Fall of Two Worlds: Changing Status
The Storm
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI stood atop the hill looking down on the Changeling army. Many were already in the city from what we saw, but there were still a lot out of the city. I wore iron war horse armour and wielded a spear saddle. I had some sort of experience from games, but no real horse combat, like the Bloody Skulls had. But I knew how to kick and none of the Changelings were incredibly armed, just focusing on magic and brute strength in numbers, well, its what they did on the show. Back on Earth. I didn't call Earth home anymore. It was Equestria. I had love here, friends, hell, I had enemies. Here I had lived and survived unlike Earth where I dreamt impossible dreams and lived just to stay around a longer. But Equestria. I had lived, and died. Now I was facing death again to save it from a new threat.
"So. What's the plan?" Twilight asked. I turned around to see the faces of my friends and allies. The mane six; Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy(Who was incredibly scared of what was about to occur and had taken the role of field medic and a sort of spy), Rarity and Rainbow Dash. They had been with me all the time I was here. Home. Then there were the newer faces, but no less admirable. Dari, the pony equivalent of an Elven mage from fantasy and stuff. Lez Dresdal, the veteran soldier who I admired for his bravery. Heart Breaker, the great alicorn who would clearly die for his country, and his princess. Steven and Nick were also looking to me. Steven, the serpent that with his size, would, should, come in handy in the coming battle. Nick, Nick is a magical knife. What else is there to say except (yes I have too) he is 20% cooler. A few other captains were also present, ponies I didn't know but probably soon would.
"So.." Twilight began.
"The plan." I said. "Okay. I can do this." I didn't mean to say that aloud. "The plan is this: The mane six, Bloody Skulls and a few others, Dari, Steven, Nick and Heart Breaker, whilst the army is attacking the Changelings outside the gate, we go into the city and try to gather the people or prisoners the Changelings may have and rally them inside the city. Taking it from the inside. The outside troops will obviously take this as any siege. Don't trust anypony. Get earth or Pegasi ponies to go with a unicorn and have said unicorn draw an 'x' or something to show they are on your side. The unicorns are to test any and every pony. Got that?" I said. Almost proud of myself.
"Sir. I think the Bloody Skulls could be more use in the main fight, rather than a rally mission." Lex replied. I nodded.
"I was hoping you would say that. Its why your team are the overall commanders of the battlefield, being the most experienced and I'm placing you in the vanguard." I replied, Lex seemed please by this and smiled. Everypony got ready for the charge. I stood at the front, I hadn't even realised until I turned to see everypony look to me behind me. Even Lex nodded, ready. I lifted the spear up and looked to Rainbow Dash and the others. The faces of those who may not go home.
"Ponies. I cannot promise you victory here today, nor survival. Nor can I promise you any sort of gain over the enemy if this fight is to fail. But ponies, what I can promise you is this. You joined this small, yet great army to save Equestria, your home, my home. I can promise that these Changelings, victory or defeat, they shall know our names, and what we stand up here for. I can promise you this. We will not faulted. We will scar the enemy enogh to fear any other ponies who stand up to fight them. Now are you ready for the charge?" I shouted out, crap, I know, but the best I could do. The ponies, despite my terrible speech roared out their readiness and I lowered the spear, turned around and galloped forward. Followed by the hooves of the other ponies.
As I galloped down the hill toward the now also charging Changeling army I saw my life go before my eyes. But not the Terran life, the one I had had on Equestria. How I had helped Applejack at the market and paid for Fluttershy's shopping. How it had taken Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Derpy Hooves to teach me to fly. How Derpy had followed me around and my first sonic rainboom into the human undead, which were, from what Twilight told me, just a leak from the dimension portal that is now closed. I wasn't sure what that meant. And I wasn't sure how I felt about what I thought it meant. I continued to run. Only hearing my own hooves on the ground and my heart beat. Considering, it was slow, controlled. I heard nothing but this before finally, my life came to a picture of Derpy. Then the two armies clashed.
I didn't even realize that I had charged straight into a Changeling until my spear jerked downwards and the wood snapped and I flipped over onto the dirt. I jumped up quickly, hoping nopony saw. I looked to the dead enemy and my already broken spear.
"Fucking perfect." I said. I could do hand-to-hand I imagined. I had done so with the undead. But they hadn't had magic, and neither did I. After a few more moments I decided to find the others, we had a long way to go before the gates.
I found the others almost straight away, even in the dense fighting and killing, I spotted Rainbow Dash flying up every now and again to avoid an attack. I galloped over, only slowly if a Changeling got in my way and I would kick it out of the way. I flapped my wings to fly and took off. Gliding over the battlefield and landing next to Twilight, who was shooting a daze spell at the the enemy.
"We need to get to the gates!" She shouted. I looked around, each pony of the mane six were occupied with the fight.
"I know. Just keep pushing forward!" I replied, punching a Changeling in the face.
"Right. Come on girls!" Twilight shouted and shot another spell at the enemy, which exploded on impact and scattered some of the bug like ponies.
"Where is your spear?" Rainbow asked, confused.
"It broke during the charge, I tripped on a body and the shaft snapped." I replied. Rainbow gave a laugh and unhooked her own.
"Put that on. You need it more than me." She said. I thought to argue but knew there was no use. I nodded my thanks and slide the new weapon onto my back, with some difficulty.
Luna sat over the hurt body of her elder, a Changeling had come in and shot her almost three days ago, and Celestia hadn't awoken. She was alive, just trapped deep in her mind. Luna, along with the remaining guard were trapped in the tallest tower of the Canterlot castle, the library. There were Changelings all over the city, many civilians and guards had changed in the enemy during the second day of the siege and begun over running the city on the inside. It was grim. Luna hadn't left her sisters side, despite Shining Armor's pleads. Princess Luna hadn't slept since she had found a Changeling flying away, with Celestia dying, bolt in her side.
There were about forty or so guards in the tower alone, many, many more in the prisons. But most survivors had been executed. Each day the Changeling commander would come and pick a few ponies they were going to either eat. Or do things to. Once they took a guard away, Luna saw his mutilated corpse outside on the roof of a building, the enemy had experimented on him, tried to 'change' him into, something, something else, and had failed. Then thrown him from the lab they were in onto the roof. Luna felt tears forming, then, an explosion rang out. Luna swore she heard a Changeling shout of "The gates are breached!" Luna saw the light at the end of the tunnel finally.
