Episode XXIX: Monster Surprised You

Eris knew that she was incomplete and not at her fullest potential, but the arrogant goddess of disorder didn’t care. To her, it didn’t seem like much of a challenge to stomp out a mere oni from hell.

“Fine then…come at me, since you’re so bold!” Eris yelled.

Aoife started it off with a punch to the ground that sent a wave of blue electricity towards Eris. The half-powered chaos goddess easily dodged it and performed a backflip into the nearby street intersection where she’d levitate various parked cars and transform them from a molecular level into what appeared to be bombs!

“You fuckin’ wot--?!” Aoife yelled as she blitzed around and dodged each bomb that exploded the ground nearby and left a crater in its wake.

By this point, both Aidon and Luna could already see what had been happening and took matters into their own hands as soon as the fighting started.

The cerberus-man had bent the light surrounding the scene to create a shield out of the shadows cast by the battle while the blue fox woman used her speed to quickly escort the funeral members away from the area.

“...I was worried for a moment,” Aidon thought to himself as he watched Aoife fight Eris, “But I can see that you really are on our side. I’ll try my best to help you as soon as I can, child.”

The bombs would ran around Aoife, but she withstood the knockback from the explosions just enough to speed up to and land a deadly haymaker on Eris’ face.

“Aaargh!” Eris yelped as she was flung backwards from the punch and dug her hand into the ground. The fact that she felt pain gave her pause for a moment as she glanced down at her cheek and had to adjust her jaw. “No…impossible…”

“Not so easy when you can’t just fuck over whoever you want, eh?” Aoife smirked as she cricked her neck and hopped back and forth on her heels. “You gods can’t go five minutes without interferin’ with mortals, can ya?”

“Rrgh…oh so when Discord does it it’s okay!” Eris countered as she stood up, “But when I do the same thing, I get criticized for it?!”

Aoife rushed up to Eris with the intent of throwing another punch but the chaos being was able to grab her hand just in time. Unfortunately, she was being slowly overpowered by the might of the oni with a worried expression on her face.

“Discord got his own problems, but at least he ain’t goin’ around raping and murdering people ya moldy old taint scrape!” she roared as electricity surged from the corners of her eyes. “You and I both know what ya did to Archie!”

“So what?!” Eris barked back, “The loss of another mortal in the shuffle of billions! You’re all so hung up on your short little lives like it means something but you’re all just gnats in the grand scheme!”

With a snap of her fingers, Eris tried to summon a black hole beneath Aoife, but her power wasn’t substantial enough for it. Instead, it was a much less harmful gravity well that attempted to suck the oni beneath the earth’s surface.

“Rrrgh!” Aoife resisted the pull on her body as she felt pieces of her leg’s flesh fly off. The only thing she could think to do was to quickly separate herself from Eris. Without hesitation, she jumped up and dealt a hefty dropkick to Eris’ midsection which flung the chaos being into a nearby car!

“Agh!” she yelled upon crashing.

The result was the spell breaking and Aoife returning to a neutral stance as she took a moment to breathe.

“Alright…I’m through feckin’ around…” she grumbled as she stomped up towards Eris. “I’m gonna feed you yer own damn heart,” she seethed as blood dripped from her leg.

“I-I’m possible!” Eris backed away once more, utterly dumbfounded by the mortal oni’s determination. “...How are you this strong?!” With her options limited, Eris knew that this was a losing battle at this point. In order to have a chance, she knew that her only bet was to make her escape as quickly as possible. “No…I won’t stand for this. You’re not worth the time.”

Eris would then attempt to bend the light around her body so that she could teleport herself away from the situation.

What she didn’t account for, was a certain three-tailed hellhound who had been able to see what she did with the light and counter it by rising out of her shadow in a purple puddle of miasma and putting a hand on her shoulder to lock her firmly in place in this reality.

“...Oh no no no,” Aidon shook his head, then glanced at her with his canine teeth salivating with a wicked smile on his face. “...you don’t get to cheat death this time. In this reality, you are the insect.”

Before Eris could say anything else, Aidon sank back into the shadows and the darkness would overtake her body with jet black tendrils forcing their way into her mouth, causing her to scream in silence and gag as her throat was destroyed. From the inside out, the darkness would rend every single molecule of her being including her soul in what could only be described as full awareness of one thousand year’s worth of torture in mere seconds.

Soon enough, Eris would be covered in this jet-black miasma and frozen solid as Luna appeared. The fox woman had nothing but contempt for the woman as she used her speed to grab ahold of Eris by one of her clawed hands and rush her over to where Aoife had been standing.

Aoife then flexed her right arm as Luna threw the frozen goddess of chaos towards her. Then, with all of her might, punched Eris’ face with an electrically charged fist so hard that the sound barrier broke as she shattered Eris’ body into millions of tiny pieces that would fade out of existence.

Aidon would then rise out of the ground and found that his animal form had disappeared. He was back to human again. “...it’s over.”

Luna sighed as she returned to human as well. “Indeed…though…I will admit I liked being a vulpin.”

“...” Aoife collapsed to the ground after the intensity of the battle.

Aidon and Luna glanced at the blue oni, then each other. They knew exactly what to do.
