It was now 7:00am in Canterlot Castle, which was hectic as usual. It had been over a week since the HNA prisoner, Chestnut Coats, had committed suicide while in prison after being interrogated by the Princesses. The Princesses were still trying to figure out Coats' final words, which revealed a hint as to whom the mole in the Equestrian government. "It is actually someone you know." The Princesses knew a lot of ponies, but they had assumed it was probably someone in their inner circle, someone from their government, one who they knew very well. It definitely wasn't Twilight, but it could be quite a few others.
As Celestia thought so, one of the Equestrian diplomats who was in that inner circle, Slick Shady, a pale white unicorn with a blonde mane, stopped by. "Your Highnesses, the first day of practicing for the military showcase has begun, ahead of it beginning next week. The invites have also been sent to the British Prime Minister, who will be attending this event. The American President won't be attending as he has additional engagements at that same time, but the Vice President will be coming."
"Ah, good, Shady. Are any delegates from the other human countries coming?" asked Celestia.
"Quite a few, actually. Delegates are coming from Canada, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Croatia, and some Asian countries such as Korea and China."
"Ah, good. I thought Spain, Portugal and Croatia supported the Axis countries?" said Luna.
"They do, your Majesties, but they are relatively neutral countries, and they haven't said anything about who they currently support, so they could be on our side after they see our military prowess." said Shady.
"I hope so too. Also, have those people from Our Town made any more demands?"
"Oh, Our Town. That small communist town up in the south, right, near the mountains that mark the border with the Crystal Empire, population of around 400, right? Well, they have made another demand asking to be split into another country, one ruled by communism, but apart from that, not much activity from them lately. The liberals wanting Equestria to become a democracy have become more active lately, your Highnesses, so is the Declaration of Ponykind's Rights ready yet?"
"Yes, Shady. The final draft of the Declaration of Ponykind's Rights is ready, and we shall begin implementing it from the 1st of June. We shall make the announcement tomorrow. It will be like a constitution, but for an absolute monarchy."
"Good, that should keep the liberals happy. The next week will be quite busy. Also, any news on how the hunt for the HNA is going? Those bastards need to be locked up for good. They've killed way too many here- I mean innocents." said Shady, quickly correcting himself, almost revealing his true nature to the Princesses.
"I know, Shady. Don't worry, we will catch them before their plans are completed, and Neighsay will face a punishment as heinous as the crimes he has committed." assured Celestia, not even paying attention to Shady's slight slip-up. However, Luna had noticed it, and wasn't going to tell Celestia here. She would tell her in private, or else, Shady might figure out that the Princesses were on to him, and Neighsay would speed up his plans. That would not be good, thought Luna, as she gave Shady a look as the diplomat walked out of the throne room.
As the Princesses went to their rooms to quickly freshen up for the rest of the day, Luna voiced her concerns to her sister. "Sister, I feel something is not right about Slick Shady."
"Why do you feel so, Lulu? He's one of the most trusted diplomats in this castle, and I trust him enough to have access to classified information and material." said Celestia.
"Well, Sister, I noticed that when he was telling you that the HNA has killed so many innocents, he almost said something else instead."
"Oh, Luna, it might have been a simple slip of the tongue, he was probably thinking about something else. We are going through a time of war, so I wouldn't be surprised."
"No, Sister, he was about to say the word 'heretic'. We know what the HNA thinks of those ponies who are friendly with the humans, and trust them. That is what they believe of those who work with and are friendly with humans. For all you know, Shady could be one of those working with the HNA."
"I don't think so, Luna. Shady is one of the most human-loving diplomats in the country. I don't think he would join Neighsay and his crazed ideology. He really likes to work with humans, and he even has been photographed with President Roosevelt."
"I know, Sister, but still, I feel something is off about him, and feel like we should keep an eye on him. I don't trust him anymore."
"If you say so, Luna. I don't think it will turn anything up, but I'll do it. We anyways need to keep an eye on all the people in our inner circle, the traitor that Coats mentioned could be any one of them."
"The traitor could be anyone, Sister, but I already have my prime suspect now. Anyways, has any update come from the team who is looking for the Destroyer of Discord?"
"Well, the last we had heard from them, they were somewhere in the middle of the Amazon jungle in Brazil, and were on their way to the place where a piece may be located. If it is there, that will be the second piece of the Destroyer of Discord that we have found. It's been a week since we last heard from the expedition, and they should let us know in about a week if they found it. Also, Luna, are you ready for the implementation of the Declaration of Ponykind's Rights tomorrow? This is going to convert our nation into a constitutional monarchy, so it will be a big change."
"Yes, Sister, I am ready for it. I have been working on it for months now, and I have been preparing for its implementation for all that time as well, so I am more than ready."
"Good, because if all goes well, this should satisfy the liberals, and hopefully temporarily cease the demands from Our Town as well." said Celestia, as the Princesses left the room, ready to head out, now fully freshened. Little did they know that the war was soon going to be heating up.
