Chapter II: Episode I: Time For A Break

When Keiji arrived back home, he immediately went to his room without so much as a word to Diamond Tiara or Silver Spoon. Still shaken by his new friend’s death that he felt he was responsible for, Keiji would hold himself up in his room as he started to work on the new schedule for fraternity House Iota as its new leader.

Meanwhile, Tiara and Spoon exchanged a worried glance at each other within the living room.

“...I heard about what happened,” Tiara commented with a sigh, “His friend didn’t make it, huh?”

Spoon quietly shook her head as she walked into the kitchen to begin prepping for dinner. There was a heavy, and awkward quietness that overtook the entire house that evening as everyone tried their best to process what had happened.

The next day…

Silver Spoon was out shopping near the coastal boardwalk when she happened to run into some ‘friends’ from her sorority.

“Hey you, Silvie,” a college girl about the same age as Spoon commented. The opulence emanating from her was palpable with a designer leopard fur coat and jewelry all over her body. “We’re gonna head out East this summer. Wanna join us?”

“Huh?” Spoon glanced up from her list and shook her head. “...sorry, no. I’m busy with a lot of stuff right now.”

The second young woman next to the fur-coated gal was wearing a quality goat’s-wool tube top with dangerously short specially-made alligator-skin shorts that showed off her nonexistent figure. “C’moooon. You said that last year. Our parents are gonna be letting us fly first class this time around. After all, if you’ve got the money, why not use it?”

While her ‘friends’ were more than willing to indulge in their parents' seemingly endless supply of daddy issues--or rather, credit card money, Silver Spoon had no real reason to do so.

“Listen, I’m trying to make my own money here,” she explained as she folded her arms, “My grandparents worked hard to build the business empire we currently have and my dad had to work his way up just like everyone else did. There’s no shortcuts in my family and you know that.”

“Yeah yeah sure--” the fur-coated gal brushed her words aside, “Look, you can spend all day talking about how hard your family worked, but nobody’s gonna care anyway because all they see is how many dollar signs you’re worth.”

“She’s right,” the gal in shorts added, “No point in trying to convince anyone of anything. Better to just indulge as much as you can. I mean, who’s gonna stop you?”

That line of thinking was exactly why Silver Spoon tried to engage with other ‘rich’ kids as little as possible. To her, most of them were just greedy crotch goblins who wanted to mooch off of their parents’ wealth while fully misunderstanding what it took to get there in the first place. Hence why she wanted nothing to do with them.

“...I’ve got stuff to do, guys,” she replied as she walked on, “Bye.”

“Don’t tell me you’re still care about that scummy boyfriend you have with nothing to his name,” the gal in the coat sneered, “Out of all the guys you could pick, you pick him?”

“Embarrassing,” the chick in shorts snickered.

Silver Spoon simply ignored their comments as she walked away. It wasn’t worth getting upset over.

Eventually, as she finished up her shopping, she’d be met with a shocking appearance.

“Hey, it’s my little princess!”

“...wh--daddy--er, dad?!”

A man with gray-colored skin and silver hair done in a mullet would appear in a white business suit, smiling at her as he rounded the corner. “How are ya?”

“Wh-what are you doing here?!”

“I wanted some time off, so I took some time off,” he replied with a smile on his face, “The investors can handle most of the chatter for the upcoming imports. Thought I’d come on down and see if you were free yourself, sweetie.”

“Uh…y-yeah!” Silver Spoon squealed in disbelief over the fact that her father was actually present, but had to wonder about her mother as well. “Wait, what about mom, is she free?”

Her father beamed with a wide smile, “She is! In fact, I was thinking we should all take a break from all the stress of what’s been happening lately and go to one of our old favorite places to eat. If that’s okay with you?”

“Sure! I’m always happy to spend time with you guys,” Spoon almost jumped for joy at the offer.

And so the father and daughter duo went to one of Silver Spoon’s favorite childhood eateries: A small burger stand near the suburbs of Vanhoover that offered quite possibly the simplest menu around: burgers, fries, hot dogs, and the option to put chili on everything.

Silver Spoon’s father--Argent Rush--actually knew the owners of the establishment personally due to how much time he had spent there with his daughter. Due to this close relationship, he made sure to fund small businesses such as it so the city wouldn’t be able to forcefully tear it down just to build more offices over it.

“...just how I left it,” Argent commented as he exited his car, “Nobody’s gonna take this place from us, sweetie. No one.”

Spoon rolled her eyes at her father’s dramatic tone. “Dad, it’s just a burger stand. It’s not like they’re going out of business anytime soon.”

“No! No they aren’t. But still…do you know how many lobbyists are trying to get this place torn down so they can build another factory over this lot? It’s insane, kiddo.”

“...you know what, that doesn’t surprise me,” Spoon snarked with a roll of her eyes. “Some of the folks in power think they can do whatever they want with their money. Makes me sick. Also, where’s mom?”

“I think she got here before we did--yup, there’s the old broad,” Argent snickered upon seeing his wife at one of the tables nearby.

“And there’s the old hag himself,” Silver Lining shot back as she walked up to him and kissed him on the lips.

Silver Spoon averted her eyes and gagged. “Blech. Can you not. You’re embarrassing me way more than usual. Everyone knows us here.”

As they all went to their table, their jolly little time would be interrupted as one of the other patrons cried out.

“Hey, my purse!”

“Mine too!”

Several purses, handbags, and fanny packs were all lifted away from various customers, which caught everyone’s attention. They were all being telekinetically pulled towards multiple hooded figures at the end of the nearest street corner!

“...what the--?” Argent marveled at what he saw, “Is this some kinda magic trick?”

“...honey, I don’t think Penn and Teller are in town,” Silver Lining muttered.

Spoon watched this happen, and weighed whether or not she should get involved. “...if they see me…”
