could.
“If you sleep with someone, please don’t let it be a God, and wear a condom. I don’t want to be dealing with a Zeus matter.” She shook her head. While she thought of it. At the same time, Dusk looked at her for a good second.
‘Why would I cheat on you?” He muttered while looking at her.
“It’s inevitable; gods have this bad habit of doing it every so often; for example, Zeus downstairs, he might be the king of the gods, but he’s also the king of horny.” She found herself shaking her head. While Dusk looked at her, he felt horrible in his gut while he leaned in, caressing her cheek.
“I don’t think I’ll do that… it wouldn’t be right beside our marriage. I made a vow.” Sure, the reason they had gotten married was a little off, but at the very least, he wasn’t going to betray her or do something as wrong as that.
“Well… you still have my permission, just try not to sleep with any gods, it’s all I ask; I don’t care if it’s with a monster or human girl. Just follow those rules until I can get up there with you.”
Sombra moved in, kissing him on the cheek.
“Don’t fuck this up. I don’t want you dying.” Though some of her knew if he did, there might be a chance that she might be forced to marry that bastard Brutus, and she wasn’t going to take a chance. It was something she swore on as she moved away. Her fingers snap as the room begins transforming. It was no longer the honeymoon suite. It was now a plain hotel room with the bed sheets fixed. Their suitcases are up and ready.
Dusk was still not used to the godly power, so watching it change amazed him even more. It transformed from the almost fancy summer home into a small hotel room with a single large mattress. It was quite something. He looked towards it for a second while Sombra the Goddess moved around and pushed him out of the door.
“Just behave yourself, and don’t let Zeus do something stupid. And try not to get into trouble.” She muttered while watching him with those stunning eyes, his heart managing to skip a beat while he felt how much she cared for him. In her own, at the very least.

Dusk stepped out of the hotel’s elevator as he saw Zeus leaning against the hotel’s counter, a broad grin on his face while he adjusted his suit.
“Well, are you two finally done? Finish that quicky of yours.” The Sky god said while he raised his hand, and a pair of keys fell out of thin air into his hand.
“We’re finished, so how will we get back to Ohio?” He asked, trying not to say anything stupid he could remember from the old myths. Zeus didn’t exactly have control over his temper. So he imagined it would be better that he didn’t say anything that might piss God off.
“Well, we’re going to take my car, of course. Cause if we’re going anywhere, we might as well go in style.” He chuckled while heading to the door. Dusk followed without much complaint as he moved behind him. Somehow, he wasn’t sure how he felt. But he kept reminding him that this was for his safety.
Now, Zeus’s car is a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The same kind Burt Rennolds drove in from Smokey and the Bandit. The car glistened and shone in the clear summer sky while Zeus smirked.
“Well, we should get going. We’re going eastbound and down.” He chuckled, winking at Dusk like he knew what the man thought while he looked over a car.
“So you decided to get a firebird… A little on the nose?”
“Well, it was either that or a thunderbird. Besides, my brother has a claim over the Maserati. So I figured I’d get something better.”
“Sorry, Zeus, hate to tell you, but the Charger is better,” Dusk smirked while the thunder god looked at him. Dusk was close to returning it, but Zeus snorted while shaking his head.
“Mortals, always so serious, haven’t smitten someone in a long time. Just get in here, you asshole.”
Zeus jumped into the car through the window and smirked. Dusk shook his head, knowing that he didn’t have much of a choice, and got in closing the passenger side. Zeus started the car, backed out, and drove fast and hard while they left the hotel room.
The car ride was long, and Dusk wasn’t sure what to say, so it was a long, quiet ride. He looked down the window, watching as they passed the mountains; the engine roared while the radio played.
His mind was running off, and he wasn’t sure what to say to the thunder god. So he remained silent. He imagined whatever he could say was something Zeus might have heard more times than once.
The ride was nice. However, it wasn’t overwhelming, just one of those rides that an average person not married to a goddess might have done.
Eventually, Zeus made a turn as Dusk took notice.
“What’s going on?” Dusk asked while noticing the dinner in the middle of nowhere while Zeus looked over, giving a wide smirk.
“Well, come on, boy, even us Gods get hungry, and we’ve been driving for a good few hours, and by the time we get to Ohio, it’s going to be at the very least tomorrow afternoon.” He nudged him in the shoulder with a smirk as he opened the car’s door and headed out.
Dusk waited a good minute, letting out a long, drawn-out sigh as he exited. He was heading into the dinner.
The dinner was simple, with tables lining the wall, right next to the windows, while the counter was pretty lovely, looking like it was made of polished wood. It reminded him somewhat of those old dinners from the 1950s as He and Zeus took a booth; they sat there for a second.
That was when the waitress came over. She was a nice-looking girl looking like she was barely out of her teens as she wore a pink uniform and white smock, her hair tied up, and she gave him a million-dollar smile.
“Well, hello, sug, what could I get you.” She looked over at the two men, and as she handed over the menu, Dusk reached over and looked over it. The classics were all on there as he considered what he might want.
On the other hand, Zeus looked at her with that wicked grin.
“Well, I could think of a few things I’d like, darling, though I’m curious what you are up to after work?” Zeus smirked as he looked at the menu.
The waitress was caught off guard by this.
“Oh, nothing much, just planning on heading home and relaxing; it’s been a crazy day here.” She smiled some while Zeus nodded, cupping his hand.
“If you are interested, maybe I can help you relax.” He reached down, offering his card. The woman watched him quietly, shocked, not sure what to say, looking over at the man for a hot second but finding herself taking the car.
“Um, let me get you guys your drink while you order.” She spoke up, her face turning beat red as she turned around. The waitress didn’t even remember that she hadn’t asked them about what they wanted to drink in the first place.
Dusk looked over at the old god in shock.
“What the hell was that about?” He asked for a second while Zeus smirked.
“Just turning on the godly charm works every time.”
“Yeah, though you might have freaked her out,” Dusk said while the waitress turned back and handed them a few drinks. He watched her for a second as she asked for their order. Dusk decided to be quick not to bother her much, as he asked for a burger and fries. The smell from the kitchen was enticing while Zeus took his time. Dusk could tell he was eye fucking the waitress, especially with how she wore that skirt.
“Hmm. How about a platter of your stake with a side of fries and, to top it off, some cream pie… It’s one of my favorites.” He winked while he handed the menu back. Dusk did the same while the waitress nodded.
“I’ll get it for you guys in a jiffy; just relax there.” She looked back at Dusk for a minute like she realized he was standing there and not ignoring him.
When the waitress was out of earshot, Dusk leaned in soon, saying,
“No, what the hell are you doing? You’re married, and she’s working. You shouldn’t be doing that.”
“Blah, you mortals and standards, I’ll let you know, back when we were well known and worshipped, women would throw themselves at me.” He smirked while leaning back.
“Cause from what I read in some of those stories, you turned into a swan and light to get it frisky with a woman.”
“Those were revisionist history; the woman didn’t want her husband knowing she got a taste of me,” Zeus said with a chuckle.
“Yeah, and Hera?” Dusk raised an eyebrow, knowing this could lead to some horrible actions.
“Oh her, blah between you and me, I think she enjoys it. Helps keep our marriage alive, if you know what I mean.” Zeus chuckled. It wasn’t long before the waitress returned with their food, placing it down as she looked at them.
“I hope this is all to your liking, and if you need anything else, I’m sure I can help you with that.”
“Oh, I’m sure that there are a few things you can do that’s worth my liking,” Zeus said, giving that smile. It reminded Dusk of a dirty old man in the way he spoke but kept on smirking while the waitress, red in the face, turned back and left. Zeus, though, would take a minute longer checking out her fine ass.
Dusk rolled his eyes at the God’s behavior. In contrast, he started munching on his meal. He had to admit it. The thing tasted good. There’s a moment’s pause while he looks back at Zeus, who is eating his stake.
“So, who do you think is trying to kill me?” Dusk asked while pushing for half a second. Zeus watched him while he took another bite.
“Not sure, though I’ll get to the bottom of it eventually, though it shouldn’t be much trouble.”
“Do you think it might be Brutus?” Dusk asked while imagining that it was that guy. How pissed he was about trying to do that.
“Oh, there’s a good chance, though he can easily deny it. But I don’t want to blame him… He’s one of my kids and all, probably the last one I had, and the struggle to keep that one alive with Hera being annoyed wasn’t easy.”
“Wait, he’s one of your kids? I thought he was like Aries kid or something.”
“Nope, mine, see back when this moron Jupiter tried to take over my reign as King of the gods, I managed to get his wife cause the two of us looked close, and one thing led to another, and she had my kid. Now that caused a war, I’ll tell you what.” Zeus snorted, thinking about that event.
“Uh-huh,” Dusk muttered while dipping some of his fries in ketchup. There’s a moment pause while Dusk thought about something.
“So… why did you make a deal with Sombra after Apollo died? I mean im sure you could pull one of your many kids out.” It was something that bugged him while he looked towards the Old God. Zeus let out a long sigh putting his fork down.
“Always that question… You really wanna know?”
“Be nice to know why this is all happening,” Dusk said, leaning back. It was driving him nuts, as the old god let out a long sigh.
“Truth is, I could replace Apollo easily, I could have picked from various others. But its the principle of it all. Your wife’s Pantheon killed one of my son’s my boy. So I wanted a bit of vengeance. Now I figured its fair your gods did the replacement. While Brutus has been bugging me for a wife since well. If it’s not obvious, he’s not a popular god.”
“Gee I wonder why?” Dusk said thinking about how he met the God. Though there’s a second pause.
“Yeah, but I promised him, and as the King of my pantheon, I have to honor it. Though there was no takers.”
“So you decided to dump his ass onto Sombra to try and satisfy him?”
“Well, yeah, basically, but when she requested time to find her husband, I figured sure why not, plus I performed my end of the bargain, I said I’d find him a wife not that I’d give him a wife.” Zeus leaned back while Dusk groaned.
“Well, I suppose you should have just said no right?”
“Meh, I wasn’t doing much that day, and he bugged me a good bit,” Zeus muttered while he looked out the window, seeing it was getting dark. The sun slowly setting in the distance.
“I think we should rest for the night,” Zeus said with a smirk. Dusk watched him raising an eyebrow.
“Why, I mean, we could drive through the night. It shouldn’t take us more than a few hours.”
“Trust me, it’s not good to go out in the middle of the night, and things out there can cause us trouble. Darker gods.” Zeus said while taking a bite out of his stack.” Dusk watched him for a minute, clearly not buying the excuse that the Sky God was giving but groaning.
“Fine, but you’re paying for the hotel.” He mumbled while leaning back and finishing up his fries.
“Oh yes, my good man, I’ll pay.” Zeus chuckled while he asked for the check and, seeing the price, handed the bill to Dusk. A hot moment later. Dusk paid for the meal. Zeus had left a rather large tip along with his number. Dusk was tempted to grab the slip of paper and toss it but Figured the waitress would get rid of it herself. At the very least, she got an excellent tip from the god.

They stayed at a Days inn. Now the place was interesting, as they stepped into the building. The glass walls were exposed as Dusk looked around seeing the various rooms lining it, as he could see inside them. Reminding himself he was going to need to close the blinds.
Zeus walked over and got their rooms, he took one and Zeus took the other one. Before they headed out. When Dusk sat down and got himself comfortable. He leaned back laying on the bed.
While he laid there, finding himself wondering what Sombra was doing. If he would see her soon?
There was just that silence as he looked at the Tv, turning it on, though he found there wasn’t really much and so turned it off. It’s not like he wanted to watch much of anything. While grabbing his phone, he found himself scrolling through Facebook.
He found himself checking out his family timeline, so far, they were in silence. He wanted to talk to them, say something to them, for the most part. Yet he just sat there, knowing he couldn’t. Though while he lay there he found himself thinking about Sombra more. Somehow he felt angry, a part of him wondering what if she hadn’t saved him, and let him die. Sure he wanted to live. But now he had to wonder how his family was doing, what they were feeling. Dusk imagined hugging his mom again.
Yet at the same time he knew if he did. How would she feel knowing he was alive after thinking he was dead. It somehow made him think about much it would her hurt to know that. This made him scowl seeing Rarity’s Facebook. The way she was on there, talking about her weekend how happy she was. The way she was taking pictures like there wasn’t a care in the world. He felt himself wanting to chuck the phone again.
He wanted to do something rash feeling his blood boil, his head pounding as he felt his body shaking as he took long deep breaths. Thoughts running through his head as he stopped when he heard the pounding running against the wall.
It stopped him for a half second as he found himself looking over to the side. It was there he realized the room next to him is the one Zeus had went into.
“No… that can’t be possible… How?” He found himself looking at the wall for a second hearing the groans and moans going off. Dusk looked away for a second.
“Well I’ll be a monkeys uncle. That somehow worked?”
He stopped thinking about Rarity, his anger vanishing as he found himself shocked that somehow Zeus was fucking some woman in the other room. It made him stop to sit back down. Trying to figure out what he was going to do. Laying down in the bed.
He eventually found himself falling Asleep, letting his mind wander away for the longest time into that black voice of nothingness.

Dusk couldn’t believe his eyes as he stood in his tiny bedroom, his eyes watering while holding the bottle of champagne. He had the bottle in one hand and two glasses while he looked over at his girlfriend, a woman he had loved for over five years. Today was supposed to be their fifth anniversary. He was looking at her with only a single question on his mind.
“Rarity, why?” He muttered, finding the bottle heavy in his hand while looking at the woman.
“Dusky, It’s not what you think!” Rarity said as she tried covering herself up. The person next to her gave a wide smirk, the kind an asshole does when they think they did something funny when all they did was made themselves look more like an asshole.
The person next to Rarity looked like a woman, yet at the same time, not a woman, short crude cut haircut with one side shaved off while having an obnoxious red dye on the side; while they leaned back, there was the patch job beard growing like they were still trying to grow it out. Dusk wasn’t sure what to say when he found his legs wobbling.
“Then what is it then? You’re both naked in bed, and they’re …” He felt his eyes burning as he thought off the tears reminding himself Men don’t cry, we don’t…He felt angry when he looked back and noticed more. The person was wearing a strap-on, and he felt his grip on the bottle tightening as he wasn’t sure how he felt. Dusk wanted to say something or do something when he asked next.
“Who is she?” He tried not to growl, trying his hardest to keep his voice leveled and cooled. While the person gave him a dirty look the moment Dusk said she.
“His names are Rainbow Dash and Dusky, and I know them from work,” Rarity said while she spoke up, while Rainbow Dash there smiled at her while moving in, pawing Rarity like they were a teenager on prom night.
“Don’t do that.” Dusk snapped, not happy to see what was going on.
“Or what?” Rainbow Dash spoke while looking back, seeming like they were trying to look bigger than they were. If anything, Rarity might have had fifty pounds over them, while Dusk, a more hefty man, clearly could have picked them up like they were nothing.
Dusk imagined he’d tell Rainbow Dash there he’d kick their ass, but the way he raised, he wouldn’t do that; it would’ve been a cold threat, as he kept holding onto the bottle, trying to hold back his temper. Don ’t lose your Temper, Dusky. It’ll get you in trouble.
“Rarity, how could you? I— I love you. I was going to.” He looked down and saw the slight bulge in his pocket, the bulge holding a ring as he planned to ask her to marry him. Though at this point, that wasn’t going to happen. Not anymore.
“You were never around Dusky, you’re always working, and when you weren’t, you just slept most of the day.”
“I worked night Rarity; you know that; I was helping my parents, I was helping you go through school. I have to sleep sometimes, and I thought you understood this!” Dusk said, not realizing his voice was getting louder; he felt his spine tightening as a fire grew in his stomach. A harsh deep breath while Rarity spoke up.
“I’m sorry, An—“
“Don’t call me that; you have no right.” Dusk interrupted Rarity right then as he felt his other hand tightening into a fist while Rainbow Dash raised his voice,
“Hey, don’t talk to her like that!” Rainbow Dash spoke up, sounding like they were trying to make their voice deeper but still hadn’t got the hang of it.
“First off fuck off; this is between her and me, so get your ass out of my bed! Second, maybe the fact she cheated on me with a woman. I have the right to be a bit fucking angry!” Dusk spoke up as he found his heart speeding up and started getting worked up. Rarity suddenly responded.
“Rainbow Dash is a man, Dusk; you should be using him!”
“I don’t think that the biggest issue here, Rarity! Maybe you should cut me some slack in this situation since, well, this! You’re not in a position to tell me what I can and can’t do!”
This made Dusk raise his voice even louder, his heart feeling like it was close to shattering,
“Why didn’t you just break up with me, or I don’t know, not cheat on me!” He spoke more from the heart, but he was screaming at this point while Rarity sat there; maybe there was shame in her eyes, or it could have been contempt, but Dusk couldn’t tell all he knew was he was saying red.
“Maybe if you weren’t such a shitty boyfriend, she wouldn’t have done something like this,” Rainbow Dash spoke up, the smugness in his voice as Dusk had to use every ounce of strength not to try and kill them. He was holding back everything as he felt pure hatred.
“I’m leaving, and when I come back, I want the both of you out of my fucking apartment!” Dusk said, as without warning, he took the bottle of champagne and chucked it as far as he could. The sound of glass shattering while Dusk turned around, entered his pockets and walked away. He had to do something to get his mind off what he had witnessed.
“Dusky, get back here! We’re not done yet!” Rarity called out, giving a shrill scream as her nose bunched up, but Dusk ignored him, walking away, never looking back.

When Dusk left his apartment, he walked off to the nearest bar and wasn’t going to drive; he didn’t trust himself behind the wheel right then. He took long deep breaths as he tried to calm himself. Yet every time he tried, Dusk found himself getting angry. He wanted to go back, scream at them more, do something. Yet those thoughts scared him as he kept pushing those feelings down.
“I need a drink; I just… Why did she do this to me?” He hated himself as he made a turn into the closes bar. A small dive with the sigh, Jack’s legends. He walked in, trying his best to keep calm and not show weakness, as he moved to the bartender and quickly ordered a beer.
The bartender watched him for a second. The stone-cold expression on his face as he reached under the counter, handing him a beer while he turned around to get back to work.
Dusk sat there for a second. Taking a long drink, letting the bitter taste go down his throat as he put the beer down. The place had a live band, as he looked over. They weren’t that good, though Dusk wasn’t exactly a music critic. Still, if he had a guess, they were a tribute band. What tribute band? Well, Dusk wasn’t sure; the microphone somehow managed to drown out the terrible singing.
So Dusk sat there alone, drinking his beer. Then he had another one, then another, and another one. Throughout the night, Dusk kept sucking down the long-neck bottles like they were going out of style. Throughout the night, he continued drinking, trying to get rid of his sorrow, but the more he drank, the more pain he felt as he heard a voice in his head.
It was soft at first, telling him that he needed to go back there yelling at him, then it got louder telling him things that a sober version of him would have been horrified to hear.
It only got worse, but the voice told him, come on, pal, take another drink. Just another one; I ’m sure you’ll feel better after that. He finished another beer when he said to the bartender,
“Another one, pal.” His voice sounded slur, as he barely kept his eyes open—the sadness in his voice as he looked like a complete mess.
The bartender looked at him for a short second while shaking his head,
“You’re done, pal. Get some water.” The bartender dropped a glass of water for him, “Now drink up and go home.” The man spoke while watching him. The bartender had seen plenty of people like this, the heartbroken. He didn’t need the kid’s story to see it, but the way he was guzzling down beers, the bartender knew that it must have just happened.
Dusk didn’t like this, as he pushed the water away, “No, I want another beer!” he dropped his card down, but the man behind the counter shook his head, pushing the card back at him.
The bouncer came over, having the feeling there was trouble. “Not going to take your money, now drink the water and get out of here, your way over the limit.” He kept his voice calm while looking above Dusk’s head, his eyes on the bouncer.
“No, I can handle my drinking now. Just give me the fucking beer.” Dusk moaned, clearly swaying side to side.
“I’m sorry, but by law, I won’t be; now, this nice man will call you a cab. Where do you live?” The bartender spoke professionally but also carefully. He thought he saw a flash of killer intent in the drunken haze. If Dusk didn’t get sobered up, he might do something he might regret.
Dusk was itching for a fight, his mind wanting something to take away the pain, though with how drunk Dusk was at the time. The bouncer moved in a large man, who grabbed his shoulder. Though Dusk, not thinking much too drunk to even care, turned around and threw a fist at the more prominent man. The bouncer just moved out of the way a couple of steps causing Dusk to fall over landing on the ground.
Dusk lay there a couple of minutes before. Finally, the bouncer picked him up, tossing him right out the window. A quick grunt as Dusk landed outside the bar looking over at the bouncer.
“Hey, I ain’t done there yet; I need another drink!” He called out while stumbling around though the bouncer shook his head.
“Just go; you’re done for the night, got it, pal? Sober your ass up.” The bouncer shook his head, finding Dusk looked pathetic as he headed right back inside, not saying much, while the drunken man spat on the ground,
“I don’t need you, and I can go find another drink myself!” Dusk screamed to the heavens, not caring who heard him as he began stumbling off into the cold city, A city that didn’t care if he lived or died, A town that had no mercy for him as he would drunkenly head off.

Dusk walked for some time, and his body straightened out as he slowly sobered up; though it was clear he was still drunk like any skunk, he looked up at his apartment complex. Looking at the place, he decided to make his way inside. However, he wouldn’t go to his apartment.
No, not there; he didn’t want to be alone in that place as he climbed up to the roof. He stumbled his way up as he closed the door behind him. Dusk just let out a long grunt as he saw his cold breath. It seemed like the days only got colder as he panted.
“When will it ever get warmer? It’s always fucking cold.” He spoke out, the bitterness in his voice as he looked off. Wishing he could do something, hoping he could take back what dignity Rarity had stolen from him. He reached down into his pocket while looking at the ring box. His blood boiling as he looked to the city and let out another scream calling out,
“Fuck you, Rarity, go to hell!” He found himself throwing the ring box as far as he could. Wherever it landed, Dusk didn’t care; he didn’t care about anything at this point, only wanting to let out his hatred. He fell, stumbling as he looked over the edge.
“Why am I even alive?” He muttered to himself, his anger seeming to leave him feeling self-pity while he watched the edge, hearing a small voice; we could jump. Who would even notice Rarity cheated on us? That voice, the one lodged deep within him, sounded so tempting, like a mistress calling a lover as he looked to the side.
Come on, Dusk baby, it ’s just a leap, and this pain your feeling it’s all over. Come on and just jump; it’s your ultimate fuck you. She wants to leave you, okay? It's blood on her hands. He looked at the edge, that voice so tempting as he felt his heart slowing down. While he looked at it, he muttered,
“Would anyone miss me? What do I have to live for?” Dusk started reaching over, putting one leg over the railing right over the other, as he found himself stumbling over and there. Dusk Shine began to fall into the great darkness.
That was when without warning, Dusk began falling, his adrenaline shot through him as if he was just injected in the arm, and he screamed. His body hits the end of one of the flag poles, holding the American flag. He screamed in horror while realizing what was happening.
“No! Not this way!” It was as if the real him had taken over as he felt horror run over himself, realizing what he had done. Flashes of his family came over him as he looked down, seeing how far the ground was. It only made him scream even louder,
“Shit, Shit! This isn’t good. I don’t want to die.” Dusk tried to pull himself up but found it did nothing as his arms wobbled. Dusk held on for dear life. His eyes widened while looking around. He saw the window across from him,
“Hey, open the window! Open your damn window. I’m going to fall!” he screamed his loudest yet found no one answering him. While he looked around, he saw if there might be someone that might be able to help him in his moment of need.
“I see you need some help.” A voice soft and calm spoke, which caught Dusk’s attention. Dusk looked straight up; someone was sitting on the pole. She sat there like it was nothing as Dusk looked up. She was wearing a black leather jacket and long jeans and had Long black hair; her arms were crossed behind her back like she wasn’t sitting on a pole high in the air while Dusk looked at her, the fear in his now sober eyes.
“Yes, can you help me please oh god, please help me!” He wasn’t sure if this was a part of his imagination or if she was there. His hands slipped while the woman smirked,
“Well, sure, I’ll give you a hand, but you must do something for me.” She spoke with a near-southern twang as she bobbed her head back and forth, nodding like a part of her was elsewhere.
“Anything. Please get me out of here; I don’t want to die,” Dusk muttered, his hands feeling like they were slipping as he used every ounce of strength to try and hold on. The mysterious woman seemed to watch him with a light smirk.
“You’ll do anything, huh? Are you sure about it? I can be a bit demanding.” She spoke simply enough while swaying her legs around like she was trying to be playful. But Dusk barely noticed this.
“Yes, I’ll do anything, just please; I don’t want to die! I want to live!” he cried for help as he felt a hand slip. Looking down, Dusk found himself screaming in complete terror while watching his life flash before his eyes. Seeing past friends seeing his parents, and wondering what would happen to all of them if he died made him want to live even more.
“Well, I suppose I can, but you must promise to repay your debt.” The woman spoke as she seemed to look down at him. Her foot dangling down near where his hand had once been. Dusk tried reaching over to grab it, but he could barely do that. As he tried pulling himself up when he heard a snapping sound.
“Alright, I’ll save you, and remember, you better keep your end of the deal.” Then without warning, He heard the woman snap her fingers.
“By the way, my name is….”
But before Dusk could hear her name, he began to fall, and with it, he would scream, falling into the darkness of the black city. But as he fell, he heard soft giggling.

Without warning, Dusk felt his head shooting up as he found himself covered in sweat; a rough scream escaped his lips for a minute as he soon reached over, covering his mouth as he felt pain shooting through his head,
“Gah! What… what the?” He moaned out, rubbing his head. He felt the effects of his hangover ravaging his mind while he closed his eyes shut.
“I have to stop drinking.” He mumbled under his breath while he reached over, “Rarity, are you there? Could you get me some aspirin?” There was no response, as he found the unnerving silence.
“Rarity, are you there?” Dusk muttered while he pulled himself up. That was when he realized something and He wasn’t in his room— No, he was no longer in his apartment as he looked around his new location.
The room was something, a giant golden chandelier hanging over them, the way the crystals shimmered over him. The bed was quite something as if it was meant to hold more than two people, heck he imagined that it could have given people and still left room for one person. In contrast, as he looked over, the rest of the room reminded him of one of those fancy ballrooms, the kind typically reserved for the rich.
“What did I do last night?” Slowly he began remembering some of it. Remembering the fight with Rarity when he caught her cheating on him. “Oh god… what did I do?” He muttered, feeling like he was about to get sick. A slight bit of vomit was coming for him as he pulled back, managing to swallow the bile as he began getting out of bed.
He looked around, realizing he was standing in his underwear, as Dusk groaned, trying to figure out how he got in this bed. But somehow, Dusk imagined it would cost him more than he could afford.
“Maybe I should sneak out or something?” Dusk grumbled to himself, trying to find where his pants might have been. He stopped for a second as he finally noticed one of the walls filled with various weapons. Dusk couldn’t help but admire them. As he walked over, there were spears and swords, which looked quite intriguing.
“Heh, this is neat. Whoever owns these has quite the taste.” While he looked around for a second, he was alone when he had an idea. He reached over, grabbing one of the spears as he held it for a second, admiring its weight. He stood there posing. His eyes were on the full-boy mirror on the other side of the room as he looked at himself.
“This is pretty cool.” Dusk joked while he stood in his underwear, holding a spear like a Spartan ready for battle. “Though admittedly, I look a bit goofy.” He chuckled, laughing at himself while he looked at the mirror seeing himself.
Dusk was just an average-looking guy, a bit leaner, with bits of muscles mainly focused on his arms and legs, while the rest of him looked skinny. A five o’clock shadow grew on his face, with dark rings around his eyes. If he cleaned up, he might have examined alright, but he looked like complete shit.
“I have to agree you do look a little goofy.” This caught Dusk off guard. He felt like he was about to jump out of his skin as he turned around to see who it was. There he saw her.
The woman standing there, with long black hair with a red stripe, wearing white silk lingerie with a bright million-dollar smile, as she walked in walking with great confidence. Her hips swayed back and forth. Dusk could say she was in great shape—the sight of her muscles. Dusk could almost imagine she could lift him with no trouble as she stopped before him.
“I see you’re interested in my spear there, Dusk.” The woman said as she caressed Dusk’s hand, caressing it as she would take the spear from him.
“I mean, it’s a pretty nice spear; where’d you get something like that.”
“Oh, it’s nothing, just a part of a vast collection, though some call it the Spear of Destiny. Took me a while to find something like that.” She spoke in a calm way that showed she was the one in control. Dusk looked at her for a minute; eyebrow raised as he chuckled,
“That's the Spear of Destiny?” He could barely believe that while the woman nodded,
“Oh yes, Dusk, it is, it took some time to find it, but I managed to get my hand on it. A wonderful thing to collect along with the others on my wall.” The mysterious woman started to walk across the wall, slowly gliding her hands over the various weapons.
“Take this sword, and it’s a special one once said to be owned by Attila the Hun, the Sword of Mar’s.” She smiled, pulling the blade off, admiring the curved edge as she swung it for a second. Dusk watched, not sure what to say, as he stepped away.
“Um, I hate to be a bother, but who are you?” He asked while he kept an eye on the blade. He didn’t want to anger the woman with a sword in her hand.
“Oh, don’t you remember I told you it last night?” The woman spoke as she put the blade back onto the wall, letting Dusk sigh in relief before quickly responding to her.
“Last night was a blur. Would it be possible that you could remind me?” That wasn’t a lie, and he couldn’t remember much at the moment, hoping that maybe he’ll gain his memory back at a later time. As the woman walked over. Her Silken Lingerie exposed her ample bosom just a bit as she leaned in,
“Well, I think it’ll be fair to tell you my name again, Dusk… Can I call you Dusky?” She said her finger circled his chest. He bit his lips, unsure what to say, and shook his head.
“I think Dusks is fine for now.” He said, trying to keep himself in control. While she nodded,
“Well, If you insist, Dusk, but please call me Sombra, If you must. Now I do think we should get you something to eat. After that fall you had last night, you must be starving.”
She smirked, caressing his cheek. Dusk was both uncomfortable but liked how she moved her hard against his chin, like a lover. However, he pulled back from her hand.
“Fall? What are you—“ He found flashes of memory hit him like a train crashing into a bug. It obliterated as he grabbed his head, screaming in pain, as he began remembering his fall, how he hit the pole, and then the woman—the woman who just called herself Sombra. Dusk tumbled around, grabbing the mirror for support as he looked back.
“What… what in the!” He was trying to find the right words while he looked back at the woman.
“You… You let me fall or…” his voice trailed off, remembering the fall and how he screamed, oh god, how he cried and the horror of it. Then there was nothing, no splat. It was like something had carried him off. But the idea of him splatting made him shiver.
“No, I saved you, but I had to do something also. Now come on, my dear, breakfast should be ready. You’ve got clothes In the drawers for you.” She pointed over as Dusk looked over and noticed the dresser beside him. It hadn’t been there before; he was sure of it.
“Maybe I just didn’t notice it before. I’ve got such a hangover.” He moved over, opening the drawers, where he saw a pair of pants and a t-shirt as he moved to put them on. He even found his wallet in the other drawer, as he put it away, wondering where he was. But who is this Sombra? What is she?
Dusk couldn’t help but wonder if This Sombra was even human. He followed behind her as she started walking down the corridor. Her hips swayed back and forth as he looked at her.
“So, how did you save me? Who are you, If you don’t mind me asking?” Dusk wondered while he managed to catch up to her.
The walls were lined with art, each depicting battles from history, while some showed Milly pitcher as she filled a cannon. He continued walking,
“Oh, I’m sorry, you’re wondering who I am; well, no reason to hide it from you.” She smirked as her hand waved over, as the doors at the end of the hall began to open.
“I am a Goddess, Dusk, If you must ask.” She spoke with such a simple thing. Now, Dusk might have questioned that as he shook his head,
“A goddess? I mean…” Dusk seemed more stumped while she smirked.
“Why yes, I guess you could consider me an American Goddess. Every country has its pantheon, and I’m one of America’s gods.”
“America… Has gods? I thought….”
“What Christianity, Catholic, Or Baptist? Oh, Heavens, I’m afraid most get it wrong; there is no singular god; that's too much power for one being, omnipotent and omniscient. It would drive someone mad; no, many Gods and goddesses exist worldwide. Every culture has a pantheon.” Sombra spoke more, walking through the dining room. They weren’t alone now as Dusk saw people moving around, filling the table, as he groaned. Soon one of them walked over, handing him a couple of pills.
“For your head, master.” The woman spoke; Dusk took them but found himself almost jumping back. The woman had snakes instead of hair on her head. Green scales instead of skin as she walked off.
“Um… What was that?” He asked, watching the woman walk away, and soon realized she didn’t have legs. She was slithering away.
“She’s a Naga, a cousin of the medusa’s though she’s more like a diamondback rattlesnake, so be careful. Her name is Marry.” Sombra spoke with a light chuckle as Dusk watched the other woman heading off.
“Um, good to know… So, there is a snake woman, and… Other gods? But who are the others if you are just one of America’s gods?”
“Oh, a few are running around, I’m certain; some hang out with the old Gods, some are doing their job, and others are messing around with mortals like you.” She smirked as she took a seat. The strings from her top moved down her shoulders, giving Dusk a peak.
“Alright, um, so Where Am I? Is this like Heaven or something?”
“Oh no, not in Heaven; you’re still alive, and a living soul can’t go there; your mind wouldn’t be able to handle it; no, you’re in one of my homes, around the united states.”
“One of your homes?” Dusk asked though he found that the more he asked, the more questions he had for Sombra the Goddess.
“Well, I have a few places I need to be, though this is where I frequent, it’s pretty lovely, But please, this is going to be our home now.” She teased while she snapped her fingers; more people came in workers. But Dusk wondered if they were also Naga’s, but he could barely tell they went by so fast as they laid down their breakfast. He looked down, seeing what was placed before him.
“I hope you don’t mind. I picked what I imagined you would enjoy, Dusk.” She spoke while Dusk watched his food.
“This is pretty good, but something is bothering me.”
“Oh, and what's that?” Sombra asked, leaning forward and giving him another glimpse of her pale bosom.
“Well, a few of them was why you visited me; why would a God want with me at all? I’m no one, but… Well, you said you’re a Goddess, but what kind of Goddess are you anyway? I mean, how come I never heard of you? No one ever spoke about America’s Gods?”
Sombra seemed to smile, liking what she heard. She reached down, taking one of the crisp pieces of bacon, which Dusk thought looked burnt.
“Please have a bite; I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I’ll be answering your questions in due time. But I can answer some of the easier ones. I’m the Goddess of Strength and War. The very concept of those itself. As for why we American Gods don’t reveal ourselves, we are far too busy to deal with the mere mortals; sure, we take your prayers and wants, but we also have our work to do.” She spoke straight to the point while moving to take a long drink of something red. Dusk couldn’t help but think it was wine.
“But we pay attention to what you say and do; some of us are stronger than others. I know I’m more blessed than others. Whenever there is war, I feel stronger, as most war gods do; when our lands declare war on something, It’s like we are receiving prayers. Now America, we are a country of war. Drug War, Race War, and War on other countries. It’s like a battery, and it fuels me and influences me. Sure, we have peace. Yet War… War is eternal; it’s what built this nation. I’m America’s first god, even if they don’t know it.” She continued speaking there while Dusk watched her.
“I am the strength of America itself as well; these two concepts, The strongest fact of this country. While I said there are other gods, some as strong, the god of Poverty, the Goddess of Lust and death, We are sometimes born and formed. But we exist, and humans like you, well… you give us as much life as we bless you.” She smirked while Dusk watched his mouth drop.
“I— It… So much.” He muttered while Sombra chuckled,
“Please eat, it’ll take your mind off that for now, but I’m sure I can answer some of your other questions as the time comes.” Dusk would do just that taking a bite out of the bacon first before moving on to the sausage and eggs, and they were quiet good, he had to admit, yet at the same time he found himself stuffing his face.
He continued munching over while looking at the woman claiming that she was a war god, but he found himself wondering more, as he slowed down.
“So, again, you never answered this, what debt do I owe you?”
Sombra smirked while she took another bite, letting the sausage move past those succulent lips as she took a bite and looked to him.
“Well, You owe me your life, since I saved your life, you in fact owe me your life. I intend you to pay me back.” Sombra smiled as she continued eating the breakfast. Dusk on the other hand wasn’t sure how of this.
“So are you going to sacrafice me, or have me kill someone else? Cause I won’t kill someone else.” Though a flash of Rarity, and that Rainbow Dash fellow, had popped into his head while he felt anger bursting through his skull, as he grabbed his head.
Sombra though watched him for a second as she suddenly burst’s into a fit of laughter, that made Dusk wonder what he said that was so funny.
“What’s so funny?” He asked quickly, while Sombra continued giggling.
“Oh the thought that you think I would sacrifice you, how silly is that, if I was going to sacrifice you why in the world would I even save your life. No, just no. I have plans for you and not to have someone kill you. You owe me your life not your death. No I have something more important in mind.”
Sombra pushed the chair back as she got up, her hips swaying as she walked to the other side of the table looking at him. Those eyes, it was the first time he noticed them, they were red, like pure blood, as she watched him with a sort of hunger. The kind animals on the hunt had when they found the perfect prayer. It didn’t help him with his feeling that she was going to sacrifice him.
“So If you’re not going to sacrifice me then what do you want?” Dusk asked not even sure what to say while he looked at the War Goddess, who smirked as she leaned in.
“I want you to marry me.” She said simply her hand touching the table as she glided her hand around as a box appeared, in fact it was the same box that he tossed the other night, as she opened it revealing the gold band.
“In exchange for saving your life you must become my husband, from now untill the day you die.” She said with a wide grin, like a cat. Dusk watched her for a second not sure what to say, yet went for the first word that came to his head,
“Wait what?!” He muttered out as he looked at the goddess holding the box, and on one knee before him.
“Marry me simple as that, in exchange for you to live, you become my husband. So what do you say?” Sombra said as she looked him in the eyes. Those blood red eyes. As he sat there stunned not even sure if he could say yes or no, and worst of all, what if he does say no what would she do.
“What… What would me become your husband do for me? I mean what would I have to do?” He asked, though Sombra smile vanished as she looked almost annoyed,
“Humans, always curious and wondering, it’s both your most fascinating and annoying features you’ve developed. But if you want to know. You Becoming my husband would be simple.”
Sombra stood up, and from the position they were, she looked like a giant. It was quiet something as she walked around him.
“But if you must know, as my husband you will be required to be a good husband, try not to cause me any trouble, Give me at least one or two kids, like any normal couple. You also can’t embarrass me in front of the other gods.”
Sombra moved in her finger under his chin lifting his head,
“Do you understand that. I think its a fair deal, you’re life, and you become my husband, it’ll be simple.” She said, while Dusk looked at her for a minute, seeing there wasn’t any down sides.
“Sure, I’ll marry you, but I really don’t know you. I mean… Yes.” He said while Sombra nodded,
“Good, we’ll have the ceremony in about a week understand. I want us to be married as soon as possible. But as one of my top gods I’ll need witnesses from people in my pantheon. Do you understand that.” Sombra spoke with that wild smile. Dusk nodded understanding what she meant, Though a thought came other him.
“What about my parents… My family? Will they be ok?”
“They’ll be fine, I know a couple of gods that I’m sure will look out for them, though you won’t be able to see them again.” Almost like pulling it out from air, Sombra brought out a newspaper, and showed it. Dusk looked into it, where he saw it an obituary, reading,
Dusk Shine (Dusky) Died age twenty-seven leaving behind his parents and girlfriend. He died in the early hours of the morning death by suicide. His funeral will be held at the St. Francis Funeral home in New charlise. Where he will be buried.
To the world Dusk Shine was dead, but for Dusk Shine, his life was only beginning. Whether he knew it or not, He was about to begin a new chapter in his life.
