C15 new sleeping arrangements

After Anubis had escaped from dinner and embarrassment, he was escorted through the castle and now found himself standing in front of an ominous door. The guard that escorted him had an emotionless stare on his face, the only words that came out of his mouth were. “This is where you’ll be staying for the foreseeable future, Mr Grimgost. Please try not to forget where your room is.” His voice had a professional aura to it, one that Anubis disliked, he had dealt with stuck up pricks, who were too professional for their own good. They were the ones who refused to even bend the rules, let alone break them for progress.

“Thank you…” and he’s not going to give a name. “Anyway I bid you farewell. And don’t call me Mr, it makes me feel old.”

Anubis opened the doors to his new room and his jaw dropped. The room was massive, he had only ever been provided with the bare minimum in sleeping arrangements in his last life. This is way too much space for me! But I’ve got a little idea on how I’m going to make use of this space. A devilish grin formed on his beak. The guard noticed this and started to quietly move away. The grinning griffon didn’t seem to notice, and at this the guard was thankful that he wasn’t spotted.

Now alone, Anubis walked into his new room. He closed the door with his tail, a neat little trick he had figured out, that he could do. Now with the door closed and some privacy, he began to investigate the colossal room. That’s layout was an oval shaped, heavily decorated with gold and marble room, the bed that dwarfed him was located on the far side of the room. It was the first thing anypony would notice when entering, the sheets were pure white and the bedposts were a dark wood of some kind. Anubis didn’t know, but what he did know was that somepony pored a lot of love and effort into carving the magnificent patens and pictures into the wood. This was amazing, something as simple as a bed given life and character. This meant that it was both practical and pretty, something he liked very much. He noticed a light blue dresser with a mirror placed on the right side of the room, it had a few different brushes neatly positioned on it. His eyes then found them following a staircase, that started at the lefthand side of the dresser. It led to a second level which he wondered towards.

He started to make his way upstairs and when he reached the top, he looked in disbelief. “There’s? There’s nothing up here!! Why is there an empty fucking room up here?!”

“Anubis?!? That better not of been a curse word I just heard come from your mouth!”

How and why is nurse Sweet Tone in my room and I’m seventeen, so why is swearing a problem? “Nurse Sweet Tone, what are you doing down there? And I’m seventeen!!”

“I came to check on you before I go home for the weekend. And sorry I keep forgetting about that, you know. Because you look like a cub. I mean you no offence of course.” Anubis made his way down stairs and greeted Sweet tone.

“Yeah non taken, anyway I’m cuter like this. I just hope I get bigger, sooner than later.” This made Sweet giggle.

“Oh I’m sure you’ll get taller soon Anubis. Soo how was your little dinner date with the princess?” Her tone had a hint of teasing in it. Anubis blushed and Sweet grinned. “So it wasn’t just a rumour, oh do give me the details, lover griff.”

“No! I mean nothing happened, ok we’re just friends. And what’s with the sudden personality change?”

“I’m off duty~ you silly griffon.” She stated in a singsong voice.

Anubis deadpan. “You should have been called Teasing Tone. Not sweet.”

“Oh you wound me. Anyway, come on tell me what happened? You seem tense, so something happened.”

“Maybe something did, but I’m not telling you.”

“Noo don’t tell me. You and the princess kissed!”

“Nooooo, are you crazy? Nothing like that happened ok. We just chatted about the day and had food.” Anubis looked uncomfortable and Sweet Tone could see this.

“Ok, I’ll stop interrogating you. Sorry Anubis. But on a good note, look at this nice place you got here and all to yourself no less. I know I said I’d stop but, you’re definitely in the princess’s good books.”

“Yeah thanks, I couldn’t tell.”

“Well, excuse me. Mr sarcasm.” Anubis could never of imagined that Sweet Tone had a playful and energetic side to her. Just goes to show that everypony has two sides to themselves. But he couldn’t afford to let anycreature find out about his, other side.

The two spent an hour, chatting about the current day and their separate plans for the weekend ahead. Then Sweet Tone saw the time.” Oh my, has it gotten that late already. I must of lost track of time, Anubis I’m sorry to leave so suddenly but I really must be going now.”

“Oh that’s not a problem Sweet, I understand.”

“Thank you for the chat Anubis. Have a pleasant night, goodbye”

“I will, and have a safe journey home. I’ll see you around Sweet tone, bye.” The door closed and Anubis was left alone in his new room. He when to the restroom to prep for bed, he harboured a hint of excitement for his meeting with the cosmic entity. Zodiacrdanals, such a long and annoying name to pronounce but he would never have to try, for Anubis just called him Zodiac. It amused him that he not only addressed a princess on a first name basis, but had even gave a nickname to an incomprehensible being. What was his life now.

Finishing up brushing his teeth. He rinsed his mouth with water and spat it out, then placing the toothbrush back into it’s holder. Making his way towards the mammoth of a bed, he jumped up onto it and slipped under the covers. The light were already out and he refused to believe that a bed could be so soft and comfortable. Why hadn’t they had beds like this in the medical wing of the castle? This thought annoyed him, so he paid the reasoning behind it, no mind and closed his eyes.

Anubis felt weightless, but could only see darkness. Then gravity came back and he began to accelerate down toward the ground, a ground he couldn’t see. “Ooohh nnoooooooooooooooo!!!!!”

“Why are you screaming?” A familiar voice inquired. Anubis had noticed that he wasn’t falling anymore, no he was now hovering a foot above a tall inky black, faceless griffon. He was then dropped onto a solid floor that he still couldn’t see.

“Wha…. How did you do that!? and why did I immediately start to fall, like that? Why can I see you, Zodiac am I going to lose my mind now?”

“No thankfully, I’ve taken a form that won’t drive you insane. So how do I look?”

“You don’t have a face? And you blatantly ignore my first question.”

“I thought you could fly. As for my lack of a face. I deemed it an unnecessary part to have.”

“It’s unsettling, you don’t have any facial features. Where are your eyes, your mouth?”

“Like I said, they weren’t unnecessary. So mind explaining why you don’t know how to fly?”

Now how was he going to explain that he couldn’t fly? “Um hehehe… well, I never learned how to.” Anubis had an embarrassed smile and the faceless form of Zodiacrdanals gave a dark laugh.

“So you’re a griffon that can’t even fly? That’s like a fish that can’t swim.”

“Thanks for saying that my existence is a bad joke.”

“I believe that is a sarcastic tone? And it may be a good joke, depending on who you tell it to.”

‘I didn’t plan on telling anyone. So why aren’t you all knowing and stuff, your a higher being, right?”

“I am but I’m one of the lower ones on the ladder, so I don’t get to be all knowing or powerful, for that matter. But I can still end you mortal.”

“Well that’s a lot to take in…. That’s very unsettling now that I think about it. So they’re more of your kind about in the cosmos. I guess those books I read in my teens had so inkling of truth in them, yikes.”

Yes, I’d imagine that it would be an unsettling thought for a moral mind. Although you seem to be handling it very well, in my opinion. The last mortal I had spoken with took their own life after I had told her this reality.”

“Well I’m not mumbling or carving inscriptions into myself…. Yet. Wait if someone else was here does that mean that one of the Necrovine artefacts has already been used?”

“Yes and no. They bonded with an artefact but when she took her own life, it absorbed her body.”

“What! So if I die, I’ll be absorbed into this artefact!!”

“Please remain calm Anubis, the chance of you dying is low, very low. In fact I’d wager that you’ll live a full life and die of old age. Well unless you are able to bond with the other artefacts, but even I don’t have that information.”

“That still doesn’t help with the fact that I’m going to be absorbed when I die. But don’t you at least know where the other artefacts are?”

“I do, but in your current state you’ll struggle greatly. You don’t even know how to fly.”

“Can you at least let me know how to control my atoms and cells? So I can, you know, not be so short.”

“I guess it wouldn’t hurt me to give you that kind of knowledge, but it’ll definitely hurt you, Anubis.” Zodiac then chose that time to loom over the shorter mortal creature and formed a sinister smirk on his faceless face.

“Wait?! Wait!! Wait?!? No! No! No!” But it was too late the process was started, a black inky substance forced it’s way into the griffon’s beak and made its way down his throat, preventing him from breathing. The sensation was a truly painful and skin crawling experience, the dark liquid had the consistency of a thick gooey oil that burned everything it came into contact with. Although that wasn’t the worst thing, no the worst thing was that Anubis felt like he was having his spine drilled into and the drill bit was hitting every nerve it possibly could. The dark substance had disappeared into his body, he clenched his head and curled up in pain and a scream came from him, but with a lack of oxygen in his lungs. The sound was terribly distorted. He tried desperately to force himself to throw up the Thing that had entered his body, But to no avail. He gasped for breath and weakly averted his gaze back to Zodiac. “Sorry Anubis, but you’re fine, this feeling is a terrible sensation you are experiencing. Don’t worry tho, it gets worse when you first use you ability. you’re welcome.”

Then Anubis’s eyes began to shut on their own accord but the pain didn’t stop. Then darkness took hold of his vision, now fading into oblivion his mind shut down.

“Oh I’m sure he’ll recover, just well.”
