Equestria: World War II (1939-1941)

31ST MAY 1940

It was now 8:00am in the city of Canterlot, and it was busier than usual, as today was the implementation of the set of laws that would change the Equestrian government entirely. Today would be the day that the Declaration of Ponykinds' Rights came into power in Equestria and the Crystal Empire. They would be like constitutions for both countries, albeit that they would still be ruled by monarchies.

That was something new, that no country on Earth had ever seen before. The closest they had come was in Britain, where the monarchy now subjected to a constitution by the British Parliament, and now had power only in the country's overseas colonies. But here, Equestria and the Crystal Empire would still be an absolute monarchy, albeit kept in check by what was essentially a constitution.

The idea was new, and it had never been tried before in any human nations, so this was a big day for the two nations. For this event, parts of the city of Canterlot had been temporarily closed during the two hours that the event was to take place, for security purposes. They didn't want a repeat of the League of Nations attack, or the failed attempt on their life at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. to happen at this event.

Thankfully, the new gun laws were coming into place, so no Equestrian citizen could own a gun, and only the specialized police units would be able to carry guns, and that too, only in the most extreme situations. As they got ready for the event, the Princesses hoped that Axis spies wouldn't somehow ruin the whole event, as Discord probably would have wanted something like that to happen. Thankfully, the chaos magic detectors had been installed everywhere possible, and they had detected no trace of any chaos magic.

In fact, they had also begun to modify the chaos magic detectors to detect any instances of rift magic as well, to try and triangulate an approximate position to where they could find Neighsay. Ever since the suicide of Chestnut Coats, they hadn't captured any HNA members, and it was as if the whole HNA had gone off the grid ever since then. There were known to be 69 remaining members, and Neighsay probably had them all in one place to avoid giving away the HNA's location.

That wasn't surprising, considering now that Chestnut Coats had basically given away what the HNA's end goal was, Neighsay would be taking every step to hide all traces of him from the Princesses, as he wouldn't have wanted his plan to be ruined by them in any way. As the Princesses thought about that, they got ready to go on stage. The time was nearing, for the revamp of the Equestrian government.

It was now 9:00am in Equestria. In the dark dingy basement of the rural house that was the HNA's headquarters, the radio was on, and the whole HNA was listening to it. Today was another day of mourning for them, as today would be the day the Princesses adopted more human principles into their governments, and totally changed their governing system with these same principles. Whenever something like this occurred in Equestria, it was a day of mourning for the HNA, as Neighsay believed that this was a sign that doomsday for Equestria and the Crystal Empire was nearing, as they adopted the barbaric practices of the humans.

He believed that the HNA were the only pure ones, and that those who believed in the Princesses and the humans were heretics, unpure ones, and those who didn't deserve to go back. They would probably kill them all when they got back to Equis, if the Rift Gate was even finished. The Rift Gate had finally started construction, but it needed some rare materials to finish its construction, and they would somehow have to steal these.

The materials they required were so rare that the amount of the stuff that they needed was under heavy security in a large bank in Canterlot, and even Slick Shady couldn't use his government credentials to get some of the stuff to them. They would need a new way to get the materials, in this case, by stealing them, or else, they couldn't liberate their countries by sending them back home to Equis.

Using a theory by human physicists, something that they originally didn't want to, but had been forced to accept due to its accuracy, they had determined that close to 150 years had passed on Equis due to time dilation, so they were also preparing a message to deliver to the occupants of Equis, since they hadn't seen ponies on Equis in a couple of centuries. So, their message was that they had come back to Equis to save themselves from the land of war that Equis had been sent to, and that they would be truly peaceful under the rule of Neighsay and his followers.

As Neighsay and his men heard the beginning of the ceremony which marked the implementation of the Declaration of Ponykinds' Rights, they all fell into a more sombre mood, feeling that their peaceful practices would soon be destroyed by the barbarians that the humans were. Already, Equestria and the Crystal Empire were at war. Discord was free and somewhere on Earth. How long would it be until the countries fell to him, thought Neighsay, suffering from the delusions he had created to brainwash his members. Instead, they had also worked to brainwash Neighsay himself.

As the members listened to the military parade of the fully modernised Royal Equestrian Army organised for the occasion, to be called Republic Day from this day, 31st May 1940, onwards, march by the Canterlot Castle, one of them spoke up, "Supreme Leader, I know when we can rob the material we need to build the Rift Gate from the Western Bank of Manehattan."

"What? When?!" said Neighsay, happy and surprised by this.

"The military showcase being organised next week. Everypony in Equestria will be trying to get to the grounds to watch it, and the focus will be on the Princesses and the human leaders who are coming to Manehattan to see this showcase. There were be lesser security around certain areas that day, as most of it will be concentrated on the area that will be taken by the human leaders, and the path not that secure includes..."

"... the Western Bank of Manehattan!" shouted Neighsay, happily, as the whole of the HNA cheered along with him.

"Good, good! My men, with this revelation, we shall begin to plan our heist! This will be what helps accomplish our goal of returning our lands to Equis, and destroying Earth! Let's get to work on the plan of this heist right away!" said Neighsay, as the HNA immediately got to work. The showcase was in a week. The plan had to be finished by then.

Over at the ENA headquarters in Chicago, it was now 3:00pm over here, which meant it was 9:30am back in Equestria. Bret Stiles and his members of the ENA were quite unhappy lately, as there hadn't been activity from them, ever since the second attempted assassination attempt on the Princesses of Equestria and the Crystal Empire by one of their members in Washington D.C, and them leaking Discord's existence to the whole world.

Since then, the ENA had mostly been quite, except for the usual anti-Equestrian protests that went on daily. They now had around 31,000 members, and growth of their organisation had become quite stagnant of late. That annoyed Stiles, considering they had been losing their power quite a bit, and since they had revealed Discord was on Earth, they hadn't done much. It was as if the entire ENA had suddenly lost its mojo.

That was not good, thought Stiles, as he continued to think of a way to get his organisation and its members back on their feet, so they could continue their crusade. Little did he know, that soon, that particular opportunity would come.
