Episode XXX: Put To Rest

Previous Chapter

“Ugh….spark it all…” Aoife groaned as she felt an ice pack against her forehead. “I could’ve sworn I was done for after all that.”

Luna smiled at the oni woman. “Shhh…you’ve exerted your muscles too harshly and now you’ve put a strain on yourself.”

As it turned out, Luna and Aidon brought Aoife back to their home and chose to nurse the oni back to health after what had happened. The ensuing aftermath was certainly going to be a mix of hysteria and insanity once it was all brought to light.

But for the time being, Aoife had no choice but to rest in the home of the couple that had saved her.

“Argh,” she groaned in pain, “...is Eris gone? Like gone for good, gone?”

Aidon would appear from nearby and place a tray of food on the coffee table in front of Aoife. “Yes she is,” he replied, “I was able to hold her in place with my darkness magic and restrict her from using another ounce of her power. Thankfully she wasn’t at her fullest potential or that would have been a very bad situation.”

“Mother Theresa I swear…” Aoife muttered under her breath as she recovered. That’s when she noticed her leg was bandaged up from the damage it took during the fight. “...thank you both, though. I didn’t expect you guys to actually care about me.”

“Well we weren’t just going to leave you there,” Luna replied with a concerned frown, “After all you did for us and those innocent people, it’s the least we could do.”

“That’s right,” Aidon added, “And it would seem as though you’re a member of an organization from the underworld that--”

“Deals with escaped threats that arrive in the overworld,” Aoife confirmed, “...yeah something like that, mate. You know about it?”

“As a former overlord of hell itself, there’s quite a lot that I know that you may not,” Aidon said with a friendly chuckle. “But please--do take your time and rest up. You’ve endured a lot of stress and I’m certain everyone is going to need to recover from that Anima Curse.”

Luna perked up at the mention of it. “...speaking of which, I wonder if it’s completely gone. Do you think we’ll still be able to access that power?” She idly twiddled her index fingers together as she looked off to the side. “...if I’m being honest, I enjoyed shapeshifting into a fox woman.”

“There’s no telling for sure,” Aidon replied, “For now it’s probably best that we all get some rest and figure that part out later.” He glanced at the blue oni. “That goes for you especially. You expended a lot of energy in that battle and we aren’t letting you go until we know you’re ready.”

“Alright, alright dad,” Aoife snarked with a roll of her eyes, “Sure. It’s no problem. And…thanks. I appreciate it.”

Aidon chuckled at the notion of being referred to as someone’s parent. “Oh? I see. Regardless, take all the time you need, young lady.” He then stretched his arms up and walked towards the bathroom. “I need a nice, long bath after all of that.”

“Same,” Luna agreed, “I’ll go in after you. There’s something I want to check up on.”

“Got it.”

As Aidon left the room, Luna went up to their bedroom and started looking through information on her laptop computer in regards to the news of what happened to the police chief. “Nothing…good. However, there’s still a bit of a problem…”

Her phone rang, and she picked it up. On the other end, Twilight could be heard speaking.

“Ms. Luna? Is everything okay?” Twilight asked, “All of a sudden, the curse disappeared on our end and I’m back to normal.”

“Yes. That’s because we managed to contain the culprit behind the incident,” Luna explained the rest of the situation including what Eris had done. “But now I believe we need to work towards getting Fluttershy out of that prison and into some therapy. They’ll likely find her at the police station by now.”

“I’ll go get her,” Twilight offered, “Considering what you've had to deal with thus far, I’m willing to take control on this one since I don’t have to worry about being a raven anymore. Brrgh…” she shuddered, “Such a creepy animal…”
