King of Beast
DEMONS OF THE PAST
Previous ChapterNext Chapter(Maleek’s POV)
To be honest, I must’ve looked like a fish out of water standing there. “You need my help?” I asked, utterly dumbfounded, just to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind.
His only response was a chuckle. “Yes, my boy, I am in need of your help.”
The realization hit me like a freight train. God—GOD—was asking me for help. I straightened up, feeling the weight of this surreal moment pressing down on me. “Okay, so what do you need my help with, O Lord?”
“You can drop the formalities for now. Just call me G if you wish,” he said in a more relaxed tone than I ever expected from an all-powerful being.
“Okay, got it,” I replied, feeling a bit more at ease. “So, what can I help you with?”
“I’m going to be honest with you. There’s something coming, something very bad, and we might need some assistance,” he explained.
I raised an eyebrow at the word “we.”
“Excuse me, but did you say we?” I asked, my curiosity now fully piqued. I was honestly amazed I wasn’t freaking out or passing out right there. I wasn’t a bad person, but I hadn’t exactly lived the most holy life, so despite my outward calm, inside I felt like I was dying a hundred times over. What can I say? I’m only human after all. Don’t put the blame on me.
“Yes, I did say ‘we.’ Follow me, my boy,” he replied, and we started moving. I had no idea where we were going. Everything around us was a blinding white, so much so that I couldn’t even tell if we were moving forward or not—until he suddenly stopped and opened a door that appeared out of nowhere. “Come,” he said, motioning me to follow him through.
“Meet my friend,” he said, gesturing ahead. I looked up and… well, I’m surprised my reaction didn’t get me sent straight to Hell. There, standing before me, was a being that looked like a cross between an equine and a human lady. I’m only guessing she was female due to the massive… assets that looked like they could swallow me whole—and I’m a big guy, for crying out loud. She had alabaster fur, a fiery red mane and tail, hips and an ass that could only be sculpted by the very hand of God himself. She wore a gold dress with white trimmings, a long, pointed horn on her forehead, and huge, feathery wings on her back. Her muzzle was shorter and almost human-like, her eyes centered on her face rather than on the sides like an actual horse.
“Oh my, aren’t you just the most adorable little creature,” the tall equine lady cooed as she grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into her enormous cleavage. Remember when I said my reaction might have gotten me damned? I immediately got a nosebleed, and let’s just say my “big boy” downstairs started to take an interest. “Ara ara,” she teased, clearly noticing my condition and making it worse with her playful tone. “Someone likes what they see.”
If I wasn’t already dead, this would be the best way to go, I thought, smothered between her enormous breasts. Guilt pricked at me as my girlfriend crossed my mind.
“Okay, okay, put him down. The thoughts he’s having right now are extremely unholy,” G said, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
“Oh, come now, my dear friend, he’s a male after all. His reactions are only natural,” she defended, finally letting me go.
As I regained my composure, I finally asked, “So, who are you?” I was desperate to understand what the hell was going on.
The equine lady smiled down at me. “My name is Faust, mother of all life,” she replied, making my eyebrows shoot up.
“Wait, mother of all life? I’m beyond confused now,” I said, scratching my head.
“That’s because I’m the mother of all life for an entirely different world,” she explained, dropping the first of many bombshells that day.
“Wait, wait, wait—hold up, Mother—” I began, but I bit my tongue, glancing at G to see him raise his hand, ready to slap the ever-loving crap out of me if I spoke out of turn in his presence. I cleared my throat and tried again. “Another world? You mean there are other worlds out there?” I asked, receiving nods of confirmation from both G and Faust.
“That’s correct, my boy, and that whole multiverse theory is far more real than you could ever imagine. Have you ever heard of the Omniverse Cluster?” G asked.
“No, I don’t think I have,” I replied.
“Well, I’m not surprised you haven’t. After all, we’re the only ones who know of it,” G continued. “The Omniverse is said to be the largest plane of existence that mortals can survive in, but what most fail to realize is that there are clusters of omniverses, each one a creation of its own.”
The bombshells kept dropping. “Okay, so what does this have to do with me?”
Despite the light that covered his face, I could almost feel the seriousness radiating from G. “Demons.”
“Demons? You mean like demonic spirits?” I asked, my only reference being the ones I knew from Earth.
“No, no, no,” Faust interjected. “Demonic spirits can be dangerous, but the demons we speak of have physical forms. They can breed, expand, and multiply. They’re nothing but bloodthirsty monsters who exist for one purpose: to destroy and conquer.”
“Me, Faust, and another friend—who is sadly no longer with us—fought these ancient evils long ago.”
“How long ago are we talking? Because I don’t remember reading any of this in the Bible,” I said, trying to wrap my head around all this.
“You wouldn’t have. This was before I even allowed the heavens and earth to take form. Before Lucifer was cast out of Heaven,” G said.
I felt like a nuclear test site with all the bombshells going off around me. “So why are you telling me this?”
They exchanged glances, then let out a sigh.
“I’ll be frank with you, my boy. These demons are the reason Faust and I no longer have physical forms.”
“Wait, what?” I stammered, another bombshell landing squarely on my head.
“The demons were relentless, their hordes almost endless. For every ten thousand we cut down, another hundred thousand would rise in their place. Especially when it came to them—the Ten Commandments.”
That caught my attention. “The Ten Commandments? The way you said that makes it sound like… wait a minute, did you say there was a group of demons called the Ten Commandments?”
“Yes. They named themselves that to mock me. And before you ask, yes, it’s exactly like the demon group from the anime you watched, Seven Deadly Sins.”
I felt like my brain was about to explode. Bombshell overload, I thought as I stood there, my mind reeling.
G seemed to find my reaction amusing, laughing at the look on my face. “Are you okay, my boy?” he asked, his voice filled with amusement.
“Yeah, I’m okay. I just didn’t expect something I thought was pure fiction to be real.”
“Well, many things you consider fiction once existed before I created the worlds as they are now. In fact, a lot of the animes you love are based on real-life events and abilities from both angels and demons, as well as other supernatural creatures that once roamed the universe. Vampires, werewolves, skinwalkers—they all existed at one point in time. Even some creatures from your video games were inspired by actual beings,” G explained. “For example, there’s a demon we called ‘Reaper Hands,’ but you might know them as something else.”
All of a sudden, G snapped his fingers, and a tear in reality opened up in front of me, revealing a creature that made my jaw nearly hit the floor. Standing before me was a Chi-You—yes, the one from God Eater. Though it looked slightly different from the game version, with more spikes and what seemed like armor covering its body, it was unmistakably a Chi-You.
Seeing this, my response felt justified. I opened my mouth and sang, “🎵Fuck this shit, I’m out🎵,” only for G to promptly slap me across the void.
“For the love of me and you both, did you have to slap him that hard?” Faust scolded as she rushed over, picking me up and nursing the red mark on my face, holding me against her chest. Her hands glowed with a fiery red aura, and as she placed them on my cheek, the pain and swelling vanished instantly.
“What was that?” I asked, astonished.
She giggled as she pulled me closer. “That, my dear, was magic.”
“Hold up—magic exists?” I exclaimed, now beyond caring about any bombshells being dropped.
“Well, for me and my people it does. Your creator felt that your kind wasn’t ready for such a thing,” she said, casting a cheeky smile at G.
“And my instincts were proven right, weren’t they?” G replied, though he immediately looked like he regretted it as Faust’s ears drooped sadly.
“I’m sorry, my friend. That was rude of me,” G apologized.
“No, you’re right. It was a mistake,” Faust admitted, her voice tinged with regret.
“Still, as your friend, I had no right to say that to you, and I am sorry,” G said apologetically.
“It’s okay, really,” Faust replied with a sad smile.
“What happened?” I asked, feeling concerned about Faust’s sudden shift in mood.
“I allowed my people, my children, my creations, to wield magic, hoping they would use it responsibly. And at first, they did. But now… they’re running rampant, causing problems,” she explained, her eyes clouded with sorrow.
“What do you mean?” I asked, reaching out to gently rub the side of her face in a comforting gesture. She leaned into my touch before continuing.
“In my world, there are many sentient and sapient species. The race that resembles me is known as ponies. There are other races too—dragons, minotaurs, griffins, yaks, changelings, and many other creatures,” she said, each name adding to my growing disbelief.
I was stunned to hear about these different beings existing in an entirely different world. The gears in my mind started turning as I processed what she was saying. I had died, met two all-powerful beings asking for my help, and now I was hearing about other worlds. I had an inkling of where this was going, but I decided to wait and listen as Faust continued her story.
“Originally, I hoped that all these different species could live in harmony, but I was naïve to think it could be that simple,” she said, her voice heavy with regret.
“Why is that?” I asked.
G took over, his tone somber. “If you recall, I mentioned that the reason Faust and I no longer have physical bodies is because of the demons, yes?” I nodded, remembering the gravity of what he’d said earlier. “You see, we sacrificed our bodies to seal them away. But we could never reach the Demon King himself. We’ve never seen him, don’t even know his name. All we know is that as long as he exists, demons will continue to spawn. So, in a desperate attempt, I gave up my physical form to create a barrier, and before I did, I created two entities simply named Creator and Destroyer—one to create, the other to destroy—to maintain balance.”
Faust picked up where he left off. “For eons, the barrier held strong, but eventually, it began to weaken. I sacrificed my own form to reinforce it. But doing so meant leaving behind my two daughters, Celestia and Luna.”
She snapped her fingers, and two images appeared before me. They looked strikingly similar to her. One had alabaster white fur, wings, and a horn, with a flowing mane and tail that shimmered in a rainbow of colors. Her eyes were a deep, serene purple. The other was darker, with midnight blue fur, eyes like sapphires, and a mane and tail that resembled the starry night sky itself.
I was already in shock, but then Faust dropped another bombshell. “It should also be noted that my daughters and I control the sun and moon of our world.”
My mind reeled. The sheer magnitude of it all was overwhelming. “I want to call bull… crap,” I said, catching myself before cursing in front of G, “but you’re God, and you’re also basically a god, so I can only assume you’re telling the truth.”
“Yes, we are,” Faust continued. “Now, because of this, many believe ponies are the superior race on the planet. I never agreed with that. I always believed that every creature was special in its own way, and I did not tolerate prejudice. I tried my hardest to raise my girls with that belief, but when I disappeared, everything fell apart. With me gone, the castle nobles practically raised my daughters.”
“Oh, I can only imagine how bad that turned out,” I said, already knowing where this was headed.
“Yes, they poisoned my girls with their twisted ideas, filling their hearts with the belief that ponies were superior and every other creature was beneath them. Especially when it came to the monster races,” she explained.
“Monster races?” I asked, curious.
“Yes. The monster races were labeled as such because of their appearances, which unfortunately resembled some of the demons we fought against. They also practiced dark magic, which many believed to be evil, though that’s not true. Due to the lies spread by the nobles, my daughters’ slight prejudice grew into disdain for any creature that resembled the demons of the past,” she said, her voice filled with sadness and anger.
“Because of this, these races have been shunned, wrongfully accused of being bad omens, hunted, and nearly driven to extinction,” she continued, her eyes brimming with regret.
It was fucked up. To raise your children to love and respect all creatures, only to have everything torn apart by a bunch of scheming nobles. That had to hurt.
“This is another thing we need your help with,” G said, his voice filled with urgency. “Maleek Dukes, the threat of the demons is too great to ignore. We fear they will soon break through the barrier we erected. They’ve been feeding off the negative energy created in Faust’s world due to all the chaos and hatred that’s been stirred up. We need your help to stop these oncoming threats and, hopefully, to heal Faust’s world.”
I sat there, stunned, trying to process everything. Two powerful beings were asking someone like me—a screw-up in so many ways—for help. “I don’t get it. Why me? Why would you want me?” I looked at them, confusion etched on my face.
G walked over and gently laid his hand on my head. “Because, my boy, I see the drive in you to help others, no matter the cost. It has been your guiding force throughout your life. You’ve always tried to do the right thing, even when it was beyond your capacity. But I also sense a deep pain in your soul, a pain from a mistake you wish you could fix. I don’t want you to carry that burden anymore, so I’m offering you a deal.”
“What kind of deal?” I asked, my suspicions from earlier now fully formed.
G stepped back and materialized something in his hand. It looked like a treasure chest, polished and seemingly made from a substance resembling white marble. “Inside this box is something one of my angels recovered after the war.”
“At first, I was confused. But when I tried to read its origins, I realized it was a soul.”
“A soul?” I repeated, staring at the box. Suddenly, it began to move, almost like the soul inside was trying to get to me.
“Yes. While I don’t know much about its origins, I do know it was created using fragments of souls from angels, demons, and other supernatural beings. Different pieces from different souls bound together to create this one living entity. It has no evil intent but radiates both angelic and demonic energy, along with the energy of beings like false angels, false demons, and other creatures. From what I understand, the individuals who created this soul didn’t want war or death. They wanted peace. As a testament to their hope, they severed parts of their own souls and fused them together.”
I was speechless. I had always wondered if such a thing could be possible. I had been taught that angels and demons couldn’t coexist, but I had always thought differently. I was scolded for that, bullied, even called “devil boy” for my beliefs.
“When you died, this soul responded almost immediately,” Faust added. To emphasize her point, the box again leaped toward me, as if desperate to reach me.
“We believe that this soul, combined with you, may be the key to stopping the threats approaching both worlds,” G said, his voice growing serious. “Maleek Dukes, would you do us the honor of becoming our champion?”
