THE BREWING STORM

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

(Sureiya’s 1st POV)

I awoke to the first rays of sunshine leaking through the blinds, shining right into my eyes. As I stirred, I glanced around at the current occupants of the bed—Miia, Rachnera, Rumi, and Gobuko were all nestled together. I could also sense Shion within my body.

However, Boosette was missing. The delicious aroma wafting from downstairs quickly gave me a clue as to where she was. Sliding out of bed as quietly as possible, I made my way downstairs, the scent of eggs and manticore sausage filling my nose.

Sure enough, the one responsible for the heavenly smell was floating around the kitchen, humming a cheerful tune.

With a grin, I approached her from behind, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her close. She let out a startled gasp before I leaned in and whispered into her ear, “There you are, my little ghost.”

I began to gently plant kisses along her neck, savoring the way she moaned softly with delight. It had been three days since the girls moved in. Expanding the house and my room wasn’t too difficult, though building a bed big and sturdy enough to hold all of us—especially during our more intimate moments—had taken quite a bit of effort. But looking at everything now, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of satisfaction. Life was good.

“You know,” Boosette purred with a playful grin, “after what you did last night, I can only move around in my ghost form. Walking? Not an option right now.”

I chuckled, meeting her mischievous gaze. “What can I say? You girls really bring the beast out of me at night.”

Her grin softened, and she cupped my cheek, her voice dipping into something more tender. “I never thought I’d ever experience this kind of happiness. I lost so much… but being here with you… it feels like I’ve gained twice as much.” Her whisper was as gentle as a breeze, but it hit me deeply.

I kissed her forehead and smiled, the moment making my heart swell. “I know how you feel,” I replied softly. Then, after a moment of hesitation, I added, “Actually, I’ve been thinking about something… and I’m not sure how you’ll feel about it.”

She raised an eyebrow, curiosity lighting her expression. “What is it?”

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. “I’ve been thinking about adopting Nezuko,” I said, my tone serious but filled with hope.

Boosette paused, turning off the stove before facing me fully. Her smile was warm, understanding. “If I’m being honest, I’m not surprised. She’s so attached to you, and you already treat her like she’s your daughter. And don’t think we haven’t noticed how happy it makes you when she calls you ‘Daddy.’”

(Flashback)

“What’s wrong, Nezuko?” I asked, seeing her slither toward me with a sad expression.

Her voice was soft and uncertain. “Mr. Sureiya, why don’t I have a daddy?”

The question stopped me in my tracks, catching me completely off guard. “What do you mean, sweetie?” I asked, trying to understand.

“At school, everyone was talking about their mommies and daddies. But when the teacher asked me, I told her I didn’t have one.”

Her words broke my heart. I knelt down and gently pulled her into a hug, my voice soft but firm. “Oh, Nezuko… I’m so sorry. But you do have me. I may not be your real daddy, but I promise I’ll always take care of you, just like a daddy would.”

She looked up at me, her big blue eyes shimmering with hope. “Does that mean I can call you Daddy?”

My heart skipped a beat. Being a father had always been something I dreamed of—a chance I thought was stolen from me when I died. Sure, I might have another chance someday with the girls, but this… this was Nezuko, seeing me as her father figure. And that meant the world to me.

I smiled warmly and stroked her hair. “Yes, Nezuko. You can call me Daddy.”

Her face lit up with joy, and she threw her arms around my neck, wrapping her small, snake-like body tightly around my waist in a hug that seemed like it would never end.

(End flashback)

As the memory faded, I felt Boosette’s hand on mine, grounding me back in the present. Her smile was radiant. “You’re going to make an amazing dad, Sureiya,” she said softly.

“What’s this about being a father?” one of the girls asked as we turned to see the rest of them making their way downstairs—or at least trying to. Miia and Rachnera had an easier time thanks to their snake and spider lower halves, but Rumi and Gobuko struggled, wobbling precariously.

“Do you girls need help?” I asked, watching their awkward descent.

“No, we’ve got it!” Gobuko replied, though her legs still looked unsteady.

Once everyone finally made it downstairs, the question was brought up again.

“Now, what’s this about being a father?”

(3rd POV)

Nezuko awoke from her sleep with a soft yawn, her eyes fluttering open as she returned to the waking world. Stretching lazily, she got out of bed and slithered her way out of her room. Making her way downstairs, she found Sureiya and his herd gathered in the kitchen.

Sureiya glanced up and noticed her arrival, a smile forming on his lips. “Hey, Half-pint,” he greeted her with the nickname he’d recently started using.

“Hi, Daddy!” she chirped cheerfully, slithering over to hug him. She then turned to the others and greeted them just as brightly. “Hi, Daddy’s girlfriends!”

They all exchanged greetings before sitting down at the table to enjoy breakfast. As they ate, Sureiya spoke up.

“Nezuko, I have a question for you.”

“Yes?” she replied after swallowing a bite of sausage. Sureiya had discovered early on that, despite being half-pony, Nezuko was omnivorous—likely due to her lamia heritage.

“Remember when I said you could call me ‘Daddy’?” he asked, receiving a nod of confirmation. “Well, would you like me to actually become your dad?”

Nezuko froze, her eyes widening in shock. “What do you mean?” she asked hesitantly.

Sureiya stood up and walked around the table, kneeling beside her. “What I mean is, I’d like to make you my daughter—officially. I want to be your real dad.”

Her eyes began to tear up. “Do you really mean it?” she asked, her voice trembling.

“Yes,” he replied firmly.

Suddenly, Shion materialized from Sureiya’s body and scooped Nezuko into a warm embrace. “Not only would he be your daddy,” Shion said, gesturing to the other herd members, “but we’d all become your mommies.”

Nezuko’s lips quivered before a wide smile spread across her face. “So… I’ll have parents?” she asked, her voice filled with hope.

“Yes, yes you will,” Shion said warmly.

Overcome with emotion, Nezuko burst into tears, repeatedly saying, “Yes, yes!”

The entire herd crowded around her, enveloping her in a big, loving group hug. It was a perfect, heartwarming moment—until a knock came at the door.

Sureiya stood and went to answer it. Upon opening the door, he was greeted by Benimaru, who bowed his head respectfully. “My Lord, I apologize if I’m interrupting something,” he said.

“You’re fine,” Sureiya replied with a toothy grin. “I’ve just decided to officially adopt Nezuko as my daughter.”

Benimaru’s eyes widened in surprise before a grin spread across his face. “Congratulations, my Lord.” He glanced inside and saw the herd members gathered around Nezuko, still hugging her. “Am I correct in assuming they’ve taken on the role of her mothers?”

Sureiya nodded in confirmation.

“May your family be blessed,” Benimaru said earnestly. Then his expression turned serious. “I’ve come with news. Souei has returned from his mission. More slaves have been liberated from other cities within the Equestrian borders. Over the past four days, the number of rescued slaves has reached 2,000.”

Sureiya’s expression darkened in dismay. “It seems Celestia really doesn’t keep an eye on her subjects,” he muttered grimly.

Suddenly Capper approached the group with urgency, his steps quick and purposeful. “My Lord, we have a serious issue,” he said, bowing as he came to a stop.

“What’s the problem, Capper?” Sureiya asked, his voice calm but tinged with curiosity.

“Follow me,” Capper replied quickly, turning on his heel. The urgency in his tone prompted the group to follow without hesitation. Something was clearly wrong.

When they arrived at the gates, Sureiya’s expression shifted to one of shock, frustration, and agitation.

Standing at the entrance were ponies clad in Equestrian armor. “Son of a bitch,” Sureiya muttered under his breath, his jaw tightening.

With a snap of his fingers, Sureiya’s hoodie and mask appeared, shrouding him in a menacing air as he stepped forward. His voice was steady yet firm as he addressed the lead pony. “State your business.”

The squad leader, an Earth pony with a green mane, orange fur, and a rigid stance, stepped forward. Though he attempted to appear confident, a faint tremor betrayed him.

“Are you Sureiya Okumura?” the leader asked, his voice faltering slightly.

“I am,” Sureiya replied curtly.

The pony unfurled a scroll with deliberate precision and began to read. “By order of the Princess of Equestria, you are hereby commanded to surrender yourself to us and return the ponies you have taken from their rightful place.”

At his words, Sureiya’s guards immediately moved into defensive positions. Among them were pony guards, their expressions darkening at the accusation.

Sureiya scoffed, his crimson eyes narrowing. “Is that why you’re here? If so, you’ve wasted your time,” he said coldly. He took a step closer, his tone sharp. “First off, I’m not surrendering to anything. Second, the ponies you claim I’ve ‘taken’ are here because they chose to be. They made it clear they no longer trust Equestria, and they came with me of their own free will.”

The squad leader stiffened, his resolve wavering under Sureiya’s gaze.

“Go back and tell your princess that if she knows what’s good for her, she’ll leave us be,” Sureiya continued, his voice carrying an edge of warning. “And trust me, you don’t want any smoke with us.”

Sureiya’s guards nodded silently in agreement, their presence a quiet but potent display of loyalty and strength.

The leader hesitated, then replied stiffly, “I don’t think the princess will find this to her liking.”

Sureiya chuckled darkly, his voice low and menacing. “Well, I think you will find I don’t give a fuck.”

Turning on his heel, Sureiya began to walk away. But the sound of a blade being drawn halted him in his tracks. The sharp clash of metal followed, and Sureiya turned to see the captain pinned to the ground, a blade at his neck.

Swift Strike, now one of Sureiya’s pony guards, stood over him, his blade pressed firmly against the captain’s throat. His voice was ice-cold as he growled, “Attacking our Lord is a great way to lose your head.”

“Swift, let him go,” Sureiya said calmly, his voice cutting through the tension. “He’s not worth it.”

Without hesitation, Swift sheathed his weapon and stepped back into formation.

The captain scrambled to his hooves, his glare filled with disdain. “You would protect this monster?” he spat at the pony guards.

“Watch your tongue when speaking of Lord Sureiya,” another guard retorted sharply. It was Skyfall, a pegasus mare with white fur and a black mane. She stepped forward, her voice heated with emotion and her green eyes filled with hate. “He’s done more for us than your so-called rulers ever could. If it weren’t for him, I’d still be a slave, treated like a toy!”

“Easy, Skyfall,” Sureiya interjected, placing a hand on her shoulder. He turned his attention back to the Equestrian guards, his crimson eyes gleaming with a dangerous light as a faint wave of bloodlust radiated from him.

The oppressive aura caused the Equestrian guards to falter, their stances weakening as the pressure bore down on them. Sureiya’s own soldiers stood unaffected, accustomed to such displays during their training.

“You’ll regret this,” the captain hissed, his voice shaky as he turned to leave with his squad.

Sureiya watched them retreat, his gaze unwavering. “Not as much as you will if you come back,” he muttered darkly, the tension hanging thick in the air.

“Shit’s about to get real messy,” Sureiya commented to his subordinates, his tone grim.

“I agree,” Capper replied, a sharp edge in his voice as he watched the Equestrian guards leave.

“Benimaru, call an emergency meeting at the town hall,” Sureiya ordered. “It won’t be long before the Equestrians come knocking, especially now that they know where we are.”

“Yes, my Lord,” Benimaru saluted, immediately walking off to carry out the command.

Sureiya turned and made his way back to his house. Once inside, he gathered his herd and explained the situation. The atmosphere grew tense, his girlfriends uneasy but equally pissed at the audacity of Equestria’s actions.

An hour later, the citizens of Chimera City gathered outside of town hall. Sureiya stepped forward to address the crowd, his presence commanding attention.

“Citizens of Chimera City,” he began, his voice steady and firm, carrying across the square. “I have important news to share.”

He paused for a moment, a faint grin breaking through his serious demeanor. “Firstly, I want to apologize for the… disturbances three nights ago.”

The crowd fell silent, some blushing or exchanging embarrassed glances. His herd, standing behind him, turned bright red, each giving him a playful swat on the arm.

“Secondly,” he continued, his tone softening, “I have an announcement I’m truly proud of. I am now a father.”

Gasps of surprise gave way to cheers as Sureiya reached down and lifted Nezuko into his arms. The little girl beamed at the crowd, her tiny hands clutching at his cloak.

“As of today, I have officially adopted Nezuko as my daughter. Her full name is now Nezuko Okumura.”

The crowd erupted in applause and shouts of congratulations, their voices carrying a mixture of joy and pride. Sureiya gave Nezuko a warm smile before setting her down gently.

But as the applause began to die down, Sureiya’s expression turned serious. The shift in his tone silenced the crowd almost instantly.

“Unfortunately, this good news is overshadowed by bad news,” he said grimly.

The crowd’s mood darkened, unease spreading like a ripple through the square.

“An hour ago, Equestrian royal guards arrived at our gates,” Sureiya continued, his voice steady but heavy with meaning. “They know where we are now.”

The reaction was immediate—gasps of anger and murmurs of outrage filled the air.

“The interaction was less than pleasant,” he said, his crimson eyes narrowing. “It’s clear that Equestria will come back—and they won’t come with friendly intentions.”

The crowd grew restless, their frustration and anger visible on their faces. Sureiya raised a hand to calm them.

“I urge you all to stay vigilant. Soldiers and civilians alike must continue their training. Keep your children close, and always be alert when traveling outside the city.”

He stepped forward, his voice rising with conviction. “Let me be perfectly clear: if Equestria wants a fight, we will show them the full might of Chimera City!”

The square erupted in a chorus of cheers and shouts of defiance, the citizens’ voices carrying a shared resolve. Some raised their fists; others pounded weapons against shields, their unity radiating like a tidal wave.

Sureiya stood at the top of the steps, his posture calm but his emotions raging inside. How dare they come here and threaten what I’ve built? What I’ve given these people?

He clenched his fists, the fire in his crimson eyes burning brighter. If they want a war, they’ll get one. And I’ll make sure they regret it.
